Kentucky CBP intercept 'lethal' fentanyl shipment from South Africa labeled as ‘water purification'
[FoxNews] Package arriving in Louisville, Kentucky contained 220,700 lethal doses of fentanyl, officials say.

The package arrived in Louisville on Sept. 21 and contained enough "lethal doses" of fentanyl to kill 220,700 people, CBP said.

Officers found a bottle labeled "Hydrozone ph-Balance" containing a white powder that tested positive for fentanyl. A small zip lock bag labeled "Bicarbonate minerals" also contained a white powder that tested positive for the deadly narcotic.

The total amount of fentanyl seized was 441 grams. The agency said the estimated street value was $58,000.

Another zip lock bag labeled as "Magnesium mix" was also found inside the shipment. It contained 32.8 grams of a white crystal substance that tested positive for cocaine.

The shipment was destined for a residence in Littleton, Colorado, the agency said.

Since September 1, the agency said officers in Louisville have seized 17 pounds of cocaine, 20 pounds of fentanyl, 83 pounds of steroids, 119 pounds of ketamine, 123 pounds of heroin, 141 pounds of methamphetamine and 251 pounds of marijuana.

The total street value of these drugs was estimated to be over $4.6 million.

#7  Few now refer to COVID as a product of 'wet market' bushmeat. Perhaps we should likewise discontinue referring to fentanyl as a "narcotic."

Just a random thought.

Wiki - Project Coast was a 1980s top-secret chemical and biological weapons (CBW) program instituted by the apartheid-era government of South Africa. Project Coast was the successor to a limited postwar CBW program, which mainly produced the lethal agents CX powder and mustard gas; as well as non-lethal tear gas for riot control purposes.[1] The program was headed by Wouter Basson, a cardiologist.

#13  This is straight up chemical warfare, and requires an overwhelming response. If the point of origin, as I suspect, is the Mexican Cartels, with ingredients supplied by the Chinese, kinetic action directly to the Mexican manufacturing locations is required. A couple of doses and the manufacture will stop. If the production comes from a new source in South Africa, ditto. This is happening because the perps see America as a collapsing empire in terminal decline with corrupted/inept political leadership at the federal level. Would they dare do this if Reagan or even Trump were in office?

Afghanistan
Daily Evacuation Brief September 29, 2022
[AfghanDigest] LAST 24 HOURS
  • 40 Arrested for Resisting Land Redistribution – Local eyewitnesses and family members have reported that approximately 40 local leaders were arrested by the Taliban in the Khadir district of Daikundi over their resistance to the controversial land appropriation program. The Taliban did not intervene in the violent clashes between the Kochi nomads and local Daikundi leaders earlier in September, but they appear poised to crack down now. Tensions continue to rise with authorities as Hazara locals are forced out of their homes to make room for Pashtun Kochi nomads.

  • Taliban Claim Pakistan Made Millions Off US Drone Strike – Taliban’s Deputy Foreign Minister Mohammad Abbas Stanekzai made statements to the press claiming that Pakistan was paid millions in exchange for letting the US use its airspace to conduct drone strikes on Afghanistan. Stanekzai claimed the Taliban had abundant video evidence to support the claims, but the evidence has not been released. Stanekzai’s claims follow closely on the heels of similar accusations made by the Taliban’s Acting Minister of Defense. Pakistan denies the claims, calling them “conjectural”.

  • More Taliban Defections in Badakhshan – Additional reports continue to stream in from the North claiming that Taliban commanders in the province continue to defect from the Taliban, often along with their men. While Resistance sources claim that the deserters are joining the Resistance, it seems that many are not currently allied with either side and may be weighing their options. A source in Kandahar said that Taliban leadership has empowered the new governor of Badakhshan and other high-ranking officials to offer significant financial incentives for them to remain under Taliban control, given that bribes from the Resistance have been a big draw for defecting commanders. It is not clear how many units have broken ties with the Taliban, and the situation bears continued monitoring. More troop movements from Panjshir to Badakhshan have been reported over the last twenty-four hours, which may lend some credence to these claims.

  • Pakistan Clarifies PM’s Remarks – Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s recent remarks at the United Nations General Assembly drew immediate criticism from the Taliban and political leaders of the former regime given his focus on terrorist groups in Afghanistan while neglecting to discuss terrorism in Pakistan. The Pakistani Charge d’Affaires at the embassy in Kabul cautioned Afghans not to take offense over the remarks, reiterating that most regional countries and a good portion of the international community share similar concerns about the threat of terrorism emanating from a Taliban-controlled Afghanistan.

