[Tolo News] Three turbans were killed and two were maimed during a series of coordinated operations over the past 24 hours carried out by the Afghan National Army (ANA), Afghan National Police (ANP) and National Directorate of Security (NDS), the Afghan Ministry of Interior said in a statement on Saturday.
Ten other turbans were incarcerated Maw! They're comin' to get me, Maw! in the operations.
The operations led by Afghan forces intensify across the country as Afghanistan is moving closer to the elections in less than three months.
The operations were conducted in Nangarhar The unfortunate Afghan province located adjacent to Mohmand, Kurram, and Khyber Agencies. The capital is Jalalabad. The province was the fief of Younus Khalis after the Soviets departed and one of his sons is the current provincial Taliban commander. Nangarhar is Haqqani country.. , Laghman and Kandahar provinces.
"Also, during these operations, Afghan National Police discovered and confiscated light and heavy rounds ammunition and IEDs," it said.
The statement did not report any casualties amongst the Afghan forces or local civilians.
There are over 350,000 Afghan soldiers serving at the moment. Foreign troops are due to leave Afghanistan by the end of 2014, after handing over full security responsibility to the Afghan forces.

[Shabelle] SIX youth suspected to be alshabab recruits were on Thursday evening intercepted by the police in Mararani area in Lamu East.
Police intercepted the youth as they attempted to croos into Somalia through Kiunga route.
The six Faraj Fahim Swaleh ,Twafiq Swaleh, Nabil Mohammed Lali, Fara Abdi Kassim and Mohammed Abdalla are being held at Lamu Police Station.
Lamu East police boss Samson Obara said detectives acting on intelligence reports intercepted a passenger bus plying the Mombasa-Lamu road.
He said the youth planned to sneak into Somalia through Kiunga border to join the altshaabab Death Eaters.
"We placed in durance vile Maw! They're comin' to get me, Maw! them at 5pm. They are believed to have left Mombasa on Wednesday at around 2pm. We were informed by our people that they had boarded a Tahmeed Company bus before boarding another bus."
Obara said the youths aged between 16 and 18 years claimed they were going for a fishing expedition in Somalia.
"We had suspected that they were within Hindi, Mokowe and Lamu Island. We arrested them between Kiunga and Maangani in a place known as Mararani," he said.
Police said the six are among foreigners who have joined the alshabab group to undergo military training and carryout offensives inside Somalia.
Intelligence agents said the youth are trained how to assemble and detonate bombs, use weapons, and carry out terror strikes.
Obara said the youth are the latest batch of myrmidon youths joining the Rag tag alshabab terror group blamed plotting attacks in the country since the incursion of Kenya Defence Forces' troops in Somalia in 2011.
The youth were yesterday handed over to a team of anti terrorism coppers for further grilling.
The detectives confiscated their mobile phones to assist in apprehending key alshabab recruiters in the country.
Speaking to the star on phone Obara said, "We will contact mobile phone companies to establish their communication to establish the wide network of alshabab recruitment,"
The police officer said the bully boyz have developed several operational cells in Mombasa Kisauni Kilifi and south coast for the purpose of recruiting and launching attacks from within the country.
A Kenyan Fuad Abubakar Manswad, an accomplice of German terror suspect John Jermaine Grant is among key Death Eater leaders suspected to be funding and recruiting youths.
A senior ATPU said Abubakar is suspected to be coordinating the terror activities in the country by funding and training youth to fight in Somalia and launch attacks in Kenya.
Abubakar was arrested with Grant and charged with being in possession of explosives as they allegedly planned to carryout attacks in Mombasa on December 2010 in Kisauni district.
He however later jumped bail in November 2011 after he was released on Sh 20 milion bond.
The police boss implored members of the public to cooperate with the police to curb any crime in the area
"We are urging our people to help us catch any suspicious person in the town and along the Ocean. Without their cooperation we will not be able to fight crimes effectively," he said.
The police boss said that there was no need for alarm. He encouraged tourists to visit the area.
"We haveput a round the clock surveillance and therefore there is no need for any alarm. All those tourists who have planned to be in Lamu should come because security here is very tight," said he.

