-Short Attention Span Theater-
Fake or brilliant ?
Welcome to Somali Cruises...It's like a safari, only better.

"Safari" is the Swahili word for adventure and that's just what we have in store for you.

We sail up and down the coast of Somalia waiting to get hijacked by pirates. We encourage you to bring your 'High powered weapons' along on the cruise. If you don't have weapons of your own, you can rent them on the boat.

Don't miss the boat
limited time offer

The boat departs from Mombasa (Kenya) and docks at Djibouti harbor (in Djibouti). Cabin space is limited so respond quickly. Reserve your package before June 29 and get 100 rounds of free tracer ammo in the caliber of your choice.

Our guarantee

We guarantee adventure. We guarantee that you will experience at least two hijacking attempts by pirates or we will refund half your money back, including gun rental charges and any unused ammo (mini gun charges not included). How can we guarantee you will experience a hijacking? We operate at 5 knots within 12 miles of the coast of Somalia. If an attempted hijacking does not occur, we will turn the boat around and cruise by at 4 knots. We will repeat this for up to 8 days making three passes a day along the entire length of Somalia. At night the boat is fully lit and bottle rockets are shot off at intervals and loud disco music beamed shore side to attract attention.
You can opt for a mounted mini-gun or RPG instead of an AK-47 or M-16. I suspect there is a market for this kind of thing -- didn't one of you have a friend cruising the Caribbean with an arms locker that needed regular replenishing?

Bangladesh
7th June 1966: the Day of Ultimate Decision for Independence
Western communities strictly believe that the number 13 is the symbol of misfortune and 7 is the symbol of fortune or good luck. Coincidently in the life the Bengalis, the number 7 has been clearly manifested as the symbol of good luck. Let starts with 1952. Everybody has little or more knowledge about this year. We get 7 from 52 (5+2=7). To speak the truth, the Bengalis cross the first step of liberation in '52. Then comes October 7, 1958. General Ayub Khan, Head of the Pakistan Army, took the power by imposing military rules all over the country on this day. Many people comment about 7 October as “the starting of the ending”. Military governance of Gen. Ayub Khan kept the Bengalis in a hard to breathe condition and this situation contributed to flourish the thinking of the nation about the liberty and a country with sovereignty. During this humiliated regime of Ayub Khan, Subedar Monem Khan created the ultimate record of inhumanity. Then Ayub Khan started the so called democracy. One of the breath taking events from 1958 to 1966 is collision of Pakistan with India and another is armed force attack in Kashmir and western part war. Eastern part of Pakistan at that time was fully unprotected. Many scholars and political thinkers thought if Pakistan could capture some more parts of Kashmir in the 17 days war of 1965, they would have come to a resolution by handing over then East Pakistan to India. Another event is to present 6 point demands.

This six-point demands comprised of demand for democracy, demand for autonomy/self governance, proposal for running dual currency and dual central banking system, demand for controlling and using the foreign currency by the concerned region itself (i.e. East Pakistan would use and control the foreign currency which would be earned by the export of resources of East Pakistan). Proposals were also made in those demands regarding establishing the Headquarter of any one of the military forces in East Pakistan and creating a Para-Militia Force consisting of one hundred thousand soldiers. West Pakistan knew that the ultimate effect of those 6-point demands was the freedom of the East Pakistan. As a result they stepped for uprooting the six-point demands. They wanted to divide in the party of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and thus they tried to make all efforts go in vein. Even they started a propaganda that those demands were a part of CIA plan and those were against the expectations of the industrious people, farmers and laborers of East Pakistan. In spite of having so many uneven conditions Sheikh Mujib did not become hopeless. Ayub Khan and Monem found out their way for oppressing Sheikh Mujib. Subedar Monem declared that Sheikh Mujib would be in jail as long as he (Monem) would be in power.

At the first of 1966, 6-points demand was declared. After returning in Dhaka, Sheikh Mujib got approval for the 6-points demand from the party congress declaring it as “Amader Bachar Daabi (Demands of living)”. From that day Pakistan Government started oppressing the Bengalis in the form of more exploitation, repeatedly arresting and jailing the people of East Pakistan. They pulled their steam roller of oppression and inhumanity throughout the country. Sheikh Mujib became stricter on the demands. But a fear attacked the people. Sheikh Mujib clearly portrayed the discrimination between east and west part of Pakistan through a story. This was as follows:

