Afghanistan
Taliban Has Lost Command And Control Of War: Interior Minister Andarabi
We were wondering about the skill level of the Afghan forces the other day. Here is a datum:
[ToloNews] Confidence in Afghan forces grows after election, but fierce fighting spreads to the north.

The Taliban
...Arabic for students...
has lost the initiative in the war and has no choice but to join the grinding of the peace processor, the acting interior minister Massoud Andarabi said on Wednesday.

Andarabi, visiting Mazar-e-Sharif, the capital of Balkh province, said that security forces prevented the Taliban from gaining political power through fighting, and that the Taliban have no choice but to either join the grinding of the peace processor or be eliminated.

"The Taliban has lost command and control; the only way left for them is the grinding of the peace processor," Andarabi said.

Calling on Taliban members, Andarabi said: "If you can, come and achieve your goals through the way of peace. We have proven that the security and defense forces will certainly not allow any power to grow or succeed through the bloodshed of Afghan people."

Andarabi made these remarks at a ceremony concluding a training course for special forces soldiers and officers at the Special Forces Command Training Center in Mazar-e-Sharif.

Nearly 200 soldiers and officers of the Special Forces have received six months of professional training from local and foreign trainers.

The Ministry of Interior Special Police Units general commander, Brig. Mir Ahmad Azimi, and the Special Police Units Training Center commander attended the ceremony. During the remarks, it was announced that security forces have rescued the Zari district of Balkh, the Tala Wa Barfak district of Baghlan, and the Darzab district of Jawzjan province.

"Three days ago, there was a lot of fighting in the district of Drazab, but 45 of our troops went there and rescued the district, and those who went to rescue the district had graduated from this same center," Azimi said.

Meanwhile,
...back at the cheese factory, there was only one thought in the mouse's mind: I can do this! I can do this! Then the trap sprung...
an American trainer who spoke at the ceremony said that the soldiers’ newly-acquired skills will give them a competitive edge.

"I don’t care what enemy you face, Taliban, ISIS
...embracing their inner Islamic Brute...
, al-Qaeda, they are not as good as you. Yes, they are dangerous, but you are better trained and you are more determined and you will defeat them every time," said the American trainer.

Acting Minister Andarabi also praised the security forces for being impartial on the Presidential election day.

"The neutrality of the police in this election was unprecedented," Andarabi said.

The forces have obtained their certificates as insecurity has spread to a number of northern provinces, and Afghan people are now wondering whether they will take the initiative on the battlefield or not.

#1  An evaluation of Rantburg reporting on events in Afghanistan over the last six months would indicate either the reporting is phony or Afghan forces are really improving. On a single day multiple attacks on Taliban and other Islamists indicate a military able to react "globally" and quickly.

For cause, or did someone look at someone else funny? Yes, someone died — a more or less innocent relative — but no bad guys were involved, so I’m filing this on Page 2: War on Terror Background It’s the Afghan version of shouting at each other, and who are we to judge their culture?.

Pakistan and Taliban call for U.S. to resume Afghan peace talks
ISLAMABAD/PESHAWAR (Reuters) - Peace talks in Afghanistan must resume as soon as possible, Pakistan and the Taliban militant group urged on Thursday, after President Donald Trump broke off negotiations last month seeking to end the United States’ longest war.
"Hudna!"
Trump halted talks with the group, aimed at striking a deal for U.S. and other foreign troops to withdraw in exchange for Taliban security guarantees, after it carried out a bomb attack in Kabul that killed 12 people, including a U.S. soldier.

"Both sides agreed on the need for the earliest resumption of the peace process," Pakistan’s foreign office said in a statement on Thursday after Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi met a Taliban delegation that is visiting Islamabad.

The U.S. embassy in the Pakistani capital did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The United States has long considered Pakistan’s cooperation crucial to efforts to end the war in Afghanistan.

