[WWMT.com] COLON, Mich. ‐ Anyone who has ever taken an Uber ride knows it's convenient and very popular so one man in St. Joseph County has found a way to make ride sharing more scenic. Timothy Hochstedler calls it Amish Uber.
He is adding some horsepower to ride sharing. The newest taxi service in Colon has four wheels, four legs and good gas mileage. Inside his horse and buggy, people share a ride and Hochstedler gets to share some stories. Everyone's happy.
"Uber is a cool thing, every single year something new comes in and Uber is hot right now, so we have the Amish Uber. We can deliver people to their front door steps," Hochstedler said.
So far, people are loving it.
"First time Ubering and we're riding in a buggy," said Steve Phelps, an Amish Uber rider.
Bruce Jordan and his grandkids took a ride after traveling from Grand Rapids. "It was fascinating. It's not an activity you typically associate with the Amish," Jordan said.
No car? No problem for Hochstedler. His engine, a horse, has a lot more character.

I was under the impression that the Amish eschew modern technologies. Sp if the driver use a cell phone to find rides, then it's not a real Amish experience, it's just a buggy ride.
[FoxNews] An armed bystander shot a man who opened fire at a Florida park filled with over 100 people -- including children -- for a Saturday back-to-school cookout, officials said.
The Titusville Police Department said in a news release the man was involved in a fistfight with another person at the Issac Campbell Park and left around 5:20 p.m. -- only to return with a gun minutes later and start shooting.
A bystander, who was lawfully licensed to carry a firearm, then shot the gunman.
“We are extremely grateful that nobody else was injured in this incident,” Deputy Chief Todd Hutchinson said in a statement. “This suspect opened fire at a crowded public park. This could have been so much worse.”
The gunman, whose firearm was recovered at the scene, was airlifted to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. No one else was injured during the shootout.
The bystander who shot the suspect waited for officers and has been fully cooperative with the investigation, police said. Neither the shooter nor the bystander have been identified.
Matthews said no charges are expected to be filed against the bystander, as his actions were "within the law based on the preliminary investigation."

"It was the soldiers, they are still out there. We are even scared of going out." A woman passing by the shop, who said one of her domestic staff lived in the town, was aghast at news of the beatings.
"It’s horrible. But I didn’t think this sort of thing would end when Mugabe went, no," said the pensioner, who declined to be named.
For Christine, Mnangagwa ‐ nicknamed "The Crocodile" ‐ is "the most dangerous one", perhaps more so than Mugabe.
"When he came, people knew it was the change of the bus driver ‐ but the bus was the same," she said.

[ARABNEWS] Brazil closed its northern border to Venezuelans on Monday to slow mass migration from the South American country saddled with a crippling political and economic crisis, police said.
The measure follows a federal judge’s decision on Sunday that puts a stop to the entry of more Venezuelans until a greater number of immigrants colonists from the economically beset South American nation are transferred elsewhere in Brazil.
The border remains open to Brazilians and other nationalities, as well as to Venezuelans seeking to return to their home country, officials said.
It’s a main crossing point for tens of thousands of Venezuelan migrants colonists, an influx that has increased dramatically over the past two years.
While the suspension is indefinite, the Brazilian administration is seeking to overturn or halt the ruling.
President Michel Temer is opposed in a "non-negotiable" way to the border closure, Human Rights Minister Gustavo Rocha was quoted as saying by state-run Agencia Brasil.
Roraima state’s capital Boa Vista has hosted the largest number of Venezuelan immigrants colonists in the country ‐ around 25,000 out of a total of 330,000 city dwellers.

