Afghanistan
Taliban Stage Attacks in 22 Provinces in 24 Hours: MoD
[ToloNews] The Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
staged attacks and other "violent mostly peaceful activities" in at least 22 provinces over the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Defense said on Tuesday as prospects to end to the deadly conflict in the country remain uncertain.

"The Taliban staged attacks on the security outposts and check points of the Afghan cops in 22 provinces over the past 24 hours, but the brave members of the Afghan National Security and Defense Forces repelled all the attacks and foiled their evil plans. The security forces also inflicted heavy casualties to the Death Eaters," said Rohullah Ahmadzai, a front man for the Ministry of Defense.

Referring to the Taliban violence, the acting minister of interior affairs, Massoud Andarabi, said the Taliban is losing the opportunity provided to them by the Afghan people for peace.

"These attacks that the Taliban has launched across Afghanistan indicate that the Taliban is not using the opportunity given to them by the people of Afghanistan for peace and reconciliation," said Andarabi.

Afghan politicians warned that continued violence by the warring sides will affect the ongoing Afghan peace efforts.

"Unfortunately, increased attacks are changing the people’s hopes to disappointment," said Gul Ahmad Noorzad, an MP.

But a Taliban front man has said that they have "never" made a commitment to halt the fight against the Afghan cops.

The US Special Envoy for Afghan Peace Zalmay Khalilzad in an interview with TOLOnews on March 11 said the Talban as part of the Doha peace agreement pledged to reduce violence and avoid attacks on bucolic provincial capitals.

"Attacks should not be launched on the cities---it means attacks will not happen on the center of 34 provinces," said Khalilzad at the time.

Fresh waves of violence has been reported in Kabul, Helmand
...an Afghan province populated mostly by Pashtuns, adjacent to Injun country in Pak Balochistan...
, Nimroz, Maidan Wardak, Badakhshan, Ghazni, Takhar, Kunduz, Baghlan, Faryba and Ghazni.

A Taliban front man Zabihullah Mujahid said that the Taliban’s agreement was only with the US, stating that there is a need for a separate agreement with the Afghan forces.

Meanwhile,
...back at the mall, Clarissa suddenly spied Mr. Bartlett at the checkout counter. He was buying Grecian Formula!...
US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in a presser with his Indian counterpart S. Jaishankar in New Delhi described India as Washington’s strategic ally and said that both countries are supporting peace in Afghanistan.

"The United States values India as a multilateral partner," Pompeo said, adding that the United States and India were also cooperating to make the Afghan grinding of the peace processor successful.

"Discussions also covered developments in our neighboring countries," Jaishankar said. "We made clear that cross-border terrorism is completely unacceptable."

On Tuesday evening, Khalilzad Khalilzad said in a series of tweets that he has returned to the region, "but disappointed that violence has continued despite the commitments made before."

"Afghans need to pivot to development instead of destruction, stability instead of chaos, forgiveness instead of vengeance, compromise instead of inflexibility," Khalilzad said. "Afghans are dying at a high rate, and regional spoilers are using Afghans as cannon fodder for their illegitimate objectives. Bloodshed must end."

He concluded that "Afghans need to pivot to development instead of destruction, stability instead of chaos, forgiveness instead of vengeance, compromise instead of inflexibility."

in an ongoing operation by Afghan forces, the Ministry of Defense said on Wednesday.

The operation was launched on Monday in Nad Ali and Nawa districts as well as in Lashkargah city, the center of Helmand, to retake the areas fallen to the Taliban two weeks ago, a statement by Defense Ministry read.

"More than 100 Taliban fighters were killed and maimed in the operation," the ministry said.

The statement did not provide details on casualties among security forces in the operation.

According to Defense Ministry, the Taliban staged attacks and other "violent mostly peaceful activities" in at least 22 provinces over the past 24 hours.

Referring to the Taliban violence, the acting minister of interior affairs, Massoud Andarabi, said the Taliban is losing the opportunity provided to them by the Afghan people for peace.

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
Civilians killed as Nagorno-Karabakh conflict deepens
[AlAhram] Azerbaijan and Armenia accused each other of killing civilians by shelling cities in and around Nagorno-Karabakh on Wednesday, in an escalation of a month-long conflict over the mountain enclave that has defied three ceasefires.