“A father had two sons. One was fool and another was shrewd and cunning. Before he died he left a blanket, a cow and a date-palm for his two sons and wanted to have distributed them equally. After the death of their father, the shrewd and cunning brother distributed them in such a way that foolish brother in his part had the front side of the cow, forepart of the date-palm and the right to keep the blanket in day-light”. As a result the foolish brother got no drop of milk, no date-juice at all and had no utility of the blanket in cool winter night. The days were passing away and the foolish brother was gradually becoming clever. He demanded his proper portion to his shrewd and cunning brother. But he failed to get any benefit. Then he started to teach his brother a good lesson. At first he tied the mouth of the cow, then he spread barbs around the forepart of the date-palm and at last he watered the blanket in day-light till evening”. Saying “What didn't happen after that” Sheikh Mujib used to tell “let us see what will happen”.

When the entire country woke up and people becoming rebellious against the discrimination, the central and provincial government permanently jail Sheikh Mujibur on May 1966. At the same time, many leaders and workers of all levels of Awami League were being arrested and throwing into jail. Staying at jail Sheikh Mujib ordered the students and young leaders to continue their movement. After taking all preparation, hartal was declared throughout the country on 7 June. Though huge students were involved in this movement, participation from the young leaders and the leaders of the workers was very much limited. In fact, the leaders who controlled the workers movement were in favor of Ayub Khan and against the 6-points demand. But when a worker who threw challenge, was shot in broad day-light, the workers of Tejgaon burst for movement. Thousands of students and workers started movement and halted the country. Nobody saw this type of hartal ever before in this country. That day throughout the country at least 11 workers including Munu Mia and Abul were killed. In the same day attempt was taken to arrest and kill the rebellious people in many parts of the country. In the afternoon of that day, leaders of students took final decision at Kurzon Hall for liberation. In fact, another 7 helped the nation to proceed one step ahead for our liberation. Awami League secured the highest seats in the election of 7 December, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib delivered his liberal speech on 7 March, 1971, he declared the independence of Bangladesh on 25 March (sum of digits of 25 is 7) and finally we have secured our victory on 16 December 1971 (sum of digits of 16 is 7). It seems that these all are puzzles of the digit 7. But it is a matter of regret that very few people are aware of it.

A System Eroding
The Justice Department has told Georgia that the state cannot impose its proof-of-citizenship requirements at the ballot box. The corrupting of American elections continues.

The order came only days before it was reported that Justice had decided in the middle of May it would drop a complaint against three members of the New Black Panther Party for Self-Defense. The men, who reportedly uttered racial slurs while dressed in paramilitary clothing, had been accused of intimidating voters on Election Day last year at a Philadelphia precinct.

The Washington Times says that "political appointees" at Justice "overruled career lawyers and ended a civil complaint." Federal authorities had charged King Samir Shabazz, who carried a nightstick at the voting precinct, Malik Zulu Shabazz and Jerry Jackson of violating the 1965 Voting Rights Act.

That same Justice Department told Georgia last week that it cannot check Social Security numbers and driver's license data to confirm U.S. citizenship of prospective voters. The department reasoned that the state's system was often inaccurate and has a "discriminatory effect."

But what could be more inaccurate than having no system at all to confirm that the people voting in American elections are truly Americans? We have to agree with Georgia Secretary of State Karen Handel, who said that "politics took priority over common sense and good public policy."

As far as we can tell, there is no organized effort anywhere to stop genuine citizens from voting -- unless the three men in Philadelphia whose actions have been officially condoned at the federal level can be considered an organized effort.

Yet it appears that Justice wants to make sure noncitizens have the same access to the American ballot box as citizens, and either doesn't care where that leads or is part of an attempt to make transformational changes to the U.S. system of government.

That same federal department, by dropping the case against members of the New Black Panther Party for Self-Defense, has also clearly indicated that groups willing to resort to violence, both real and implied, to hijack elections are free to harass Americans on their way to the voting booth.

No election system is flawless, but our method for placing officials in office is the cleanest the world has known. We have peaceful revolutions at regular intervals, and voters are confident that, despite its imperfections, the process delivers the best possible outcomes. Either by intent or accident, the Justice Department is undermining our faith in this unique system.

#2  It will go to SCOTUS with the conflicting ruling by the Appeals level on the Arizona case covering the same issue. Of course SCOTUS will have Ms. Wise on the panel by then. They could also continue to punish Georgia [and ten other former Confederate states] forty years and two generations after the Voters Rights Act [or a hundred and forty years after the last American Civil War] for actions of their ancestors. Some are more equal than others.

