Afghanistan
Top Afghan political leaders form a new major political coalition
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] Several top political figures have formed a new major political coalition as the presidential elections are due for next year amid growing political and security instability.

The Chief of Staff of the First Vice President Enayatullah Babur Farahman informed regarding the formation of the new political figure by posting online a short statement and group photo of the coalition members.

Farahmand has said the new political coalition consists of key political figures from across the country.

No further details have been given regarding the new coalition however the coalition leadership apparently consists of First Vice President Gen. Abdul Rashid Dostum
...ethnic Uzbek warlord who distinguished himself fighting the Soviets and the Taliban. The story that he had a bad guy run over with a tank is an exaggeration. It was an armored personnel carrier...
, Jamaat Islami Chief Executive Ata Mohammad Noor, Ahmad Zia Massoud and a number of the parliament members.

Dostum is currently residing in The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the decaying remnant of the Ottoman Empire....
and is accused of grave human rights
...which are usually entirely different from personal liberty...
violations, including a sexual assault and kidnapping of ex-Jawzjan governor Ahmad Ischi by his guards, a charge which he and his office have repeatedly rejected.

Dostum left the country for Turkey few months earlier amid ongoing controversies regarding his alleged involvement in the sexual abuse of Ishchi.

A front man for Junbish-e-Millie party Kanishka Turkistani earlier this year had said that the health condition of Gen. Dostum has improved, his medical treatment has concluded along with some other works in Turkey, and he will return to the country soon as there are no barriers available at the moment for his return.

Hekmatyar supports the launch of e-NIC distribution by the government
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The leader of Hezb-e-Islami Gulbuddin Hekmatyar
... who used to be known in intelligence circles as The Most Evil Man in the World but who now seems merely run-of-the-mill evil...
declared his support to the launch of the electronic National Identity Cards (e-NIC) by the Afghan government.

Speaking during a presser in northern Parwan province, Hekmatyar said the distribution process of the electronic National Identity Cards must continue.

He said he and his supports the government’s decision to launch the distribution process of the electronic National Identity Cards as he called on the government leaders to end the rift regarding the issue.

This comes as the Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah
... the former foreign minister of the Northern Alliance government, advisor to Masood, and candidate for president against Karzai. Dr. Abdullah was born in Kabul and is half Tadjik and half Pashtun...
had earlier emphasized that national processes in Afghanistan including election or the process of distribution of Electronic Tazkiras need nation level consultations.

He also added that better security remains a top priority for the Afghans, not issues that can challenge our collective effort for peace and stability.

According to the Chief Executive, the issue of Electronic Tazkiras was discussed across the country, emphasizing that people had legitimate concerns but, no attention was paid to these legitimate concerns which is an unpleasant discussion and could lead country to crisis.

"I would once again declare that all the national processes which are not being consulted within the National Unity Government and with the people of Afghanistan are not legitimate and I will not be part of those processes," he added.

Arabia
Saudi Arabia launches $34.7 billion entertainment revolution
[DAWN] After repealing a decades-long ban on cinemas only last year, Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
has now launched an ambitious drive to become a culture and entertainment hub as part of sweeping modernisation plans.

American film star Katie Holmes and British actor-cum-director Idris Elba rubbed shoulders with Saudi officials, as the conservative kingdom on Thursday night kicked off an initiative to invest 130 billion riyals ($34.7 billion, 29 billion euros) in culture and leisure by 2020.

The goal is to create "a true cultural industry, with theatres, cinemas and training centres," said Ahmad al-Mazid, who leads culture policy for Saudi Arabia.

Key projects include 16 entertainment complexes, an aquatic centre and three other huge leisure hubs ‐ all part of a bid to ensure three Saudi cities make it into the global top 100 for quality of life.

The project, dubbed "Quality of Life Program 2020," is in part designed to encourage wealthy young citizens to spend more of their leisure time in the kingdom, where more than half the population is below the age of 25.

"It will contribute to the satisfaction of Saudis and incentivise them to invest in their country and to stay," said Ahmad Khatib, head of the oil-rich state's entertainment policy.

Palestinians are not Saudis, we better defend ourselves: Former Saudi general
[PRESSTV] A former Saudi general has added fresh fuel to Riyadh's campaign of defending the Israeli regime against the Paleostinians, saying Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
is not obliged to defend the people of Paleostine against the Israeli occupation.

