Georgia man pleads guilty to plotting rocket attack on White House
[THEGUARDIAN] A Georgia man accused of plotting to attack the White House with an anti-tank rocket and explosives has pleaded guilty to a federal charge.

Hasher Jallal Taheb, 23, pleaded guilty on Wednesday to a charge of attempting to destroy, by fire or an explosive, a building owned by or leased to the United States, federal prosecutors said.

"Taheb hatched a dangerous plan that would have resulted in unimaginable injury," US attorney Byung J "BJay" Pak said in an emailed statement. "We are grateful to community members who noticed his dangerous evolution and alerted law enforcement."

Local law enforcement contacted the FBI in March 2018 after getting a tip from a community member saying Taheb had adopted radical ideas.

In conversations with undercover federal Sherlocks in October 2018, Taheb mentioned plans to travel overseas and wanting to attack the White House and the Statue of Liberty, prosecutors said. During meetings in December 2018, he broadened his potential targets in the Washington DC area to also include the Washington Monument, the Lincoln Memorial and a synagogue.

He then produced sketches he had made of the White House, described a detailed plan to attack it and described weapons and explosives he wanted to use, including semi-automatic weapons, improvised bombs, an anti-tank weapon and hand grenades.

Federal agents arrested Taheb on 16 January 2019 when he showed up for a meeting with an undercover agent and an FBI source thinking they were going to rent a car and trade their vehicles for weapons, with the intention of driving to Washington DC to carry out the attack, prosecutors have said.

After Taheb loaded the weapons into the rental vehicle and climbed into the passenger seat, agents arrested him, according to a court filing.

Taheb is scheduled to be sentenced 23 June.
Yet another idiot befriended by FBI informants to get help realizing his plans for glorious jihad.

India-Pakistan
Injustice for slain WSJ reporter Daniel Pearl: Pakistan springs murder conspirators...or maybe not yet
[NYPOST] While the rest of the world deals with the COVID-19 pandemic, Pakistain is busy letting murderers go free.

On Thursday, a Pak local court overturned the conviction of a British-Pak man for orchestrating the kidnapping and beheading of Wall Street Journal news hound Danny Pearl in 2002.

A full 18 years after the fact, the court found Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheik guilty of the lesser charge of kidnapping and sentenced him to seven years in prison. He’ll likely get out for time already served.

With much of Pakistain sympathetic to violent Islamists, the move reeks of corruption. Tellingly, the court also overturned the convictions of three other men who had been serving life sentences in the case.

On Jan. 23, 2002, Saeed lured Danny Pearl into a trap in Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
with a promise of info for his investigation of "shoebomber" Richard Reid’s links to bully boyz there. Days later, al Qaeda 9/11 criminal mastermind Khalid Sheik Mohammed videotaped his gruesome murder of the news hound.

As Pearl’s father, Judea, said, "It’s a mockery of justice." He continues: "Anyone with a minimal sense of right and wrong now expects Faiz Shah, prosecutor general of [the Pak province] Sindh to do his duty and appeal this reprehensible decision to the Supreme Court of Pakistain."

Saeed & Co. should rot behind bars until their own Judgment Day.

Accused killer of US journalist Daniel Pearl to stay in prison as case appealed
Awaiting the clearing of the fog of the first draft of history...
[IsraelTimes] After court overturns murder conviction of Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh, government says he and 3 others will remain jailed for now.

A Pakistani provincial government Friday ordered a British Pakistani man whose conviction in the kidnapping and killing of a US journalist was overturned to remain in custody for three months.

The Superintendent of Karachi’s Central Prison, Hasan Sehtoo, said he received an order from the Sindh provincial government saying Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh’s release would threaten public safety. The government ordered him detained as it appeals to the Pakistani Supreme Court to have his murder conviction reinstated.

