[Breitbart] A Florida man who used a shock collar and other implements including a BB gun to torture his girlfriend’s two-year-old daughter was found hanged in his jail cell, police say.
Andrew Bennett Ross Celauis, 37, attempted to commit suicide in his jail cell on May one and ultimately died at a hospital from his attempt on May 7, according to the Associated Press.
Celauis was arrested on April nine and charged with abusing the girl after her mother brought her to the hospital to be treated for ringworm marks that later turned out to be burn marks.
After a police investigation, officials accused Celauis of abusing the child unbeknown to the mother. The investigation found that Celauis shot BBs at the girl, put a shock collar on her and electrocuted her repeatedly, and even jumped on her bed wearing a werewolf mask and waking her from sleep to frighten her. Police also said that he made the girl wear the shock collar to bed and waited until she was asleep to begin shocking her.
Despite the suspect’s suicide, police are continuing the investigation into the abuse. "We’re looking for any additional victims, and anyone who might have had knowledge of the crimes being committed and failed to report them," Escambia County Sheriff David Morgan said.
Morgan also warned that if someone knew about Celauis’ abuse of the girl, they, too, can be prosecuted for the abuse. "We’ll continue with this case, and if we find out there are those who failed to report the abuse of children, they may be facing charges, too," he said.

The state of Florida ran a somewhat similar operation in the name of "juvenile justice" for many years. Nobody has been legally sanctioned for involvement in it ever...

NORWALK, Conn. (AP) ‐ Jim Fowler, a naturalist who rose to fame on the long-running television program "Wild Kingdom" and who famously bantered with Johnny Carson on "The Tonight Show," has died. He was 89.
Fowler died peacefully Wednesday at his home in Norwalk, Connecticut, surrounded by family, said Jennifer Whitney, a spokeswoman for Mutual of Omaha, which sponsored the show.
"Jim was one in a million, and with his passing we’ve lost a true wildlife icon," she said in an email. "His memory will remain through the work he did on Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom, as well as through the many parks, wildlife centers and nature preserves to which he lent his expertise. But perhaps his most important legacy will be the role he played in inspiring the next generation of naturalists and wildlife experts."
"Wild Kingdom" debuted in 1963. Fowler began as an assistant and later became a co-host with Marlin Perkins before taking over as host.
Fowler had his arm swallowed by an anaconda and was charged by a gorilla and other creatures.

[Aljazeera] A boat carrying scores of refugees and migrants has capsized in the Mediterranean Sea off the coast of Tunisia, killing at least 65 people, according to the United Nations refugee agency (UNHCR).
UNHCR said in a statement on Friday that 16 survivors were pulled from the water after the vessel sank "in one of the worst incidents on the Mediterranean in months".
"This is a tragic and terrible reminder of the risks still faced by those who attempt to cross the Mediterranean," said Vincent Cochetel, UNHCR's special envoy for the Mediterranean.
Only four bodies have been recovered so far and search operations were ongoing, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) said in a Twitter post.
Around 60 migrants colonists most of them from Bangladesh have died after their boat capsized in the Mediterranean Sea after it left Libya for Italia, the Tunisian Red Islamic Thingy said Saturday.
Survivors told the Red Islamic Thingy the tragedy unfolded after some 75 people who had left Zuwara on the northwestern Libyan coast late Thursday on a large boat were transferred to a smaller one that sank off Tunisia.
"The migrants colonists were transferred into a smaller inflatable boat which was overloaded, and 10 minutes later it sank," Mongi Slim, a Red Islamic Thingy official in the southern Tunisian town of Zarzis, told AFP.
The survivors said they spent eight hours trapped in the cold sea before they were spotted by the fishermen who alerted the Tunisian coastguard, Slim said.
Survivors said the boat was heading to Italia and had on board only men, 51 from Bangladesh, as well as three Egyptians, several Moroccans, Chadians and other Africans.
Fourteen Bangladeshi nationals, including a minor, were among the survivors, said the Red Islamic Thingy.
Charity ships have plied the Mediterranean Sea to rescue migrants colonists in large numbers but the number of rescue operations have dwindled as these vessels have come under fire, namely from the populist Italian government, over their action.
On Friday, however, more than 60 migrants colonists disembarked in Italia after two boats which had left Libya faced difficulties at sea and needed assistance.
According to the UNHCR, the journey across the Mediterranean "is becoming increasingly fatal for those who risk it".
"In the first four months of this year, one person has died (crossing the Mediterranean) for every three that have reached European shores, after departing from Libya," it said.
[Dhaka Tribune] A 15-year-old girl has allegedly been raped and impregnated by her stepfather in Sadullapur, Gaibandha.
The incident came to light as the girl came to Sadullapur cop shoppe with her stepfather, Idris Ali, 48, to file a rape case against Masud Mia, 18, with whom the girl had reportedly had a physical relationship.
According to police, Idris Ali alias Chengtu, Member Union Gay Pareehad (UP) of Bhatgram Union, married the girl's mother in 2018. After repeatedly raping the girl, she fell pregnant three months ago. Idris made her abort the child and later impregnated her again. To cover up his actions, Idris planned a case against Masud, the reported lover of the girl who was also engaged in raping the girl.
Speaking to Dhaka Tribune, Officer-in-Charge of Sadullapur cop shoppe, Mostafizur Rahman said: "As the victim came to file the case with her stepfather Idris, their confession seemed suspicious. When we questioned the victim we got some crucial details that led to the discovery that not only Masud, but Idris was also engaged in this rape case."
"Later the girl filed separate cases against both of them."