Anwar Eshki, who currently serves as chairman of the Middle East Center for Strategic and Legal Studies in Saudi Arabia, said Thursday that Riyadh has no extra duty to protect the Paleostinians against the Israelis, adding Paleostinians do not deserve such protection from Riyadh as much as the Saudi citizens do.

"If your house and your neighbor’s are set on fire, it is natural you rush to extinguish the fire engulfing your house," said Eshki in an interview with BBC Arabic.

However,
there's no worse danger than telling a mother her baby is ugly...
faced with recurrent questions about Saudi Arabia’s historic responsibility to counter Israeli occupation and aggression against the Paleostinians, the former Saudi general clearly patronized Israel and said the regime in Tel Aviv never invaded Saudi Arabia to deserve a response from the kingdom.

"Israel is (merely) suspected of animosity," said Eshki, who is known for his repeated visits to the occupied Paleostinian territories, especially in recent months.

Leader of Saudi-backed Muslim group decries those who blame Jews for Holocaust
President Trump may well be in office for two full terms, and he possibly will be followed by another Republican with similar ideas, so best to get on his good side now...
[IsraelTimes] Days after anti-Semitic statements by PA President Abbas, Mohammad Al Issa says 'excuses that make us look away from disaster' are a denial of criminality

The leader of a Saudi-based Moslem group decried those would blame Jews for the Holocaust, days after Paleostinian Authority President the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas
... a graduate of the prestigious unaccredited Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow with a doctorate in Holocaust Denial...
came under international censure for doing so.

Mohammad Al Issa, the secretary general of the Moslem World League, said that blaming the Jews for the Holocaust was akin to denying the Holocaust, a phenomenon he denounced earlier this year.

"To reduce the importance of this disaster by saying excuses that would make us look away from this disaster, is a continuation of the denial of the criminality of this incident, this crime against humanity," Al Issa said Thursday at an event organized by the Washington Institute for Near East Policy.

Al Issa, who made headlines in January when he denounced Holocaust denial, had been asked by Robert Satloff, the Washington Institute’s director, whether he would also condemn those who blame Jews for the Holocaust.

Neither Satloff nor al-Issa mentioned Abbas. The Paleostinian leader on Friday apologized "if people were offended" by his speech earlier in the week, when he said the behavior of Jews, including "their function in society, which had to do with usury, banks, and so on," led to massacres, including the Holocaust.

Satloff also asked al Issa what he thought of jacket wallahs who target civilians, a tactic once identified closely with the Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood, terrorist group on its attacks on Israelis.

He said Islam opposed "attacking civilians anywhere on this earth."

A former justice minister, Al Issa had taken over the Saudi-funded Moslem World League in 2016, and his leadership[ of the once-strident group appears to be of a piece with Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
’s pivot westward under its new crown prince, Mohammed bin Salman
...Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia as of 2016....
As part of his Washington visit, Al Issa toured the US Holocaust Memorial Museum.

‘'This Is Not Mecca!'' Residents of Irish Town Object to Plans for Mosque and Islamic Cultural Center
[Gateway Pundit] Kilkenny, Ireland

A planning application for a controversial new mosque and Islamic center in one of Ireland’s most touristic towns has been challenged in dozens of formal objections, with local residents recently attending a packed public meeting to voice their opposition to the project.

A decision is expected May 10th on the controversial proposal which could see Kilkenny City become a major center for Islam in Ireland, serving the south east of the country.

The application made on behalf of the Kilkenny Islamic Center seeks permission for a two-story mosque complete with dome and minaret, with adjacent living quarters and guest accommodation, classrooms, halal shop and community hall. The existing Islamic center has been located in a rented premises on the outskirts of town for several years.

Whilst numbering less than 100,000, Ireland’s Muslim population is one of the fastest growing in Europe, having doubled since 2006, with prayer rooms and smaller premises no longer of adequate size to meet demand.

In April, a heated public meeting chaired by local political representatives heard from over two hundred residents, the vast majority opposed to the project, several citing the proximity of the proposed development to a Catholic cemetery and the prospect of the call to prayer being broadcast multiple times a day. Michael McGrath, a local photo-journalist humorously described the meeting as ‘’one of the most ferocious encounters in Kilkenny since the civil war.”

During the discussion, residents heard from Imam Ebrahim Ndure, representing the town’s Muslim population, and architects for the proposed development. Local and national media described the crowd reaction as hostile, quoting angry residents opposed to the project.

