Reports of Russian train allegedly carrying nuclear weapons heading toward Ukraine appear to be FALSE based on US analysis, senior US defense official tells @JenGriffinFNC

#1  ...Along the same lines, there's confirmed reports of guys who are normally guarding their Strategic Rocket Force bases being thrown onto trucks and sent to Ukraine as infantrymen...and promptly being captured/killed.

So the question can be reasonably asked - why were these guys yanked from guarding what's arguably the most vital part of the Russian deterrent?

#2  Not the mention the huge conventional and nuclear stockpiles at Murmansk. Finns say the Russian northern forces are 80% depleted to provide manpower to Ukraine.

#3  So the question can be reasonably asked - why were these guys yanked from guarding what's arguably the most vital part of the Russian deterrent?

Russia is so short on trained manpower they are grabbing anyone that has or had some military training, or at least know which way the bang end of a gun goes. They have taken horrible losses and unlike Ukraine, they don't have a manpower pool that is willing and able to fill those empty spots. So they are taking anyone they can just to try to hold the line, but as recent events are showing that is no longer enough. They need to withdraw from place, shorten the line and consolidate and try to hold through winter to get men trained up and ready for after the Spring mud. I don't think they will be able to do it though.

#4  From what I can tell, the first thing the Russians have to do is to start telling each other the truth. And there are plenty of institutionalized reasons not to.

If I keep telling you Joey, keep swearing Joey from down the block keeps punching himself in the face, you might think I am a liar.

By my count:
- russia bombed (multiple times) the nuke plant
- russia bombed their ally: Belarus
- russia bombed their jail
- russia bombed the daughter
- russia bombed their pipeline
- russia bombed their mall

#2  Problem with reading comprehension? Let's break it down:
1. Russia bombed their supposed allies in a Donestsk city mall.
2. Russia blames Ukrainians shooting HiMARS.
3. KH-31 missile fragments found in mall wreckage.

Ergo, Russia bombed the mall. Even worse, Russia tried to blame the innocent party.

You've chosen poorly on which side to support, as the people in the DPR and LPR have found out.

All Hell Breaks Loose After Musk Posts "Russia-Ukraine Peace" Twitter Poll
[ZERO] Blue-check mark gatekeepers, journalists, bots, pundits and even government officials are out in force, angrily reacting to Elon Musk's Monday tweet which merely explored the possibilities for peaceful resolution in Ukraine.

Musk offered a Ukraine-Russia peace proposal, and encouraged his followers to vote on whether they think it's a good idea or not, proposing a "redo" of referendums for the four annexed regions of eastern Ukraine which Vladimir Putin declared part of the Russian Federation last week. It would also be conditioned on Ukraine remaining neutral vis-a-vis future NATO membership.

He followed by saying the above conditions for ceasefire and peaceful settlement is "highly likely to be the outcome in the end" anyway regardless of how much it infuriates people ready to back Ukraine at all costs. As Musk noted, it remains "just a question of how many die before then."

Within a couple of hours after the poll going live, which by then reflected almost 40% saying "yes" and just over 60% voting it down, Musk said it is being attacked by bots.

Ukrainian diplomats among others, such as Kiev's ambassador to Germany, lashed out... "Fuck off is my very diplomatic reply to you," said Ambassador Andrij Melnyk.

#1  History sides with "journalists, bots, pundits and even government officials"....in Europe anyway. The butcher's bill has not yet been paid.

Everyone knows electronic voting is accurate and free of deception.

Musk is a South African pragmatist and self-made billionaire. He makes payroll each month for tens of thousands of people. He knows nothing.

#2  Professor Sacks got a dose of media monitoring, "Media efforts to keep control of the narrative that Russia is behind the pipeline leaks are being derailed by actual evidence and the Biden administration’s own words." Then this "Unfortunately for Keene, Sachs brought receipts, pointing to “direct radar evidence” confirming a U.S. military presence around the pipelines prior to the leaks.

“Well, first of all, there’s direct radar evidence that U.S. helicopters, military helicopters that are normally placed in Gdańsk were circling over this area,” Sachs noted."

So as with Musk you are crushed as soon as possible if you propose an alternative thought.

So more media control on alternative thought is required. So similar to vaccine efforts.

#5  I think even the other technocrats, globalist putzes really, will be rallied against him for daring to step into the domain of big government. Frankly I don't know if he's bad news in the long run. Governments may feel the same way. If he can supply oomph and muscle to the dominant faction, only then does he survive. Or they come after him.

Musk represents a move away from the traditional system of government and elected figureheads altogether. And he uses tech to bring the 'democracy' to folks who think they matter. He already has constituencies, just not territorially situated. Customers instead if servile citizens. Client governments instead of allies. That's the way to really do government. Monarchy through technology.

#7  Musk has already spent $80 million on Starlink for Ukraine, more than most counties have sent in aid.

Never the less, he meddled outside his area of expertise and got his pee pee slapped.

#8  Musk has more wisdom and makes more sense than any of the current Western government “experts.”

The real experts — the people who’ve studied this matter for decades, like America’s John Mearsheimer, Ambassador Jack Matlock, Ray McGovern, Bill Burns and every other true expert on Russia — told their governments that NATO expansion and threatening Russia’s hold on Crimea would lead to a devastating war.

