Barr appoints special counsel in Russia probe investigation
[WSLS] Attorney General William Barr has given extra protection to the prosecutor he appointed to investigate the origins of the Trump-Russia probe, granting him authority to complete the work without being easily fired.

Barr told The News Agency that Dare Not be Named on Tuesday that he had appointed U.S. Attorney John Durham as a special counsel in October under the same federal regulations that governed special counsel Robert Mueller in the original Russia probe. He said Durham’s investigation has been narrowing to focus more on the conduct of FBI agents who worked on the Russia investigation, known by the code name of Crossfire Hurricane.

Under the regulations, a special counsel can be fired only by the attorney general and for specific reasons such as misconduct, dereliction of duty or conflict of interest. An attorney general must document such reasons in writing.

He said Durham’s investigation has been narrowing to focus more on the conduct of FBI agents who worked on the Russia investigation, known by the code name of Crossfire Hurricane.
The FBI in July 2016 began investigating whether the Trump campaign was coordinating with Russia to sway the outcome of the presidential election. That probe was inherited nearly a year later by special counsel Mueller, who ultimately did not find enough evidence to charge Trump or any of his associates with conspiring with Russia.

The early months of the investigation, when agents obtained secret surveillance warrants targeting a former Trump campaign aide, have long been scrutinized by the president and other critics of the probe who say the FBI made significant errors. An inspector general report last year backed up that criticism but did not find evidence that mistakes in the surveillance applications and other problems with the probe were driven by partisan bias.

Barr decided "the best thing to do would be to appoint them under the same regulation that covered Bob Mueller, to provide Durham and his team some assurance that they’d be able to complete their work regardless of the outcome of the election," he said Tuesday.

President-elect Joe Foreign Policy Whiz Kid Biden
...Candidate for president in 2020. I'm not working for you. Don't be such a horse's ass....
's transition team didn't immediately comment on the appointment.

The current investigation, a criminal probe, had begun very broadly but has since "narrowed considerably" and now "really is focused on the activities of the Crossfire Hurricane investigation within the FBI," Barr said. He said he expects Durham would detail whether any additional prosecutions will be brought and make public a report of the investigation’s findings.

Durham's investigation has resulted in one prosecution so far: a guilty plea by a former FBI lawyer who admitted altering an email.

In an Oct. 19 order, obtained by The News Agency that Dare Not be Named, Barr says Durham is authorized "to investigate whether any federal official, employee or any person or entity violated the law in connection with the intelligence, counter-intelligence or law enforcement activities" directed at the 2016 presidential campaigns, anyone associated with the campaigns or the Trump administration.

Barr: No evidence of fraud that'd change election outcome
WASHINGTON (AP) — Attorney General William Barr said Tuesday the Justice Department has not uncovered evidence of widespread voter fraud that would change the outcome of the 2020 presidential election.

His comments come despite President Donald Trump's repeated claims that the election was stolen, and his refusal to concede his loss to President-Elect Joe Biden.

In an interview with The Associated Press, Barr said U.S. attorneys and FBI agents have been working to follow up specific complaints and information they’ve received, but they’ve uncovered no evidence that would change the outcome of the election.

"To date, we have not seen fraud on a scale that could have affected a different outcome in the election," Barr told the AP.

The comments are especially direct coming from Barr, who has been one of the president's most ardent allies. Before the election, he had repeatedly raised the notion that mail-in voter fraud could be especially vulnerable to fraud during the coronavirus pandemic as Americans feared going to polls and instead chose to vote by mail.

Last month, Barr issued a directive to U.S. attorneys across the country allowing them to pursue any "substantial allegations" of voting irregularities, if they existed, before the 2020 presidential election was certified, despite no evidence at that time of widespread fraud. That memorandum gave prosecutors the ability to go around longstanding Justice Department policy that normally would prohibit such overt actions before the election was certified. Soon after it was issued, the department’s top elections crime official announced he would step aside from that position because of the memo.

