Linda Tripp memoir reveals dirty details about Lewinsky-Clinton affair
[NYP] The seeds of a scandal that nearly brought down a president were planted almost 25 years ago — when 23-year-old Monica Lewinsky confided in her colleague Linda Tripp that she had been having sexual relations with Bill Clinton. Tripp died in April of pancreatic cancer, but her memoir, "A Basket of Deplorables: What I Saw Inside the Clinton White House" has been published posthumously by Post Hill Press. In this exclusive excerpt, Tripp reveals when she first learned of the affair.

I first met Monica Lewinsky in April 1996, when she was transferred from the White House to the Pentagon’s Public Affairs Office. I had been transferred to the same office in May 1993, long before Monica had started at the White House.

Monica’s arrival at the Pentagon meant that political appointees had better tread carefully. She had clout and was not shy about letting us know it. She belonged to someone with influence. There was simply no other explanation for how or why this 23-year-old woman landed at this particular desk in the Pentagon.

Monica made sure that everyone in the office knew that her current position would only be temporary. She was going back to the White House right after the November election.

As August approached, and even though Monica had not admitted it, I was becoming more and more certain that her benefactor was Bill Clinton.

US investigators have charged at least 150 people over Capitol riot
[IsraelTimes] Arrests made across the US for charges including conspiracy and assault on law enforcement; over 400 suspects identified.
That was fast, especially compared to DOJ action on Antifa/BLM protesters since last summer. I wonder how many of this group will turn out to be Antifa/BLM or other anarcho-communist cadres and how many — an intersecting set — have mental health problems.
US federal prosecutors have charged at least 150 people in connection to the storming of the US Capitol on January 6.

reported. The network tallied the total number of charges by reviewing court records and announcements from the Justice Department.

The investigation has spanned the country, including arrests in Florida, Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party,, New Hampshire and Hawaii. Officials told CNN they expected hundreds more arrests to be made in the case.

Michael Sherwin, the top US prosecutor in Washington, said at a Tuesday presser that the Justice Department has identified over 400 suspects. Investigators have issued 500 subpoenas and search warrants in the investigation, Sherwin said.

Sherwin said sedition charges were a possibility for the insurrectionists. The charge covers plotting to overthrow the government and using force against government authority and can carry a 20-year sentence.

The FBI said it had received 200,000 tips from the public regarding the storming of the Capitol. The agency is offering a reward of $75,000 for information on pipe bombs that were deployed in Washington on the day of the riot.

Also Tuesday, the interim chief of the Capitol Police apologized for failing to prepare for what became the violent mostly peaceful insurrection despite having warnings that white supremacists and far-right groups would target Congress.

Yogananda Pittman, in prepared testimony before Congress, said that the Capitol Police "failed to meet its own high standards as well as yours." She listed several missteps: not having enough manpower or supplies on hand, not following through with a lockdown order she issued during the siege and not having a sufficient communications plan for a crisis.

"We knew that militia groups and white supremacists organizations would be attending," Pittman wrote. "We also knew that some of these participants were intending to bring firearms and other weapons to the event. We knew that there was a strong potential for violence and that Congress was the target."

The day after the riot, then-Capitol Police Chief Steven Sund said that his force "had a robust plan established to address anticipated First Amendment activities." Sund has since resigned, as have the sergeants-at-arms for the House and Senate.

Officers who have spoken to the AP described being overrun by insurrectionists who in many cases were more armed than they were. The officers said they were given next to no plan beforehand or communication during the riot.

Several law enforcement and congressional reviews are underway.

Not too many would question these assertions. The criticism I have is that the list is a little lite. I often wonder why this woman is a Donk; she seems so sensible.

Rand Paul: Impeachment Trial ‘Dead on Arrival' ‐ Democrats ‘Don't Have the Votes to Win'
[Breitbart] Tuesday, in an appearance on FNC’s "Fox News Primetime," Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) reacted to the 55-45 vote in the U.S. Senate earlier in the day, which paved the way for former President Donald Trump’s impeachment to proceed on a constitutional basis.

Paul insisted the process was still unconstitutional and pointed out that Chief Justice John Roberts was a no-show. He said that given there were 45 votes against proceeding showed that impeachment was "dead on arrival."

"We put forward a motion that said that basically, you can’t impeach a private individual. You can impeach a president, but this is why the chief justice didn’t show up. If it was the president, the chief justice shows up. The fact that the chief justice wouldn’t come and refused to come means that this is a private citizen, but the Constitution doesn’t allow for impeachment of a private citizen. So, we put this issue forward, but the most important takeaway from the issue is they don’t have the votes to convict. We have 45 people, 45 Republican senators say that the whole — the whole charade is unconstitutional.

