Texas AG Paxton: ‘Only Reason' Anyone Would Be Against Voter ID Is to Allow Cheating
[Breitbart] Sunday on New York City WABC 770 AM radio’s "The Cats Roundtable," Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) discussed the efforts his state and others are making to ensure voter integrity in elections after the 2020 election cycle.

Paxton warned if states like Arizona, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania "don’t get their act together" when it comes to signature verification for mail-in voting, "we’ll never know if we have secure elections."

When asked about the argument that requiring voter ID is discriminatory, Paxton advised, "That’s just a red herring, and it’s just not true."

He went on to argue that anyone against requiring photo ID to vote wants to allow for others to be able to cheat in elections.

"The only argument that they had was that they claimed it was discriminatory. The reality is everybody knows that’s not true because you have to have a photo ID [for everyday life]," Paxton stated.

#1

I could spend a good 20 mins listing all the things the same people whining about Voter ID have no problem whipping out an ID to buy, or given. But the 1960's battle cry Voter ID whine is really even more meaningless in the 21st century.

But if ID's are problem.
Then let us argue that if we exempt VOTING the very foundation of ALL LAWS and government operations to protect citizen rights. Then we should also remove the requirement for all other things and just increase the fines and sentences for persons caught owning, acquiring, or to have purchased any items that the law(s) prohibits them having.

#2  Let's make the voting laws mirror the gun laws. ID, background checks, massive fines and jail times for any 'election worker' who lets an illegal vote through.

#3  Not entirely. It could also be a Fifth Amendment thing - the process of getting or renewing an ID might expose them to arrest on outstanding warrants.

Girl, 9, dies after being shot while playing on trampoline in Minneapolis
[NYPOST] A 9-year-old girl has died in Minneapolis after she was shot while playing on a trampoline at a friend’s birthday party, police said.

Trinity Ottoson-Smith had been jumping with friends on the trampoline when feral yoots someone fired from a car at the home in Brooklyn Center, striking her in the head on May 15, news station WCCO reported.

"She did not deserve this," Nicole Ottoson, Trinity’s mother, said on a GoFundMe page.

Trinity was brought to North Memorial Health Hospital in Robbinsdale, where she died on Thursday afternoon, police said.

"For the last 12 days, that child has fought for her life. And [Thursday], that fight ended," police front man, John Elder, told news station KTSP.

Her father, Raishawn Smith, also confirmed her death.

"Our baby Trinity passed today," he wrote on Facebook on Thursday. "God got her now."
Best case for the death penalty: The world will miss Trinity a lot more than it would miss the anuses who murdered her.
Trinity’s stepmother, Korrina Smith, wrote, "They took our girl from us. They robbed Trinity of the beautiful life she was living."

Her death comes as two other kids were also struck by stray bullets in Minneapolis in the past month.

Ladavionne Garrett Jr., 10, has been hospitalized since he was shot while riding in a vehicle on April 30.

Then on May 19, 6-year-old Aniya Allen died after she was shot while in her family’s car on the way home from McDonald’s.

A $30,000 reward has been offered by the Minneapolis Regional Chamber for any information that leads to arrests in the shootings, WCCO reported.

"We know full well people know what happened, who did this. Come forward with that info. You can remain anonymous and get a reward," Elder, the police front man, said.

Retired FBI agent stole $800,000 from a woman convincing her she was on 'secret probation'
[Yahoo] A retired FBI agent stole $800,000 from a woman by convincing her she was on "secret probation" and needed to comply or risk losing her children as part of a years-long scheme, prosecutors say.
One wonders what kind of an FBI agent he was before he retired...
In November 2015 - the month after he retired from the Federal Bureau of Investigation - William Roy Stone, Jr., 62, convinced a woman she was on "secret probation" under orders from a fictitious "Judge Anderson" for drug crimes, according to the US Attorneys Office for the Northern District of Texas.

Prosecutors did not identify the victim in the case but said she was a woman from the small Texas city of Granbury.

Stone told the woman that the fake judge had appointed him as her "mentor" to "supervise" her, prosecutors said. He allegedly told his victim she had to disclose to him all of her activities and assets, and said she was required to pay him his travel costs and other fees he incurred while supervising her, court documents said.

