Europe
Spengler: Chutzpah in Strasbourg
[PJMedia] Chutzpah, an Aramaic word for unbridled effrontery, came to America via Yiddish. It's the man who enters a revolving door after you and comes out first. It's the fellow who murdered his parents and asks for clemency because he's an orphan. And now it's the backers of an unelected supranational European government casting a vote of censure against Hungary.

...The unelected European Commission, with members appointed by governments that represent a minority of their voters, ordered Hungary to accept its quota of so-called refugees, and Hungary refused. Last year it ordered Poland to rescind a judicial reform that gives the elected legislature a modicum of authority over appointed judges, many of whom retain lifetime appointments from the Communist era. Poland and Hungary refused the imperial decree from the bureaucrats of Brussels, and for this, both countries faced the censure of the European Parliament.

The European Parliament vote also sends a message to President Trump, who has made clear his disapproval of Europe's migration policy, as well as its failure to fund its own defense. By contrast, the Trump administration has a friend in Orban, as the New York Times complained last month. It also reflects European animosity toward Israel, which has an ally in the Orban government. Above all, the vote expresses the rancor of an unpopular European elite whose hold on power is tenuous, and for whom Mr. Orban's success appears as a portent of doom.

#1  Just a matter of time when the people of the EU nations will realize this fraud in Brussels is over...pretty much the walking dead now.

I still can't help but think of the independence movement in Catalonia. Brussels was silent (conversely, supporting the national government in Madrid). I can only imagine the "out-cry" out of Bruxelles if a similar thing happened in Putin's Russia.

Shift to right leaves Europe in an uncomfortable position
[ARABNEWS] Ever since the big wave of migration into Europe
...also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
in 2015, the political landscape has irreversibly changed. Although migration is down by about 90 percent from where it was during that summer and autumn, the political discourse is still dominated by migration and how to integrate migrants colonists and refugees who hail from different cultures.

There was a move to the right on the continent before that, but the migration debate has brought many "alt-right" parties to the fore.

Karin McQuillen: Why Black Voters Are Turning to Trump
[AG] The growing positive attitude of black voters towards President Trump is the wildcard in the coming midterm elections. It is real and it is expanding. Polls are showing anywhere from 20 percent to 36 percent of blacks approve of President Trump. The Democrats even may have lost 11 percent of black women.

The cracks in the black Democrat bloc voting are one of the most consequential results of Barack Obama’s presidency and the phenomenal effectiveness of President Trump’s pro-business policies. This could be a historic turning point.

MEASURABLE PROGRESS
Trump’s economic policies have improved the lives of black Americans, just as he promised they would during the election. Unlike Obama’s media hype, Trump’s progress is as real and as solid as his buildings. Black unemployment continues to fall. Good manufacturing jobs are coming back. Paychecks are rising, too.

The roots of this political watershed in the black community are more complex than job figures and will last beyond Trump’s tenure. I have been listening for hours to ordinary black Americans on the #Walkaway movement’s YouTube channel. This is a movement of former Democrats explaining why they are leaving their party. While each face, voice, and story is unique and fascinating, there are some striking recurring themes.

Ironically, the change seems to have started with President Obama’s election.

President Obama raised the hopes of black Americans to the highest they’ve been since Martin Luther King. The entire country expected he would devote himself to getting blacks better schools, more jobs, higher wages, and safer neighborhoods. Instead, Obama ignored those bread-and-butter needs. His signature initiative was to send Eric Holder to stoke up publicity and fear in the wake of the Trayvon Martin and Michael Brown shootings.

In the short term, hyping fake white racism and police brutality worked to stanch the bleeding in black turnout in the 2012 election. In the long term, however, Obama’s reliance on racial fear and grievance increased black suffering. He broke people’s hearts and blew up many black voters’ loyalty to the Democrats.

Rage, Rage, Against the Dying of the Dream
h/t Instapundit
[AmGreatness] Homer’s Muse sings of the rage of Achilles, brought forth from his tent by the death of his friend Patroclus to engage the Trojan hero, Hector, in mortal combat. But Achilles’ anger solves nothing; although he kills Hector, he then desecrates the body by dragging it around the walls of Troy, thus violating the laws of warfare and sealing his own fate. His determination to avenge his friend thus becomes "the accursed rage that brought great suffering to the Achaeans." In the end, it’s not the rage of Achilles that wins the war for the Greeks, but the trickery of Odysseus that finagles the wooden horse inside the impregnable gates of Ilium.