Musk didn’t stray outside his expertise; he is simply repeating the wisdom of brilliant and sane men like Mearsheimer and Kissinger, exposing his 107 million followers to their wise counsel and bulletproof arguments.

These arguments have been almost completely suppressed by our lapdog Pravda-media. Mearsheimer told us in April that escalation was “remarkably foolish,” that it would unleash forces and events which our leaders could not control, and he was right. Kissinger said the same in May.

Now we’re facing the prospect of nuclear war. Musk is just amplifying their wisdom.
Posted by: George Slosing || 10/04/2022 6:46 Comments || Top||

#9  ^ Yes. Musk is ahead of the curve, as usual, and our idiot leaders are ignoring reason and leading us off a cliff.

The intellectual caliber of Musk’s critics is nicely demonstrated by that flaming asshole, the undiplomatic former Ukrainian ambassador to Berlin who calls his hosts Nazis while he supports his own country’s Nazis.

Ambassador Scheisskopf-Melnyk and his boss don’t refute any if Musk’s points. They just hurl f-bombs and sling sarcasm. These are the creeps on whose behalf our leaders tell us we have to launch WWIII. F—- YOU, Melnyk.

Musk is correct, as are Ray McGovern and the other gentlemen referred to above.
Posted by: Whaving || 10/04/2022 6:57 Comments || Top||

#10  Public opinion is with Musk.

The most recent poll of American likely voters shows overwhelming (57% to 32%) support for immediate negotiations with Russia and overwhelming opposition to escalation.

The German public also favors ending the war. The German Parliament last week overwhelmingly rejected request to increase arms supplies to Ukraine - here’s Reuters:

“The CDU/CSU Christian Democratic Union suffered defeat in the Bundestag with a proposal to increase military support for Ukraine. In a roll-call vote, 179 MPs voted in favour of the proposal, 476 were against and one abstained, the German public broadcaster ARD reported.”

The people can see what Musk and every other sensible person sees: Escalation is going to end with us and the Russians in a pile of rubble.

Common sense demands that we work to end this war ASAP, not drag us into yet another one of our foolish elites’ forever wars in shitty countries where we have no vital interest.

#12  The most recent poll of American likely voters shows overwhelming (57% to 32%) support for immediate negotiations with Russia and overwhelming opposition to escalation.

Interesting. Most of the Republican candidates that Trump endorsed (like JD Vance) are saying similar things. Any policy that Musk, Trump and Vance agree upon can’t be all bad.

Do you have a link to the poll that shows US voters oppose the war?

#13  “According to a poll conducted by the Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft and Data for Progress, 57% of likely voters strongly or somewhat support the US pursuing diplomatic negotiations as soon as possible to end the war in Ukraine, even if it requires Ukraine making compromises with Russia. Just 32% of respondents were strongly or somewhat opposed to this.

“And nearly half of the respondents (47%) said they only support the continuation of US military aid to Ukraine if the US is involved in ongoing diplomacy to end the war, while 41% said they support the continuation of US military aid to Ukraine whether the US is involved in ongoing diplomacy or not.”

#14  Sorry Musk. You helped Ukraine stand up to Russia and to start successfully fight them off. You enabled the deaths of thousands by making the conflict go longer. You no longer have a say in what the Ukrainians decide.
Posted by: DarthVader || 10/04/2022 8:03 Comments || Top||

#15  This isn’t a matter for the Ukrainians to decide. This is now a war between the US and Russia. We’re now looking at the very real prospect of a nuclear war.

Even if we somehow pull our idiot leaders away from the brink, it is highly probable now that the course of this war will destroy our European allies’ industry, their economies and their wealth. These fools gloating about new NATO members fail to see the obvious: this war will destroy Western Europe and turn the Germans, Italians, French etc against the US — permanently. It means not the expansion of NATO but the death of NATO.,

#18  Billy, the eurines have not been our friends since a few days after WW II ended. They have been happy to piggyback on our defense spending and to export their products to the US, but friends they are not.

While we should not need a dangerous war with Russia to distance ourselves from them, we should be doing that just the same.
Posted by: M. Murcek || 10/04/2022 8:33 Comments || Top||

#19  Look Russian troll, polls in Germany have shown increasing public support for Ukraine as the war goes on and the Germans are probably the weakest

"support the US pursuing diplomatic negotiations". What a squishy question signifying nothing. Of course people are will say they support negotiations. It a cost free virtue signaling. Ask them which side they want to win the their real positions become clearer.

If Russia wants to throw away their already deplete younger generation of men on a futile conquest of an unwilling Ukraine, then it up the west to make sure Ukraine defeats Russia. Get used to your new reality. 2021 won't return in your lifetime.

#20  The war should have and could have been ended in April. Zelensky was on the point of signing an agreement with the Russians when Biden (or Sullivan and Nuland) ordered that haystack-haired moron Johnson to parachute in from London and tell they’re puppet Zelensky to do a 180 and run away from the deal he’d struck.

#22  Billy, the eurines have not been our friends since a few days after WW II ended

I get your drift but that’s more than a little exaggerated, Murcek. It’s more complicated than that.

Of course they pursue their own interests, but the UK, France, Germany and Italy have each defined those interests differently from each other — and differently at different times. Adenauer was adamantly pro-US; De Gaulle was not. The socialist Helmut Schmidt was very pro-US, the right-leaning French presidents Giscard and Chirac were not. Kohl and Schroeder went their own way on major issues; Merkel was very pro-American but still pursued her own path.

