| Iran calls anti-US protests after Bush call for reform |

| Iran's Islamic regime Tuesday issued a televised appeal for mass protests against the United States after President George W. Bush vowed Washington would give its full support to a more modern, democratic regime in Tehran. State television called on people across the nation to gather before the main weekly Muslim prayers on Friday to protest against the interference by the "bellicose" Bush and "express their general hostility towards the United States." "Excellency, the people have no jobs and they are muttering against the regime." "Well, blame the Americans. That always works. Organize some demonstrations." "Yes, Excellency." "'Great Satan,' all that stuff..." "Yes, Excellency." "Have that preacher, whatsisname, Taheri? Have him say something." "Excellency, Taheri quit. He said he couldn't stand it anymore."