The Trump campaign team led by Rudy Giuliani has been alleging a widespread conspiracy by Democrats to dump millions of illegal votes into the system with no evidence. They have filed multiple lawsuits in battleground states alleging that partisan poll watchers didn’t have a clear enough view at polling sites in some locations and therefore something illegal must have happened. The claims have been repeatedly dismissed including by Republican judges who have ruled the suits lacked evidence. Local Republicans in some battleground states have followed Trump in making similar unsupported claims.

Trump has railed against the election in tweets and in interviews though his own administration has said the 2020 election was the most secure ever. Trump recently allowed his administration to begin the transition over to Biden, but has still refused to admit he lost.

The issues Trump’s campaign and its allies have pointed to are typical in every election: Problems with signatures, secrecy envelopes and postal marks on mail-in ballots, as well as the potential for a small number of ballots miscast or lost.

But they've also requested federal probes into the claims. Attorney Sidney Powell has spun fictional tales of election systems flipping votes, German servers storing U.S. voting information and election software created in Venezuela "at the direction of Hugo Chavez," — the late Venezuelan president who died in 2013. Powell has since been removed from the legal team after an interview she gave where she threatened to "blow up" Georgia with a "biblical" court filing.

Barr didn't name Powell specifically but said: "There's been one assertion that would be systemic fraud and that would be the claim that machines were programmed essentially to skew the election results. And the DHS and DOJ have looked into that, and so far, we haven’t seen anything to substantiate that," Barr said.

He said people were confusing the use of the federal criminal justice system with allegations that should be made in civil lawsuits. He said such a remedy for those complaints would be a top-down audit conducted by state or local officials, not the U.S. Justice Department.

"There’s a growing tendency to use the criminal justice system as sort of a default fix-all, and people don’t like something they want the Department of Justice to come in and ’investigate,’" Barr said.

He said first of all there must be a basis to believe there is a crime to investigate.

"Most claims of fraud are very particularized to a particular set of circumstances or actors or conduct. They are not systemic allegations and. And those have been run down; they are being run down," Barr said. "Some have been broad and potentially cover a few thousand votes. They have been followed up on."

Roger Stone Accuses Bill Barr of 'Deep State' Connection Following Voter Fraud Dismissal(Link)
[Newsweak] Donald Trump's longtime ally Roger Stone has accused Bill Barr of being a "block for the deep state," after the attorney general shot down claims Trump lost the election due to widespread voter fraud.

In a video posted to right-wing social media site Parler, Stone accused Barr of being implicated in a conspiracy theory that there is a secret layer of government featuring unofficial individuals and advisers that influence key decisions and policies.

Trump has frequently suggested the existence of a "deep state" working against him...

#12  The Justice Department is only one avenue to get this thing fixed, and the slowest. The private lawsuits filed by the Trump campaign and associated teams led by Lin Wood and Sydney Powell, among many others, are perfectly capable of taking their evidence-supported arguments to state and federal supreme courts — and will do so in a timely manner, unlike AG Barr’s people.

And after his announcement, no court will be able to argue that they should wait for DoJ’s actions on the subject.

#13  If Biden beat Obama's 2008 by 11 million votes, then there is at a minimum 11 million fraudulent votes.
Posted by: flash91 || 12/02/2020 12:27 Comments || Top||

#14  There is only one path to the Supreme Court. With the fraud, which was well done, separating ballots and envelopes, etc., there is no way to identify which votes are fraud and which ones are real. So they have to attack the totals by county.

They have to show that there are more votes than registered voters, more votes that qualified voters, the number of dead voters, the number of 100% votes for one person. For example 135% of the Maricopa county voters voted for Biden, impossible. They have to show the number of votes compared the total population over 18, etc… They will not be able to prove that the bias was for biden, they will be able to prove that fraud existed. They will then have to look at the state and see if removing the total county vote will change the outcome for the state. For example: if the determine that removing Maricopa county would flip the state of AZ then the AZ vote total is unacceptable. They will not be able to flip the state and give it to trump, they have not solid vote to count. Same would play for Nevada, Penn and the rest. The Supreme Court would then be forced to say there is no honest way to determine a winner. They would then be forced to hand it to the Congress for a vote and Trump would win.

#16  ^ I learned that by reading Rantburg.