What’s obvious now is that the German, French and Italian populations at a minimum — probably the Spanish too, and definitely the Hungarians and the Czechs — have soured on NATO and will look to drop out altogether at some point in the near future.

They were already moving that way when the US and it’s proxies blew up German industry’s lifeline. Unbelievably stupid move on Biden’s part — unless of course one of his evil puppet masters is actually trying to destroy Germany and the rest of Western Europe with it….

#28  American popular support for the war is collapsing. Pew’s latest poll results show that even before all this batshit crazy talk of nuclear war with Russia, support had cratered since May:

“The share of U.S. adults who are extremely or very concerned about a Ukrainian defeat is down 17 percentage points since May, falling from 55% then to 38% today.

Roughly a quarter (26%) say they are not too concerned or not at all concerned about Russia defeating Ukraine, up from 16% earlier this year.

An additional 34% are somewhat concerned about this, compared with 28% who said so in May, according to a Pew Research Center survey among 10,588 U.S. adults, conducted Sept. 13-18 – in the days prior to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s September 21 announced mobilization of several hundred thousand additional Russian reservists to fight in Ukraine.

With the conflict front and center at the UN General Assembly meetings this week, concern about the possibility of U.S. and NATO support for Ukraine leading to a broader war with Russia has also declined. Around a third of adults (32%) say they are extremely or very concerned about this, down from 49% in May. Concern about Russia invading other countries in the region – not just Ukraine – has also decreased: 41% of adults are currently extremely or very concerned about this, down from 59% in the spring.”

Of all the possible “Top 3 Concerns” offered, the Russian war in Ukraine polled dead last, with only 6% of all Likely Voters saying it was a major concern for the United States.

“From September 16 to 19, 2022, Data for Progress conducted a survey of 1,215 likely voters nationally using web panel respondents. The sample was weighted to be representative of likely voters by age, gender, education, race, and voting history. The survey was conducted in English. The margin of error is ±3 percentage points.
N=1,215 unless otherwise specified. Some values may not add up to 100 due to rounding.

Climate change and the Environment - 26%
Immigration - 25%
Crime and public safety - 24%

Sad but not broken. May they throw off their yokes someday. Elon has the right of it, imperfect though it may be. No hate, no sneering dislike, just wishing all of Russia and the Euros the best. But it is YOUR JOB TO DO BETTER!
And drill, dammit, drill for fracking sake. All of you! Drag yourselves up by your own bootstraps. Dump your Greens! They hate mankind.

#42  Always led by the worst of the worst.

How is that different from America during the last 30 years?

Our leadership is impoverishing us, enforcing compliance, terrorising loyal patriotic citizens.

Taking away our freedoms. Creating an American version of the Stasi, bashing down doors in the wee hours of the night, imposing censorship and an American Pravda, of Woke loyalty tests for employment, even creating an American gulag on the Potomac.

Stop pitying the Russians and start fixing our own rotten corrupt quasi-dictatorship.

#51  This isn’t a matter for the Ukrainians to decide. This is now a war between the US and Russia. We’re now looking at the very real prospect of a nuclear war.

Going on $100 billion worth of military hardware supplied by Biden to the Ukrainians. All Biden has to do to get Zelensky to the negotiating table is to pause future shipments. But Biden thinks Ukraine plus possible regime change in Moscow is worth the risk of nuclear war so the shipments will continue and so will the war. Nobody can say now with any certainty how this madness will end. Thanks, Joe.

Dunno how much Musk had to say about the US military using his satellites to provide intel to the Ukrainians. He might not have foreseen how his technology would be used and he might not have had much choice.

#52  Russophobic cranks who miss the Cold War

Sorry Dahlink, to young for that. Graduated about the same time the Soviet Empire of Lies crumbled. Pity that democracy never took hold in Russia. Too many innately selfish people screwing each other and believing Soviet lies for too long to form a free society. They were waiting for some strong man to lead them like sheep. Too bad it was a short, bald, passive-aggressive KGB thug with Napoleon and Hitler complexes instead of a George Washington. But Russia doesn't make make George Washingtons.

Pity Russia wasted its natural resources, industrial and scientific bases and dwindling population to pursue a megalomaniac's dream. You will be lucky to come out of this with only 1-2 hundred thousand deaths and total isolation from the civilized world. A colder, larger North Korea. But all is not lost. China will love you long time. A very long time.

If any good comes of this, Putin will take short walk from a high window before Russia is broken into pieces.

About $20 billion, including a billion in new equipment that won't be delivered for several years. Cheaper than garrisoning troops in Europe to contain a reconstituted Soviet Union.

#54  These fools gloating about new NATO members fail to see the obvious: this war will destroy Western Europe and turn the Germans, Italians, French etc against the US — permanently. It means not the expansion of NATO but the death of NATO.,

Since the collapse of the Soviet Union there has been only one reason for the continued existence of NATO. It's not to keep Russia out of Western Europe. The Russians these days can't even get past Kiev. The real reason for keeping NATO going is to keep the Germans from ever militarizing again. It is most important to keep Germans fat, dumb and happy. If Germany breaks from NATO, all bets are off.