He also told her she was not allowed to tell anyone about her "secret probation" or she risked time in prison and losing custody of her children, according to court documents.

As part of the scheme, prosecutors allege Stone lied and told the woman he could monitor her cell phone records and that he had discussed her case with a psychiatrist. He also staged fake three-way phone calls between himself, his victim, and the fake judge, prosecutors allege.

Stone had told his victim that he would seek to end her probation if she accepted his proposal to marry her, prosecutors said.

Stone was charged with seven counts of wire fraud, one count of wire fraud conspiracy, one count of false impersonation of a federal officer, one count of engaging in monetary transactions in property derived from unlawful activity, and one count of making false statements to law enforcement.

Stone allegedly used the money to purchase cars, including a Mercedes Benz, and a new home.

Stone had pleaded not guilty.

"Mr. Stone denies each and every allegation," Dallas lawyer Gregg Gallian told NBC Dallas-Fort Worth. "He has entered his plea of not guilty and looks forward to exposing the truth of these misguided allegations in the courtroom."

If convicted, Stone faces up to 178 years in prison, according to the Justice Department.

University Plans to Hire Staff Based on Their 'Diversity and Inclusion' Rating
[Red State] Would you be a valuable employee at Bowling Green State University?

Before you answer that, consider what you offer — in the way of "diversity."

As reported by The Washington Free Beacon, the Ohio college may soon view applicants through the lens of their "diversity and inclusion" score.

Such was learned, purportedly, via emails obtained by the outlet.

In April, school president Rodney Rogers told faculty he’ll be piloting a diversity and inclusion process for those applying for a job over the next year.

Hopefuls will be docked points for failing to share personal experiences related to diversity and inclusion.

Or, as Rodney allegedly expressed, by "not addressing their own positionality" concerning diversity and inclusion.

Within the new hiring system, committees will choose which question(s) among five upon which to rate the individual.

Scoring will adhere to a five-point diversity and inclusion metric.

#4

I am all for giving ANY person a leg up.
But, we have had close to 55 years of Equal Employment Opportunity enforced by law for certain groups n the USA.

So there is little excuse for Lack of EQUALITY in the work place employment, promotion and public status. IF a person uses the taxpayer laid out golden path of preferred college admission, assistance and hiring.

Another alternative is:
It could be the college is quietly trying to avoiding admitting, that for years they were saying one thing, while they played a Racial Shell Game to collect Public Taxpayer $$$$ to assist and play "Equal".

QUESTION HERE IS:
How much preferred treatment and coddling does any Racial group need or get, before it is considered RACIST against other groups concerning equal employment?

Anything less than the BEST Qualified person for the job is short changing the staff, and students.

...Hear, hear. One can make a solid argument that it was only the resolution of a handful of Japanese officers to follow Hirohito's wishes that saved Japan from what we were prepared to do.

Always remember that the plan for the final assault on Tokyo involved dropping up to EIGHT atomic bombs on the fortifications around the city.

Eight Hiroshima-class weapons on one of the most densely populated places on the planet at that time.

And then hundreds of thousands of Allied troops would have marched through it.

#6  #4 that was after the Treaty of Paris with Spain. The Spanish claimed all the Philippines, but in truth only had control in the northern half of the Islands. Most of that was made Roman Catholic by the time of the transfer. They had 'offices' in the south, but did not control the Muslim population whose main occupation was piracy and slaving. The latter past time really upset the Americans so soon after the Civil War. That began a long drawn out insurgency war that was hot and cold several times till WWI. That involved, similar to the video, of bombarding fortified villages which were the base of operations by the Moros. That made a lot of 'civilian' casualties. Surprise, the Moros were just as fanatical as the Japanese or present day jihadists. The friction between northern Christians and southern Muslims continues to this day.

#7  Twilight of the Gods by Ian Toll (2020) has good chapters on both Manila and the Japanese efforts to end the war. One of his points is that the Japanese were clearly beat by mid-1944 (Turkey Shoot, Saipan, etc.) and the decision to keep fighting cost the lives of 1.5 million Japanese, more than had died in the war up to that point. When it came to making peace, the Japanese ladership was like the kamikaze pilot who flew nine missions: they were involved but not committed.

