MK sez Sharon should resign and find an old folks' home... |
2002-08-05 |
MK Avigdor Lieberman, co-leader of the ultra-nationalist National Union-Yisrael Beiteinu bloc, called Monday, August 5, on Prime Minister Ariel Sharon to resign, advising him to take Foreign Minister Shimon Peres with him to a âsuitable old-age home,â the Israeli newspaper, Haâaretz, reported. Glad to see we're pulling together in this thing, Avigdor... âHe has utterly failed. Before the elections, the man promised peace and security. There is no peace, there is no security,â Lieberman, who served Sharon as national infrastructure minister before resigning in protest at what the rightist party called inaction in taking sanctions against Palestinian Presient Yasser Arafat, told Israeli Army Radio in a blast at the prime minister. Sharon sometimes resembles the cartoon version of the little Dutch boy with his finger in the dyke — he sticks a finger in the hole to plug it, another opens and he sticks a finger of the other hand in; another one opens and he kicks his shoe off and uses his toe; then the other foot; and finally he's going after another hole with his tongue... Avigdor doesn't see it that way, for some reason. Maybe he never saw the cartoon? âThere is no path, no diplomatic goals. The man is fighting for the closest public opinion poll to appear in the newspaper,â he added. "Yeah. He should be catchin' every boomer that comes close to Israeli territory. He should be catchin' 'em before they even think about it..." âTherefore, from my standpoint, the man should take Peres with him, walk hand in hand, find an appropriate old age home and remove themselves as fast as possible.â Sure is easy to criticize if you're not the one making the decisions, isn't it? |