#3  Solution: We're going 'GREEN' accurizing, saving time and money! Ballots are no longer available at polling places. They will be mailed out with Georgia State income tax returns. You pay no taxes, sorry....no ticky no ride! Phuech you Justice Dept! Have a nice day.

Analysis: Arabs expect an Obama apology
[Jerusalem Post Middle East] "I think that the United States and the West generally, we have to educate ourselves more effectively on Islam. And one of the points I want to make is, is that if you actually took the number of Muslims Americans, we'd be one of the largest Muslim countries in the world. And so there's got to be a better dialogue and a better understanding between the two peoples" - President Barack Obama, according to a White House transcript of a BBC interview this week.

Obama's statement is questionable at the very least. First, there are an estimated 2.5 million to 3 million Muslims in the US, including African-American converts and immigrants. Second, the contribution of Islam to American civilization has been minimal. So I cannot see how America can be described as an important Islamic country.

It reminds me of Obama's inauguration speech, where he put Islam second to Christianity, with Judaism in third place, among the religious communities of America. This adds up to something that looks problematic. How can the president of the United States disregard the fundamental importance of the contribution of the Jewish community to American civilization and values?

The whole idea of Obama deciding to address the Muslim world is also problematic. The Arab media is touting it as a reconciliation speech and they are expecting him to "repent" or apologize for America behavior toward Islamic/Arab countries.

Some are already stating that whatever he says won't be good enough. Al-Qaida No. 2 Ayman al-Zawahiri called upon the Egyptians to reject Obama's speech even before it is delivered. The Muslim Brotherhood in Jordan issued a call to boycott Obama.

Yet we should ask ourselves whether the Muslims themselves should not apologize to the Americans for 9/11, and for countless terrorists attacks against US interest and citizens, the burning of its flags, the incitement of hatred and the distortion of history.

Regarding Egypt, Obama is in a quandary. Cairo is his main Arab ally in the Middle East. Egypt is still the most important Arab country and America needs its cooperation to maintain the peace with Israel and to contain Iran.

But what will the US president tell those Egyptians who are expecting stern words against dictatorship as well as encouragement of democracy and economic development? Obama will have to choose his words carefully to avoid angering President Mubarak while at the same time not disappointing the Egyptians.

Israel is also very much concerned. Will Obama put forward a peace plan that he intends to impose on Israel, or just speak in general terms about the need of both sides to negotiate?

It seems that he is going to be more specific - according to what he himself and some of his advisers have said lately about the Arab-Israeli conflict. And yet here again he has to know he is entering a potential minefield.
He has to know? Really? Are you perhaps imputing more intelligence and insight than has yet been on display?
An open confrontation with Israel would be detrimental not only to the deep-seated friendship of the two countries, but could have far reaching consequences for the stability of the Israeli government and of the country as a whole.
Not to mention the rest of the region, as have recent statements from various members of the Obama administration, including Himself.
Obama would like nothing better than to come out of this speech with one, an Arab coalition - Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and the Gulf countries - in order to confront Iran; two, satisfying the Arab masses in their quest for democracy and economic development; and three, some sort of formula to solve the conflict with the Palestinians.
I'd like a mated pair of unicorns, to start a breeding stable.
That seems as likely as President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Osama bin Laden or the Muslim Brotherhood changing their beliefs about Islam and the West.
The writer, a former ambassador to Egypt, is a fellow of the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Lion's Den: A rapid and harsh turn against Israel
The much-anticipated meeting between Barack Obama and Binyamin Netanyahu on May 18 went off smoothly, if a bit tensely, as predicted. Everyone was on best behavior and the event excited so little attention that The New York Times reported it on page 12.

As expected, however, the gloves came off immediately thereafter, with a series of tough American demands, especially Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's insistence on May 27 that the Netanyahu government end residential building in the West Bank and eastern Jerusalem.
Obama: Bare your neck to the blade.
This prompted a defiant response.
Bibi: No.
The governing coalition chairman pointed out the mistake of prior "American dictates," a minister compared Obama to pharaoh and the Government Press Office director cheekily mock-admired "the residents of Iroquois territory for assuming that they have a right to determine where Jews should live in Jerusalem."
Bibi (continues): How stupid do you want to make yourself look in front of your friends?
...EVEN IF one ignores the folly of focusing on Jerusalemites adding recreation rooms to their houses rather than Iranians adding centrifuges to their nuclear infrastructure and even if one overlooks the obvious counterproductivity of letting Abbas off the hook - the new US approach is doomed.
Bibi (continues): Merely stupid or really stupid? How cool will they think you are then?
...If Washington continues on its present course, the result may well be spectacular policy failure that manages both to weaken America's only strategic ally in the Middle East even as it worsens Arab-Israeli tensions.
I wouldn't bet on weaken

#1  My mother was just a young girl in her twenties who secretly typed underground literature on a typewriter and she risked her life for doing so. She could have ended up in a psychiatric hospital or in the Gulag as we well know and so this is what my parents stood for and they stood for freedom.