84-year-old man nabbed for murder of elderly woman in quaint English village
[NYPOST] A tiny English village was anything but the picture of peace and quiet Saturday when one of its elderly denizens was found dead.
I've never really been a Miss Marple fan...
Cops launched a murder investigation after being called to a home in the town of Mullion, in Cornwall, to find a woman in her 80s fatally injured, according to reports.
"She's dead, Jim!"
"Ha! She's only mostly dead! There's a difference! [KNOCK KNOCK!] Hey! You in there! What's the most important thing in the world to you?"
"True... [gurgle]... rosebud!"
"She's dead, Jim."
"Yeah. She's dead, Jim!"

While little information has been made public, authorities have already zeroed in on a suspect: an octogenarian from a nearby village, according to the UK Sun.
"Uncle Mortimer! How could you?"
Police nabbed the 84-year-old man, who lives just eight miles away, on suspicion of murder shortly after discovering the victim, who has not been publicly identified.
"If I can't have her no one can have her!"
An investigation is underway.

Privatization of Russian state assets have slowed since 2017
Direct translation of the article.
[REGNUM] In Russia, the implementation of the program for the privatization of federal property in 2017-2019 turned out to be the minimum over the past ten years. This was reported in the Accounts Chamber following the results of the audit.
The Account Chamber is a specific body of the national Duma which oversees the Russian privatization program
Thus, the inflow of funds to the federal budget from privatization decreased from 15.1 billion rubles in 2017 to 12.1 billion rubles in 2019. In total, the federal budget received 40.8 billion rubles from the privatization of federal property over the specified period (82.3% of budget allocations).

According to the ministry, the reason for the low budget revenues is the lack of large sales, out of nine blocks of shares in the largest companies included in the privatization plan, only one was sold in favor of another joint-stock company planned for privatization.

Another reason for the reduction in revenues is the increase in the share of sales of federal property in the "secondary" auction, that is, through a public offer without a price announcement.

In addition, the Accounts Chamber clarified, the work of agents for the sale of federal property also did not show efficiency - about 20% of the treasury objects included in the forecast privatization plan were not put up for auction by the agents.

As reported by IA REGNUM , according to the plan of the government of the Russian Federation for 2021-2022, it is planned to terminate the participation of the Russian Federation in the authorized capital of JSC Makhachkala Sea Commercial Port, PJSC Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port, as well as JSC Foreign Economic Association Almazyuvelirexport..

After the transfer its powers in terms of the export of precious metals and precious stones of the State Fund of Russia, rough diamonds and diamonds of the state funds of precious metals and precious stones of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation and the sale of representative consignments of rough natural diamonds to another authorized organization.

Also, according to Regnum.ru The Russian Finance Ministry is planning to simplify the process of purchasing state property:
The Russian Ministry of Finance is working to simplify the procedure for the sale of state property. On May 28 this was announced to reporters by the deputy head of the department Alexei Moiseev .

“New approaches and regulations are being developed that will simplify the procedure for selling property. Property management processes are also being modernized, including through the creation of a full-fledged bidding system , ”he said.

Moiseev also noted that in 2020 the Federal Property Management Agency, which came under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Finance from the Ministry of Economic Development, fully fulfilled the privatization plan, the budget received 4.08 billion rubles against the plan of 3.6 billion rubles.

Ex-cop injures child and police officer in street shooting in Russia, attacker detained
[RT] Two people including a nine-year-old girl have been injured as an ex-police officer opened fire from his apartment in the Russian city of Yekaterinburg. A Special Forces unit was deployed to detain the shooter.

On Sunday evening, the gunman opened fire in one of the sleepy residential districts of Yekaterinburg. The shooter armed with a hunting rifle seemed to randomly target people in the street from a balcony of his apartment, according to local media.

One witness revealed how he was driving by with his friends when they felt something was wrong and left the car only to see “a man opening fire from his hunting rifle.” The men then rushed to their car and sought to drive away when the gunman started shooting at them. “The bullets were hitting the road right behind our car,” the witness said, adding that he was “in shock.”