Azerbaijan said 21 people were killed when Armenian shells hit the town of Barda, northeast of Nagorno-Karabakh. Armenian-backed officials in Nagorno-Karabakh said Azeri shells had fallen on the enclave's two largest cities, killing one person.

Both sides denied each other's claims.

The worst fighting in the South Caucasus for nearly 30 years has raised fears of a wider war that could suck in Russia and The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor...
, an ally of Azerbaijan. It also poses a threat to pipelines carrying oil and gas from Azerbaijan to world markets.

The International Committee of the Red Thingy said it had witnessed shelling in urban areas on both sides of the front line. It said a volunteer from the Azerbaijan Red Islamic Thingy Society had been killed and two others injured in the shelling.

"These latest exchanges signal that the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict risks spiralling out of control," Martin Schuepp, the ICRC's Eurasia regional director, said in a statement. "Civilian lives are being lost at an alarming rate."

Nagorno-Karabakh is internationally recognised as part of Azerbaijan but is populated and controlled by ethnic Armenians. About 30,000 people were killed in a 1991-94 war in the region.

The prosecutor general of Azerbaijan's office said 21 people had been killed and 70 maimed in Barda.

Aisel Huseynova, a 35-year-old housewife who lives in the town, said she heard two explosions while out shopping with her son. The second blast swept her off her feet.

"When I regained consciousness, I was already in the ambulance," she said by telephone from a hospital bed. "I have a wound in the leg and arm. My son was not with me. I don't know where he is."

The Emergency and Rescue Service of ethnic Armenian-controlled Nagorno-Karabakh said shells had fallen on Stepanakert, the enclave's largest city. It said a civilian had been killed and two maimed by shelling in another city, Shushi, 15 km (nine miles) to the south.

Armenia's defence ministry also said a maternity hospital in Stepanakert had been hit. There were no reports of casualties.

Angela Frangyan, a documentary film maker currently in Stepanakert, said she heard "at least two strong bombardments".

"When I approached the hospital, I saw shattered windows and damaged ceilings at the maternity hospital, and a doctor crying," she told Rooters by telephone.

BROKEN CEASEFIRES
Armenia's defence ministry also confirmed on Wednesday that Azerbaijan had seized the strategic town of Gubadli between the enclave and the Iranian border, an apparent military gain that could make a diplomatic solution more difficult.

Azerbaijan rejects any solution that would leave Armenians in control of the enclave, which it considers to be illegally occupied. Armenia regards the territory as part of its historic homeland and says the population there needs its protection.

The Nagorno-Karabakh defence ministry has recorded 1,068 military deaths since fighting erupted on Sept. 27. Azerbaijan has not disclosed its military casualties. Russia has estimated as many as 5,000 deaths in total.

The latest of three ceasefires was brokered in Washington on Sunday. U.S. President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
called the renewed fighting "disappointing" and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo urged both sides to pursue a diplomatic solution.

The OSCE Minsk Group, formed to mediate the conflict and led by La Belle France, Russia and the United States, was due to meet the Azeri and Armenian foreign ministers in Geneva on Thursday but this has not been confirmed. Turkey has demanded a bigger role in the group.

Another Beheading in France! UPDATE: Multiple Attacks and Attempts Across France
[Twitter]

Update from Bright Pebble’s Sun link at 11:30 a.m. ET — added to the article to make it searchable later:
Three people were killed in a bloody rampage which saw a suspected terrorist storm the Basilica of Notre-Dame in Nice, south of France. Armed cops stormed Notre Dame - the largest Roman Catholic church in Nice - and shot the suspected terrorist, wounding him at around 9am local time.

And then police confirmed a man shouting "Allahu Akbar" while brandishing a knife was shot dead 160 miles away in Avignon.

Meanwhile, a security guard at the French Consulate in Jeddah was stabbed and left with minor injuries.

Le Parisien also reported a knifeman was caught near a church in Paris after telling his family he wanted to copy the attack in Nice.

And a another man - who was described as known to French intelligence services - was arrested while he was about to board a tram armed with a 12inch knife.

President Emmanuel Macron said: "France is under attack."

