The U.S. military has carried out at least a dozen such airstrikes this year in Somalia against the al-Qaeda-linked al-Shabaab, the deadliest Islamic group in Africa.

Jihadists Get Life for Deadly 2015 Tunisia Attacks on Tourists
More on this report from yesterday.
[AnNahar] A Tunisian court has sentenced seven jihadists to life in prison over attacks at a museum and on a beach in 2015 that killed 60 people, many of them tourists, prosecutors said Saturday.

Dozens of defendants faced two separate trials over the closely linked shootings, which occurred just months apart in Tunis and Sousse, but many were acquitted.

Three were given life sentences for homicide over the first attack in March 2015 at the capital's Bardo museum, in which two button men killed 21 foreign tourists and a Tunisian security guard.

Four received the same term for the shooting rampage at a Sousse tourist resort in June that year, which killed 38 people, mostly British tourists.

Other defendants were sentenced to between six and 16 years, said prosecution front man Sofiene Sliti on Saturday.

Prosecutors said afterwards that they planned to launch appeals in both cases.

The court heard that the two attacks, both claimed by the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group (IS), were closely linked.

Several defendants pointed to the runaway Chamseddine Sandi as criminal mastermind of both.

According to Tunisian media, Sandi was killed in a US air strike in neighbouring Libya in February 2016, although there has been no confirmation.

- 'DUTY TO IS' -
Among those who were facing trial were six security personnel accused of failing to provide assistance to people in danger during the Sousse attack.

That shooting was carried out by Seifeddine Rezgui, who opened fire on a beach before rampaging into a high-end hotel, where he continued to fire a kalashnikov and throw grenades until being rubbed out by police.

Four Frenchies, four Italians, three Japanese and two Spaniards were among those killed in the Bardo attack, before the two button men themselves, armed with Kalashnikov assault rifles, were rubbed out.

Investigations showed one of the button men, Yassine Laabidi -- who was born in 1990 and was from a poor district near Tunis -- had amphetamines in his body.

His fellow attacker Jaber Khachnaoui, born in 1994 and from Tunisia's deprived Kasserine region, had travelled to Syria in December 2014 via Libya.

One suspect questioned in court, Tunis labourer Mahmoud Kechouri, said he had helped plan the Bardo attack, including preparing mobile phones for Sandi, a neighbour and longtime friend.

Kechouri, 33, said he was driven by a "duty to participate in the emergence of the (IS) caliphate".

Other defendants accused of helping prepare the attack said they had only discussed ideas with friends. Several alleged they were tortured in detention.

- 'FINALLY RECOGNISED VICTIMS' -
Victims' family members in La Belle France and Belgium watched the Sousse attack hearing via a live video feed.

"It was important for us to see, and especially to hear -- to try to understand the role" of each defendant, said one French survivor. "Arriving at the end of the process will help us to turn the page, even if we can never forget."

"The trial allowed them -- by organising the video conferencing and giving the floor to lawyers chosen by the victims -- to finally be recognised as victims by the Tunisian state," said Gerard Chemla, a lawyer for the French victims.

But he lamented that the families of those killed had not been compensated.

The Sousse attack, which killed 30 Britons, is also the subject of proceedings in front of the Royal Courts of Justice in London, which is seeking to establish what happened.

Since a 2011 uprising that toppled dictator Zine El Abidine Ben Ali, jihadist attacks in Tunisia have killed dozens of members of the security forces.

As well as leaving many dead, the Bardo and Sousse attacks dealt a devastating blow to Tunisia's vital tourism sector -- although it has begun to recover.

Chadian army says 250 rebels captured after rebel convoy targeted
[PULSE.NG] The Chadian military on Saturday said it had captured more than 250 rebels, including some top leaders, after an operation against an convoy of murderous Moslems trying to cross into the country from Libya in late January that also involved French Arclight airstrikes.

In a statement issued by army staff the Chadian military said the sweep would continue in the region of Ennedi, in the northwest border with Libya and Sudan, near where the armed column of rebel vehicles was brought to a halt in early February.

The statement said some 250 "terrorists, including four main leaders" were detained, while more than 40 vehicles were destroyed and hundreds of weapons were seized.

"Several compromising documents" were also seized," the statement added without giving further details.

President Idriss Deby on Thursday said the column of rebels had been "destroyed" in a series of strikes carried out by French warplanes.