Some videos published on the social media show the chaotic scenes that unfolded in the nearby streets as the gunman opened fire.

The Premier League rivals are meeting in only the third ever all-English final in Europe’s biggest club game at the Estadio do Dragao in Portugal.

Around 16,500 spectators were allowed into the Estadio do Dragao in Porto on Saturday night, including 6,000 fans from each club.

After a season in which fans have mostly been starved of watching football in the stands due to Covid restrictions, the support was predictably raucous from both sides beforehand — but also included some uncomfortable boos for the organizers.

The first jeers were heard with the playing of the Champions League anthem, perhaps most prominently from the City fans.

They have a tepid relationship with European football governing body UEFA stemming from numerous grievances down the years, not least when the club was slapped with a two-year ban — later overturned — for alleged breaches of Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules.

More jeers and whistles were heard when the players and match officials customarily took a knee before the game got underway, continuing to show their support for the Black Lives Matter movement....

Dirty Laundry

I figured I should provide links because everyone might not know them. I figure most of us here at Rantburg have read "Harrison Bergeron" but not as many might have heard the song. It's a very hard song to find because as a liberal, I think Henley feels ashamed of it.

Rahm Emanuel's China Ties Are ‘Disqualifying' for Japan Ambassadorship, Hawley Says
[Free Beacon] Sen. Josh Hawley (R., Mo.) told the Washington Free Beacon Rahm Emanuel's past dealings with China could compromise his effectiveness as President Joe Biden's ambassador to Japan.

As ambassador to Japan, Emanuel would need to coordinate with Tokyo to counter China's regional power, as Japan is widely considered one of America’s most important allies in standing up to China. Republicans said Emanuel's close relationship with Chinese elites warrants serious investigation and could stand in the way of his Senate confirmation. Hawley said Emanuel's "reckless" record in office demonstrates he does not understand the China threat.

"Rahm Emanuel clearly does not understand the China threat and can’t be trusted to serve as ambassador to Japan," Hawley said. "That Joe Biden would attempt to put someone so reckless in charge of relations with one of our most important allies is very concerning."

Emanuel did not respond to a request for comment.

Emanuel made overtures to Chinese business throughout his tenure as mayor of Chicago in the hopes of making the city the "location of choice" in North America for the Communist regime's investors. In one case, the former Obama administration chief of staff secured a contract for the city with a company known for its cooperation with the Chinese military and Huawei. A 2016 contract brokered by Emanuel put the state-owned Chinese transportation giant CRRC to work in upgrading the Chicago transit authority’s railway cars, even though the proposal scored 5 points lower in evaluations compared to competing bids. The transportation company has collaborated with Huawei, an innovator in Chinese spyware, and its data collection capabilities have been shared with the Chinese military, according to a 2019 report.

Obviously corrupt. It was a $1.3 billion contract.

Only question is what few was charged by Emanuel as "broker" -- if it's the same as the 2% finder's fee he used to charge as a matchmaker in the investment banking business, then the Tiny Dancer pocketed about $26 million

Toxic liquor kills 25 people in northern India
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] At least 25 people have died after drinking bad moonshine in northern India, police said Sunday.

Police have arrested 10 men for selling the liquor in sprawling Uttar Pradesh, India’s most populous state.

"So far 25 persons have died and a few others are admitted in the hospital and are undergoing treatment. Ten persons have been arrested," Ajab Singh, a police spokesperson, told AFP.

Local media reported that the liquor was purchased on Thursday from a shop run by two brothers.

Liquor stores in the state had been shuttered under a coronavirus (aka COVID19 or Chinese Plague)
...the twenty first century equivalent of bubonic plague, only instead of killing off a third of the population of Europe it kills 3.4 percent of those who notice they have it. It seems to be fond of the elderly, especially Iranian politicians and holy men...
lockdown imposed to combat a devastating wave. About 160,000 people have died countrywide since April 1.

But as case numbers started to slow, Uttar Pradesh allowed liquor sales to resume in some districts on May 11 with restricted hours.

While it is unclear how the liquor in the Uttar Pradesh case was produced, hundreds of people die every year in India from cheap alcohol made in backstreet distilleries, affordable for even the poorest.