He denounced the Nice bloodbath as an "Islamic terror attack" and defiantly said the nation would not "give up on our values".

The president announced up to 7,000 soldiers will be deployed to the streets across France in the wake of the violence to protect landmarks, schools and places of worships.

France has now raised its alert status to the highest possible level of "terror attack emergency".

Police sources said the Nice suspect gave his name as Brahim A and his age as 25, while Nice-Matin reports he is from Tunisia and not known to authorities. It was claimed the man recently arrived in France after travelling from Lampedusa, an Italian island known as a landing point for migrants from Tunisia.

One of the victims of the Nice attack - a woman, reportedly aged 70 - was said to have been decapitated inside the church. It was widely reported in French media she was beheaded, and the city's mayor also confirmed the nature of the injuries, as well as police sources speaking to Reuters.

The male victim who was stabbed to death is said to be the church's 45-year-old sacristan, an officer charged with taking care of the church.

The third victim - a also woman, said to be in her 30s - reportedly managed to escape and took refuge in a nearby bar where she succumbed to her injuries, reports BFMTV.

Nice mayor Christian Estrosi said the attacker kept shouting "Allahu Akbar" even after he had been shot - and said it had all the hallmarks of a "terror attack".

He said: "Enough is enough. It's time now for France to exonerate itself from the laws of peace in order to definitively wipe out Islamo-fascism from our territory."

And the attacks have happened as Muslims celebrate the holy day Mawlid, which marks the birth of Mohammed.

Another witness told Nice-Matin: "I saw a guy come out like crazy from the church, running.

"Within thirty seconds, between four and six city policemen chased."

A representative of the French Council for the Muslim Faith strongly condemned the attack. In a statement, they said: "As a sign of mourning and solidarity with the victims and their loved ones, I call on all Muslims in France to cancel all the celebrations of the holiday of Mawlid."

France has launched a crackdown on radical Islam, announcing it has searched more than 120 homes and closed down a mosque in Pantin.
...following the beheading of Samuel Paty.
Update from the Daily Mail at 4:20 — key points only, taken from a more detailed comment:
  • Tunisian migrant Brahim Aoussaoui, 21

  • He beheaded both the female parishioner, 70, and male church warden Christian Loques, 45, then fatally stabbed a woman of African origin in her 30s.

  • The man arrested with a knife near a church in Sartrouville after his father reported he was about to carry out a Nice-style attack

  • The knifeman arrested trying to board a tram is an Afghan man in his 20s; the incident took place in Lyon

  • The Avignon gunman shot dead by police belonged to the anti-Islam Identarian Movement, and he was making a Nazi salute as he waved around a gun in nearby Montfavet

  • Aoussaoui is thought to have arrived in France via Italy, after being smuggled across the Mediterranean, having snuck into Lampedusa on September 20, then Italy on October 9 before being released by the authorities