#58  Which would formalize Russia's annexation of Ukrainian territory.

It was never Ukraine's territory until somebody drew a line on a map after the Soviet Union collapsed. Until then Ukraine was never independent. Never. Ukraine existed at Russia's pleasure because it provided a buffer between Western Europe and Russia. The territory Putin has annexed is full of ethnic Russians who want nothing to do with you. And yet, Biden is willing to risk nuclear war for it. Unfuckingbelievable.

Everybody calls Putin's referendum in those territories a sham. Maybe so. Too bad nobody cares enough to try to find out how those people really feel. Zelensky doesn't. That's for damn sure. Neither does Biden. I must tell you, Zelensky and Biden are no more credible than Putin. So we have war.

It doesn't matter if the successor is better or worse than Putin. You make sure Russia is no condition to start more wars. That is done by defeating them in the current war and cutting them off from income and technology to make weapons and support a large army.

Over 80% of the world’s peoples have refused to side with Biden and his clown show sanctions that are enriching Russia and India while they destroy Germany and Europe and impoverish Americans.

This is the stupidest, most self-destructive foreign policy of our lifetimes. It’s really just a diversion, a wag the dog redirect designed to gull naive little rubes like the tough-talking Barney Fife character above while Biden and his fellow freaks destroy our economy, trash our Constitution and turn our country into a kleptocratic Woke police state. All while they line their pockets and those of the their military industrial complex pals.

You’d have to be an amnesiac or a deaf dumb and blind kid not to spot the scam these jokers are perpetrating. (Or a wet behind the ears Little Rambo wannabe like our friend.)

#73  The Barney Fife phase of this bullshit war is over. It got real as soon as the Russians mobilized and threatened us with nukes.

Sullivan is talking directly with Putin now. From The Hill:

“White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan on Sunday said the U.S. has had private, high-level talks with leaders in Moscow about Russian President Vladimir Putin’s threat to use nuclear weapons amid the ongoing conflict in Ukraine…. Sullivan on Sunday said the U.S. has been in contact with senior Russian officials “frequently” over the last few months, and as recently as in the last few days — despite worries since the start of the war that the U.S. was struggling to get in touch with Moscow.

“The top White House national security aide said administration officials have been “careful to protect the timing and the content” of conversations with the Kremlin… .”

Easy to read between the lines here. Biden’s people have come to Jesus: they’d may be foolish but they’re not so batshit crazy as to think the Russians don’t mean it when they threaten nuclear war. The Russians will not lose this war. It’s about 1000x more important to them than it is to us.

Exit ramp time.

The obvious path out of this mess is to negotiate a peace treaty that divides, demilitarizes and neutralizes Ukraine, more or less where the two armies are arrayed now. The Ukrainians will do as we tell them to, and like it.

#76  Russia has hypersonic missiles that can turn the East Coast into glass in short order. They cannot and will not let NATO threaten their vital base on Crimea. They will risk nuclear war over it. We will not. They know this, Sullivan and Blinken know this, and frankly, most Americans and west Europeans know this.

This is why Sullivan et al are so eager to negotiate now. The Biden people have nothing to gain and everything to lose by escalating this war. The Russians called their bluff, and they’re going to fold soon.

#77  Biden cut and ran from Afghanistan after he lied shamelessly about every aspect of the war. He’ll cut the Ukrainians loose after the election.

What he says in private is another story:

According to veteran diplomat Richard Holbrook, Biden argued that the US should leave Afghanistan despite the humanitarian costs.

F–k that. We don’t have to worry about that,” he allegedly told Holbrooke. “We did it in Vietnam. Nixon and Kissinger got away with it.

The conversation between the pair was documented in Holbrooke’s diary that was eventually included in George Packer’s 2019 book, “Our Man: Richard Holbrooke and the End of the American Century.”

If they panic over an OPEC price rise and and scramble furiously to try to prevent it, what makes you think they won’t panic over the threat of nuclear war and scramble furiously to try to placate Russia?

Does anyone seriously believe that Joe Biden and his rainbow crew are stronger, mentally emotionally and morally, than the Russian leaders?

If so, where did you get such an idea?

Half of mobilized men in Russian region sent home, military commissar fired
[ALARABIYA] The military commissar of Russia’s Khabarovsk region was removed from his post after half of the newly mobilized personnel were sent home as they did not meet the draft criteria, the region’s governor said early on Monday.

Russia’s first mobilization since World War Two, declared by President Vladimir Putin
...President-for-Life of Russia. He gets along well with other presidents for life. He is credited with bringing political stability and re-establishing something like the rule of law, which occasionally results in somebody dropping dead from poisoning by polonium or other interesting substance. Under Putin, a new group of business magnates controlling significant swathes of Russia's economy has emerged, all of whom have close personal ties to him. The old bunch, without close personal ties to Putin, are in jail or in exile or dead from poisoning by polonium or other interesting substances...
on September 21, has led to widespread discontent among officials and citizens over the way the draft has been handled, including complaints about enlistment officers sending call-up papers to clearly ineligible men.

"In 10 days, several thousand of our countrymen received summons and arrived at the military registration and enlistment offices," Mikhail Degtyarev, the governor of the Khabarovsk region in Russia’s Far East, said in a video post on the Telegram messaging app.