[An Nahar] Sudan said on Saturday it disarmed more than 50 fighters from the southern Nuer tribe who crossed the border, in the first such incident since fighting began between the South Sudan army and rebel troops.
South Sudan rebel leader Riek Machar is from the Nuer tribe while President Salva Kiir belongs to the majority Dinka.
"On January 9 roughly a battalion of Nuer crossed the border in the Heglig area," Sudan Armed Forces front man Sawarmi Khaled Saad said in a statement.
"We disarmed 54 of them and treated them as refugees."
The rest, who refused to turn over their weapons, were "expelled" and returned to South Sudan, he added.
Heglig is in Sudan's South Kordofan state, adjacent to the South's oil-producing Unity state.
The border between the two countries has not been demarcated.
On Friday Machar's rebel forces lost control of Unity's capital Bentiu to government troops.
Battles that began on December 15 with festivities inside army units sparked a sharp upsurge in ethnic violence between the Dinka and Nuer communities.
Fighting has killed well over 1,000 people and forced about 43,000 to flee as refugees, mostly to Uganda, Æthiopia and Kenya, the United Nations ...an organization which on balance has done more bad than good, with the good not done well and the bad done thoroughly... said.
Only 168 "brother Southern Sudanese citizens", mostly women and kiddies, have crossed into Sudan, the country's Humanitarian Aid Commissioner said on Friday, according to official media.

The individual who has caused this uproar has been Riak Machar, the Nuer tribal who in his long unhappy history has been a former leader of the Sudan Peoples Liberation Army, a traitor who joined Bashir's Muslim military forces, and then jumped back when it appeared that the South would win its independence from Khartoum. For his many very evil works, he should be tried, just as Bashir should be tried, in the International Court of Justice (although there is fat chance of that). Barring that, he should be offed soon.
Accountability is gone. Bashir thrives. I don't know this, but I imagine Machar has an understanding with Bashir that he gets to be pres. of SS if/when the north retakes the oil fields/control of the oil.

While preaching what the COR wants to hear or have done overall for SS, you have to wonder about the real agenda for a contractor wanting to continue at full speed with its work in the conditions there. News added that the injury of Sadak Moallim Ahmed was rushed to Madina hospital in Mogadishu for treatment.

MOGADISHU -- At least seven Somali Federal Government soldiers died after suspected Al Shabaab militiamen attacked a security checkpoint in the outskirts of Afgoye town of southern Somalia on Friday morning, Garowe Online reports.
Local reports say that 12 soldiers were also wounded in the ambush and the attackers immediately escaped unharmed from scene of the deadly incident.
Shortly after the morning prayer, gunmen attacked soldiers manning a checkpoint and killed 7 soldiers, said an eyewitness who spoke on condition of anonymity because of his security.

GARBAHARAY -- A Kenyan fighter jet reportedly killed 30 Al Shabaab militants in Birta Dheer vicinity which lies 30 km south of Gedo regional capital of Garbaharay in southern Somalia on Thursday, Garowe Online reports.
Kenyas military spokesperson Friday told the media that high ranking officials including Al Shabaab Chief Ahmed Godane were meeting in the area when the air strike started.
The attack was pre-planned and we killed 30 Al Shabaab militants including commanders, said the Kenyan military spokesperson.
Witnesses reported that scores of civilians sustained injuries during the aerial attack that targeted Al Shabaab gathering.
The area where Kenya targeted with the air strike remains under the control of Al Qaeda linked Al Shabaab group as Somali and Ethiopian troops in the region had since been unable to seize several areas in Gedo region from Al Shabaab militants.
Kenya bombarded a training camp near Bay regional district of Diinsoor in October 2013, killing 300 Al Shabaab fighters according to the government.
Following a series of kidnappings and killings by Al Shabaab infiltrators in Kenyas northeastern part, the neighboring nation currently maintains the presence of 3600 soldiers on Somalia soil as part of African Union Mission in Somalia

