Mary Wehmmeier's covering the Samantha Runnion murder. The body found in the desert is that of the little girl, and the killer is seemingly on the run. The suspect is a male Hispanic, 25-40 years old, thin black moustache and black hair — I know, that describes a considerable number of Hispanics, but it's all we have to go on to date. He's driving a light green 2-door vehicle, possibly a Honda or an Acura. Samantha was kidnapped from her yard in Stanton, California. Her body was found in Cleveland National Forest, in Riverside County, about 50 miles to the east.
The coppers think this fellow's a serial rapist and that he'll do it again — no surprise there. He could also be headed for the Mexican border. If you're in southern Cal, keep an eye out for the car; if the driver matches, even without the moustache, holler for the cops and don't take "we'll get back to you" for an answer.

"The body was found nude. At this point in time there is no obvious cause of death," Orange County Sheriff Mike Carona said, adding that the fact the body was easy to find indicated the killer was leaving a "calling card for future activity." Samantha's family said they moved from nearby Garden Grove to Stanton a year ago because they wanted a safer environment for their three children, one where they could play outside without fear.
