Over 35 Shot Friday into Sunday Morning in Lori Lightfoot's Chicago
[Breitbart] ABC 7 / Chicago Sun-Times reports 27 people were shot and wounded and another nine were shot and killed, by early Sunday morning across the city.

Among the fatalities was a 34-year-old man found shot to death just after midnight Saturday in West Englewood.

Two other fatalities resulted when six people were shot in one incident Saturday morning just after 2 a.m. The shooting followed an argument which resulted in gunfire at "a gathering." One person opened fire on the crowd of people and another person returned fire, leaving two dead and four wounded.

A 36-year-old man was shot in the back and discovered by police in the "700 block of North Morgan Street" around 3:20 a.m. Saturday. He was transported to a hospital and pronounced dead.

A 27-year-old man with gunshot wounds to his torso was discovered just after midnight Sunday morning in Woodlawn. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Breitbart News reported at least 51 shot, seven fatally, over Labor Day weekend in the Windy City. An eight-year-old girl was among the seven fatalities.

Breitbart News reported the eight-year-old was riding in vehicle with her mom and two other adults around 6 p.m. when someone in the vehicle behind them opened fire. The girl and two adults—a 31-year-old man and 30-year-old woman—were each shot in the back.

The girl was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead.

Manhattan’s Washington Square Park is left littered with empty alcohol containers and fast food wrappers after hundreds of young revelers packed the space for a second weekend in a row
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news]
  • A huge crowd of young revelers packed Washington Square Park to party on Friday and Saturday night

  • Few were wearing masks and social distancing was disregarded despite the coronavirus pandemic

  • The aftermath was laid bare on Sunday morning as photos showed trash covering the park

Inda-China dispute explained in maps
[Aljazeera] India and China have been locked in a border dispute since April when rival soldiers were engaged in skirmishes at several points on their mountain border.

The two nuclear-armed Asian neighbours share a 3,500-kilometre (2,100-mile) unmarked border through the Himalayas, but an uneasy peace has held since the two countries signed a truce following a war in 1962.

On June 15, the border peace was broken following deadly clashes between Indian and Chinese soldiers in Galwan Valley in India’s Ladakh region. At least 20 Indian soldiers died in pitched hand-to-hand combat involving clubs and rocks.

Since then, thousands of soldiers have been deployed on both sides of the de facto border, known as the Line of Actual Control (LAC), with experts concerned tensions might lead to an unintentional war.

Here are seven maps to help you understand the situation on the ground and what is at stake.

Donald Trump signs new executive order to lower drug prices and says 'the days of global freeriding at America's expense are over'
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] I will withhold judgement until it is revealed whether this only impacts those companies that have been colluding with the FDA to drive previously affordable drug prices to unforeseen heights, or if this will push responsible pharmaceutical companies to stop investing in risky and expensive research to find new drugs, preferring instead to inexpensively tweak old ones for new drug positioning and profits — leaving the breakthroughs to the Israelis.

#1  The problem isnt so much with the drug companies as it is the collusion between the Obamacare abominations called "Ph4rm4cy Benefits Management"(PBM) companies, and the insurance companies. Express Scripts, CVS Health, and OptumRx are the big 3, and they have created a new "middle man" layer in healthcare between the doctors, pharmacists, and patients - they dictate what medications can be bought/reimbursed, and what price will be paid. They are responsible for the mess we are in.

Go look up PBM. They are evil.

#6  Texas passed tort reform a while back, and they have some of the most numerous and affordable are options in the nation.

The only people getting rich were the trial lawyers, who are overwhelmingly Democrat.

Non-economic damages should be capped at $250,000 for any and all doctors sued with an additional cap of $250,000 for each of up to two medical care institutions.

Other procedural and substantive devices, such as forum shopping, used to tilt the scales of justice would be eliminated.

Rural communities are adding needed specialists, and medical centers in Houston, Dallas, Fort Worth, and San Antonio are expanding at unprecedented rates.

The reform bill’s most significant achievements have been increased access to health care and an unanticipated positive economic impact on the Texas economy.

other states should look to Texas’s 10-year successful reform as an example to follow.

American Airlines to Move 'Gateway to Asia' from LA to DFW
[Dallas News] Fort Worth-based American Airlines is moving much of its Asian traffic from the Southern California international flying hub to DFW, a move that could open more opportunities for North Texas to access business and leisure destinations but disrupt how much of the country gets across the Pacific.
East Coast Elites will have to stop in the middle of Flyover Country to change planes.
American is making the move after decades of considering LAX its trans-Pacific hub to fly to destinations such as Hong Kong, Beijing, Tokyo, Seoul and even Auckland, New Zealand. But the landscape is changing with the pre-WuFlu growth of traffic across the Pacific.
When we came back from Down Under over a year ago, we came back through San Francisco, but not on American.
"Dallas certainly doesn’t have the best geography for an Asian hub," said American’s vice president of network and schedule planning. "But it does have some advantages in connecting people in the Southeast [United States] to Asia."
You'll still have to go through Atlanta, I presume.
American made the decision in June when it was trying to piece back together an international schedule that had been decimated by the COVID-19 pandemic, which first hit Asia and quickly affected travel to Asia from the U.S.
Buried on page 14A of Sunday's paper was the news of a North Texas guy who saw his Doctor January 27 with a really bad case of the flu, but tested positive for COVID antibodies in April.
It was overshadowed at the time by the massive restructuring airlines were undertaking to survive the global health pandemic, including efforts to trim payrolls and convince passengers it’s safe to fly. While it could take years for international air traffic to recover to previous levels, American is starting to show why making DFW its trans-Pacific hub makes sense.