Europe
Paris knife attacker who killed 4 in police headquarters had converted to Islam
Follow up to yesterday's breaking report.
[NYPOST] The deranged employee who stabbed four people to death ‐ including three cops ‐ inside a Gay Paree police headquarters had converted to Islam 18 months ago, according to a report.

The 45-year-old deaf IT worker ‐ identified in media reports as Michael Harpon attacked three members of the police force’s intelligence division Thursday inside two ground floor offices, then went into a stairwell and assaulted two women, French newspaper Le Gay Pareeien reported.

One of the women survived and underwent emergency surgery after the attacks. She was listed at death's door.

The attacker was bumped off in a courtyard at the police facility by an officer described as a young "police trainee."

Harpon, a native of the island of Martinique, married in 2014, and he and his wife lived in a quite suburb north of Gay Paree, according to Le Gay Pareeien.

He converted to Islam 18 months ago but neighbors told local news hounds that there were no signs he was radicalized ‐ nor are police in Gay Paree treating the incident as a terrorist attack.

French authorities took the man’s wife into custody in the aftermath of the grisly attack, according to CNN.

The fifth victim in the stabbing was at death's door and underwent surgery Thursday.

#4  Michael Harpon, 45 year old ni ...err, wakandan IT guy was (affirmatively) given a police job by Gay Paree 16 years ago.Attention, s'il vous plaît ! les personnes aveugles, sourdes et handicapées sont nécessaires au travail de la police.
In 2014, he married wakandan muslim Ilham Edibbe Yupp ! who radicalized him over a period of 4 years, while bearing him a brood of future crazies, two I believe. Now, she says he was hearing odd voices and seeing things.
I should think a deaf man'd be pretty pleased to hear anything, innit ? But nope. A Beethoven he was not.
Since 2018 he was probably mustering up the ingrate gall needed to shit upon the country and the people that he'd worked with for years. He had been actively posting to and delving into the facebook journals of fellow mullah chimps black islamic revolutionaries from Mogadishu to Khartoum. He got an undetectable ceramic knife through mandatory checking into the premises, and ... did his thing, his stuff.

Terrorism is being denied by the police but the wife is under investigation by the French DGSI, it is believed to have an ISIS connection, which is why she's been detained for now.

#9  Thanks, guys ! Oh, I was never in any danger. A lot of boat rides and kebabs. Some slapping of indigent louts that local incompetents assured us were surely warmongering kaliphs from Afghanistan. Goose chase, that sort of thing.

A report ?

Contrary to popular news, the locals are quite happy with the integration thingy, their only issue is with the inability to watch netflicks and video call uncle Abdul in Dubai. The state boundaries will be redrawn soon, creating different administrative divisions and public service corporations. This should allow for last-mile reach of many hitherto unavailable services to most people, including the thin long arm of the law. /sarc

About a hundred children were 'detained', yes. They were fed, clothed and put in a nice playschool with psychiatrists and toys after they were found wandering, begging in the streets and offering to throw stones for islamists at Rs. 10 per projectile. Heartless.

The trouble in Soura shall shortly be taken care of. We're treating it with sensitivity and in a rather humane way. We won't rush in guns blazing. The plan for now is to simply starve them, and make them watch their near-district neighbours avail of public services.

Top secessionist leaders' accounts were seized and their properties, any capital accrued for their NGOs, all appropriated by the central govt. All of it designated as illegal and part of terror financing networks, even grannies' piggybanks taken away. The Andrabi lady's money is gone POOf ! Top Hurriyat leaders are now destitute. Not that they'll need money in jail. I wonder who shall pay the burqa-ed freedom fighter's son's school fee in Australia. Oh well...

A number of louts were roaming in the valley shooting up and threatening people not to open their shops or send kids to school, so as to give an impression a lá Xinjiang. Some of these shall never be seen again, some are in jail indefinitely. Two govt owned holiday resorts full of dissident nuisances are being investigated slowly, there cases shall keep the public prosecutors entertained for another decade or so.

So there. Hmmm... rather eventful in retrospect.