Acting in conjunction with Chad's government, French Mirage 2000 jets targeted the convoy on Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday, destroying about 20 of roughly 50 pickup trucks the rebels started out with, the French armed forces said in a statement.

Chadian forces had already tried to stop the column with airstrikes at the beginning of February, before asking La Belle France for warning passes and then strikes.

An armed forces front man said the convoy had crossed 400 kilometres (250 miles) of Chadian territory before being halted between Tibesti and Ennedi in the northwest.

An anti-Deby rebel group, the Union of Resistance Forces (UFR), claimed to have crossed into northern Chad with "three columns" of vehicles.

On Friday, the group said it had suffered "damage" after the French strikes, according to one of its members Mahamat Doki Warou.

Another source from the group told AFP that ten fighters had been killed.

The UFR was created in January 2009 from an alliance of eight rebel groups.

In February 2008, a tripartite krazed killer group, moving in from the east, reached the gates of the presidential palace in N'Djamena before being repulsed by Deby's forces.

Chad, a vast and mostly desert country with more than 200 ethnic groups, has suffered repeated coups and crises since it gained independence from La Belle France in 1960.

#1  Very good find, Unosh Hupinelet8756. Interesting that Facebook will not allow his Gateway Pundit articles on the subject to be shared. One problem I’d been having getting information about the Moslem colonization of the West is that so many stories ar simply not reported, or if reported use such euphamisms that those not intimately familiar with the area and the players will not realize exactly who is involved and what happened. I gave up doing the weekly round ups because I haven’t the energy, nor the time since Mr, Wife retired almost a year ago, but the occasional hints revealing some of the edges of the news blockade were a continual frustration.

Iraqi authorities refer mother of three to judiciary over terrorism links
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Iraqi authorities has referred a mother of three to the judiciary over affiliation with turban groups, a government agency said in a statement on Friday.

The Iraqi border crossings authority said a mother and three of her children were referred to judicial authorities having been returned home by Syrian authorities. It referred to a statement by the Iraqi embassy in Damascus which pointed to the woman’s arrest by Syrian authorities over suspicions she had links with terrorist groups.

The authority said the woman was sent back aboard a Syrian flight before she was taken by police at the Baghdad International Airport preparing for referral to concerned judicial bodies.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Palestinian from Hebron, nabbed Friday, said to confess to killing Ori Asbacher
[IsraelTimes] Shin Bet: Arafat Irfayia, 29, left home with a knife on Thursday, happened upon the Israeli teen in south Jerusalem, attacked and murdered her.

The Paleostinian suspect in the murder on Thursday of Israeli teen Ori Ansbacher in Jerusalem was identified Saturday as Arafat Irfayia, a 29-year-old resident of the West Bank city of Hebron who was in Israel illegally. A Channel 12 news report quoted Israeli security officials saying he had confessed to the killing.

Citing Irfaiya’s account under questioning, the police and the Shin Bet said in a statement Saturday night that Irfaiya left his home in Hebron on Thursday armed with a knife and made his way toward Jerusalem, where he spotted Ansbacher in the woods and fatally attacked her. "He attacked and murdered her," the statement said.

Irfayia had previously served time for being in Israel illegally and for possession of a knife, Channel 13 reported. Other details of the murder investigation remain barred from publication.

Ansbacher, 19, was found dead in the woods at Ein Yael in south Jerusalem late Thursday, with what police said were "signs of violence," after she was reported missing earlier in the day.

Israeli television reported over the weekend that there has been growing suspicion the killing was "nationalistic" ‐ a term generally used to describe Paleostinian terrorism.

Channel 12 reported Saturday that during his interrogation, Irfayia did not indicate such a motive. According to the report, police are also checking whether the attack was sexual in nature.

"The interrogation of the suspect is ongoing and is focused in particular on the motives for the murder," the statement on Saturday said.

According to Ynet news hound Elior Levy, citing Paleostinian sources, Irfayia is affiliated with the Paleostinian terror group Hamas, the braying voice of Islamic Resistance®, and resides in an area of Hebron where the group has wide support. Channel 13, by contrast, said Irfayia was not known to have associations with terror groups.

Also Saturday, Israeli Sherlocks said that forensic evidence at the murder scene led security forces to the arrest of the suspect Friday night. He was tied to the crime by DNA evidence, Channel 13 said.