"About half of them we returned home as they did not meet the selection criteria for entering the military service."

Degtyarev said the removal of the commissar, Yuri Laiko, would not affect the mobilization plan set by Putin.

The chaotic mobilization of men to fight in Ukraine has also prompted thousands of fighting-age men to flee from the country to avoid a draft that was billed as enlisting those with military experience and specialties but has often appeared oblivious to service records, health, student status and even age.

Some 2,000 people have been arrested at anti-war protests in more than 30 towns and cities, and some of them promptly given call-up papers - something the Kremlin said was perfectly legal.
Khabarovsk is north of Vladivostok. Wild and wooly country. People who got sent to Siberia used to go there.

20:14 During her visit to Turkey, Olena Zelenska met with the commanders released from captivity from Azovstal and published a photo:

20:07 Units of the Defense Forces of Ukraine repelled enemy attacks in the areas of the settlements of Mayorsk, New York, Zaitsevo, Nevelskoye and Pobeda, the General Staff said in an evening report .

19:54 Elon Musk shared his vision of the peace formula between Ukraine and Russia. So, he proposes to repeat the "referenda", but under the supervision of the UN. Russia should leave if it is the will of the people, the billionaire believes. At the same time, he is convinced that Crimea should remain part of Russia, "as it has been since 1783 (before Khrushchev's mistake)." The peninsula also needs to be provided with water supply.

And Ukraine, according to Musk, should remain neutral. “This is very likely to be the end result - the only question is how many people will die before that. It is also worth noting that a possible, although unlikely outcome of this conflict is a nuclear war,” Musk writes.

19:26 The United States is developing a plan in case of an escalation of the war between Russia and Ukraine, including the use of nuclear weapons by Moscow. More details - in the material The last argument.

One of them died of a heart attack, the second - as a result of suicide, the third - from cirrhosis of the liver.

17:04 The occupiers have disconnected Kherson from gas supply and blame Ukraine for this, said Sergei Khlan, deputy of the regional council. 15:03 Czech activists of the Dárek pro Putina (Gift for Putin) project have collected 1.22 million euros in a month for a modernized T-72 Avenger tank for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The activists bought not only the tank, but also ammunition for it and have already agreed on delivery to Ukraine. The tank was given the name Tomasz.

14:57 The Center for Counteracting Disinformation under the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine stated that the information of the newspaper La Repubblica about the movement of the Russian submarine Belgorod is a manipulation. Referring allegedly to a NATO intelligence report, the publication writes that "Putin seems to be close to raising the level of nuclear confrontation." According to the newspaper's findings, there are fears that the mission of the submarine Belgorod, seen in Arctic waters, is to test the Poseidon nuclear torpedo, often called "doomsday warheads," for the first time in history.

At the same time, there is not a single such report on the NATO website, and the alliance itself regularly records the activity of Russian submarines since the Cold War. The Alliance announced the modernization of navigation systems and weapons of Russian submarines back in 2016. Such unfounded statements by the media only increase the information terrorism of the Russian Federation, the National Security and Defense Council notes.

14:49 The State Duma of the Russian Federation unanimously ratified the "treaties" on the "entry" of the "DNR", "LNR", Zaporozhye and Kherson regions into Russia.

14:27 The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation stated that the Armed Forces of Ukraine "superior tank units" in the direction of Zolotaya Balka, Aleksandrovka "managed to wedge into the depths of Russian defense", Russian units allegedly "occupied a pre-prepared defensive line." Meanwhile, Stremousov assures that "everything is stable" in the Kherson region.

13:43 Photos of the Ukrainian military in the villages of Borovaya and Sheikovka on the left bank of the Oskol in the Kharkiv region appeared on social networks . The release of these settlements has not yet been officially confirmed. They also write that the fighters of the 128th Separate Mountain Assault Transcarpathian Brigade set the Ukrainian flag in Myrolyubovka, Kherson region.

12:51 During the retreat from Liman, the enemy left a lot of mines and stretch marks, sappers are clearing the city, said a representative of the Eastern Group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Serhiy Cherevaty: "They cleared the city itself from the invaders, and of course, their remnants are still running around somewhere, they are now "They are actively capturing. But stabilization measures are underway there. First of all, there is a very dangerous mine situation there now. The occupiers have left an extremely large number of anti-personnel mines, the so-called tripwires, they have left "petal" mines that are not visible behind the leaves."

Cherevaty also added that the remnants of the Russian group located in Liman retreated to Kremennaya and were trying to build fortifications there.

12:34 Kadyrov announced that he would send his three underage sons to war in Ukraine. According to him, children who are 16, 15 and 14 years old "will go to the front line and will be on the most difficult sections of the line of contact."

12:30 Peskov, in response to a question about the borders of the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions, said that "we will continue to consult with their population about this, everything will depend on their will."

11:57 The "LNR" said that the Ukrainian military managed to cross the administrative border of the "republic" and gain a foothold in the direction of Lysichansk.

11:55 The Armed Forces of Ukraine physically destroyed part of the Russian invaders in the direction of Liman, some were taken prisoner, some were able to leave in separate columns or small groups, said Sergey Cherevaty, a representative of the Eastern Group of Forces.