#14  The trouble in Soura

I think we must have missed that one... or I did while visiting trailing daughter #2 and her husband. What happened, Dron66046?
Posted by: trailing wife || 10/04/2019 16:26 Comments || Top||

#15  TW, Soura is a small community residential half a klick west of the Leh-Srinagar highway, situated on Anchar lake. It's a pretty little place but home to some of the most pig-headed muslims and host Pakistain infiltrated mujahids who cross into Kashmir. Also called the Gaza of Kashmir, as if that's an achievement. We're not allowed to go in there, and they'll stone us if we approach.

Many jihadists are holed up in there, behind families and facades of normal homes and schools. They've declared themselves 'independent' for the 740th time and have barricaded their village with stuff. Because those living here are the most radicalized of all in Kashmir, it is probable we'd have to do something ... unsavory to a large number of people.

So, there's constant brainstorming about how best to break their will and mainstream these bastards, without appearing like bad guys. One reason may be the fact that it's also the home constituency of the Abdullahs, the original dynasts who have ruled Kashmir for decades before the left lost power to outright secessionists. But, I really don't know why we can't just kill 'em all.

The Grand Turk
Turkish opposition leader vows to expose Erdogan’s policies in Syria
[ALMASDARNEWS] Head of the Ottoman Turkish Republican People’s Party (CHP) Kemal Kilicdaroglu called for dialogue and coordination with Syria and for unifying efforts to eliminate terrorist organizations, particularly in in the Idlib Governorate, saying that his party will continue to expose the policies of His Enormity, Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
...Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey. In Anatolia did Recep Bey a stately Presidential Palace decree, that has 1100 rooms. That's 968 more than in the White House, 400 more than in Versailles, and 325 more than Buckingham Palace, so you know who's really more important...
’s regime.

During a meeting of the CHP Executive Committee on Wednesday, Kilicdaroglu referred to the concluding statement of the conference which was organized by his party a few days ago with the participation of other parties, saying "It is clear that there is no solution to the crisis in Syria except through political means which entails a joint work against all terrorist organizations which spread in it, particularly in Idlib."

The concluding statement called upon the authorities of Erdogan’s regime to pull out the Ottoman Turkish troops from the Syrian territories and to stop supporting terrorists, particularly in the Idlib province.

Kilicdaroglu, during the meeting of the Executive Committee, underlined the necessity of dialogue and direct coordination with the Syrian state in order to solve the crisis in Syria and to overcome its consequences in a way that would reflect positively on the nations of the region.

Over the past years, Erdogan’s regime has supported the destabilization of Syria through different means, including the transfer of arms to krazed killer groups and providing these gangs with unlimited access to Syria’s northern border.

India-Pakistan
Researchers warn India-Pakistan nuclear war could kill 100 million
[DAWN] The year is 2025 and bandidos Death Eaters have attacked India's parliament, killing most of its leaders. New Delhi retaliates by sending tanks into Azad Jammu and Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there....
(AJK).

Fearing it will be overrun, Islamabad hits the invading forces with its battlefield nuclear weapons, triggering the deadliest conflict in history ‐ and catastrophic global cooling, with temperatures not seen since the last Ice Age.

This scenario was modelled by researchers in a new paper published on Wednesday, which envisaged more than 100 million immediate deaths, followed by global mass starvation after megatons of thick black soot block out sunlight for up to a decade.

It comes at a time of renewed tensions between the two South Asian rivals, which have fought several wars over the Kashmir Valley and are rapidly building up their atomic arsenals.

They currently each have about 150 nuclear warheads at their disposal, with the number expected to climb to more than 200 by 2025.

"Unfortunately it's timely because India and Pakistain remain in conflict over Kashmir, and every month or so you can read about people dying along the border," Alan Robock, a professor in environmental sciences at Rutgers University, who co-authored the paper in Science Advances, told AFP.

#4  Sadly blast plumes rise and are spread by high altitude winds. This is prob the best(?) location though as the winds will be channeled by the Himalayas and hopefully cooled, dropping the debris onto the eastern China deserts before it is forced into the northern jet stream.