[Libya Herald] Violent festivities between Tebu rustics and members of the Awlad Sulieman clan are ongoing in Sebha this evening where casualties are estimated to include at least 19 dead and 45 maimed.
The head of Sebha's local council, Ayoub Al-Zaroug, compared scenes today on the ground to a war zone, describing street battles and the frequent sound of heavy artillery. He told the Libya Herald that, while the chaos of fighting made it impossible to know exact figures, reports indicated that 19 had been killed in the festivities.
Sebha Airport has been closed due to the fighting and all flights have been cancelled.
Fighting erupted in Sebha last night following the liquidation of one of the city's revolutionary commanders, Mansour Al-Aswad, by Tebu gunnies in Traghen. The killing was said to have been in Dire Revenge™ for the deaths of over 40 Tebus during festivities in Sebha nearly two years ago.
As fighting continues tonight in the city, with no end in sight, there are fears that the tribal violence seen during three days of fighting in Sebha in March 2012, which left 40 Tebus and 30 members of the Arab Awlad Sulieman tribe dead, has returned.
The security situation in Sebha has tanked in recent months, with sporadic shootouts and liquidations becoming commonplace. At the end of December, Sebha Local Council was forced to suspend work because of security concerns.

[Libya Herald] A boom-mobilewent kaboom! in the early hours of yesterday morning near the former site of the tomb of Omar Mokhtar in Benghazi.
No one was harmed in the attack but the kaboom caused extensive damage to nearby buildings and vehicles, including some owned by the Saiqa Special Forces.
Members of the Special Forces stationed nearby reported that the blast came from a bomb inside an Opal Corsa car at 5 am. The vehicle had reportedly been parked there since the previous morning.
The Special Forces bomb disposal unit yesterday successfully diffused a six kilogram bomb hidden in a bag outside the house of a member of the force Abdelsalam Mustafa Alsager.

[Libya Herald] Violence in Benghazi has continued with the probable murder of an army colonel in Al-Guarsha yesterday and the attempted liquidation of a police officer on Thursday.
Colonel Abbdel Hamid Al-Feyssi was found dead in his home on the outskirts of Benghazi in the Al-Guarsha suburb yesterday. While the shot which killed him was fired from his own gun, reports of signs of a struggle at the scene indicate that Feyssi was murdered. Investigations into the death are ongoing.
Khaled Haroon, a criminal investigator working out of Sabri Police Station, is currently recovering from an liquidation attempt in Al-Jala hospital where he is at death's door. Unidentified gunnies shot Haroon while he was driving with a friend near Sidi Abed Cemetery. His friend escaped unscathed.

[An Nahar] An gang clashed with Tunisian security forces after attacking their post on the border with Algeria, leaving one of the assailants dead, the interior ministry said on Saturday.
An 18-year-old man was killed and a customs agent was maimed in the attack that took place at the Bouchebka post overnight, said ministry front man Mohammed Ali Aroui.
The customs officer was taken to hospital in Tebessa in Algeria, Aroui said.
Aroui said "around 200 people, criminals and thieves, most of whom were armed" with hunting rifles, took part in the attack on the post and "some tried to enter Algeria".
A security official said Algerian troops killed the attacker as he tried to escape across the border.
But Aroui told Agence La Belle France Presse he could not confirm this, saying he had no more details on the young man's death.
"Security posts are targeted by troublemakers, and what happened is very dangerous, and it gives an insight into the depth of criminality in Tunisia," he said, calling on civil society groups and political groups to back the security forces.
The attack came hours after prime minister-designate Mehdi Jomaa was tasked with forming a cabinet of independents to end a crisis triggered by the killing of an opposition politician last July by suspected jihadists.

"Forces have begun deploying in the areas surrounding Dammaj," the Saada-based security official told AFP, adding some gunnies had not yet vacated their posts.
The deal stipulated the two sides would withdraw from the areas around Dammaj to be replaced by army troops who would monitor the ceasefire, said Yahya Abu Isba, head of the presidential mediation commission.
"This agreement ends the military conflict between the Huthis and the Salafists in Dammaj... and prevents a sectarian war that was looming over Yemen," he told state television ... and if you can't believe state television who can you believe?
The Huthis, named after their late leader Abdel Malek al-Huthi, are part of the Zaidi Shiite community.