CONFLICT TRACKER
Kabul: Multiple reports of light and heavy weapons firing near the Red Bridge area.
Takhar: Fighting between Taliban and Resistance forces continued in Takhar. A clash in an undisclosed location is said to have resulted in 5 Talibs killed and 3 maimed. A second unconfirmed report claims the Taliban executed 4 non-combatants after the clash for reputed links to the NRF. No information on Resistance casualties.

NEXT 24 HOURS
Land Reform Struggles—The situation in Daikundi remains perilous as more arrests are expected in other districts over the clashes between Kochi nomads and local inhabitants. Since the land redistribution program began, local civilians have seemingly put aside their differences and staged large protests collectively. The Taliban were hesitant to intervene previously and did little to stop the violence between the groups that manifested in early and mid-September. However, this new policy could result in an increase in violence and could easily provoke attacks against the Taliban.

US military admits to killing 12 civilians worldwide in 2021
[ShabelleMedia] THE US MILITARY killed 12 civilians in 2021, all in Afghanistan, according to a Pentagon report released Tuesday.

The Department of Defense "assesses that there were approximately 12 civilians killed and approximately five civilians injured during 2021 as a result of US military operations," said the report, which Congress has required to be produced annually since 2018, and part of which is classified.

All of the civilian deaths occurred in Afghanistan, according to the public part of the report.

The Pentagon has already acknowledged its responsibility for the deaths of 10 members of the same family, including seven children, during the chaotic US withdrawal from Afghanistan at the end of August 2021.

The public document specifies that a civilian was killed in a US strike on 8 January in Herat
...a venerable old Persian-speaking city in western Afghanistan, populated mostly by Tadjiks, which is why it's not as blood-soaked as areas controlled by Pashtuns...
, and another on 11 August in Kandahar. Two civilians were also maimed on 18 January in Kandahar.

In addition, the US military admitted having maimed three civilians on 1 January in a strike in Qunyo Barrow, Somalia.

The Pentagon also reassessed its counts from the years 2018 to 2020, recognizing 10 more dead and 18 maimed, all in Syria.

NGOs regularly publish much higher assessments of deaths and injuries from US strikes in conflict zones.

The organization Airwars, which lists the civilian victims of air strikes around the world, estimated in its annual report published in May that between 15 and 27 civilians had been killed in US operations in Syria alone.

In January 2022, US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin urged the military to do more to avoid civilian casualties in Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
s, after several deadly blunders that tarnished the reputation of the military.

Protecting civilians is a "strategic and moral imperative," Austin noted in a memo to the military chain of command.

The important and difference between the US Military and actively aggressive militaries, is we do care and the US Military will go the extra effort trying to avoid it.

Otherwise, the 9-11 leaders, like OBL, would have been taken out years quicker.

#2  $1.5 trillion (7% of GDP) seems sketchy. That would mean 25% of medical dollar is for treating fentanyl abuse.

That said. The way to stop drug smuggling is to spread the pain. Intercept a package? Close down the Mexican border to all trade for 30 days. Same for Chinese imports. Make their governments and businesses incur unsustainable losses and the cartels and Chinese fentanyl factories will be shut down in less time than you become hungry again after a Chinese buffet. Of course that would inconvenience our ruling class from profiting from cheap foreign labor, so a no go.

Three rockets hit Baghdad's ultra-secure GreenZone as tension simmers outside its walls.

Rudaw adds:
[Rudaw] At least seven members of the security forces were maimed as three rockets landed in Baghdad’s fortified Green Zone on Wednesday.

Iraqi security media cell reported that three rockets landed in Baghdad’s green zone.

"The first landed in front of the Iraqi parliament building," the cell said.

The rockets fell as the Iraqi parliament held its first session since deadly unrest took over the capital city last month to vote on the resignation of parliamentary speaker Mohammed al-Halbousi.

Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi "directed the security forces to pursue and arrest the perpetrators of the missile bombing attack on the Green Zone," a statement from his office read.