Turkey’s CHP opposition party names Muharrem Ince as presidential candidate
[PRESSTV] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
’s main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) has presented senior politician Muharrem Ince as its presidential candidate to challenge incumbent President Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey...
in the country’s June presidential elections.

The CHP leader, Kemal Kilicdaroglu, announced Ince’s candidacy for the June 24 snap poll on Friday at a packed hall of party meeting in the capital Ankara, alleging that "democracy is under threat" in the Anatolian country under Erdogan, while also touching on the slumping economy and issues in education and foreign policy.

Kilicdaroglu, then, put a Ottoman Turkish flag pin on Ince, in a symbolic show of neutrality, saying, "A president should embrace 80 million people."

Ince, a 54-year-old former physics teacher from the northwestern province of Yalova, joined the CHP in the early 1990s and has been a politician for the past 16 years. Known for his fiery
...a single two-syllable word carrying connotations of both incoherence and viciousness. A fiery delivery implies an audience of rubes and yokels, preferably forming up into a mob...
and impassioned rhetoric, he became the CHP’s deputy group leader in 2007 and was unanimously selected by all 110 CHP MPs as the best rival the party can present for the rhetorically-gifted Erdogan.

11 cops booked six years after ‘killing’ a man in staged encounter
[DAWN] It took a woman more than six years to get a case registered against officials of Ganda Singh cop shoppe who had allegedly rubbed out his only son in a fake encounter in 2012.

Police on Thursday entered a case against 11 suspects, two of them unidentified, for allegedly killing an innocent man in a staged encounter for their vested interest.

According to complainant Ghulam Fatima of village Kotli Rai Abu Bakar, on Oct 18, 2012, police officials, including Ganda Singh police in charge Qurban Ali, two sub-inspectors (SIs) Muzaffar Ali and Asghar Ali, two assistant sub inspectors (ASIs) Abbas Ali and Shah Waliullah, four constables -- Idrees, Muhammad Mansha, Inyatullah and Mushtaq Ahmed and two unidentified coppers raided the outhouse of Iftikhar at Sattoki village and picked her son Mushtaq.

On being informed, her sons Zafar and Hameed went to Thai Sheikhum cop shoppe where the officials denied having picked Mushtaq.

According to the FIR, the police officials first took Mustaq to Tara Gar police post and then to a place near Baito village.

She alleged that the suspects later two coppers -- Shah Waliullah and Muzaffar shot up her son who went titzup.

Later, on the complaint of ASI Shah Waliullah, Ganda Singh police entered a case mentioning Mushtaq was killed in a police encounter.

On her complaint, Magistrate Shoaib Imran held a judicial inquiry into the case on Dec 17, 2012 and on Jan 28, 2013, he submitted a report to the then district session judge declaring the police officials guilty of killing an innocent man.

The police moved the Lahore High Court against the magistrate’s orders and got a stay order.

Iraq
Iraq’s top Shia cleric warns against voting for 'corrupt' legislators
[PRESSTV] Iraq's prominent Shia holy man, Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani, has urged eligible voters in the Arab country not to cast their ballots in favor of "corrupt" politicians during next week's national elections.

Grand Ayatollah Sistani’s representative Sheikh Abdul Mahdi Karbalai said in a Friday sermon on his behalf in the holy city of Karbala that the Iraqis, who will vote in the May 12 polls, should not re-elect candidates from among parliamentarians and officials who have proved to be "corrupt and failing."

The senior Iraqi Shia leader noted "the religious leadership has long sought to replace the former tyrannical regime with a system that adopts political pluralism and peaceful transfer of power through free and fair elections. It believes there is no other alternative to determine the country's future, when people will enjoy freedom, dignity, progress and prosperity, and their original values and supreme interests will be preserved."

"The electoral process will not lead to satisfactory results unless the electoral law is fair to protect cast votes against any possible rigging, and voters will not find the chance to circumvent it. Electoral lists should pledge economic, educational and social welfare programs that can be implemented," Grand Ayatollah Sistani pointed out.

The prominent Iraqi clergyman then stressed the important role that voters play in shaping the future of their country, stating that people should not elect contenders who are not qualified and would compromise their role for the sake of personal interests or tribal tendencies.

