The NAACP's Horrifying Cowardice on Jussie Smollett
[PJ] Over the weekend, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) hosted its 50th annual Image Awards. At the awards, comedians Chris Rock and Trevor Noah slammed Empire star Jussie Smollett, who was nominated for an Image Award but did not win. Smollett did not show his face, but the NAACP did not rescind his nomination for the award. The NAACP has not spoken about the Smollett case since blaming President Donald Trump for it, and the group asked Chris Rock not to joke about Smollett.

All of this suggests a disgusting cowardice on the part of the NAACP. The organization rushed to champion Smollett when he claimed that masked white attackers wearing MAGA hats had screamed, "This is MAGA country!" before seizing him, putting a noose around his neck, and pouring an unknown bleach-scented liquid on him.

NAACP President Derrick Johnson condemned the "racist and homophobic attack," and alleged that the "rise in hate crimes is directly linked to President Donald J. Trump’s racist and xenophobic rhetoric."

Smollett's claims are far from the whole story, however. In February, police announced that they had begun investigating Smollett upon discovering evidence that suggested the Empire actor had paid Olabinjo "Ola" Osundairo and his brother Abimbola "Abel" Osundairo to attack him. Unearthed evidence included receipts showing the brothers buying the rope used in the attack and a check Smollett gave them.

Not cowardice. Just pure racism. My 'people' before all others.

Carter Page: You'd Better Believe This Was A Witch Hunt
[Hot Air] If anyone has reason to call the FBI’s counterintelligence probe into the Trump campaign a "witch hunt," it’s Carter Page. The Department of Justice got a FISA court to issue a surveillance warrant and to renew it three more times, apparently arguing that Page met the threshold as a suspected spy about to do significant damage to national security.

Now that special counsel Robert Mueller has concluded the investigation by finding that no American colluded with Russia and without mentioning Page in a single indictment, Page tells Sharyl Attkisson on her independent Full Measure platform that the allegation that he was a spy is "so outrageous, preposterous," and that he’s never met Donald Trump to this day:

#1  Sorry, I remain unconvinced that this former USN Intelligence officer and decades long FBI source was unwitting of his actual role.

#2  Here's a connection I hadn't made before -

In order to get the FISA warrants, the Justice Department and the FBI had had to allege that there was probable cause to believe former Trump adviser Carter Page was an agent of Russia. Under FISA law, that requires alleging that he was knowingly involved in clandestine activity on behalf of Russia, and that this clandestine activity involved probable violations of American criminal law – offenses such as espionage. Yet, despite the fact that this representation was made four times in sworn “verified” applications, Mueller never charged Page with a crime – not espionage, not false statements, nothing.

Oh, but all the officials who could explain that conundrum have been fired or resigned. Maybe Bobby Mueller knows?

#4  Now if the Rinos can grow a pair and demand he testify

After everyone else is tried and convicted, when it is obvious to all what he did, and when all of his friends have deserted him. One must take a methodical approach to belling a cat, lest in future the changing of the ruling party automatically results in jailing the previous leader on flimsy grounds.

Victor Davis Hannson - The Tables Turn in Russian Collusion Hunt
[American Greatness] The irony of the entire Russian collusion hoax is that accusers who cried the loudest about leaking, collusion, lying, and obstruction are themselves soon very likely to be accused of just those crimes.

Now that Robert Mueller’s 674-day, $30 million investigation is over and has failed to find the original goal of its mandate‐evidence of a criminal conspiracy between the Trump presidential campaign and the Russian government to sway the 2016 election‐and now that thousands of once-sealed government documents will likely be released in unredacted form, those who eagerly assumed the role of the hunters may become the hunted, due to their own zealous violation of the nation’s trust and its laws.

TAKE LYING
Former FBI Director James Comey’s testimonies cannot be reconciled with those of his own deputy director Andrew McCabe. He falsely testified that the Steele dossier was not the main basis for obtaining FISA court warrants. On at least 245 occasions, Comey swore under oath that he either did not know, or could not remember, when asked direct questions about his conduct at the FBI. He likely lied when he testified that he did not conclude his assessment of the Clinton illegal email use before he had even interviewed Clinton, an assertion contradicted by his own written report. I guess his credo and modus operandi are reflected in the subtitle of his recent autobiography A Higher Loyalty: "Truth, Lies, and Leadership."

Andrew McCabe currently is under criminal referral for lying to federal investigators about leaking to the media. He and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein each have accused each other of not telling the whole truth about their shared caper of trying to force President Trump out of office by invoking the 25th Amendment.