#5  triggering the deadliest conflict in history ‐ and catastrophic global cooling, with temperatures not seen since the last Ice Age.

We're told by our betters that global warming and overpopulation are existential threats to humanity, so this seems like a rather positive outcome. There is a bright side to everything!

#6  Any such war would be fought in POK this time. So if battlefield nukes is all they'll use - it should mean Gilgit Baltistan would be affected most. And the first detection of beta 1 radiation in the conflict shall end the world's long suffering of the 'Stain really. If the TNWs are used in the summer, the winds will carry the rads to China for sure. Besides, China cannot allow an islamic nuke to royally destroy the OBOR pipe dream, now can it ?

The researchers know probably jack and shit about an integrated battle doctrine and the exigencies the Pakistain leaderships have to negotiate to stay in power. Imran Khan couldn't care less about Kashmir or a war. All he wants is to keep the crazies away from himself. I imagine he has to plead with his ISI honchos to keep a lid on their mullah dealings until the next world bank aid is approved. For that he'll say anything and even threaten armageddon at the UN against India. He knows and they all know KAshmir's a moot point by now.

Unsurprisingly, the study concludes with : "There's very little in the history of Indo-Pakistan kinetic conflict to suggest that leadership on either side would continue escalating until they annihilated the other." "But I needed the attention, my tenure almost up, see ?"

I understand that suitcase nukes are all the rage, but for inner city suitcases I expect, not as TNW.

#8  A 'suitcase nuke' worth investing the millions that would go into it up to delivery and detonation, would be the size of a small fridge at best. India could just as easily have muslim mercs assemble one right within Pakistain, but not the other way round.

They have more TNWs than longer range strategic missiles. Their Nasr The chinese WS-2 repainted a dung green really. is also a battlefield nuke. The longer range stuff has never been tested for the Indian threat matrix collated for them over the years by foreign militaries. When a Paki officer pees, someone shows him how to unzip first. I doubt the design and delivery of a suitcase nuke is something anyone would help them with, or NY or at least Bombay would have been bigger hits.

#9  I see someone dusted off Carl Sagan's penultimate hoax, nuclear winter. Remember how well he predicted the eternal autumn from the inextinguishable oil well fired sparked by Saddam?

Oh, yeah, US teams put out the fires in a couple of weeks, and there wasn't even any short-term effects from the plumes, let alone long-term.

ISTR later models determine "nuclear winter" wouldn't be a thing, either. For all the energy of the U.S. and USSR arsenals, it wasn't enough to launch enough dust or soot to compare to, say, Krakatoa.

PPP, PML-N's position uncertain as Fazl announces 'Azadi march' against govt on October 27
[DAWN] Jamaat Ulema-e-Islam
...a Pak religious party. It is usually part of the govt, never part of the solution...
- Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman
...Deobandi holy man, known as Mullah Diesel during the war against the Soviets, his sympathies for the Taliban have never been tempered by honesty...
announced on Thursday that the party will begin its anti-government 'Azadi march' on October 27.

"The current government is the result of a fake election and fake results," said Rehman during a presser.

The PPP and PML-N, who along with the JUI-F had been holding near-daily meetings with each other to debate the anti-government action to be taken, have yet to indicate whether they will join the march on Oct 27.

The JUI-F chief said that all opposition parties had rejected the July 25, 2018 elections and had called for fresh elections. "In this regard, the Jamaat Ulema-e-Islam and Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal have carried out 15 'million marches' in the country to raise awareness among the people," he said.

"As a result of this illegal government and its incompetencies, the country's economy has sunk [...] traders have shut down businesses as a result of heavy taxation. The Moslems of Pakistain are in anguish over the state of religion in the country," he continued.

He said a meeting of JUI-F members was held today in which it was decided that on October 27 ‐ the day celebrated by Kashmiris across the world as Black Day ‐ the party will express complete solidarity with Kashmiris and with those demonstrations, a march on Islamabad will begin.