#14  Islam is a "temperature dependent” ideology. What ? That’s crazy..... No, it is as It comprises a set of human logic created because its originators were NOT exposed to winter (long predictable periods of time when growing food is basically impossible) and in addition it began in one of the few places on earth without any top-soil, no rivers or streams, no forests, no grasslands and which has for centuries sustained an absence of rainfall (not decades of drought but over a 1000 years of drought) Secondly, this ideology was kept in check by its inherently illogical approach to economic productivity. Humans moving from a Nomadic culture to an Agrarian one is structurally different in its logic and values. Nomadic culture has no understanding nor appreciation of the link between human effort exerted and the wealth and food it creates. Food it taken, sex is taken, objects are not made but taken from other humans. Nomadic culture understand that food/wealth/objects of value/ even procreation as things that simply exist, than other have and one has to take them to acquire them. Stealing, theft, the use of force (even towards women/spouse) in order to obtain thus justified and seen as logically valid ways to not just improve oneself but just to stay alive. Agricultural development is totally different. Land / food /spouse requires indivuals effort to obtain. The connection between ones effort and ones wealth thus becomes undeniable. It requires staying in one place (think stability, villages & inheritance), which necessitates ownership of property (land, crops, water rights, laws, and predictable relationships (written agreements, laws rather than temporal edicts.) All this require all parties to honor others’ predicaments, property, opinions and ideas. Technology really exploded when Agraian culture came into being. Think of coexistence, an appreciation of "mine not yours" and having real consequences for stealing. Most importantly all agricultural societies that have left behind their nomadic tendencies have an extended period of time where growth of food is not possible. This time period which we call "winter" is predictable. We KNOW it’s coming. The key difference between Islam which is an ideology stuck in its Nomadic upbringing and the cultural logic of today's Agricultural / Industrial / Information age cultures is that winter teaches humans to be AWARE of time. A predictable period in which one HAS no ability to get more food. When humans were essentially ALL substance beings winter meant that if you ate all your food without planning ahead, your chances of getting through the winter to procreate next spring was zero. The filtering process of death meant those that were aware procreated and grew in number. Winter inculcates a real sense of self control over one's baser and immediate desires. Thus a lack of real appreciation of time is what sets nomadic culture from all that comes after it. An awareness of time then creates an ability to plan ahead. People become independent thinkers, not simply followers, the exact opposite of what is meant by "Umma". These traits are not totally absent from Islam, but they are sufficiently absent that one can easily still see its undergirding today. The inability to win wars (takes strategic planning not just the luck of having hordes of sword swinging men rushing towards the enemy) That the '67 war for example. The lack of books printed in Islamic lands. The continued emphasis on memorization and not a true understand of what one is reading. The inability to debate well on TV about their beliefs. The enormous lack of Nobel prizes amongst Islamic people as a percentage of their world population. The recent (historically speaking) past has allowed a sudden oil wealth to paint over these intellectual and cultural gaps. A facade was been carefully nurtured these past decades. That 60+ year flow of petro-dollars allowed for both their ideology and the West's weak understanding of Islam to be placed aside. Today most people just have a Media’s carefully derived perspective of Islam. Just look most people’s views of Dubai and Abu Dhabi, Riyadh & Doha. These city(States) are physically and visually impressive, but lack long term economic stability or growth potential. Riyadh's not particularly impressive at all, its spread far an wide, totally bleak..... Fracking is what has taken the huge bite out of this capital flow into Islam. Fracking is just an application of a technology (the ability to create extreme high water pressure on a mobile platform and be able to move it from one wellsite to the next over the formation) This has unleashed oil reserves which were well known to Geologists to exist as far back as the 1950's but which were deemed impractical to extract due to the lack of any known technology that was economical. This technology genie is now out of the bottle and will never be returned. The pressure to stop fracking is NOT due to any real environmental or physical problems. The current push to stop fracking (todays US election topics) is done by parties who wish to return to having huge capital flows back to the Middle East because those huge funds are easy to identify and skim off percentages for corrupt politicians or bureaucrats. Its hard to skim funds from hundreds of small fracking companies located all over the world. Just remember.... Islam is an ideology that was created by a culture that was nomadic. That means it has no sense of time and or appreciation for self control. Hence the use of force and violence is often the go to method to get what one wants. The recent two knifings in France. It isn't productive effort that yield satisfaction for the follower but the taking and subjugation of others who are productive, or want stopped or have things they desire. Violence is preferred rather than reasoning. I’ve said enough…… Bye.

Here's the idea that caused lots of analysts in 3 letter orgs to stop pontificating and simply think. Question is: If Islam has such a huge following for over 1000 years.....(this is not disputed)....then why is it always located in areas close to the equator? It doesn't have a history in location s closers to both Poles. Western (Judaic / Christian) culture is located in all sorts of climates, all sorts of geographical locations. Russian Jews, Christian in jungles, Australian deserts, islands, tundras, grassland, Swiss mountain sides. But Islam hugs the equator AND lands with very poor agriculture. Why. From there on its all unfolded.... Cheers. (Oh and your Thugburg reference list came in handy fairly often......)

I think I once commented some time ago under the name DhaRtAbqUdh or something like that..... Back when Abqaiq was first attacked, not its second time.....

#18  And the attacks have happened as Muslims celebrate the holy day Mawlid, which marks the birth of Mohammed.

As with the left's abortion enthusiasm, murder is a sacrament for Muslims.