American’s emphasis on its DFW hub started even before the pandemic. Last year, it fulfilled a plan to put 900 flights a day out of DFW, its fortress hub that can connect to nearly any other location it serves in the country.

That makes DFW an attractive launching point for Asia because it would be a single stop for most of American’s U.S. travelers, said a Dallas-based aviation consultant with Ailevon Pacific.

DFW has room to grow, too. The airport property is roughly the size of the island of Manhattan. There are plans for a new $3 billion terminal F at DFW that would give 24 more gates, mostly to American Airlines. While the pandemic put those plans on hold, airport officials expect the project to only be pushed back, not scrapped.
Well, New York and California probably don't want more flights anyway, for Gaia's sake. Oh, wait...
LAX has other drawbacks. Passengers with connecting flights in different terminals often have to go outside and re-enter security screening lines. The airport is also nearly at capacity, making it hard to expand.

Those long-haul flights can be very profitable for airlines, at least under the right circumstances. According to aviation data firm OAG, the three most profitable flights out of DFW Airport are a Sydney flight operated by Qantas and American’s Tokyo-Narita and London Heathrow flights. The DFW-Narita route brings in nearly $200,000 per flight. The DFW-LAX flight, the most frequent route from DFW, only brings in about $32,000 per flight.
I figure that's pre-pandemic, too.
"LAX is becoming very expensive for airlines to operate from and it’s extremely competitive, and that tends to lower airfares," said a travel consultant based in San Francisco. "It’s a matter of American focusing on where it can have the best return on a very expensive asset."

#1  Asians love to travel by train so when they land at DFW they can take the light rail from terminal c to almost any where in Dallas. Unfortunately the fare cops refuse to do their job for fear of catching Covid while checking passenger tickets so each train is loaded with non paying hobos sleeping on all the trains all day long. The fare checkers spend entire days sitting at Bachman Station train station since March.

Danish PM opposes bill banning circumcision, cites her promise to Jews
[JP] Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu thanked Frederiksen on Saturday for opposing the bill, according to a statement from the Prime Minister's Office.

Denmark’s prime minister opposes a bill seeking to ban the nonmedical circumcision of boys, saying "Danish Jews must continue to be part of Denmark."

Mette Frederiksen of the ruling Social Democrat party made the statement during an interview Thursday on TV2 about a bill submitted last month in parliament by a leader of the left-wing Forward party, which seeks to outlaw the circumcision of minors without medical reason as done by Muslims and Jews.

Frederiksen appeared to reference the fate of Danish Jews during the Holocaust, when hundreds of boat owners smuggled thousands of Jews to safety in Sweden and beyond the reach of the Nazi occupation.

"Many Jews do not find it compatible to live in a country where circumcision is banned," she said. "I simply do not believe that we can make a decision in which we do not live up to the promise we made, namely that the Danish Jews must continue to be part of Denmark."

Several major political parties have said they support a ban, which has widespread popular support in Denmark by those who believe it’s child abuse and opponents of Muslim immigration.
Rabbi Yitzi Loewenthal, the emissary of the Chabad Hasidic movement in Denmark, wrote in a statement that Danish Jews "are grateful to the prime minister and others who have come out clearly against" the bill.

"Denmark was a beacon of light," Loewenthal wrote, and "we hope that light burns strong and long."

Site of male sexual desire uncovered in brain
[EurekAlert] CHICAGO --- The locus of male sexual desire has been uncovered in specific regions of brain tissue where a key gene named aromatase is present, reports a new Northwestern Medicine study in mice.

The gene regulates sexual behavior in men, and thus can be targeted by drugs to either increase its function for low sexual desire or decrease its function for compulsive sexual desire, scientists said. Aromatase converts testosterone to estrogen in the brain, which drives male sexual activity.

The study was published Sept. 10 in the journal Endocrinology.

Aromatase's full function in the adult brain had not previously been known.

"This is the first key finding to explain how testosterone stimulates sexual desire," said senior author Dr. Serdar Bulun, chair of obstetrics and gynecology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and Northwestern Medicine. "For the first time, we demonstrated conclusively that the conversion of testosterone to estrogen in the brain is critical to maintain full sexual activity or desire in males. Aromatase drives that."

When Northwestern scientists knocked out aromatase selectively in the brain, sexual activity in male mice decreased by 50%, despite their having higher levels of blood testosterone levels (compared with control male mice).

"Male mice partially lost interest in sex," said corresponding study author Dr. Hong Zhao, research associate professor in obstetrics and gynecology at Feinberg. "Aromatase is the key enzyme for estrogen production. Estrogen has functions in males and females. Testosterone has to be converted to estrogen to drive sexual desire in males."

If a normal male mouse is put with a female one, Bulun said, "it would chase after her and try to have sex with her. If you knock out the aromatase gene in the brain, their sexual activity is significantly reduced. There is less frequency of mating. The male mice are not that interested."

The finding can contribute to new treatments for disorders of sexual desire, the scientists said.