"This will be an Azadi march. Groups of people from all over the country will embark on this journey which will culminate in Islamabad, where we will send the government packing," he said.

Corps commanders reiterate resolve to give 'befitting response' to any Indian aggression
[DAWN] The military's top brass on Thursday reiterated its resolve to give a befitting response to any Indian misadventure or aggression directed towards Pakistain and not to make any compromises which deny the right of self-determination to the people of occupied Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain.
The resolve was expressed during a Corps Commanders Conference presided over by Army Chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa at GHQ today.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement that the meeting reviewed the "geostrategic and national security environment" along with the prevailing situation in Indian-occupied Kashmir, which has been under a crippling lockdown for nearly two months now.

"Commanders reiterated resolve for befitting response to any Indian misadventure or aggression being conveyed through irresponsible media statements by Indian military commanders," the military's media wing said.

Afghan Taliban delegation meets Qureshi at foreign ministry
[DAWN] The high-level Afghan Taliban
...mindless ferocity in a turban...
delegation currently in Islamabad to meet the Pak leadership was received by Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Wormtongue Qureshi
...a Pak political shape-changer. He is undistinguished except for his habit of periodically needing to have his lips reattached...
at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Thursday morning, according to a blurb issued by the Foreign Office (FO).

During their meeting with the foreign minister, the delegation of the Taliban Political Commission (TPC) in Doha discussed the regional situation, the Afghan grinding of the peace processor and other issues of mutual interest.

Inter-Services Intelligence
...the Pak military intelligence agency that controls the military -- heads of ISI typically get promoted into the Chief of Army Staff position. It serves as a general command center for favored turban groups such as Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammad, tries to influence the politix of neighboring countries, and carries out a (usually) low-level war against India in Kashmir...
Director General Lt Gen Faiz Hameed, Foreign Affairs Secretary Sohail Mahmood and other FO officials were present for the meeting.

According to the FO, this is the first visit of a Taliban delegation to Pakistain since the establishment of the TPC.

The FO had revealed a deal earlier that an Afghan Taliban delegation was to visit Islamabad to review progress under the stalled US-Taliban peace talks.

"Both countries are equally facing the consequences of instability in Afghanistan over the past 40 years," Qureshi was reported as telling the delegation. He also said that Pakistain understands that war is not the solution to any problem.

Qureshi said that in order to establish peace in Afghanistan, negotiations were the only possible and "positive" option.

The foreign minister said that Pakistain has played the mediator's role in the Afghan peace progress and emphasised that a peaceful Afghanistan was necessary for peace and stability in the entire region.

Rina Shnerb's Alleged Murderer Linked To European-Funded BDS Affiliates
More details about this report from Tuesday.
[Jpost] Samer Arbid, the alleged leader of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Paleostine (PFLP) terrorist cell responsible for murdering 17-year-old Rina Shnerb near Dolev in August, worked for a Europe
...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
an-funded NGO linked to BDS, NGO Monitor reported on Wednesday.

According to the NGO Monitor, Arbid was listed as an accountant for Addameer (Arabic for conscience) Prisoner Support and Human Rights Association, a Paleostinian NGO that provides legal representation to Paleostinians detained in Israel. The Ramallah-based organization’s mandate includes "ending torture and other forms of cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment inflicted upon Paleostinian prisoners" and "guaranteeing fair, impartial and public trials." The organization was listed as a PFLP-affiliated institution on Fatah’s website in September 2015.

According to NGO Monitor, Addameer has received funding from numerous EU members and European government institutions, including the Heinrich Böll Foundation, Irish Aid, the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Basque Government and the Municipality of Barcelona.

Arbid has also worked for the Union of Agricultural Work Committees (UAWC), which was also identified by Fatah as a PFLP affiliate. It was also identified by USAID as the Popular Front’s "agricultural arm," and described by Middle East researcher Glenn E. Robinson as an organization established by "agronomics loosely affiliated with the PFLP."