Palestinian president issues apology over his alleged anti-Jewish speech
[DAWN] Paleostinian President the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas
... a graduate of the prestigious unaccredited Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow with a doctorate in Holocaust Denial...
apologised on Friday over alleged anti-Semitic comments that drew global condemnation.

"If people were offended by my statement at the Paleostinian National Council, especially people of the Jewish faith, I apologise to them," he said in a statement, days after appearing to suggest Jewish behaviour, including money lending, led to their persecution in Europe.

The English-language statement added he wanted "to reiterate our long-held condemnation of the Holocaust, as the most heinous crime in history".

"We condemn anti-Semitism in all its forms, and confirm our commitment to the two-state solution, and to (living) side by side in peace and security."

It did not specifically apologise for his claim about Jewish persecution.

Israeli Defence Minister Avigdor Lieberman immediately rejected the statement on Twitter.

Abbas "is a pathetic Holocaust denier who wrote a doctorate about Holocaust denial and then a book about Holocaust denial," he said, citing past works that had already led to accusations of anti-Semitism. "His apology is not accepted."

Israel declares Gaza protests 'state of war'
[PRESSTV] Israel says protests near the Gazoo fence amount to an act of war, and thus it is right to respond fatally to the demonstrations in which 45 Paleostinians have been killed in recent weeks.

The daily Ha’aretz cited a regime statement as saying that Tel Aviv sees the ongoing "March of Return" protests as "part of hostile acts by Hamas, one of the armed feet of the Moslem Brüderbung millipede, against Israel."

The statement came in response to a High Court petition filed by human rights
...which are usually open to widely divergent definitions...
groups, declaring that Israel "opposes the applying of human rights law during an armed conflict."

"The Israeli forces’ rules of engagement comply with both Israeli and international law," Ha'aretz quoted the statement as saying.

Gazooks have been protesting each Friday at the fence since March 30, demanding the right to return to their homeland.

Israel’s Knesset on Monday passed a controversial law that allows the prime minister to bypass parliament and declare war or order a major operation on his own after only consulting his minister for military affairs.

Israel, US military-industrial complex attempting to sabotage Iran deal: Scholar
[PRESSTV] A majority of the American people support the Iran nuclear deal but Israel and the US military-industrial complex are attempting to sabotage it, an American writer and retired professor says.

"It’s very clear that the supporters of breaking the agreement with the European nations and the Iranian government come from a very small minority in the United States. Basically it is linked to the military‐industrial complex and the Zionist power configuration in the United States," said James Petras, a professor emeritus of sociology at Binghamton University in Binghamton, New York, and adjunct professor at Saint Mary's University in Halifax, Nova Scotia in Canada.
According to his Wikipedia page, the good professor is one of those prolific socialist intellectuals, rather like a volcano in his output.
"The support among Democrats is over nearly 70 percent, over two-thirds of the voting public. Even among Republicans there is a plurality of Republicans that goes against President Trump’s decision," he told Press TV on Thursday.

"So if public opinion is so strongly in support of maintaining the nuclear agreement how do we explain that a small minority, a minority of minority can continue to influence and perhaps provokes a regional or even a world war?" he asked.

US withdrawal from Iran nuclear deal could lead to war: Macron
[PRESSTV] French President Emmanuel Macron has warned that a possible US withdrawal from Iran's nuclear deal could lead to a war.

In an interview with Der Spiegel, Macron pointed to US President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
's threats to abandon the nuclear agreement, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), and said, "That would mean opening Pandora's box, it could mean war," The Hill reported on Friday.

"I do not believe that Donald Trump wants war," Macron added.

"My view ‐ I do not know what your president will decide ‐ is that he will get rid of this deal on his own, for domestic reasons," the French president pointed out.

Such a measure "can work in the short term but it is very insane in the medium to long term," he added.

Iran and the five permanent members of the United Nations
...a lucrative dumping ground for the relatives of dictators and party hacks...
Security Council ‐ the US, La Belle France, Britannia, Russia and China ‐ plus Germany signed the JCPOA on July 14, 2015, and started implementing it on January 16, 2016.

Under the JCPOA, Iran undertook to put limits on its nuclear program in exchange for the removal of nuclear-related sanctions imposed against it.

Trump has described the deal, which was negotiated under his predecessor, Barack Obama
It’s very rare that I come to an event where I’m like the fifth- or sixth-most interesting person....
, as "the worst and most one-sided transaction Washington has ever entered into," a characterization he often used during his presidential campaign, and threatened to tear it up.