The application of this principle here is that if fraud can be proven in an election, even if what was proven was not sufficient to affect the outcome, it must be assumed that the entire election was fraudulent and so it cannot be certified.

#17  Barr Comments 'Twisted' By AP, DoJ Says Not Done Probing Election Fraud
The Department of Justice (DOJ) issued a statement on Tuesday in response to the backlash from an article by The Associated Press which quoted Attorney General William Barr saying that “to date, we have not seen fraud on a scale that could have effected a different outcome in the election.”

“Some media outlets have incorrectly reported that the DOJ has concluded its investigation of election fraud and announced an affirmative finding of no fraud in the election. That is not what the Associated Press reported nor what the Attorney General stated,” a DOJ spokesperson said, according to CBS News reporter Catherine Herridge.

“The Department will continue to receive and vigorously pursue all specific and credible allegations of fraud as expeditiously as possible.”

The Epoch Times reached out to the DOJ to confirm the statement but did not immediately receive a response.

In its headline, The Associated Press twisted Barr’s comment to suggest that the attorney general has passed final judgment on whether fraud occurred in the 2020 election. “Disputing [President Donald] Trump, Barr says no widespread election fraud,” the wire service reported.

A far cry from what I heard CBS reporting last night about how Barr had debunked Trump's "wild claims" of fraud. That's right. They said "wild claims". #23  Theager, they did not just distort the news, they flat out lied. From the link I posted above:

A DOJ spokesperson had said that “Some media outlets have incorrectly reported that the Department has concluded its investigation of election fraud and announced an affirmative finding of no fraud in the election. That is not what the Associated Press reported nor what the Attorney General stated. The Department will continue to receive and vigorously pursue all specific and credible allegations of fraud as expeditiously as possible."

The DOJ spokesperson uses the term "incorrectly reported". That too, is being more than generous.

I heard them say last night on the CBS Evening News that Barr, one of Trumps' most loyal cabinet members, had debunked Trump's "wild claims" of fraud.

That's a lie. So, the question becomes, why do they feel the need to lie?

Democrats face accusations of fraud in House race after 28,000-vote lead on election night erased by judge and mail-in ballots
Ballot fraud, electoral and judicial corruption isn't limited to the Presidential race.
[Washington Examiner] A New York congressional race came down to a judge personally reviewing individual spoiled ballots, resulting in the Democratic incumbent erasing his nearly 30,000-vote deficit to take a 13-vote lead and declaring victory.

"In NY-22, the Democrat incumbent was trailing by almost 30K on election night," said Hot Air editor Jazz Shaw on Twitter. "The mail-in ballots got him close. Then a Democrat judge from Syracuse ruled he would personally ’review’ all of the spoiled ballots that had been rejected. Guess what happened next."

"The judge miraculously ’found’ enough ballots that he felt were okay and the incumbent now ’leads’ by 13 votes," Shaw continued.

"This process and the integrity of our election are critical to our republic. This judicial review has been fair, open, honest, and transparent, and I remain confident that voters’ voices will be heard," said Freshmen Rep. Anthony Brindisi of the results. "In January, I will be sworn in and continue to work with both parties and stand up to anyone on behalf of all of New York’s 22nd district."

Brindisi trailed Republican challenger Claudia Tenney
...the former congresswoman attempting to make a comeback...
by about 28,000 votes on election night in New York’s 22nd Congressional District but closed that gap over the next few weeks to just 100-200 votes as mail-in ballots were counted.

Despite Tenney’s slim lead, Owego County state Supreme Court Justice Scott DelConte issued an injunction to block election officials certifying the results, setting the stage for Brindisi’s 13 vote lead.
Then the worm again.
But Tenney's campaign said they were not giving up the fight.

"Brindisi's premature declaration of victory is further evidence that his team has no interest in ensuring a fair process that preserves the integrity of the election and protects the rights of voters. We will fight to ensure that all and only legal counts are counted ‐ not jump to faulty conclusions," the Tenney campaign told the New York Post.

That patience paid off Monday, when the Herkimer County Board of Elections revised its final count, netting Tenney 35 votes and putting her in the lead by 12.