The UAWC also receives funding from European states and institutions, including Grassroots International, the UN OCHA, and the Dutch and Norwegian governments, according to NGO Monitor. Since 2016, the UAWC has received nearly NOK 39 million ($4.3M) from Norwegian People’s Aid and more than €8 million from the Netherlands.

In 2017-2021, the Netherlands’ Representative Office in Ramallah granted the organization $11.3 million to "implement the second phase of the Land and Water Resource Management program."

"For years, we have been warning about the phenomenon of European governmental support for Paleostinian civil-society organizations linked to the Popular Front for the Liberation of Paleostine, an internationally-designated terror-group," said Prof. Gerald Steinberg, founder and president of NGO Monitor. "This week’s announcement makes clear that the PFLP remains active and deadly."

"Years of NGO Monitor research shows that Addameer, which advocates itself on behalf of PFLP terrorists, plays an integral role in the PFLP-NGO network," Steinberg said. "Our reports on the group, which previously identified Arbid by name, leave no doubt that European governments and UN agencies should immediately cease funding Addameer and launch a thorough investigation of how taxpayers’ funds were disbursed to a group with a clear, terror-linked record."

Since the early 2000s, both Addameer and UAWC have shown deep ties to the BDS movement, having signed a petition to "isolate Apartheid Israel...forging effective solidarity with the Paleostinian struggle for freedom, self-determination and illusory sovereignty."

In 2014, Addameer and UAWC, alongside other Paleostinian civil movements and NGOs, signed a joint call to action against the "apartheid wall," stating "It is time for a ’legal intifada,’ an intensified struggle and more boycotts, divestment and sanctions." The organizations have endorsed the BDS movement, calling upon the public to "expand and deepen the global BDS movement for justice."

Russia cautions Israel against further strikes in Syria
[ALMASDARNEWS] Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told the Asharq al-Awsat publication this week that Israeli Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
s inside Syria might lead to further destabilization inside Syria.

"Such actions ... further destabilize the situation and could lead to an escalation," Asharq al-Awsat reported Lavrov as saying.

"Syria should not become a platform for implementing plans or settling accounts. The main task of all concerned forces must be to help restore peace to Syrian territory," he added.

Last month, the situation along the Israeli-Lebanese border reached a tipping point when both the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) and Hezbollah traded attacks.

What began as an Israeli attack on a Hezbollah compound in Damascus quickly turned into an intense conflict between the two forces, with the IDF using a suicide drone to attack the Hezbollah media center in the southern suburbs of Beirut.
"Suicide drone". Let that one sink in
Hezbollah later retaliated by firing a guided missile at an Israeli military vehicle near the southern border of Leb.

Yossi Cohen: The Mossad spy chief who stole Iran's secret nuclear archives
[Jerusalem Post] It was not the first time Mossad director Yossi Cohen took the elevator up to the CIA director’s office on the seventh floor of the building known as Langley. But this meeting in March 2018 was different. This was not a regular courtesy call. Cohen was about to update one of his closest allies ‐ CIA director Mike Pompeo ‐ with information that had the potential to change the world and the course of history.

In his three-and-a-half years as the Mossad’s spy chief, Cohen, 58, has transformed the organization into a hard-hitting, risk-taking, history-altering machine. This applies to the Iran arena, to hunting down Hamas’s weapons development, and to convincing African nations as well as Sunni Arab states to go more public about their ties with Israel.

He is the gutsy spy who personally ordered and managed the Mossad’s daring raid to steal Iran’s secret nuclear archives from the heart of Tehran in January 2018. His meeting with Pompeo two months later, but before anything was publicly revealed, was to update him on what the Mossad had found.

#1  "Sources close to Cohen have told The Jerusalem Post that the information the Mossad seized in Tehran is “still being used right now” – as Cohen likes to tell his men – to glean high-quality and valuable intelligence. A map of nuclear sites captured in the operation has yet to be made public. These revelations “even go beyond Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s revelation of the Abadeh nuclear site” in early September."

