Man charged in murders of a black transgender woman and two others in Dallas
[NYDAILYNEWS] A man was charged with murder in three recent killings in Dallas, Texas, including the murder of Muhlaysia Booker, a black transgender woman whose death made national headlines last month, police announced Wednesday.

Dallas Police Department major Max Geron said in a presser that they arrested 34-year-old Kendrell Lavar Lyles in the murder of Booker, and a man and woman, both unnamed, in three separate cases.

He also was named a "person of interest" in the murder of another transgender woman, 26-year-old Chynal Lindsey.

On June 5, police arrested the suspect for the shooting death of a female, who’d been killed on May 22. A tip from a witness to another shooting in the same Dallas area led police to link Lyles to the killing of a man after a drug transaction altercation, on May 23.

During the course of the investigation of the two murders, detectives noticed that Lyles drove "the same type of car that is believed to have picked up Muhlaysia Booker on May 18," adding that cell phone records showed that the suspect was around the area where Booker was last seen.

Malaysian singer arrested after rescuing bear she thought was a dog
[NYPOST] A singer in Malaysia was reportedly arrested after she rescued a "dog" from the side of the road ‐ that she later realized was a sun bear.

Zarith Sofia Yasin, 27, told local media she came across the apparently ambiguous creature at night in recent weeks and decided to take it in, believing she was saving it.

"It was night time when I found the bear cub in a weakened state by the side of the road ‐ and I thought it was a dog!" she said, according to The Star.

The animal ‐ which she named "Bruno" ‐ was weak. She said that she wanted to help the bear regain its strength before handing it over to a zoo, the news outlet reported.

"I was worried about sending Bruno to the zoo (while it was ill) because the animals there look skinny," she said, adding she fed the bear well and didn’t keep it in a cage.

Yasin reportedly said: "I know the bear cannot be reared, it can’t be kept as a pet . . . I only wanted to save the bear, I had no intention of exploiting it."

The singer was arrested on Friday by Malaysia’s Wildlife and National Parks Department, according to the news outlet, for allegedly keeping the sun bear in her condo without a permit.

The charge under Section 69 (1) of the Wildlife Protection Act carries a maximum fine of RM200,000 ($48,000) or jail of up to 10 years, or both, if convicted, according to The Jakarta Post.

36 Memphis Police And Deputies Hurt In Protests After Deadly Shooting
[NPR.ORG] Thirty-six Memphis Police Department officers and sheriff's deputies were maimed during a large protest Wednesday night, the police department said Thursday. The violence erupted like lava from a volcano after officers of the U.S. Marshals Service shot and killed Brandon Webber, 20.

The shooting occurred around 7 p.m. local time, as officers from the U.S. Marshals Service as part of the Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force tried to take a man into custody. When the officers approached the man, law enforcement officials said, he was getting into his car in the Frayser community in northern Memphis, Tenn.

That man was Webber, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, which is investigating the case. The U.S. Marshals Service says he was wanted on "multiple felony warrants."

When the officers tried to stop Webber, "he reportedly rammed his vehicle into the officers' vehicles multiple times before exiting with a weapon," the TBI says.

"The officers fired striking and killing the individual," according to the TBI.

Residents began to gather in the street, looking for answers, reports local TV news Fox 13. Shelby County Commissioner Tami Sawyer was among the first officials to identify the slain man publicly. She also said the local community has a reason to distrust the police.

Trump's troop talk again rattles Germany's security assumptions
[DW] US President Donald Trump
...The man who was so stupid he beat fourteen professional politicians, a former tech CEO, and a brain surgeon for the Republican nomination in 2016, then beat The Smartest Woman in the World in the general election...
announced the US will send upward of 1,000 troops to Poland. The plan was light on details, but Trump said he knew where the forces would come from: Germany. Berlin's reaction is mixed.

Polish officials had been lobbying the Trump administration for a permanent US troop presence in their country. What they got was a more vague outline "affirming the significant defense cooperation between our nations," as US President Donald Trump said at Wednesday's presser at the White House with Polish President Andrzej Duda.

#1  We did such a fantastic job of protecting Germany that they don't understand why they need to be protected. They literally don't get why armies are necessary. They feel morally superior because their government doesn't pay for bombs. They'd prefer to spend the money on a welfare state while ruthlessly shitting all over the USA for protecting them.

"If any Western European government would follow these ideas of Washington, they would be kicked out of office by their own population," he predicted. "There is no feeling among Western Europeans that there is a military, economic or political threat by the Russian Federation, which would justify the behavior of President Trump in Brussels."

Antifa attacks a bus filled with cancer patients in Berlin
[freewestmedia] Masked leftists attacked a bus in Berlin travelling with cancer patients.

The attack in the quarter Kreuzberg on Thursday was aimed at participants of a real estate congress, reported Berlin daily, the Berliner Morgenpost.

The unsuspecting, innocent and suffering cancer patients from Berlin were on their way to an event in the district of Oberschöneweide. According to police, the bus was travelling with a group of about 50 people when it was suddenly bombarded with eggs, tomatoes and paint bombs.

India may slap retaliatory tariffs on American goods ahead of Pompeo's visit next week
[RT] New Delhi is preparing to respond against unfriendly US trade policies directed at it, by hiking levies on 29 American goods, in all worth up to $290 million, Indian media has reported, citing its sources.

The retaliatory measure may be implemented from June 16, according to the Economic Times daily newspaper. The tariffs are set to target walnuts, chickpeas, lentils, boric acid and diagnostic reagents, among other US products.

India has been threatening the US with retaliatory tariffs since last June, after the Trump administration slapped extra duties on the country’s steel and aluminum exports. However, New Delhi postponed introducing the response measure several times since then, citing ongoing trade negotiations with Washington.

“There will be no further extension of the retaliatory tariffs,” the Economic Times reported, citing an official familiar with the matter, who added that India’s commerce department and external affairs ministry support the decision. The Indian government has not officially announced the tariffs nor has it commented on the report, so far.

Apart from additional tariffs, US President Donald Trump annulled India’s trade benefits stipulated under the Generalized System of Preferences (GSP) program, starting June 5. Around $5.6 billion-worth of Indian products used to enjoy duty-free access to the American market annually under the GSP deal.

Washington maintains that New Delhi failed to provide American companies with “equitable and reasonable” access to local markets. At the same time the US has been seeking to narrow its $21-billion trade deficit with India while accusing the country of ‘unfair’ trade practices.

#6  Leftist media source though.

Compounded by Russia Today trying to stir up trouble. Also, I note all the indefinite verbiage — preparing, may be implemented, threatening, postponed, not officially announced, possible introduction — and all the anonymous government officials.

I also note, neither profoundly nor originally, that there are two ways to reduce trade deficits: increase American exports to the country or decrease American imports from it. Either way will hurt India more than it does the U.S.

Oberlin College hit with maximum PUNITIVE DAMAGES (capped at $22 million by law) in Gibson's Bakery case
h/t Instapundit
The jury just rendered its verdict on punitive damages in the Gibson’s Bakery v. Oberlin College case.

Daniel McGraw, our reporter in the courtroom, reports that in addition to the $11.2 million compensatory damages awarded last Friday, the jury awarded a total of $33 million in punitive damages, which will probably be reduced by the court to $22 million because of the state law cap at twice compensatory (it’s not an absolute cap, but probably will apply here). That brings the total damages to $33 million. We will have the breakdown soon. The jury also awarded attorney’s fees, to be determined by the judge.
Maybe we should have a subheading "II Civil War News", or since it's not restricted to USA, "Western Civil War News"?
