| Iran's intelligence minister in Azerbaijan for talks |

| Iranian Intelligence Minister Ali Yunesi arrived in Azerbaijan, Iran's northern neighbour, on Wednesday for talks with officials, the Iranian embassy in Baku said. An embassy spokesman told AFP that Yunesi would have a series of meetings during his three-day visit but the main focus would be on talks with his Azeri counterpart, National Security Minister Namiq Abbassov. The Azeri media reported that Yunesi was making a reciprocal visit after Abbassov travelled to Tehran earlier this summer. Azerbaijan and Iran both have majority Shiite Muslim populations but they have recently had tetchy relations. They are disputing ownership of potentially lucrative oil prospects in the Caspian Sea, while Azerbaijan has also angered Tehran by pursuing strongly pro-Western policies.
