For more than 50 years, the black community has been the wholly owned subsidiary of the Democratic Party. That may be changing. In spite of the overwhelmingly liberal voting patterns of black voters, they are an essentially conservative community. Americans of African descent are more pro-life and pro-family than the average white voter and as conservative on social issues as any white evangelical.
Democrats have managed to monopolize the black vote in spite of the vast chasm between the two on social issues. This philosophical difference has become more pronounced in the past 20 years, as liberals have embraced far-left progressivism. Their view of "social justice" embraces the killing of an unborn child right up to the moment before birth. Indeed, President Obama, the iconic representative of the far left, believes that even a child born alive should be left to die without medical treatment if the mother intended an abortion. He championed this Mengelean position as a state senator in Illinois.
I was raised to be an FDR Democrat because my father was a young man during the Depression and credited President Roosevelt with saving him from starvation. "The Republicans only care about rich people," I was told. This was more than 40 years ago. In spite of my childhood indoctrination, as a young man newly committed to my Christian faith, I had a crisis of conscience in the late 1970s. Massachusetts Democrat Barney Frank was pushing the homosexual agenda. How could I, as a Christian, be committed to a party led by Mr. Frank? In the end, I could not. My desire to be in a right relationship with God and my faith was greater than my desire to be approved by my father, my family or the black community. My wife and I, then Massachusetts residents, left the Democratic Party in 1980 and never looked back.
Democrats now have fully embraced an abortion policy that amounts to infanticide. They have also made the lesbian-homosexual-bisexual-transgender agenda their vision for America. How have they managed to hold on to black Christians in spite of an agenda worthy of the Antichrist? They have shown a ruthless willingness to frighten black voters with outright lies about the plans of conservatives and Republicans. Vice President Joseph R. Biden's "they gonna put y'all back in chains" was not a gaffe. It is part of the Democrats' strategy of using fear to keep blacks as a captive audience. I always have believed that such lies could not distract black voters forever or keep them from noticing the increasingly anti-Christian radicalism of the Democratic Party.
All over the country, black churchgoers are now expressing disenchantment with the Democrats making "same-sex marriage" an official part of their platform. This may be the straw that breaks the camel's back. There are older black Christians who will vote Democratic no matter what, driven by emotional memory rather than spiritual commitment. Younger, committed Christians more readily see the contradiction and the irony. They are being asked to put aside their biblical and moral vision of the world and submit to the leadership of the Democratic Party because that leadership promises to do something for them. The Democrats' policies since the 1960s have decimated the black family, perpetuated poverty and created failing schools that operate to benefit unions rather than children. In league with the National Education Association, they oppose every effort to give choice to parents to allow their children to escape failing schools.
Now black churchgoers are being told to suppress Christian conscience and remain beholden to a party that demands their loyalty while insulting their faith and blaspheming their God. For the first time in 50 years, there is a discussion going on in the black community as to whether their loyalty to the Democratic Party is deserved. Many black pastors are telling their members to stay home, rather than vote for a black president who has done more to advance the cause of homosexuality and abortion than that of black Americans.
We are hearing the rumblings of a fissure between black Christians and the Democratic Party. My organization, Staying True to America's National Destiny (Stand), is calling for a mass exodus of Christians from the Democratic Party. We held a news conference at the National Press Club on Sept. 10 and produced several videos. This not only has prompted discussion, but perhaps has launched a movement. Mr. Obama's commitment to the radical left's anti-Christian, anti-God politics may cost him the election, because a constituency he has taken for granted has awakened to the truth that being the first black president is not enough.

Depending on whose polling you are looking at, Obama has lost considerable support among black Americans. I saw some Gallup polling that showed his support down 88% which is the lowest for any Democrat since Dukakis. Some polling I saw in North Carolina showed Obama's support among black voters there down to 76%.
It will be interesting to see how the exit polling looks.

Jackson is a statistical outlier.
95%+ of blacks will vote for Obama even if they were to see him on live TV set fire to 100 third graders and promise to do the same every week for the rest of his life.
Their voting is (sadly, and with notable exceptions) driven by tribalism and intergenerational grudges based upon conditions which no longer exist. The Boston Irish invented this and still act that way, and in many ways are the model.
Add to this the fact that nearly 80% of the blacks who have joined the middle class have done so through public sector employment, much of it affirmative action hires, and that both in terms of percentages and actual numbers (at least since Clinton's second term) they are the largest group on various forms of public assistance, and you have an additional generic loyalty to the Dems, the party of expanding government.
Pursuing this "blacks are wavering in their support for Obama" mem is a fool's errand. The center/right needs to make its gains elsewhere.