We are witnessing a similar self-destructive rage today: the rage of the American Left against the Trump Administration in general and the president in particular, an explosion of frustrated, impotent (but still dangerous) anger that has given up all pretense of genuine protest‐against the results of a duly constituted American election, let us remember‐and has devolved instead into a toddler’s extended tantrum. It bears the hallmarks of one of the most unseemly displays in American political history.
I guess electing and reelecting somebody totally devoid of any ability like Obama, did make them think that USA is their bitch

Mercer: Yellow Journalism of Yellow-Bellied Bob Woodward & the NYT
[Unz] It takes no time at all. You listen to Bob Woodward’s halting speech. You read his lumpen prose, and you get right away what undergirds his Trump-phobic tome, "Fear: Trump in the White House."

Naively, the president had expected to fulfill his revolutionary campaign promises to the American voters, an assumption that threw Woodward and the D.C. elites for a loop.

If past is prologue, voters don’t‐and should not‐get their way. After all, the views of Trump voters on American power are polar opposites of those held by the permanent state.

What does "Boobus Americanus" know? Nothing!

Woodward and the New York Times’ anonymous anti-Trump whistleblower consider the president to be stark raving bonkers for not grasping that Rome on the Potomac moves to its own beat. It does not respond to voters, except to mollify them with "bread and circuses."

Mostly reflexively, not always consciously, The Powers That Be seek to retain and enlarge their sphere of influence. Nothing, not even the venerated vote, is allowed to alter that "balance."

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Iran steps up quest to dominate Iraq with attack on Kurds
[ARABNEWS] Although Iran’s rising influence in the region is in the spotlight, Tehran’s treatment of Kurds has been receiving less attention. Interactions between the Iranian regime and the Kurdish population have been mainly subject to political polemics rather than scholarly work.

Iran has ratcheted up its anti-Kurdish policy in recent months. Most recently, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) attacked a Kurdish base in Koysinjaq, located east of Irbil in northern Iraq, killing at least 12 people and wounding 50 others. According to a statement by the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan (PDKI), "Iran used long-range missiles in a coordinated attack on PDKI’s bases and adjacent refugee camps."

The Iranian regime strikes also hit the headquarters of a different Kurdish group, the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran (KDPI).

NFL Owner Blasts President Trump On His National Anthem Stance
[Date Line Hollywood] Carolina Panthers owner and hedge fund mogul David Tepper has slammed President Trump regarding his national anthem protests stance.

Speaking to CNBC, Tepper ‐ who bought the Panthers for $2.2 billion in May ‐ said the attacks on players who protest during the national anthem is "the biggest pile of bull-dinky ever."

Although Tepper didn’t specifically name President Trump, it was clear whom he was talking about, referring to "Howdy-Doody" and "the red-headed guy in DC" during the interview.

Tepper called NFL player the "most patriotic people" in the country, noting their substantial charitable contributions. He recited the Pledge of Allegiance, putting emphasis on the words "and justice for all."

President Trump has been an outspoken opponent of players kneeling, raising a fit, sitting or otherwise protesting during the playing of the national anthem. On Sunday, Trump tweeted, "If the players stood proudly for our Flag and Anthem, and it is all shown on broadcast, maybe ratings could come back? Otherwise worse!"

Tepper has been an outspoken opponent of the President on other issues as well, so his remarks were not out of step with his past observations, although it broke ranks with other NFL owners, who have largely tried to avoid the President on the issue.

#1  Tepper called NFL player the "most patriotic people" in the country, noting their substantial charitable contributions.

Attempting a little old fashioned virtue signalling as he cashes his $2.2B per year paycheck. Nice try Mr. Tepper, but I don't think the viewing public is buying.

#5  Your product sucks Davy, and is not necessary.

And ginger shaming....tut tut my poor man.

And note..I had a chance to watch the great big really cool Gruden comeback game. Flogging sucked. Especially the announces; not sure who the hype man was except awful. Like listening to Bob Costas host an auction.

#6  Seems as if the USFL was way ahead of their time. If they appeared now, without the virtue signaling or any other politics, they might get some serious traction.

#7  We live in the Charlotte area and commented that Jerry Richardson (former owner) probably sold out at the peak. Since there were allgations of sexual misconduct, he had no problem getting the league to agree to the sale.

But with declining TV ratings, injuries, and stupid political stunts, I think Jerry will laugh a lot longer than David Tepper.

By the way, David, you are now in the South. We are patriotic down here. Please consult your Marketing department before making any more comments like this.

#8  F*** the National Fing Losers. All your teams should kneel, kneel like slaves they are. Kneel because they unworthy to be called free men. Kneel before your betters and demonstrate your loyalty to your worthless masters in the Democrat party.