Former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper has admitted to lying under oath to Congress‐and since lied about his earlier admission of that lying. His recent sworn congressional testimony of not having leaked information about the Steele dossier to the media is again likely to be untrue, given that Clapper had admitted to speaking to CNN’s Jake Tapper about the dossier’s contents. CNN, remember, would in turn go on to hire the mendacious Clapper as an analyst. And once on air, Clapper would insist that Trump was both a Russian asset and thus guilty of collusion crimes greater than those of Watergate. Lies. All lies.

Former CIA Director John Brennan has admitted to lying under oath to Congress on two occasions. He may well face further legal exposure. When he lost his security clearance, he repeatedly lied that Trump was guilty of collusion, however that non-crime is defined. And as the Mueller probe wound down, Brennan with pseudo-authority and trumped-up hints of phony access to secret intelligence sources deceitfully assured the nation that Trump within days would face indictment‐perhaps along with his family members.

India-Pakistan
Curriculum reform
[DAWN] THE need to reform the curriculum in Pakistain ‐ particularly to purge it of biases and material that promote hatred ‐ is one that has been highlighted by various quarters. This need becomes all the more acute when the radicalisation of society continues at a frighteningly quick pace, when, for example, students who have studied at institutes of higher learning take the path of militancy and vigilantism. As experts at a conference in Lahore highlighted on Friday, the education system should be free of ethnic, religious and social discrimination. Pointing to a key need of the times, they said that students’ mindsets must be broadened. Considering the promotion of jihadi ideology in the Zia era, and its deadly by-products ‐ namely a rapid radicalisation of society ‐ these suggestions are not without merit. And while those who have studied in madressahs are usually blamed for spreading extremism, the curriculum taught at public and private schools also has a part to play in promoting obscurantism.

While steps have been taken to add more inclusive topics to the curriculum ‐ for example, the Quaid’s famous Aug 11 speech ‐experts note that our textbooks are still not entirely free of bias. Education must not be reduced to making pupils regurgitate narrow ideological shibboleths; instead, textbooks must impart lessons that awaken the spirit of inquiry within young ones and help give them a more progressive perspective. Religions, sects, ethnic groups and nationalities must not be demonised and history must not be twisted. Instead of focusing on narrow interpretations, religious studies should focus on compassion and brotherhood. It is not an easy task to undo decades of indoctrination through the curriculum; however, the provinces, under the jurisdiction granted to them by the 18th Amendment, can take the lead by reviewing their textbooks and removing material that promotes hatred and obscurantism. Instead of brainwashing our youth with doubtful notions, the education system needs to equip them with the tools necessary to compete in the world of tomorrow.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Pompeo’s warnings to Lebanon about Hezbollah will be the last straw
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Over the last week, Leb was immersed in Mike Pompeo’s visit to Beirut, where he concluded his recent trip to the Middle East. The Lebanese government’s warm welcome to the US Secretary of State was soon replaced with pessimism. Pompeo conveyed during meetings with brass hats that Leb’s economy depends on its ability to ensure that Hezbollah’s influence in the country and the region is harnessed.

Much of the fuss surrounding Pompeo’s visit stems from the continued US sanctions on Iran, which have greatly hindered the latter’s ability to finance the activities of its militias across the region, particularly Hezbollah. Pompeo refrained from sugar coating his words, delivering the firm message that Leb must prevent Hezbollah from using its banking sector to circumvent US sanctions.

Pompeo echoed what his previous two envoys, David Satterfield and David Hale, had communicated to the Lebanese state a few months earlier. Yet the Lebanese political establishment chooses to ignore these warnings and maintains the same destructive rhetoric that has led to Leb's current predicament.

Boeing's Diversity and Inclusion Pronouncements Should Make Us All Uneasy
BLUF:
[PJ] As a June 2, 2015, Wall Street Journal article reported, the Federal Aviation Administration has "quietly moved away from merit-based hiring in order to increase the number of women and minorities who staff airport control towers." Former air traffic controller Willie Shields reveals that "Along with under-reporting system failures, the FAA started conspiring, almost openly, with leftist groups like the Black and Hispanic Controller's Coalition. Gay and lesbian organizations started demanding hiring and promotion slots for their members‐as if one's preference for a particular style of recreational sexual behavior is an indispensable predictor of air traffic control ability." Shields concedes that "The affirmative action angle is only a part of the problem"‐the need to beat the competition, the drive to maximize profit, laziness, and inertia at the top figure prominently‐but equity hiring is a major factor.

#4  So I seem to have missed how the FAA hiring policy drove Boeings policies. Does one really think that Boeing is reducing quality of their aircraft because the FAA hires gays that are not aviation experts? No where in the law suits is the FAA mentioned and the FAA does not answer to shareholders. Just not sure what they are getting at.