's government, complaining of marginalisation.
They accuse radical Sunnis in Dammaj of turning the town centre into "a real barracks for thousands of armed foreigners", a reference to the Dar al-Hadith Koranic school, where foreigners study.
The security official said a plane was expected to evacuate "foreign students" and the leader of the Salafists in Dammaj, Yahya al-Hujuri, on Saturday.
Sources in the mediation commission told AFP that Hujuri had requested President Abdrabuh Mansur Hadi decide on a solution for the Koranic school and its foreign students, while providing protection for the town.
Dammaj has a population of about 15,000 people.

[PRIMENEWS.BD] Dhaka: Detectives in overnight raids picked up three people in connection with the arson arrack on a bus at Banglamotor area in the city that left a police potted in late last month.
The three were identified as Rabiul Islam Nayan, Jibon and Anup Chandra.
Assistant Commissioner of Information and Public Relation Department of Detective Police Shatki Kabiraj Jhulan said the three were held on Friday night and early Saturday.
On December 24, a traffic police constable was burnt to death in the arson attack by person or persons unknown on a bus near Banglamotor police box in the city.
Another police member and the driver of the bus sustained burn injuries in the arson attack.
Three coppers were inside the bus parked at the spot when unidentified miscreants on a motor bike hurled petrol bomb on the requisitioned bus and fled away at about 11:20pm, few hours after the opposition's countrywide blockade had ended.
The following day a case was filed against top BNP leaders including BNP acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir in connection with the attack.

[The Hindu] One civilian was injured in firing by Indian troops near the Line of Control (LoC) in Jandrot Sub Sector on Saturday, Pakistain military sources said.
At about 2.30 p.m., troops from the Jumma post fired at Zafar Mehmood, a resident of Red village, when he inadvertently crossed 200 metres across the LoC for cutting firewood.
Mehmood, who belongs to the Gujjar community, sustained a bullet injury in the right arm. He is being treated at the forward Army medical centre and his condition is stable, the sources said.
The incident comes after two meetings last month, one between the Directors-General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of India and Pakistain, and the other between the Pakistain Rangers and the Border Security Force (BSF) to keep the peace on the LoC. At the second meeting, it was decided to send back those who crossed the border inadvertently.

Initial police reports suggest that Bhatti was murdered for personal enmity. However, it was a brave man who first ate an oyster... details would only be revealed after the probe, they said.
According to DPO Kasur, unknown gunnies opened fire on the PTI leader's car, who was traveling with his three personal guards, near Kasur Liliani toll plaza. All four were killed on the spot, he added.
A passerby, who was injured by the sporadic firing, later succumbed to his wounds as well. Dead bodies have been moved to Jinnah Hospital Lahore for postmortem.
The police officer suggested that the killing was a result of personal enmity as he claimed that Bhatti had skirmishes with several people.
In a separate incident, Noman, son of PTI's women wing president of its Lahore chapter Neelam Ashraf, was found dead in his car earlier in the day.
Citing mysterious circumstance in which his body was found, police suggested it was a suicide. However, it was a brave man who first ate an oyster... Noman's family alleged that he was murdered.
SP Model Town Tariq Aziz said that three suspects have been taken into police custody on family's suspicion.