Irfayia was arrested as part of a series of raids in the West Bank’s Ramallah/el-Bireh area on Friday on two residential buildings and the Jamal Abdel-Nasser Mosque. According to PA news outlet Wafa, Israeli troops confiscated security camera footage from the neighborhood, as well as from the mosque.

Channel 12 reported that the first raid on the mosque on Friday evening did not turn up the suspect and security forces conducted a second raid, acting on intelligence, on a nearby abandoned building in the al-Bireh area later in the night, sending in a police dog to find and apprehend the suspect.

Police said Saturday that the forensic evidence at the scene tied Irfayia to the murder "without question," according to a Channel 13 report. The arrest of the suspect was "very quiet," the police added.

Ansbacher’s family was notified of the arrest over the course of Saturday.

Ansbacher’s body was found at Ein Yael, which lies between the Jerusalem Biblical Zoo and the West Bank village of Walaja. The murder has been described by Israeli authorities as brutal; Ansbacher was said to have been stabbed multiple times.

Ansbacher was buried Friday in her hometown, the West Bank settlement of Tekoa, and politicians from across the political spectrum issued statements of condolence.

Ansbacher was carrying out a year of national service at a youth center in Jerusalem at the time of her death.

On Friday night, in a Shin Bet and Israel Police joint operation, security services entered El-Bireh, adjoining Ramallah, and arrested Rifaiyeh in a building near a mosque.
About the Friday night raids, the Jerusalem Post adds:
Residents threw stones, pipe bombs and Molotov cocktails at the Border Police and IDF jeeps that secured the area, so that the Shin Bet and the police’s counterterrorism unit could operate.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
SDF launch last push against ISIS in Syria
[Rudaw] Kurdish-led forces in Syria have begun their last offensive against ISIS in the country.

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) "started to move on to the last village remaining under jihadists’ control in [northern] Syria," said SDF press officer Mustafa Bali on Saturday evening.

The "village of Baghouz, which is the only remaining ISIS pocket, will be cleared soon," he declared.

The decision to begin the final stage of the military campaign was made only after more than 20,000 civilians had evacuated the battleground, he added.

The night before, Bali had told Rooters they had opened a safe corridor and were receiving civilians every day.

He denied reports that they were in negotiations with ISIS to take control of Baghouz while giving forces of Evil passage to another location.

There is no intention to enter negotiations, he told Rooters.

Earlier on Saturday, the Syriac Military Council, which fights under the SDF umbrella, announced they had sent an assault group for the "final operation/attack to defeat ISIS in Baghouz."

The Baghouz area on the shores of the Euphrates River in eastern Deir ez-Zor province, near the border with Iraq, is the last piece of significant territory held by the jihadists who had once controlled swathes of land across Iraq and Syria. There are an estimated 1,000 fighters holed up in Baghouz.
The Times of Israel adds:
“The decisive battle began tonight to finish what remains of ISIS terrorists," Bali said, using an Arabic acronym to refer to IS.

"The battle is very fierce," he later told The News Agency that Dare Not be Named. "Those remaining inside are the most experienced who are defending their last stronghold. According to this you can imagine the ferocity and size of the fighting."

Bali did not say how long they expect the battle to last.

The Britannia-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a war monitor, said SDF fighters are advancing "cautiously" due to mines planted by IS button men. It said US-led coalition warplanes are giving cover to advancing SDF fighters.

US President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
predicted Wednesday that IS will have lost all of its territory by next week.

"It should be formally announced sometime, probably next week, that we will have 100 percent of the caliphate," Trump told representatives of the 79-member, US-led coalition fighting IS.

The Observatory said that since the SDF began its offensive against IS in the area on Sept. 10, some 1,279 IS gunmen and 678 SDF fighters have been killed. It said 401 civilians, including 144 children and teenagers, have been killed since then.

Earlier Saturday, IS militants attacked SDF fighters near an oil field in the country’s east, triggering airstrikes by the US-led coalition.

The Observatory said 12 IS gunmen attacked the SDF and clashed with them for several hours until most of the attackers were killed early Saturday. It said 10 attackers were killed, while two managed to flee.

Other activist collectives, including the Step news agency, reported the attack, saying some of the attackers used motorcycles rigged with explosives.