Russia offers to form security organization to protect Persian Gulf
[ALMASDARNEWS] Russia offers to establish an organization with the participation of Russia, the US, EU states and other countries in order to resolve the issues in the Persian Gulf, Russian President Vladimir Putin
...President-for-Life of Russia. He gets along well with other presidents for life. He is credited with bringing political stability and re-establishing something like the rule of law, which occasionally results in somebody dropping dead from poisoning by polonium or other interesting substance. Under Putin, a new group of business magnates controlling significant swathes of Russia's economy has emerged, all of whom have close personal ties to him. The old bunch, without close personal ties to Putin, are in jail or in exile or dead from poisoning by polonium or other interesting substances...
stressed on Thursday during the plenary session of the Valdai Discussion Club.

"I would like to remind you that following this logic, Russia has come up with the concept of ensuring collective security in the Persian Gulf in July of this year. I think that taking into account the volatile and unpredictable situation in the region, the idea remains topical. We offer to put aside our differences and mutual claims and to establish an organization for security and cooperation in the region basically from scratch, which would include the Gulf States and which could involve Russia, China, the US, the EU, India and other interested states as observers," he said.

On July 23, the Russian Foreign Ministry introduced a concept of collective security in the Persian Gulf region.

The concept includes forming an initiative group to organize an international conference on security and cooperation in the Persian Gulf area, which would lead to the establishment of an organization for security and cooperation in the region. Besides, Moscow offered to establish demilitarized zones in the region, abandon permanent deployment of units of non-regional states and establish military hotlines.

Earlier, during a joint presser on the outcomes of the talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Iranian top diplomat Mohammad Javad Zarif welcomed the Russian initiative. He added that Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. Ooh... coffee time, with small biscuits sprinkled with sugar. By the way, was that statement actually supposed to mean anything?

And how they are going to do this? They, the Soviets Russians being a "non-regional state", that is.

Iran denies ships carrying grain are held up outside ports over payment
[PRESSTV] Iranian authorities have rejected reports suggesting that ships carrying imports of food and grain have been stuck outside two main ports in southern Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. simply because American sanctions on the country are creating payment problems.

A senior government official in the southern Iranian province of Khuzestan confirmed on Thursday that ships carrying basic goods were waiting for discharge outside Imam Khomeini Port, Iran’s main port for goods, but he insisted they had been stuck because of increased import activity at the port.

The comments came after the Rooters news agency claimed in a report that at least 20 dry bulk ships carrying around one million tons of grains were waiting outside Imam Khomeini Port for unloading. It said other vessels had waited for weeks for their cargoes to be processed in the port and in Bandar Abbas, another major cargo port on the Persian Gulf.

#1  Imam Khomeini port is one of the hottest most miserable ports on earth. Food and grain in bulk are perishable commodities; thus, there indeed must be something wrong if the ships are not being off-loaded.

Terror Networks
US sanctions squeezing Iran-backed Hezbollah in Lebanon
BEIRUT (AP) ‐ The conflict between Iran and the U.S. that has created tensions throughout much of the Middle East is now also being felt in Lebanon, where Washington has slapped sanctions on the Iran-backed Hezbollah and warned they could soon expand to its allies, further deepening the tiny Arab country’s economic crisis.

The Trump administration has intensified sanctions on the Lebanese militant group and institutions linked to it to unprecedented levels, targeting lawmakers for the first time as well as a local bank that Washington claims has ties to the group.

Two U.S. officials visited Beirut in September and warned the sanctions will increase to deprive Hezbollah of its sources of income. The push is further adding to Lebanon’s severe financial and economic crisis, with Lebanese officials warning the country’s economy and banking sector can’t take the pressure.

"We have taken more actions recently against Hezbollah than in the history of our counterterrorism program," Sigal P. Mandelker, undersecretary for terrorism and financial intelligence at the U.S. Treasury, said in the United Arab Emirates last month.