11:43 In Russia, they began to look for someone to blame for the failures of the "special operation", Podolyak said: "Who is in charge of military operations in Russia: 1. Kremlin clerks. 2. Internal intelligence services. 3. Owners of PMCs from prisoners. 4. The owner of Chechnya. 5. Z - propagandists. 6. Putin personally. Spiders in a closed bank began their work to find the culprit. Someone will not survive ... "

11:18 Forced mobilization is underway in Melitopol: men of different ages are approached on the street, "asked" to go to the commandant's office and be registered, some are detained for several days, Mayor Ivan Fedorov said. He also said that at the enemy checkpoint in Vasilyevka, the queue to leave the temporarily occupied territories reaches more than 4,000 people. Only 50 people were released yesterday. The occupiers have introduced a new "rule": for travel they require to issue passes on the spot. To get a pass, the car cannot leave the live queue. They require a Russian license to carry passengers.

On the territory of the entire occupied part of the Zaporozhye region, only 10 thousand Russian passports were issued. With this pseudo-document, they are not even allowed to go to the Crimea, Fedorov added.

10:51 From November, residents of the territories just liberated from the invaders will receive additional financial assistance in the amount of 2,200 hryvnia, Vereshchuk said.

10:47 At night, the Russian military fired at Chasov Yar in the Donetsk region. One of the shells hit the dormitory, at least one person is under the rubble, said the head of the UVA, Pavel Kirilenko.

10:21 British Defense Minister Ben Wallace considers it highly unlikely that Putin will use nuclear weapons against Ukraine, but at the same time notes that the head of the Kremlin is acting "irrationally."

10:16 Over the past day, the enemy continued shelling the Kupyansky, Kharkiv, Chuguev and Izyum regions of the Kharkiv region. Two civilians were hospitalized with wounds in the Chuguevsky and Kupyansky districts, Oleg Sinegubov, the head of the regional police department, said.

In addition, in the Izyum district, not far from Balakleya, an emergency medical car was blown up by a mine - the driver died, the paramedic was injured. In the Kharkiv region, a man was blown up by a mine and injured.

10:08 Colonel Mikhail Matyushenko with the call sign "Grandfather" died in the sky over the Black Sea - he led a group of pilots who became a legend as the Ghost of Kiev. He died in June, and they will bury him in Bucha only now, said the mayor of Bucha, Anatoly Fedoruk.

09:33 British intelligence notes that Putin "unusually quickly" acknowledged problems with his "partial mobilization" by convening a meeting on September 29. The military has recruited huge numbers of people who are not subject to mobilization requirements, and local officials are likely not aware of the exact scope and legal rationale of the campaign, analysts say.

09:29 The General Staff announced the approximate losses of the enemy on the morning of October 3. The enemy suffered the greatest losses in the Kramatorsk and Bakhmut directions.

  • personnel - about 60,430 (+320) people liquidated,

  • tanks - 2380 (+3),

  • armored combat vehicles - 4991 (+16),

  • artillery systems - 1405 (+0),

  • MLRS - 338 (+1),

  • air defense systems - 176 (+0),

  • aircraft - 265 (+1),

  • helicopters - 228 (+1),

  • UAV operational-tactical level - 1026 (+11),

  • cruise missiles - 246 (+0),

  • ships/boats - 15 (+0),

  • automotive equipment and tankers - 3811 (+15),

  • special equipment - 131 (+0).

09:23 NATO intelligence fears a possible test by Russia of the "weapon of the Apocalypse" - the Poseidon torpedo, writes La Repubblica. According to the newspaper, the alliance sent an intelligence report with a warning about the "disappearance from the base" of the Russian nuclear submarine K-329 Belgorod with six Poseidon torpedoes on board.

The suspicion conveyed to the Allied Commands is that Poseidon, codenamed Status-6, may be tested in the Kara Sea area. The Poseidon torpedo, equipped with a nuclear warhead, is capable of causing a "radioactive tsunami" and is designed not to emit the heat wave that NATO sensors are tuned to. Despite the warnings sent out, few people believe that the super torpedo can be put into service.

08:54 The American Institute for the Study of War (ISW) writes that Russia's defeat in the Kharkiv region and Liman, combined with the Kremlin's failure to effectively and fairly conduct a partial mobilization, is fundamentally changing the Russian information space, and now propagandists have begun to criticize the military leadership of the Russian Federation and complain about the lack of transparency in the coverage of the war.

Kremlin propagandists no longer hide their frustration with the partial mobilization, often discussing the illegal mobilization of some men and drawing attention to problems such as alcoholism among the newly mobilized. The Russian information space has significantly deviated from the narratives of the Kremlin and the Russian Defense Ministry that the situation is generally under control.

In addition, talk shows on federal channels instantly picked up the statements of Kadyrov and Prigozhin, who sharply criticized the military leadership of the Russian Federation and thereby publicly undermined Putin's authority, experts say. At the same time, ISW states that criticism on federal Russian channels after the Kremlin adopted a law that threatens Russians with up to 15 years in prison for "discrediting the army" is a very unusual event for the Kremlin's propaganda shows.

08:37 In the Donetsk region, as a result of Russian shelling over the past day, one civilian was killed - in Bakhmut. Eight more people were injured, Pavel Kirilenko, head of the OVA, said.