[Dhaka Tribune] Former Sonagazi cop shoppe OC Moazzem Hossain has been temporarily suspended and attached to the Rangpur Range.
Additional Inspector General (AIG) Sohel Rana, of the media and public relations branch of the Police Headquarters, confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune on Friday.
Moazzem had been previously withdrawn from Sonagazi cop shoppe and transferred to the Armed Police Battalion (APBn) on April 10. His subsequent suspension came following a report filed by a probe committee formed by the Police Headquarters on April 13, to investigate madrasa student Nusrat Jahan Rafi's death.
Nusrat, an Alim examinee and a student of Songazi Islamia Fazil (Degree) Madrasa, died on April 10, from injuries she received after supporters of the madrasa's principal, Md Sirjaddaula, set her on fire at the madrasa premises on April 6.
Nusrat had previously lodged a sexual harassment complaint against Sirajaddaula on March 27, with the Sonagazi cop shoppe, after which he was locked away Youse'll never take me alive coppers!... [BANG!]... Ow!... I quit! and placed in durance vile Drop the heater, Studs, or you're hist'try! . She was set on fire after Sirajaddaula's associates failed to intimidate her into withdrawing the complaint.
Moazzam, the then OC of Sonagazi cop shoppe, instead of heeding Nusrat's pleas for help, recorded the whole incident, and spread it via social media. A case was filed against him under the Digital Security Act.
According to the probe committee's report‐submitted on April 30‐the OC had conspired with Sonagazi upazila Awami League President, Ruhul Amin, to fabricate Nusrat's attack as a suicide attempt.

Getting rid of guns didn't remove murderous impulses. It just made the whole process less efficient and more resource-intensive. Those dang unforeseen consequences!