He said: "Enough is enough. It's time now for France to exonerate itself from the laws of peace in order to definitively wipe out Islamo-fascism from our territory."

    There's the problem right there.

    It's not "Islamofascism".

    It's just Islam.

Stop trying to create meaningless qualifiers and distinctions.

When are the men of France going to stand up and start killing these sub humans.

When they can be certain they won't arrested or killed by the authorities for doing so, while their families lives are ruined.

When will the women of the West stop giving majorities to the scum that enable this trash?

#21  Ospas Dhahran 49, welcome aboard.

Harsh environment populations were originally peoples whose ancestors were outlaws and had no where else to flee to and their persecutors decided allowing them to live in hell (desert sands and the occasional oasis and adjacent seaside) was sufficient punishment. What they did not expect was the renegades adapted enough to venture from hell periodically to raid, pillage and subject. Population growth caused migration but not a change in immoral habits and traditions as they moved into civilization. But sometimes civilization experiences down times thus some nations leaders do the same things as those who live in harsh climates (i.e. Hitler during the depression).

#24  To Ebbo: I see your point, but I would say that the violent prone people were not outcast to the harsh environment, but rather they always were in the harsh places. The sterile environment pays a large part in creating the violent culture. What I think happened over time is that this population was inherently very small throughout the past 1000 years. The few that migrated away over centuries were very small in number as these harsh nomadic people (Bedu) could only maintain their numbers steady via by having females have an 8 or more fertility rate. Even consanguinity was enormously high. Google (Aramco medical studies on consanguinity. Lots of Locums in the 1950's to the Dharan hospital) Having 6 to 8 children without any dairy procuts to replace the calcium loss for women giving som many births meant that female and infant mortality rate were astronomical up until post WW2. Islam population in the Peninsular was very low, child mortality rates high and so the tradition of having 4 wives to ensure offspring make sense from just a survival perspective. Today its totally reversed. Saudi has one of the highest FALLING birth rates. From 8 per fertile female down to 3 within 4 decades.

#25  To Chesney: But all religions didn't start in the same location. Islam started far away down in Saudi. 1000 years ago the distance from Mecca / Medina to Jerusalem was like going to the moon. To look at distances with today's ability to cover it within hours is a huge mistake. Try walking on foot from these two cities today.. Even that's unthinkable. Budaism, , Hinduism, etc didn't alll originate in the Levant. The only two that had location in common was Chritianity and Judaism but even those two arose centuries apart. Culture place a greater role in determining how religion adapts and reacts to changes in technology. Today we are witnessing a harsh unforgiving "ideology" called Islam trying to adapt to the whirlwind of change it is experiencing. These attacks are the result of the inability for it to inculcate change. Its Achilles heel is its inability to adapt to rapid change, Hence it lashes out at all change regardless of wether it makes sense or not. One cannot reason with an illogically reasoned position. It falls on deaf ears. Please don't take offense in my rebuttal. I'm simply stating how see things. Regards.

#34  Tunisian migrant, named locally as 21-year-old Brahim Aoussaoui, beheaded an elderly parishioner and a male church warden, named as 45-year-old Christian Loques, before fatally stabbing a third woman described as of African origin and aged in her 30s.

Elsewhere a security guard was stabbed and wounded outside the French consulate in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, while two other men were arrested - one while carrying a knife near a church in Sartrouville after his father reported he was about to carry out a Nice-style attack, and another who tried to board a train in Lyon carrying a long blade.

It was thought that police had foiled another Islamist attack in the town of Avignon when an armed man was shot dead by officers after refusing to drop his weapon. However, it later transpired the man was part of the far-Right, anti-Islam Identarian Movement, and had made a Nazi Salute. French media initially reported the man shouted 'Allahu Akbar', which turned out to be incorrect.

Aoussaoui is thought to have arrived in France via Italy, after being smuggled across the Mediterranean. According to Italian newspaper Ill Messaggero, he arrived on the island of Lampedusa on September 20 before being transferred to coronavirus quarantine.

He was then taken to a migrant centre on the Italian mainland on October 9, before being told to leave Italian territory and released. From there, he made his way to France. It is not clear precisely when he arrived.

Italian security services are now investigating why Aoussaoui was freed rather than detained awaiting deportation.