With the razor-thin margin swinging back and forth, Wasserman doesn't expect the result of the race to be finalized anytime soon.

"Whiplash: now it's Claudia Tenney (R) back ahead of Rep. Anthony Brindisi (D) by 12 votes in #NY22 after Herkimer Co. revises its count," Wasserman said. "Legal fight far from over."

Biden to Nominate CNN Analyst for Secretary of State
[Free Beacon] Another media figure is joining the incoming Biden administration. The president-elect's team announced over the weekend Biden's intention to nominate CNN global-affairs analyst Antony Blinken for the role of secretary of state.

Blinken, in addition to his role at CNN, is a cofounder and managing partner of WestExec Advisors, a "strategic advisory firm that offers unique geopolitical and policy expertise to help business leaders make the best decisions in a complex and volatile international landscape." He also served as a deputy in the Obama administration from 2013 to 2017.

Starting one's own "strategic advisory firm" is one of the more conventional ways in which selfless public servants ensure they become rich enough to afford a life of selfless public service. The job of secretary of state, for example, pays a mere $210,700 a year. Multinational corporations will pay a lot more than that for strategic advice from politically well-connected media analysts.

Though the practice is typically frowned upon when Republicans do it, Democrats can often count on journalists and other liberals to defend them for simply having "participated in society" by raking in cash from corporate clients while their Democratic colleagues routinely badmouth those clients in public.

CNN’s Zucker ‘Encouraged’ Invoking 9/11 Terror To Urge Trump To Allow A Biden Transition
Follow up to this story from yesterday.
[NationalPulse] Project Veritas has released the first of its recordings from inside CNN
...formerly the Cable News Network, now who know what it might stand for...
’s editorial calls, beginning with what appears to be network President alongside news hounds discussing how another 9/11 attack could happen if Trump didn’t pre-emptively concede to Joe Foreign Policy Whiz Kid Biden
...Candidate for president in 2020. Poor kids are just as bright and just as talented as white kids....
The call begins with news hound Jamie Gangel, who describes what left-wing politicians are demanding she report about the matter of Trump leaving office. She appears to be all too happy to take her line from Democrats and anti-Trump Republicans.

But the most shocking part of the call sees field producer Stephanie Becker demanding the network discuss how another 9/11 terror attack could occur if Trump doesn’t aid the Biden transition.

Becker claims: "On the issue of why it’s important to get the transition going right, the 9/11 [Commission] Report talks about one of the problems was that the trouble that was brewing that lost during the transition.

"So if you want a good concrete example of what happens when you don’t have a good transition, well, look at the Twin Towers."

Presidential transitions are actually a relatively recent thing in American political history. Transitions of the type the country has witnessed in recent years are a product of the last decade, with more basic versions occurring only as far back as the 1960s.

The company’s President, Jeff Zucker, says back to Becker on the call: "I would encourage folks to think about that 9/11 Commission Report and the lack of a transition."

CNN PR Team Tweets Baseless Legal Threats At James O’Keefe Following Exposé Announcement
[NationalPulse] CNN
...formerly the Cable News Network, now who know what it might stand for...
’s verified public relations and communications team has tweeted a baseless and anti-journalistic legal threat at independent political news hound James O’Keefe. The move comes after O’Keefe and his Project Veritas group dialed into the CNN Editorial Call this morning, promising to publish public interest recordings of the CNN calls which the group claims to have had access to for months.

CNN’s claim — provided with no legal rationale — was shared by their often overzealous public relations team. The tweet also claimed to have referred the matter to "law enforcement" — a curious position given CNN’s repeated attacks on U.S. law enforcement over the past year.

CNN is a major corporation, owned by AT&T, which survives due to carriage fees paid by cable subscribers whether they watch CNN or not.

Maricopa County Chair Describes Trump Votes Defaulting to Biden on Dominion System, Complete Breakdown of Signature Verification,
[Red State] As reported earlier, members of the Arizona state legislature held a hearing into election integrity on Monday.