[Ynet] The three new missiles North Korean leader Kim Pudge Jong-un ...the overweight, pouty-looking hereditary potentate of North Korea. Pudge appears to believe in his own divinity, but has yet to produce any loaves and fishes, so his subjects remain malnourished... has tested over the past week are eerily familiar to military experts: They look just like a controversial and widely copied missile the Russian military has deployed to Syria and has been actively trying to sell abroad for years.
Ending a pause in ballistic missile launches that began in late 2017, and alarming North Korea's neighbors, Kim personally supervised the launch of the first missile from the country's east coast on Saturday and two more from the west on Thursday. All splashed down in the Pacific.
The missiles were short-range and the launches do not mean Kim has decided to end his self-imposed moratorium on testing long-range missiles that could reach the United States mainland. They do indicate, however, that Kim is methodically expanding the battle readiness of his missile forces and that could have a major impact on the safety of American allies and U.S. forces in the region.
The missiles bear a strong resemblance to the Russian-designed Iskander, a short-range, nuclear-capable ballistic missile that has been in the Russian arsenal for more than a decade.
"There are Russian technology fingerprints all over it," said Marcus Schiller, a leading expert on North Korean missiles who is based in Germany.
[DAWN] The Lahore High Court on Friday ordered the SHO of Kunjah, Gujarat to recover and present a 20-year-old woman who was allegedly kidnapped for vani (the exchange of women as consideration for compounding disputes/offences) while hearing a petition registered for her recovery.
Justice Farooq Haider heard the petition, which was registered by a close relative of the woman through Advocate Imran Ghuman on May 8.
According to the lawyer, the abducted woman's father had fled to Britain due to a personal dispute in Darra Adam Khel while the girl was living with her mother in Lahore.
He said that the 20-year-old victim was kidnapped two days prior to the petition being filed by five people from Darra Adam Khel.
The abduction seems to be connected to an incident in 2016, when, on gunpoint, a jirga had made the petitioner assure the vani of two girls.
While asking the court to recover the abducted woman and not permit her vani to take place, the petition stated that if she was not recovered, the people in Darra Adam Khel would take her to Khyber Pakthunkhwa and she would be forcibly married off.
Vani (Urdu: ونی), or Swara (سوارہ), is a cultural custom found in parts of Pakistan and Afghanistan whereby a young girl is married as punishment for some crime committed by her male relatives.[1] Vani is a form of arranged child marriage,[2] and the result of punishment decided by a council of tribal elders named jirga.[3][4] It is tied to blood feuds among the different tribes and clans and is most common among Pashtuns. Vani is sometimes spelled as Wani or Wanni. It is a Pashto word derived from vanay which means blood. It is also known as Sak and Sangchatti (سنگ چتی) in different regional languages of India.[5][6][7] Some claim Vani can be avoided if the clan of the girl agrees to pay money, called Deet (دیت).
The custom became illegal in Pakistan between 2005 and 2011,[8] however, it still continues.[9] Recently[when?] the courts in Pakistan have begun taking serious note and action against the continuation of the practice.[10]

My god - look at that massive carbon footprint!
[Climate Depot] - Drake has gotten himself a gigantic plane. ‐ Via Daily Caller ‐ The superstar rapper showed off his plane, called "Air Drake," on Instagram Friday, and it’s downright absurd. The interior is absolutely massive, and he points out that it’s not a "timeshare" or "rental." It’s just all his.
The private jet ownership is despite his efforts to campaign against climate change in his songs. With song lyrics that include: "[They’re] talkin’ bout how the weather’s changing / the ice is melting / like the world is ending," you would think he would try to live a low carbon lifestyle, but alas.
Flashback: Drake’s climate change epiphany ‐ He uses the song as a platform to rail against climate change and examine his own complicity in the ongoing degradation of the natural world...
Drake slips in: ’[they’re] talkin’ bout how the weather’s changing / the ice is melting / like the world is ending.’ One might, perhaps, assume Drake is referring to the usual ice melting in post-winter Toronto; especially given the line’s casual delivery and the beat-drop of the bridge that follows immediately after, as if forgetting he said it at all. But as we drop off this icy berg into the bridge ‐ ’She asks me, "who are you gonna be, when it’s all over, when it’s all over?"’ ‐ it is apparent that Drake’s simple moment of contemplation has had a transformative effect....
He enters a state of existential reflection, with a realization of his impending mortality: what will be the intrinsic value of his music, if the ice caps melt and the world is no longer sustainable? Or perhaps more pertinently, he realises that with his stadium-sized cultural standing, and ability to impact on the world at large, he is in an undeniable position of power to enact meaningful change and ensure the survival of the planet’s ecosystem ‐ a network nearly as complicated, beautiful, and wonderfully diverse as Drake himself.
