[Babylon Bee] During a budgetary discussion Friday, Republican lawmakers announced a plan to pretend to be fiscally conservative again if a Democrat takes office again in 2020 or 2024.
The GOP said it would begin to decry deficit spending and the $20 trillion debt in order to win votes as soon as political power swung back to the opposing party.
"The second a Democrat is back in the White House, we will once again start yelling about fiscal responsibility," one Republican lawmaker said in an address to the House of Representatives Friday. "For now, we will continue to vote for unsustainable and irresponsible budgets that your children’s children’s children will still be paying for centuries from now."
At publishing time, Republicans further announced they would pretend to oppose giving Planned Parenthood a half-billion dollars year after year once they need conservative voters’ support to regain their offices. I see the Bee has moved on from satire to real news.

The Wuhan BSL-4 lab is also a specially designated World Health Organization (WHO) research lab and Dr. Boyle contends that the WHO knows full well what is occurring.

No, it came from bitter middle-class Remainers. Anti-Brexit people in the worlds of culture and commentary unleashed some of the vilest hatred of recent times on Friday night. Their masks fell and we saw what many of us suspected to be the case – that behind the Remoaner facade of cosmopolitanism and tolerance there lurks an extreme, Victorian-level contempt for ordinary people and their stupid voting habits.
The tone was set by Tom Peck, political sketch writer at the Independent. He resuscitated the pre-democratic fashion for depicting the lower orders as animal-like savages, as not fully evolved, by describing the pro-Brexit gathering in Parliament Square as ‘a knuckle-dragging carnival of the irredeemably stupid’.
Knuckle-dragging. We all know what that means. Ape-like. Lacking in true sentience. Not properly human. Isn’t it striking that Alastair Stewart can lose his job merely for mentioning the word ape, in an entirely non-targeted, non-racist way, in a Twitterspat with a black gentleman, while Peck is cheered and celebrated by his fellow Remoaners for implying that a vast gathering of largely working-class people had the demeanour of apes. This is because the one group of people you are perfectly at liberty to hate in our woke era is the white working classes: thick, knuckle-dragging scum.
[The Hill] As President Trump heads into his final State of the Union ahead of the 2020 election, he should take the opportunity to explain how the policies of his administration are largely responsible for the flourishing economy that is raising the standards of living for ordinary Americans everywhere. Trump should contrast this success with the economic disaster that would occur from the socialist policies of Bernie Sanders, who looks poised to win the Iowa caucus, or any of the other Democratic candidates.
The State of the Union offers Trump a rare opportunity to cut through the partisan filters of the mainstream media and speak directly to Americans about how policies that favor growth and workers, such as trade deals, tax cuts, and deregulation, are padding the pocketbooks of workers across the nation. Although his economic successes do not usually generate many front page headlines, they certainly should be trumpeted.
According to a recent survey by Gallup, confidence in the economy is now at the highest point in two decades. Wages rose by 3 percent last year, nearly 50 percent faster than the average under President Obama. Wages for blue collar employees have risen at an even faster rate, and wages for the lowest 10 percent of American workers are growing about twice as fast, helping reduce income inequality. Finally, wages for black employees have also grown faster than those for white workers.
Take home pay adjusted for inflation for the average middle class family has risen to a record of $66,000 under this administration. Democrats in Iowa may have not gotten the message, but Trump has addressed wage stagnation. Wages are rising partly because of the tight labor market. The unemployment rate is at a half century low of 3.5 percent. There are one million more available jobs than the number of unemployed people.
Job opportunities are drawing people off the sidelines and into the labor force. Prime age labor force participation has risen by over two million people under Trump. Seven million people have come off food stamps and the poverty rate has fallen. Our economic growth is the fastest in the developed world, and the stock market continues its incredible run, up more than 50 percent since Trump was elected. Almost two-thirds of Americans over age 35 invest in the stock market, meaning that their retirement and college savings accounts have grown substantially.

"This late in the game, we need somebody with name recognition and a built-in following, which Trump definitely has.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu appeared to pull another diplomatic milestone out of his hat on Monday when he met Sudanese leader Abdel Fattah al-Burhan in Uganda. This is an important achievement that dovetails with other diplomatic successes in recent years. For instance Netanyahu went to Oman on a surprise visit in October 2018 and Israel renewed ties with Chad in January 2019. The Sudan meeting could be a trial balloon for further Israeli openings in the Middle East, or it could help Sudan with its own relationships with Washington and other countries.
The Sudanese meeting was likely made possible by a change in government in Sudan in August 2019 when al-Burhan came to power as part of a council that is supposed to run the country for a transitional period. This was the first power change in Sudan since 1989. But even Omar al-Bashir