08:26 Tonight, the Russians launched a missile attack on the city of Zaporozhye and two villages in the Zaporozhye region - about ten S-300 missiles were fired, the head of the OVA Alexander Starukh said. In the regional center, infrastructure facilities were damaged, one victim is known. In particular, the rehabilitation center where children with special needs studied was partially destroyed. As a result of attacks on villages near the city, there were no casualties. According to preliminary information, the missiles hit outside the settlements.

07:58 Over the past day, the Armed Forces of Ukraine repelled enemy attacks in the areas of Zaitsevo, Bakhmutsky, Bakhmut, Odradovka, Vyemka, Disputed, Nevelsky and Pervomaisky, the General Staff reports in the morning report .

07:33 Ukraine is demonstrating success in the Kherson region and is changing the dynamics of the battle in its favor, said US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin. According to him, there have been "kind of changes in the dynamics of the battlefield." Austin attributed the change to the skills of the Ukrainian military and the strategic use of weapons supplied by US and NATO allies.

Austin also added that the Ukrainian military used "technologies like HIMARS" and used them "in the right way" to "attack warehouses, command and control, which takes away significant capabilities from the Russian Federation." At the same time, according to him, the Ukrainians "changed the dynamics, and this created an opportunity for maneuver."

11:08 Kremennaya in the morning

The enemy did not take active steps to move towards the city. The Armed Forces of Ukraine are still entrenched in Liman and Torskoy and work with artillery along the probable line of defense of Kremennaya. It's not very accurate yet, apparently yesterday's weather is affecting. Cloudiness and rain allowed ours to strengthen without "supervision" from above.

Also under the fire of enemy artillery is Kremennaya itself and the neighboring Rubizhnoye, which has been shaking from explosions since morning. The enemy is trying to get through the columns of reserves (relatives, well, stop standing in columns all day in one place!).

From Terny, the enemy makes forays to the highway to Svatovo, reaching it in the area of Krasnopopovka and Peschanoe. Interest in the latter is understandable - there is a dominant height from which you can control the road in both directions. And to develop a bypass of Kremennaya from the north, without getting involved in battles from the east in the forehead.

However, the enemy can concentrate his main efforts on the northern direction, trying to go to Svatovo both from the south and from the north - from Kupyansk.

10:24 AFU attacked Yasinovataya

Ukrainian militants from positions in Orlovka launched an artillery strike on residential areas of Yasinovataya. Ukrainian fighters use 155mm NATO artillery.

09:33 Shelling was recorded from the side of the VFU in the direction: n.p. Krasnogorovka - Donetsk (Kirovskiy district): three rounds of 155mm caliber were fired.

09:20 Shelling was recorded from the side of the VFU in the direction: n.p. Orlovka - n.p. Yasinovataya: six rounds of 155mm caliber were fired.

08:33 Shelling was recorded from the side of the VFU in the direction: n.p. Krasnogorovka - Donetsk (Kirovskiy district): three rounds of 155mm caliber were fired.

08:18 This morning, enemy formations of Ukraine fired on the Kuibyshevsky and Kyiv regions. According to the JCCC, from N. At 04:55, 05:27, 07:29 and 07:40, a total of 15 rounds of 155mm caliber were fired at Netailovo settlement.

08:00 During the day, two people were killed on the territory of the DPR, three more were injured.

-- n.p. Netaylovo - Donetsk (Kyiv region): two rounds of 155mm caliber were fired.
-- n.p. Netaylovo - Donetsk (Kyiv region): four rounds of 155mm caliber were fired.

The mega sniper rifle Ukrainian forces are using against Putin's soldiers (which is bigger than some of the marksmen pulling the trigger!)
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news]
  • The Ukrainian-made Snipex Alligator is a fearsome 6ft 5in, 55lb sniper rifle

  • Its rounds can penetrate armour that is half-an-inch thick from a mile away

  • Kyiv's troops are using the weapon in their defence of Ukraine against Russia

  • It is one of many weapons giving Ukrainian troops an advantage over Putin's

#7  The Poseidon (Russian: Посейдон, "Poseidon", NATO reporting name Kanyon), previously known by Russian codename Status-6 (Russian: Статус-6), is an autonomous, nuclear-powered, and nuclear-armed unmanned underwater vehicle under development by Rubin Design Bureau, capable of delivering both conventional and nuclear payloads.

The Poseidon warhead can contaminate a large area with radiation. For this purpose, the Poseidon is speculated to be equipped with a cobalt bomb.[22][23] The Poseidon could be a radiological second strike weapon.[24][25]

Normal (not salted) thermonuclear weapons cause radioactive fallout primarily through neutron activation of material at the detonation site. Unless the detonation happens at low depths in shallow waters, an underwater detonation will have its fallout greatly reduced, except for at the surface immediately above, near the base surge. Much of the radioactivity will be deposited in the sea, and be carried by ocean currents.[26] Water (and air) will not form radioisotopes suitable for radiological warfare when neutron activated, however the dissolved salt will, and the seabed may.

If used against an aircraft carrier battle group, the battle group would have reduced chances of defending itself against it. The drone could detonate its very large warhead at standoff range, and anti-submarine warfare units would have very little time to react because of the speed at which it travels.