During the hearing, Maricopa County GOP Chairwoman Linda Brickman testified that she saw votes for President Donald Trump being counted as votes for Joe Biden when entered into the Dominion voting machines. She also presented her testimony in a sworn affidavit.

She said that she and her Democratic partner saw the votes shift to Biden more than once when they were trying to enter ballots that couldn’t be read by the machines.

From The Epoch Times:

"I observed, with my Democratic partner, the preparation of a new ballot, since the original one was soiled, or wouldn’t go through the tabulators. I read her a Trump Republican ballot, and as soon as she entered it into the system, the ballot defaulted on the screen to a Biden Democratic ballot," Brickman told GOP Arizona State legislators on Monday.

She remarked that when she reported the issue to election supervisors, others in the room also commented that they had "witnessed the same manipulation."

This should be easy to check if the Democratic partner is willing to be forthcoming and honest.

Brickman said she was never told about any correction being taken. Instead, she was called out by the supervisor and told she was causing problem and "bringing up things that I shouldn’t have." She was told that she couldn’t discuss or talk about what was going on. She said many people were threatened. "They were told that their voices would be suppressed, they would have to leave the room and not work there again. I’m here because I think this is our duty to speak the truth."

Brickman said she refused to approve the certification of the Dominion system with Secretary of State Katie Hobbs "because the machines had malfunctioned during the test, and were shut down and reset by Dominion staff instead of corrected."

Ossoff's ‘Voter Suppression' Complaints Shut Down by Record Turnout
[Free Beacon] Georgia's record turnout in 2020 brought a sudden end to Democratic Senate candidate Jon Ossoff's repeated complaints that voter suppression would hurt his chances.

In interview after interview during the 2020 campaign, Ossoff bemoaned voter suppression in Republican-run Georgia. Since forcing a runoff with Sen. David Perdue (R., Ga.) last week, though, he has not mentioned the subject in a series of national interviews with MSNBC, CNN, and ABC's The View, according to a review of transcripts.

About five million votes were cast in Georgia in 2020, easily breaking the former state record. Although Democrat Joe Biden appears likely to win the state over President Donald Trump, Ossoff is about 87,000 votes behind Perdue.

While he has been quiet in his interviews this week, Ossoff did tweet Wednesday that voter suppression should be a "federal crime" and requested donations to his campaign.

Ossoff's campaign did not respond to a request for comment.

Minneapolis mayor, police chief call proposal to cut department funding 'irresponsible and untenable'
[STARTRIBUNE] Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey and Police Chief Medaria Arradondo on Monday rebuffed a proposal by three City Council members to cut the Minneapolis police budget by nearly $8 million, with Frey calling the plan "irresponsible and untenable" amid a year of rising violent mostly peaceful crime and a shrinking police force.Although both said they support some community alternatives and reforms in policing, they said it cannot come at the cost of further cuts to the department already facing historic attrition rates — the force is down 120 officers since the start of the year, with more likely to depart.

"This notion that in order to have a more comprehensive public safety strategy you have to do away with one critical element, which is police, is wrong," Frey said. "We are hearing from communities right now that they are looking for a ’both-and’ approach."

"This is literally a life and death matter right now and we need to get it right," he said.

The proposal by a trio of City Council members — including President Lisa Bender, Phillipe Cunningham and Steve Fletcher — would move roughly 5% from MPD to violence prevention, a mental health crisis team and other departments that could help process reports of property damage and parking violations. The change, they said, would reduce officers’ overall workloads and allow them to focus on violent mostly peaceful crime.

The council members’ proposal would fund a department with roughly 770 officers and reduce the authorized force size to 750 in future years. That’s far lower than the 888 "target level" included in Frey’s budget proposal.

Those three council members were on the losing side of a 7-6 vote this month to spend $500,000 for other law enforcement agencies to help the Minneapolis police patrol the city. However,
some men learn by reading. A few learn by observation. The rest have to pee on the electric fence for themselves...
contracts have yet to be signed.

Frey’s budget plan includes roughly $1.5 billion in spending for 2021, about $179 million of which would go to the Police Department. His plan calls for adding three recruit classes to help offset a wave of officer departures following the death of George Floyd and subsequent riots.