Meanwhile Eric Ciotti, a local councillor, tweeted: 'I have just asked President Macron to suspend all migratory flows and all asylum procedures, particularly at the Italian border. We must protect the French!'

In Sartrouville, north of Paris, a man was arrested around 1pm after his father called police and said his son had left home and planned 'to do as in Nice.'

Police stopped the man in his car near a local church, and Le Parisien reports that he was in possession of a knife. The car was searched, but nothing else was found.

Meanwhile in Lyon, an Afghan man in his 20s was arrested while trying to board a tram carrying a long knife. The man was known to French intelligence services.

In Avignon, a man armed with a handgun began threatening people in the Montfavet around 11.15am while shouting Allahu Akbar, France1 reported. Police rushed to the scene and confronted the man, who refused to drop his weapon. Police then shot the man with a Taser, which failed to stop him, so they opened fire with live ammunition, killing him.

French anti-terror investigators have announced they are leading the probe into the attack in Nice, but have not yet taken up the investigation in Avignon.

I’ll append the key points to 3dc’s article for future searchability, A pity that Identitarian gunslinger in Avignon got himself killed, but kudos to the Sartrouville father who reported his son to the police in time.

#5  You know, I'm developing a pet theory right now that maybe some of you can comment on. Probably it's not uniquely *my* theory; somebody has probably spelled it out before. But bear with me.

    [BEGIN RANT]

Intersectionality and "wokeness" are really all about white, middle-and-upper-class straight women. (They may play at being queer when it suits them, but don't generally stick with in the long term. Trust me. I've got plenty of friends who are dykes, and their woes are familiar woes to me.) Let's call them all collectively "Karen" for arguments sake. Black people, Hispanics, gays, and everyone else drawn in are bystanders, cannon fodder, and eventually will be the victims of the whole thing.

Why you may ask? Well, it's no coincidence that specifically white, straight men are the official villains of this worldview (let's call him Chad), when really it should more logically just be men in general, straight or otherwise. In fact, it's bigoted that it isn't. For example, anyone who has studied Latin American history knows that Hispanic men are no pikers when it comes to colonialism and oppression. Black men in Africa built some impressive, literate empires complete will all of the bad things which come along with empires. Timbuktu was a happening place in the 14th Century. Great Zimbabwe had a nice, big palace for its king with defensible stone walls. One very openly gay Ernst Julius Günther Röhm led the SA; and quite effectively by all accounts.

    You get the picture.

But Karen doesn't care (or know) about any of that - and she doesn't care much about oppression, either. What she cares about is first that the 1950's ended: the golden age for a lot of middle to upper class white woman. A great time to hang around the house, smoke, drink, read magazines, be sexy, and become an apex consumer.

Karen liked that - and consumer markets liked her too. So much that it started to whisper promises in her ear. You can have it all! You can have a family, a husband, a full-time job, an education (another product), a big house, and look youthful your whole life! You're a superhero who can do anything! Now buy our crap, Karen! Consume baby!

But of course only one out of a hundred Karens can actually pull all of that stuff off. Not because Karen is inferior. But because we all are! Life is about sacrifices, compromises, and dreams that never happen. It's about failing a lot of the time - no matter who you are. In fact, it doesn't matter who you are at all.

But Karen doesn't want to hear that. She needs a villain: someone to blame for the fact she's just a human whose life is going to be hard and have its moments of suck, just like every other human's. And guess you didn't make her dreams come true? That's right, Chad my boy: it's you. Which brings me to Karen's second issue: Chad isn't marrying Karen as often anymore. He may sleep with her. He may be her "baby daddy." But he's not sticking around because... well, KAREN. Why marry Karen when, if you really want to get married, you can give a ring to Alejandra or Ling instead and not be subjected to Karen-ness your whole life?

So that's our Karen: See Pictures Above. I know her well. Look upon her works and weep, Chad.

[THEBAGHDADPOST] A notorious Death Eater of the ISIS was caught in an ambush by the Iraqi security forces in Diyala province and killed.

Intelligence obtained by the security forces indicated that al-Kurdi was traveling to Mandali on a cycle of violence, Mohammed explained. "He was kept under watch and killed as soon as he entered the region."