Europe
Swedish authorities report that the gas leak from the Nord Stream 2 hole in the Swedish Economic Zone is increasing in strength.
[Twitter]

Why would the Russians pump gas into a leaky pipe? I’m not arguing that the Swedes are lying, it’s just that it seems an odd decision on Russia’s part. Still, this cause is leading to permanent effects like Germany building a liquified natural gas terminal that by this winter will be able to handle 20% of the natural gas previously supplied by Russia.

#6  Lot of volume in the section closed off between emergency valves. Assuming valves worked correctly.

One of the considerations with a land pipeline/storage tank is to let it burn off - after the initial discharge if that fire is extinguished, there can still be a residual leaking which could accumulate enough to reignite or cause breathing problems. Leaving the fire going reduces that.

Obviously, not an option here.

The optimist in me is hoping all the quiet media-wise is everyone trying to work together to solve this problem regardless of military tensions; much like the plot device of the movie 2010.

Germany builds gas terminals to replace Russian pipelines
[DW] Germany’s most strategically important building site is at the end of a windswept pier on the North Sea coast, where workers are assembling the country’s first terminal for the import of liquefied natural gas (LNG).

Starting this winter, the rig, close to the port of Wilhelmshaven, will be able to supply the equivalent of 20 percent of the gas that was until recently imported from Russia.

Since its invasion of Ukraine, Moscow has throttled gas supplies to Germany, while the Nord Stream pipelines which carried huge volumes under the Baltic Sea to Europa
...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
were damaged last week in what a Danish-Swedish report called "a deliberate act." In the search for alternative sources, the German government has splashed billions on five projects like the one in Wilhelmshaven.

Altogether the new fleet should be able to handle around 25 billion cubic metres of gas per year, roughly equivalent to half the capacity of the Nord Stream 1 pipeline.

NEW PLATFORM
At the site in Wilhelmshaven, the half-finished concrete platform emerging from the sea sprays workers in fluorescent yellow vests with a fine mist.

Back on solid land, a constant stream of lorries delivers sections of grey pipe, which should relay the terminal to the gas network. LNG terminals allow for the import by sea of natural gas which has been chilled and turned into a liquid to make it easier to transport.

A specialist vessel, known as an FSRU, which can stock the fuel and turn LNG back into a ready-to-use gas, is also hooked up to the platform to complete the installation.

Unlike other countries in Europe, Germany until now did not have an LNG terminal, instead relying on relatively cheap pipeline supplies from Russia. But since the invasion of Ukraine, Germany has set about weaning itself off Moscow’s gas exports, which previously represented 55 percent of its supplies. To diversify its sources, secure enough supplies of the fuel and keep its factories working, Berlin has bet massively on LNG to fill the gap left by Russian imports.

Chancellor Olaf Scholz last week signed an agreement with the United Arab Emirates for the supply of LNG, while touring Gulf states in search of new sources. Renting five FSRU ships to plug into the new terminals has also set Berlin back three billion euros ($2.9 billion).

ENVIRONMENT
Following the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, Germany passed a law to drastically speed up the approval process for LNG terminals.

In Wilhelmshaven, the work is coming along rapidly. The terminal should be finished "this winter", says Holger Kreetz, who heads the project for German energy company Uniper.

The strategic importance of the terminal has seen building work advance surprisingly quickly. "Normally, a project like this takes us five to six years," Kreetz said. The arrival of the new terminal has been welcomed by many residents in Wilhelmshaven, where deindustrialisation has pushed the unemployment rate up to 10 percent, almost twice the national average. "It’s good that it’s in Wilhelmshaven... it’ll bring jobs," Ingrid Schon, 55, said.

Opposition comes from groups who fear the accelerated timescales for approval and construction could come at a cost to the environment. Young activist muppets from the group "Ende Gelaende" managed to block the site in Wilhelmshaven for a day in August.

Italy's ENI ready to pay guarantee to unblock Russian gas
[AlAhram] Italian giant Eni said Monday it is ready to provide a 20-million-euro guarantee to restart deliveries of Russian gas through Austria, after a stoppage blamed on regulatory changes.

The gas delivery was suspended Saturday because Russia's Gazprom failed to provide a newly-imposed guarantee to the carrier transporting it from Austria to Italia, Eni's CEO Claudio Descalzi said.

"We are seeing if we take over" and provide the 20 million euros, he said, adding that he hoped that "the problem can be resolved this week".

"The stoppage is absolutely not due to geopolitical reasons," Descalzi said on the sidelines of a Rome conference.

Speaking about Gazprom, he added that "it is difficult to imagine that a company that wants to pay in rubles can provide guarantees in euros."

Gazprom completely suspended gas deliveries to Eni on Saturday, citing the "impossibility of gas transport through Austria" due to a new regulation that came into force on October 1.

Most of Russian gas delivered to Italia passes via Ukraine through the Trans Austria Gas Pipeline (TAG), to Tarvisio in northern Italia on the border with Austria.

Before Saturday's suspension, Italia received some 20 million cubic metres of Russian gas per day, or "about nine to 10 percent" of its gas imports, Descalzi said.

That compares to 40 percent before Russia's invasion of Ukraine in February.

Outgoing Prime Minister Mario Draghi has signed new deals with other gas producers to reduce Italia's reliance on Russia, and has been racing to fill up the country's gas stores before winter.

Italia has already hit its target of filling its stores to 90 percent and is "in the process of increasing it", Ecological Transition Minister Roberto Cingolani said Sunday.
