...NukeMap is actually a useful tool, but it has one fairly serious drawback - it doesn't allow for terrain effects at all, which skews the results pretty thoroughly. However, as I said, it is useful and helpful in giving you an idea of what happens when The Big One arrives.

Those things have been around for almost 50 years - maybe more. I was stationed at the Pentagon in 1971 and remember reading an article of what would happen if a nuclear blast happened over the Washington Monument. (At the distance, the skin of my car would have been melted.)

[Daily Caller] Democrats in Virginia may override local zoning to bring high-density housing, including public housing, to every neighborhood statewide ‐ whether residents want it or not.
The measure could quickly transform the suburban lifestyle enjoyed by millions, permitting duplexes to be built on suburban lots in neighborhoods previously consisting of quiet streets and open green spaces. Proponents of "upzoning" say the changes are necessary because suburbs are bastions of segregation and elitism, as well as bad for the environment.
The move, which aims to provide "affordable housing," might be fiercely opposed by local officials throughout the state, who have deliberately created and preserved neighborhoods with particular character ‐ some dense and walkable, others semi-rural and private ‐ to accommodate people’s various preferences.
But Democrats tout a state-level law’s ability to replace "not in my backyard" with "yes, in your backyard."
House Delegate Ibraheem Samirah,
...the Joo-hating, Chicago-born, Palestinian-American dentist who spent his teen years in Jordan after his illegal immigrant father, Dr. Sabri Ibrahim Samirah, chair of the Hamas-linked Islamic Association of Palestine and a leader in the Jordanian Muslim Brotherhood, was barred in 2002 from re-entering the U.S. before being allowed back in 2010. In his own dawah outreach, this friend of Rep. Rashida Tlaib joined a Jewish fraternity as a poli sci undergrad, was an activist for Students for Justice in Palestine while in dental school, and has since become an advocate for BDS...
a Democrat, introduced six housing measures Dec. 19, coinciding with Democrats’ takeover of the state legislature in November.
"Single-family housing zones would become two-zoned," Samirah told the Daily Caller News Foundation. "Areas that would be impacted most would be the suburbs that have not done their part in helping out."
"The real issues are the areas in between very dense areas which are single-family zoned. Those are the areas that the state is having significant trouble dealing with. They’re living in a bubble," he said.
He said suburbs were "mostly white and wealthy" and that their local officials ‐ who have historically been in charge of zoning ‐ were ignoring the desires of poor people, who did not have time to lobby them to increase suburban density.
I am continually amazed at the Democrats' unique ability of seriously proposing galaxy-level stupid, unworkable ideas & policies (e.g, the Green New Deal) combined with strong totalitarian attributes, done under the guise of fairness and, oh yes, the ever precious diversity.
Plus, it's a nonstarter - where's all that money going to come from? Are they going to compel real estate developers to do this when they would otherwise not build them? You Dems gonna put a fuckin' gun to their head or something? These bastards need to be thrown out of office and down a huge flight of stairs.
To which we can add:
Suburbs = "toxic sprawl"
Single-family suburban homes with yards = like, fascism dude
Cars, highways, gasoline = agents of the counter-revolution that Must Be Destroyed
White males = phallocratic felons
Guns = signs of the devil
Founders of the American Republic = war criminals
[ABC] - A Texas resident grabbed his shotgun and shot and killed three men when they allegedly broke into his home, authorities said.
Early Monday morning, one of the two residents of a trailer home in Channelview -- about 20 miles east of Houston -- heard a "commotion" outside, according to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez. He then saw several men in dark clothing -- possibly one armed -- force their way inside, the sheriff said at a news conference.
That resident ran to hide, while his roommate, armed with a shotgun, exchanged gunfire with the suspects, Gonzalez said.
During the exchange of gunfire, one of the residents was shot and was hospitalized in unknown condition.
"We're told it's serious. But he's going to be going into surgery so we're not exactly sure of his condition," the sheriff said.
...The second resident was not hurt, Gonzalez said.
The case will most likely be referred to the grand jury, he said.
"A person does have the right to defend themselves if that's what the facts are," the sheriff said. "We'll have to confirm that. Everything is preliminary."
It's not clear why the suspects targeted this home, the sheriff said.
"If it turns out that that's what they were doing -- breaking into someone's home -- regardless of the circumstances, crime doesn't pay," Gonzalez said. "Eventually you're going to end up dead or end up in jail, most likely."
I agree, those are never going to 'buff out.' As an interim measure, I recommend 90 mph tape to keep the moisture and weather out. Professional aluminum skin patching should produce acceptable results.
[ToloNews] The men are believed to work for Commander Wase, and residents say such threatening behavior is not new.
Unknown gunnies on Monday night shot up a health center in PD5 in Kabul, a number of eyewitnesses said on Tuesday.
The gunnies, who apparently belong to Commander Wase, a local strongman, have also warned that the residents should evacuate their homes, the residents claimed.
"Wase is not letting us live in peace. This is not the first time--he has threatened us with death several times," said Raz Mohammad, a resident in PD5 of Kabul.
"Over the past 20 years, six to seven hundred acres of land have been grabbed and were sold," said Ajab Gul, a resident in Kabul.
"The government never took action against the illegal gangs and instead supported them and, in some cases, created them," said Abdul Mohammad, the owner of the health center.
But Wase has rejected the allegations, saying the land where the health center was been built was his personal property and it has been grabbed by a man named Jannat Gul.
"Why should someone build a health center on my land? I asked the bullying man over the past seventeen years to come and give me my money or divide the land," said Wase in a telephone interview with TOLOnews.
Some residents said that the Kabul police failed to provide security to the public.
Be not amazed, dear Reader. As you read further, you will discover they forfeited their deposit — which is startling enough.

[Breitbart] Shoppers gave retailers a massive boost Saturday by making it the biggest sales day in U.S. retail history.
Super Saturday sales reached $34.4 billion thanks to a booming economy and more jobs, according to retail research firm Customer Growth Partners.
"Paced by the ’Big Four’ mega-retailers ‐ Walmart, Amazon, Costco and Target ‐ Super Saturday was boosted by the best traffic our team has seen in years," said the firm’s president, Craig Johnson.
Johnson noted that stronger household finances have "put consumers in a buying mood this season," adding that more of them are shopping online, which has accounted for a 58 percent sales growth compared to last year.
The weekend record beat out Black Friday’s $31.2 billion and Cyber Monday’s $19.1 billion, a Fox Business report said.