Iraq
Iraq’s oil revenues almost halved in March vs. February
[Rudaw] Iraq’s oil revenues fell by almost half in March compared to February’s figures, Baghdad officials said Wednesday, underscoring the financial difficulties ahead.

Oil revenues account for roughly 90 percent of Iraq’s annual budget.

Iraq’s oil revenues for the month of March were $2.98 billion, with an average export of 3.390 million barrels per day (bpd).

By contrast, Iraq’s oil revenues for the month of February stood at $5.52 billion, with an average export of 3.391 million bpd.

According to oil ministry figures, Iraq increased oil production in March by around 7 million barrels compared to February. However,
if you can't say something nice about a person some juicy gossip will go well...
as world oil prices tumbled, its revenues actually fell.

A barrel of Iraqi oil sold for an average of $28.436 in March, down from an average of $51.374 in February.

Ghaani Stumbles in Uniting Iraq Allies with Iran
[AAWSAT] Despite his busy schedule of meetings with Iraq’s various Shiite leaderships over the past two days, Iranian Quds Force commander Esmail Ghaani failed to unite their ranks as the country remains deadlocked over the formation of a new government.

Ghaani had arrived in Baghdad this week to try and unify Iraq’s fractured politicians as stiff opposition by the Hikma movement thwarts chances the country’s latest prime minister-designate, Adnan al-Zurfi, can form a government.

Ghaani made his first trip to Baghdad since his appointment, succeeding Qassem Soleimani
, who was killed in a US air strike in Iraq in January.

Parliament Speaker Mohammed al-Halbousi called on Hikma leader, Ammar al-Hakim to end the crisis, urging him to take into consideration the health and economic situation in the country. After a meeting with Hakim, the speaker stressed the need for parliament to play its role in confronting the economic crisis sparked by a drop in oil prices.

Shiite forces remain divided over Zurfi’s appointment, but that has not stopped him from acting as if his designation had been approved. He has held almost daily meetings with officials, the latest was with Defense Minister Najah al-Shammari on Thursday. An Iranian diplomat revealed that he had also met "indirectly" with Ghaani.

On whether Ghaani had made progress with the Shiite parties, political commentator, Ihsan al-Shammari told Asharq al-Awsat that he made a "major breakthrough", but only with their leaderships.

Sharp divisions remain between these leaderships and their parliamentary contingents, he explained.

Ghaani’s visit confirms "without a doubt" that Iraq still remains a priority for Tehran, which is still banking on the possibility of uniting Shiite ranks, he continued. Soleimani had attempted to unite them through a document that was signed at Hakim’s residence last year, but the agreement soon collapsed due to the protests that erupted in October.

Iraq’s feuding politicians impervious to emerging calamity
Typical. This is why they don’t have nice things.
[THEBAGHDADPOST] Two weeks ago, Iraqi President Barham Salih nominated Adnan al-Zurfi as prime minister-designate and tasked him with forming a Cabinet to be approved by parliament. This was the president’s latest effort to form a government after Adel Abdul Mahdi stepped down in November last year in the face of widespread public criticisms of his government’s failure to provide services to the people.

Al-Zurfi faces a daunting challenge. A former governor of Najaf province, he has dual US-Iraqi citizenship and has been associated with Iraq’s politics since the US invasion in 2003. He took a tough stand against the militia of Moqtada Tater al-Sadr
...hereditary Iraqi holy man and leader of a political movement in Iraq. He had his hereditary rival al-Khoei assassinated shortly after the holy rival's appearance out of exile in 2003. Formerly an Iranian catspaw, lately he's gagged over some of their more outlandish antics, then went back to catspawry...
in 2004. He is the head of the Nasr parliamentary grouping that includes former Prime Minister Haider Abadi.

#1  If anybody started this to harm Trump, or hope this will put a (D) back in the White House, they better remember there will be a lot of collateral damage.

If all of the unstable countries in the world destabilize... well, the effect on Global Worming would be... horrific. Greta would be grief-stricken!