#2  Of course this is all suicide by endorsement - the first to go after the islamist terror network takes over is the intelligentsia that supported it.

#3  yeah, but let's be real. There will be plenty of Christians, Jews, homosexuals and others who will fill the trenches right along with them.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Analysis: Smoke, mirrors and fire in Lebanon
[Jerusalem Post Middle East] This week, nine more Lebanese citizens were arraigned on charges of espionage and collaboration with Israel. This brings the total of people charged in connection with the alleged Israeli "spy ring" in Lebanon to 35. Around 100 people have now been arrested in connection with the investigation. Among those charged are a former general, two Lebanese Army colonels and an official of the ruling March 14 movement.

Reliable information in such matters is, of course, extremely difficult to obtain. The Israeli authorities remain silent. There is a growing sense, however, confirmed by conversations with a number of former senior Israeli officials, that there is likely to be at least some factual basis behind the allegations.

A number of simple facts may immediately be noted: Firstly, it is no secret that the Israeli security services - Military Intelligence, Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) and the Mossad - are active in information gathering in Lebanon.

Secondly, the Lebanese security service which has been responsible for carrying out the investigation is the ISF (Internal Security Forces) led by Gen. Ashraf Rifi. Rifi, a Sunni, is generally considered in Lebanon to be pro-March 14, and had personal links to murdered former prime minister Rafiq Hariri. The ISF has benefited from US patronage and has been built up and expanded by March 14, (just as its rival, the General Security Directorate (GSD), is seen as linked to the Hizbullah-led opposition.)

It has been suggested in some international media outlets that the emerging revelations are the result of an attempt by Hizbullah and its allies to divert attention from recent evidence of Hizbullah involvement in a terror cell uncovered in Egypt.

The fact that Ziad Homsi, a former March 14 mayor, was among those arrested was used to bolster this claim.

The available evidence suggests that some of the information leading to the arrests came from Hizbullah. The location of some of the alleged spies in the Hizbullah-dominated south of the country further suggests the movement's likely involvement in tracking and apprehending the suspects.

But the central role of the ISF and Rifi in the investigation would militate against the notion that the affair is a fictional production laid on by Hizbullah and the opposition in order to discredit March 14.

According to one Israeli source, the sheer volume of evidence produced, and in particular the visual evidence displayed, further leads to the conclusion that there is something more than mere electoral provocations behind the affair. The reported departure of a number of individuals suspected of espionage across the heavily defended Israeli-Lebanese border also backs up the allegations.

Rifi himself, without entering into detail, claims that an unidentified technical breakthrough began the process of uncovering the Israeli network. Certainly, the ISF has undergone a marked improvement in its equipment and capabilities over the last couple of years. This has derived from an extensive program of EU and US security assistance to Lebanon, intended to improve the performance of the county's security forces.

The pre-2005 ISF was a neglected, stunted, largely ignored force with little capacity for gathering information. Only in the last two years has it become an organization that could be imagined pulling off a major intelligence coup.

Israeli security officials raised the possibility after 2005 that US military assistance to Lebanon might end up being used against Israel to benefit the common enemies of Washington and Jerusalem. It is distinctly possible that this is exactly what has taken place.

Given the close links of the ISF and March 14, it is also conceivable that the timing of the revelations was connected to next week's elections - designed to enable March 14 to clothe itself in patriotic finery, and depict itself as no less of a "resistance" force against Israel than Hizbullah.

One Israeli analyst suggested that the evidence regarding Israeli espionage in Lebanon might eventually rival those of the 1950s Lavon Affair in their importance. This claim was probably hyperbole. What appears to be emerging in Lebanon looks like a more mundane - though important - story of the uncovering of an information-gathering ring. Such an occurrence is an accepted, though unfortunate, turn of events for those involved in such activities.

Some hints in the media point to a problem in demarcating areas of operation between Israeli organizations as a contributing factor. The inevitably murky nature of such matters - magnified by the divided and complex nature of Lebanon - make the drawing of any firm conclusions a risky enterprise. But it does appear that behind the smoke and mirrors of this latest Lebanese affair, a solid outline is beginning to emerge.