[DAWN] PML-N spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb on Monday said that all opposition parties have unanimously accepted PML-N Chairman Shahbaz Sharif ...Pak dynastic politician, brother of PM Nawaz Sharif, chief minister of Punjab... as their nominee for the office of prime minister.
The decision was first made in All Parties Conference (APC), which was held in Islamabad on Thursday in the wake of the alleged rigging during the July 25 elections.
It had been decided in the meeting that the prime minister nominee shall be appointed from the PML-N, the speaker of National Assembly nominee from the PPP and that of deputy speaker from the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA).
Talking to media persons, the former information minister also said that opposition parties have decided to pen a whitepaper on the "blatant rigging" that took place in these elections.
"We will protest outside the Election Commission of Pakistain's office in Islamabad. Ticket holders and members of all political parties will take part in the protest," Aurangzeb said while adding that the protest will also be against media censorship.
"If the 120-day-long dharna can be covered, why can't peoples' concerns be aired on TV?" she asked while reminding people that Imran Khan ... aka Taliban Khan, who who convinced himself that playing cricket qualified him to lead a nuclear-armed nation with severe personality problems... had promised to conduct a recount in any constituency that any political party had reservations in.

[DAWN] LAHORE: The police claimed on Sunday to have incarcerated Into the paddy wagon wit' yez! two suspects involved in torturing a National College of Arts (NCA) student to death over a minor dispute.
Qutub Rind, 32, of Jacobabad, Sindh, was studying at NCA and was living in a rented flat in Rajgarh.
On July 17, landlord of the flat, identified as Ahsan, approached Qutub and demanded next month’s rent of the quarters. Qutub told him that he had already paid the rent and would pay the next month’s rent on the date given in the agreement.
The landlord got angry. He called his brother, Waqas Ali, and another accomplice and started beating Qutub with a rod and later pushed him down from the third floor of the house.
The victim suffered critical injuries and was taken to the Services Hospital where he departed this vale of tears.
Sanda police, on the complaint of Qutub’s paternal uncle, Gul Beg Rind, started the paperwork but haven't done much else against three suspects, Ahsan Ali, his brother Waqas Ali and an unidentified person. The family took the body to their native town of Jacobabad.
Now a social media campaign has been launched on Facebook and Twitter by the friends and relatives of Qutub, more than two weeks after the alleged crime.
According to them, the suspects had first leveled blasphemy allegation against the victim and later a mob gathered and killed him.
Victim’s uncle Gul Beg Rind told Dawn by phone that his nephew was killed by the owner of the flat, his brother and an unidentified accomplice. He said the police had arrested two of the suspects and one of them had started leveling allegations against Qutub, saying they had killed him for committing blasphemy. He said the suspects were leveling false allegations and his nephew was murdered over a dispute on rent payment.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Investigations Awais Malik also confirmed to Dawn that Qutub was killed over dispute on payment of rent.

[CNN] NFL fans will see history made this season, and it has nothing to do with what goes on between the goalposts.
The Los Angeles Rams and the New Orleans Saints will have male cheerleaders dancing on their squads for the first time. Dancers Quinton Peron and Napoleon Jinnies have been preparing for the NFL season since they made the Rams cheerleading squad in March.
"Still can't believe I'm one of the first males in history to be a pro NFL cheerleader!" Jinnies tweeted after being selected.
Other teams, like the Indianapolis Colts and the Baltimore Ravens, have stuntmen, USA Today reported, but Peron and Jinnies will be dancing alongside their female teammates and doing the same moves.

The NFL isn't doing much draw their old audience back. Kinda pushing it away even farther and making the remaining viewers wonder why they spend so much of their Sundays watching this crap.

There is a robust tradition of co-ed cheerleading squads at the high school and college levels. Having big, strong guys allows for far more challenging gymnastics and pyramid formation, and a lot less s3xy dancing. See this for a recent example.
I can’t imagine that little, effeminate guys will be the standard for long, not with so many experienced male cheerleaders around who will make the girls on the squads much happier.

Earlier, Ed wrote about Twitter coming after Candace Owens for quoting NY Times hire Sarah Jeong’s tweets (but replacing the word "white" with "Jewish"). Twitter apologized after realizing they had helped make Owens’ point. But Owens was involved in some more drama this morning. She and fellow Turning Point USA leader Charlie Kirk were having breakfast at a cafe in Philadelphia when they were surrounded by a screeching mob. Darth, that's the plan. The Prog organizers keep upping the ante, trying to incite a deadly response by anybody they can blame on Trump. They need a martyr for the campaign and will do whatever it takes to get one - eventually even if they have to pull the trigger under a false flag.