The black middle class was not built on affirmative action so much as on expanded government employment. As such, shrinking government will hit that group harder than most.
A lot of blacks I know are not pleased with Obama but can't make themselves vote against him - I would not be surprised though if many decided not to vote at all. Romney's bigger problem is people (independent, libertarian and Republican) who won't vote because they no longer believe it matters - I am not very sure they are wrong, but I won't give up until the fat lady sings.

Jackson is definitely someone walking in the narrow way, and Jesus made no bones about the fact that there wouldn't be many people walking beside him.
The fact of the matter is that there are many Christians in the democratic party who have said "YES! YES! YES!" when The devil offered them the world in exchange that they worship him, believing that they can renege on their side of the bargain, but (like everything else in real life) have no clue as to the many ways that the world and the devil have to extract compliance. Many have no problem looking at welfare as "charity", and have no moral compunctions about forcing other people to "contribute".
One of the core metaphors for describing the Christian life is that it is a building the believer builds on the foundation of belief in Jesus Christ as the Son of God. While many know of the passages that tell them to build on Jesus Christ, in one passage Paul warns Christians to be careful of the materials they use when they build on that foundation: the quality of the materials is what is tested in The Last Day, and our rewards are based on what survives 'the fire'. My personal belief is that the quality of the materials INCLUDES their origin, so I expect a lot of weeping and wailing among liberal Christians when God rips out of "their" building all the materials they STOLE from someone else: that is, if they are taking credit for the "good laws" they passed and the "good legislators" who passed those laws that effectively did the "good works" on someone else's dime. In fact, I believe they will receive a double condemnation: one for taking someone else's resources as their own to do their own "good works", and the second for the good works that those who originally owned those resources would have done with them, but could not because those were taken away from the original owners. Think of a burglar who is not only sentenced based on how much he stole, but also on the cost of the lost benefits that were deprived from the original owner and any other potential beneficiaries. I talk to liberal christians about this, and the blink rate goes way up: they simply cannot process the concept that maybe God gave ME the money and not to THEM because God had told ME what to do with it, and THEY were opposing God's will by taking it away from me to spend it on what THEY, not God, wanted.

The question is not who they vote for but if they turnout. Blacks turned out in record numbers in 2008 and Obama could really use those numbers now.
I would tend to think you Gettysburg story is BS: it is true that Lee advocated for reruiting Blacks in the Confederate Army but he met stauch resistance and the few recruited were still in traing by the end of war. Anyway at the time of Gettysburg no Confederte, not even Lee advocated for recruiting Blacks.

It's estimated that approx. 50,000 blacks served in the Confederate Army. Alabama authorized a "colored militia" in 1862.It's quite possible that some were at Gettysburg. Other states such as Texas and Louisana also had such units.

Well then, most respectfully, you'd be incorrect. Civil War history has indeed identified blacks who championed the cause in uniform and in mufti, as paid engineers, teamsters, observers, and yes informers. Lee's enthusiasm and desire to arm the black man was not borne out of sheer concept.
Lastely, terms such as none, zero, and never are fairly exclusive. Deviations and exceptions oftentimes prove quite revealing.

Legitimate question, grom. Although 'everyone' is stretching it a bit.
Several hundred years ago, Europe transitioned from states needing religious homogeneity to states needing ethnic homogeneity. On both counts, Jews lose out. This wasn't that much of a factor in the Anglosphere, where tolerance for Jews was greater.
In the 20th century, the Jews association (real or imagined) with world socialism harmed their image in many groups.
In the late 20th century, post modern Europe and many other places, simply don't have the capacity to stand up for democracy, the rule of law and tolerance (ie Israel) and seek to appease various groups of murderous thugs, ie Israel's enemies. The phrase I use is 'They want to stop the world and get off'. Not a real option, of course.
To answer your question, the Jews have been swimming against the tides of history for a long time. That they are still around and thriving, speaks volumes about the resilience of their culture.

The Jews accomplished the HISTORICAL gift of giving the concept of a Monotheistic Omnipotent God the Father to the world. This is the FOUNDATION of all Values in the Western world, whether they admit it or not. JEWISH values are the foundation of all western morality today.

In my view Jews are perceived as successful which Hitler and muslims do not like.
They are a scapegoat when the economy is bad.The Jews dont help themselves either by not mixing with other faiths/employing their own people only.