Republican Garcia wins as GOP takes back 4 California House seats
[POLITICO] Rep. Mike Garcia has defeated Democratic Assemblymember Christy Smith, officially giving the GOP back four of the Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, seats it lost in 2018.Smith conceded Monday afternoon after the last vote update showed Garcia clinging to a 339-vote lead out of nearly 239,000 cast in the race. The difference amounted to one-tenth of a percentage point.

Garcia's win completed a Republican comeback in the 25th Congressional District, a Los Angeles-area seat that had remained red for years until Democrat Katie Nice Boobies! Hill
...Dem representative from California who ran as a bisexual, resigned from Congress when nude pictures of her came to light, along with information that she was being bisexual with one of her aides. Katie appears to be unacquainted with the word shame...
unseated then-Rep. Steve Knight in 2018. But Hill resigned less than a year into her term amid sexual misconduct allegations, opening a path for Garcia to reclaim the seat in a May special election matchup with Smith.

Now Garcia has defeated Smith a second time in one of the year’s closest races, two years after Hill won by a comfortable 22,000-vote margin.

EXPLOSIVE: Michigan Illegally Counted or Ignored 500K Ballots, Lawsuit Claims
[PJ Media] In the wee hours of Thanksgiving Day, the Amistad Project of the Thomas More Society filed an explosive election lawsuit asking Michigan’s Supreme Court to prevent Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson from certifying the election results until the Michigan legislature can fully investigate fraud claims and to force election officials to hand over all election materials to the legislature for this purpose. The lawsuit claims that officials illegally counted or threw out no fewer than 508,016 ballots, far more than Joe Biden’s 154,000-vote margin over Donald Trump.

"State and local officials brazenly violated election laws in order to advance a partisan political agenda," Phil Kline, director of The Amistad Project, said in a statement. "The pattern of lawlessness was so pervasive and widespread that it deprived the people of Michigan of a free and fair election, throwing the integrity of the entire process into question."

The Amistad Project is representing two female Michigan voters, Angelic Johnson and Linda Lee Tarver, who claim that election officials effectively robbed them of their votes by illegally undermining a fair election. In an interview with PJ Media, Ian Northon, an attorney representing Johnson and Tarver, explained the seven types of illegal counting the lawsuit alleges.
The short version:

Seattle To Send First-Time Non-Violent Criminals To ‘Community Panel' and Have Taxpayers Pay Their Restitution
[LegalInsurrection] “We can send that person instead (of jail) to a community accountability group, who will define what they think accountability means"

Seattle is about to try a new form of community policing which would have criminals face a non-profit community panel and in some cases, put taxpayers on the hook for restitution.

The left said they wanted to ’reimagine’ law enforcement. Consider this a preview.

Jason Rantz writes at KTTH Radio:

Seattle experiment says no jailtime for crime, but has taxpayers split bill

Under an experimental program in King County, first-time criminals will not see jail time for crimes, nor pay restitution. Instead, the suspects get a pass from any jailtime or record, with the "community" choosing the punishment. Plus, as an added bonus, county taxpayers will quite literally pay for the crimes.

It’s the latest scheme from King County Prosecutor Dan Satterberg to give a pass to criminals, while giving himself the ability to ignore his job. And even though these crimes disproportionately occur in Seattle, it’ll be the entire county that pays...

Under the "restorative justice" program, non-violent, first-time felons will face a non-profit community panel to decide how the offender will be held accountable. But Satterberg won’t define what he means by accountability.

"We can send that person instead (of jail) to a community accountability group, who will define what they think accountability means," Satterberg told KOMO TV.

It is amazing to think there are taxpayers in Seattle who would put up with this part:

Taxpayers literally pay a price

The victims of these crimes do get to recover stolen or destroyed property. We will all have to pay for it, rather than the criminal.

"Sometimes it can take years before restitution is paid to a victim and the person responsible may repeatedly come back to court when they don’t pay," Satterberg told KOMO. "The reality of the situation right now is, victims are not being taken care of. This will help us take care of their immediate needs to a cap of, say, $500."