So what does that mean? It means that impeachment — the trial is dead on arrival. There will be a show, there will be a parade of partisanship, but the Democrats really will not be able to win. They will be able to play a partisan game that they wish to play. But it’s all over. This shows they don’t have the votes to win. So, they will just slog through this, and they will try to punish Republicans. But that’s all this has ever been about. Not justice. It’s about a partisan game, where they don’t want the election to be over.

#1  They know they do not have the votes, they have always known. Winning an impeachment trial is not the desired end-state or goal. The goal is filling and controlling the media narrative.

Without Donald Trump and the conservative movement, his briefings, interviews, rallies, etc, there is a huge media and public information vacuum. This vacuum simply cannot be filled with a dementia suffering POTUS surfacing from the basement two to three times per week.

Two state in particular stand out, as their current governor will term out: Arizona and Pennsylvania. Imagine Trump and/or Trump backed candidates running for any of these elections. The NWOs in the primary, and commies in the general, can play the insurrection card every time vote fraud gets brought up, along with the myriad of other claims made against Trump. If/When The Club loses an election it wants won, they turn on the conjure-a-vote machine and make the lie believable enough to not sir the pot.

Trump was impeached while still being president. The question rather is: what does "trial" mean. If the only result is to remove a president from office, the trial might be moot.

But does the removal come with other consequences? E.g. loss of pension and other perks, and of course being barred from running again.

If you consider this part of the removal, then things aren't that clear anymore.

Just imagine a president who TRULY commits an egregious impeachable offense. In order to make sure he could still run again he could simply resign when impeached, and no trial would happen. And he would keep his pension.

Is this what the framers intended?

From several experts I have read on over the years, impeachment is to remove a sitting president as an official removal of the privileges and command structure the president is part of. While there is no prison or penalties, other than removal of privileges and office, it does clear the way for federal or state charges to be levied at that person that was impeached.

The removal of pensions and secret service is after the original founders intent.

From a originalist point of view, confirming the impeachment by the Senate after the president is a private citizen doesn't make a lot of sense. In the after view of stripping privileges given to a president after their office is part of the modern view, not the founders.

The Senate shall have the sole Power to try all Impeachments. When sitting for that Purpose, they shall be on Oath or Affirmation. When the President of the United States is tried, the Chief Justice shall preside: And no Person shall be convicted without the Concurrence of two-thirds of the Members present. Judgment in Cases of Impeachment shall not extend further than to removal from Office, and disqualification to hold and enjoy any Office of honor, Trust or Profit under the United States; but the Party convicted shall nevertheless be liable and subject to Indictment, Trial, Judgment and Punishment, according to Law.

So disqualification is in the Constitution.

Which doesn't only apply to a president (retired or not) but to any person impeached. This means that any impeached person could prevent his/her disqualification by simply resigning before being convicted by the Senate.

President Nixon stepped down upon the threat of impeachment for doing exactly what his Democratic predecessors had done — only the press reported it endlessly in shocked tones rather than covering it up. I don’t recall anything about revoking his retirement privileges, and his privacy thereafter was respected, as far as I know.

Commerce Secretary Nominee Open to Raising Taxes to Fund Climate Change Agenda
[NewsMax] Commerce Secretary-nominee Gina Raimondo is open to raising taxes on the middle class, saying we "need funds" for President Joe Biden's climate agenda.

RNC Research tweeted the clip of Raimondo's comments at her nomination hearing before the Senate Commerce Committee on Tuesday.

"We do need to meet the climate change challenge, and we need funds for improved infrastructure, better roads, safer roads, safer bridges, which also creates jobs," Raimondo told Sen. Rick Scott, R-Fla., when asked about Transportation Secretary-nominee Peter Buttigieg's proposal of a gas tax to raise money for Biden administration spending initiatives.

"I would look to balance those interests and work as a piece of the president's team."

Raimondo is governor of Rhode Island.

Sen. Patrick ‘Leaky’ Leahy, tapped to preside over Trump impeachment, hospitalized UPDATE: He’s home now
[NY Post] Democratic Sen. Patrick Leahy of Vermont, the lawmaker tapped to preside over President Trump's impeachment trial, has been hospitalized, according to multiple reports Tuesday.

The 80-year-old Senate president pro tempore was taken to a local hospital and is under observation after he complained that he did not feel well after overseeing the swearing-in of senators as jurors in the trial earlier Tuesday.

Leahy at times sounded muffled and out of breath during the proceedings.

#2  If Chief Justice of the Supreme Court John Roberts will not preside over the impeachment effort due to the effort being "unconstitutional", why should anyone else pick up the gavel ?

Are we not bound by constitutional procedures with or without Chief Justice Roberts ?

For that the big Internet companies stuck the conservatives in the eye with social media crack downs.
