Georgia K9 police discover $172,000 worth of fentanyl tablets during routine search at package delivery hub
[FoxNews] Georgia police said similar searches have turned up methamphetamine and marijuana, but this was the first time they found fentanyl

Authorities in Georgia discovered nearly 600 grams of fentanyl worth $172,000 on Thursday.

The Hall County Sheriff’s Office says the concealed package was discovered during a routine check for narcotics by the K9 unit at a Gainesville package delivery hub.

"The K9 was taking part in an open-air search of packages arriving at the delivery hub when he alerted on a package from California being shipped to Oakwood." The Hall County Sheriff's Office said in a post.

Inside the package were 575 grams of fentanyl in tablet form, deputies say, worth about $172,500.

At this time, police have not identified the sender or the recipient of the package.

No arrests have been made.

In the past, deputies say they have pinpointed methamphetamine and marijuana attempting to be shipped from delivery businesses within the county, however, this is the first packaged that has been found containing fentanyl.

I have mixed feelings about this.
YES! I am overjoyed they found the Illegal Drugs and use the same process to stop explosives from getting on to Airplanes and / or for stopping other harmful actions.

But conducting massive blanket, at will, Warrantless Searches or Searches without Probable Cause bothers me. Knowing, how a Government toe in the door increases to wider adapted use over time.

Hell, We are already seeing Gov. SWAT Team raiding houses because a person knew a person, that knew a person and supports MAGA.

#2  They need a warrant to open first class mail (if they want any admissible evidence). That which is classified as commercial/bulk does not derive the same protection.

#3  Still is warrantless search, the item will have a FROM Address and To address. While likely FAKE Sender and Vacant house delivery.

The Gov. having got this approved can and will likely start testing the deeper waters.

Like I said, congrats on the Bust, but I worry about the creeping use it likely will have under the LSD's.

Eg. We already know the Fed's have been scanning Mae-West and Mae-East I-Traffic and etc. for about 18+ years for keywords.

We know the Internet never forgets.

Afghanistan
Daily Evacuation Brief October 9, 2022
[AfghanDigest] LAST 24 HOURS
  • BUS BOMBED IN KABUL – Early Saturday morning, a blast targeted a bus in West Kabul (Dewan Begi neighborhood) and several people were injured. The device was hidden in a flowerpot near a bus stop. No group has claimed responsibility and no other details are known about the incident.

  • BAMYAN HOME SEARCHES RESTRICTED – Governor Mawlawi Abdullah Sarhadi in Bamyan issued an edict that no houses will be searched without a ‘security permission letter’ in the Province, effective immediately. Afghanistan observers believe similar edicts will be issued in other Provinces. However, Provinces, where Resistance forces are operating, are not expected to enforce such measures. The searches of homes by Taliban security forces have been a constant point of contention between even pro-Taliban citizens and the regime. Whether the Taliban security forces will follow the Governor’s proclamation remains to be seen.

  • GLOBAL PROTEST STAGED – Online organizers of the ‘Stop Hazara Genocide’ campaign has coordinated protests in 91 cities around the world starting today (8 October) and concluding on Sunday. The World Council of Hazaras has sanctioned the events and expressed their hope they would bring attention to the issues facing Hazara communities in Afghanistan.

  • EDUCATION LEADER ARRESTED – The Taliban were witnessed taking Qambar Salari, the head of the Jangan education center in Daikundi, into custody. Salari has been a vocal proponent of women’s rights. According to a source in the Ministry of the Interior, Salari had been accused of promoting participation in an online social media campaign (Stop Hazara Genocide). His whereabouts and disposition are currently unknown.

CONFLICT TRACKER:
Khost: A NRF strike force attacked the Taliban base at the Garez area of the province. A total of 7 casualties were confirmed but the number of those killed was undetermined. Taliban air units were used to transport the wounded.

NEXT 24 HOURS
INCREASED SOCIAL MEDIA MONITORING – As news of globally coordinated protests against terrorism and oppression made its way into the Palace in Kabul, the Ministry of the Interior called in the two special cells created to monitor social media. They hope to single out dissidents and potential troublemakers within Afghanistan and in surrounding countries. The units will be active over the coming week and will likely be conducting online surveillance of posts tied to the protests. At-risk Afghans are encouraged to maintain a low profile on their social media feeds to avoid unnecessary attention and possible arrest throughout the coming week.

Africa North
Tunisia coastguard struggles to rein in migrant boats
[AlAhram] As dawn breaks over the Mediterranean, Tunisian coastguards intercept a flimsy craft packed with migrants colonists, bringing their dream of reaching Europa
...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
to an end -- for now.

"This is your final warning: stop!" an officer shouts.

Some two dozen migrants colonists, wearing inflated inner tubes as makeshift life preservers, look downcast as they realise the game is up.

But Fatim, an 18-year-old from the Ivory Coast who spent a year working as a cleaner in Tunis to raise 1,250 euros in smugglers' fees, says she will try again.

She sobs as she clambers from the rusty home-made vessel onto the coastguards' modest speedboat.

"I don't want to stay in Tunisia," she says. "Life here is hard."

The North African country, just 130 kilometres (80 miles) from Italia's Lampedusa island, has long been a launchpad for people fleeing violence and poverty across the continent and seeking refuge in Europe.

In May last year Tunis signed a deal with Rome, which agreed to supply economic aid in exchange for Tunisian efforts to stem clandestine migration.

But while the Tunisian authorities intercept thousands of migrants colonists a year, most are released once they are back on Tunisian soil, where few want to stay.

"If I found another boat I'd leave again straight away -- I'll never give up," said Guinean migrant Ali, 20, after he was released at Sfax port.

In just one night early this week, the coastguard intercepted 130 African migrants colonists, including children and babies, on four craft attempting the crossing from the central region of Sfax.

Idia Sow, a 26-year-old Guinean suffering the after-effects of a stroke, said she had paid smugglers 1,560 euros for places for herself and her three-month-old baby on an inflatable boat headed for Lampedusa.

- RECORDED AND RELEASED -
The migrants colonists are taken back to the port in the lovely provincial capital of the same name, their details are recorded -- and then they are released.

Officials say the coastguard lacks the resources to halt the flow.

"We're in a vicious cycle. We make enormous efforts to stop these migrants colonists, but in the end they're released and then we find them trying again," said the patrol's commander, Colonel Major Brahim Fahmi.

Hours earlier, AFP journalists saw coppers brandishing batons and pistols clear more than 100 migrants colonists from an area of scrubland 30 kilometres (18 miles) along the coast from Sfax.

Some said they had been waiting two weeks for boats.

"This summer we hit a record of more than 17,000 migrants colonists (intercepted off Sfax), almost double the figure in recent years," said coastguard official Saber Younsi.

"This our role," he said. "We have to keep doing it, but there's been a worrying evolution."

The demand has created one of the few thriving new industries in Tunisia: clandestine boat manufacture.

Younsi said new smuggling networks were emerging to cash in on the surging market, with demand also coming from Tunisians who have given up hope of finding decent jobs and in some cases are emigrating as entire families.

As he spoke at Sfax port, Younsi was surrounded by piles of hundreds of captured migrant boats.

According to official figures, more than 22,500 migrants colonists have been intercepted off the Tunisian coast since the start of the year, around half of them from sub-Saharan Africa.

Some 536 people, mostly Tunisians, have been arrested on suspicion of people smuggling.

Younsi said the authorities were struggling with limited means.

"If the same trend continues, we'll hit a point where this phenomenon gets out of control," he said.