After receiving a homicide report, local leaders and security volunteers in Yarang district found the body of defense volunteer Muhammad-apidin Baneng with two gunshots to the head and collected two spent AKA rifle bullets as evidence.
Meanwhile, a soldier was injured by a motorcycle bomb in Narathiwat's Tak Bai district yesterday morning when terrorists insurgents triggered a bomb as a patrol truck drove past. Private Jirasak Rungsamrit, who had been sitting in the back of the truck, sustained injuries to his left leg, while the truck's windshield shattered, a rear wheel exploded and the right-hand side of the body was riddled with bomb shrapnel.
[An Nahar] Syrian troops seized a rebel-held town north of Aleppo Saturday and pushed toward part of Aleppo city, taking advantage of fighting between rebels and jihadists elsewhere, activists said.
"Regime forces have taken over the area of Naqarin and are advancing towards the industrial area of Aleppo city," said the Aleppo Media Center, a network of activists on the ground.
"This advance is clearly a result of the rebels being busy fighting Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant ... the current version of al-Qaeda in Iraq, just as blood-thirsty and well-beloved as the original... ," activist Nazeer al-Khatib told Agence La Belle France Presse in a Skype call.
The army's moves come eight days after Islamist and moderate rebels fighting to topple Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad Supressor of the Damascenes... 's regime launched a major offensive against ISIL.
On Saturday, ISIL faceless myrmidons fought pitched battles with other rebels in the northwestern town of Saraqeb and seized the frontier town of Tal Abyad on the border with Turkey after Salafist tough guys pulled out, a monitoring group said.
The Britannia-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said Salafist tough guys launched an offensive to push ISIL out of Saraqeb, the jihadists' last bastion in the western province of Idlib.
They "took over most of the town, and besieged hundreds of ISIL fighters," said Observatory director Rami Abdel Rahman.
During the day a boom-mobilewent kaboom! in Saraqeb near an Islamist rebel checkpoint, killing two Islamist commanders, the Observatory said.
ISIL faceless myrmidons also battled rebels in the northern city of Raqa, where they captured a train station and a checkpoint run by other rebels, said the Observatory.
The corpses of dozens of ISIL fighters were found in a Raqa hospital, the monitoring group said.
Meanwhile, ...back at the Senate, Odius Sepulcher called for war against the Visigoths... muezzins in Jazra, a town west of Raqa, urged residents to identify the bodies of dozens of Islamist fighters who had been abandoned on the battlefield, added the Observatory.
Although rebels initially welcomed jihadists in Syria, ISIL's horrific abuses and its quest for hegemony over opposition areas sparked a massive backlash against them.
ISIL had previously warned rebels that if they continue to fight them, they would withdraw from the frontlines in Aleppo, Syria's second city, thus allowing Assad's forces to deploy.
The Observatory also reported that "an ill-reputed rebel group raided an ISIL commander's home in Aleppo city... and kidnapped his mother and his sister, and raped his mother."
Fighting also raged on between government forces and rebels in other parts of Syria, and an regime air raid killed at least six people in central Hama province, said the Observatory.
And 12 people were killed in regime shelling of a neighborhood in the central city of Homs, the NGO said.

Fighting between an Al Qaeda-linked group and a loose alliance of more moderate and ultraconservative rebel brigades has killed nearly 500 people over the past week in northern Syria, an activist group said Friday.
The rebel-on-rebel violence that broke out a week ago has spread across four provinces in opposition-held parts of the north in what amounts to the most serious infighting among opponents of President Bashar Assad since the countrys conflict began in March 2011. The clashes pit fighters from a variety of Islamist and moderate factions against the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, an extremist group that has alienated many Syrians over the past several months by using brutal tactics to implement its strict interpretation of Islamic law.
The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said Friday that at least 482 people have been killed in the fighting. It said 240 of the dead were rebel fighters, while another 157 were from the Islamic State. The remaining 85 were civilians, the Observatory said.
The consortium of ultraconservative rebels and more moderate brigades have made headway against fighters from the Islamic State in several areas of the provinces of Aleppo, Idlib, Hama and Raqqa although the Al Qaeda-linked group has managed to regroup and curb some of its losses.
The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant and another Al Qaeda linked group known as Jabhat al-Nusra, or the Nusra Front, initially joined forces with moderate rebels fighting to oust Assad in a conflict that began as a popular uprising but morphed into a civil war.
The extremists proved well-organized and efficient fighters, giving the ragtag rebels a boost.
But the brutality of the Islamic State has turned other factions against it, leading to some of the worst infighting of the conflict.