Iran's Revolutionary Guards targeted anti-Iran groups, including the Kurdistan Freedom Party (Azadi), the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan (KDPI), and the Organization of the Toilers of Kurdistan (Komala)
[PUBLISH.TWITTER]

Rudaw’s take:
IRGC rains down missiles, drones on Kurdistan Region killing nine

In a move of desperation, unable to control unrest at home, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on Wednesday showered with ballistic missiles and suicide drones bases of Kurdish opposition groups in the Kurdistan Region under the pretext of fueling protest across the country.

The attacks by the IRGC, according to an initial tally obtained from the Kurdish health ministry, killed nine people and maimed 32 others with the toll expected to increase.

The IRGC in a statement confirmed the use of drones and missiles in the attacks, saying the operations will continue until all bases of Iranian-Kurdish opposition groups are dismantled and the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) fulfilling its duty in doing so.

Iranian state media reported the use of Fath 360 missiles in the attack, the latest of the Islamic Theocratic Republic’s satellite-oriented missile system.

The IRGC also used Shahed-136 suicide drones — a model that was exported from Iran
...Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979...
to Russia for its ongoing war in Ukraine, according to IRNA.

Iranian drones kept circulating around the city of Koya with occasional strikes where KDPI bases are located, at the time this article was written.

The attacks also targeted a school in the town of Koya where students and teachers were present.

Mohammed Salih Qaderi, head of KDPI’s public affairs told Rudaw the attack was "on the camp where women and kiddies are, civilian people are there."

Bases of Iranian-Kurdish opposition groups are "close by" the camp of the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran (KDPI), he added.

"Several" Komala members have suffered slight injuries, party member Abdullah Azeber said.

The KRG "strongly" condemned the attacks on the Region’s illusory sovereignty, saying "attacks on opposition groups through the Islamic Theocratic Republic of Iran’s missiles, under any pretext, are an incorrect stance which promotes a misleading interpretation of the course of events."

Ahmed al-Sahaf, spokesperson for Iraq’s foreign ministry, said the ministry will summon the Iranian ambassador in Baghdad "to hand him a strongly worded protest note due to the continuous bombing of areas in the Kurdistan Region."

Iranian authorities have been in a state of panic since the Kurdish opposition groups based in Kurdistan Region in Iraq called for a general strike across the Kurdish areas in western Iran on September 19, setting off the recent wave of unrest across the country.

Iran for the past week used artillery to attack the Kurdistan Region in an attempt to target Kurdish opposition groups. The offenses were triggered by the mass protests which engulfed the country after the death of Mahsa (Zhina) Amini in police custody with the Iranian regime unable to suppress the demonstrations.

The recent attacks, however, were proven inaccurate until Wednesday, a day after the IRGC publicly accused Kurdish groups of being behind the latest wave of protests inside the country.

"The shelling of the counter-revolutionary positions and their bases ... in the northern Iraqi region is in the pursuit of this strategic approach. We have informed our friends in the [Kurdistan] Region that taking up position and establishing bases by the enemies of the Islamic revolution on their land is not acceptable," IRGC Deputy Commander for Operations Abbas Nilforoushan said.

KDPI, Komala, Free Life Party of Kurdistan (PJAK), and Kurdistan Freedom Party (PAK) all have forces inside Iranian cities. The latest attacks by Iran on the groups could escalate to armed conflict inside Iran, despite forces like the KDPI on several occasions claiming they will refrain from the use of force and let the protest movements remain civil.

The Iranian regime has taken a heavy-handed approach and detained thousands of protesters, lawyers, activist muppets, students, women rights activist muppets, and at least 20 journalists. In the past, security forces have subjected detainees to sexual abuse, flogging, and electric shocks.

The Iranian Regime has also come under fire internationally.

The UN has expressed concern over the violent mostly peaceful response by the security forces and the UK representative to the UN Human Rights Council called on Iran to "carry out independent, transparent investigations into" Amini’s death and "and the excessive violence used against subsequent protests."

The United States on Monday encouraged countries around the globe to support the Iranian people amid the ongoing protests, saying that the people of the country should be able to exercise their "universal rights."

Washington on Thursday sanctioned Iran’s morality police, accusing the forces of being responsible for Amini’s death, in addition to seven security bigshots for allegedly overseeing the use of violence against "peaceful protesters."

The move was followed by Canada, and Germany’s foreign ministry on Monday summoned the Iranian ambassador and called on Iranian authorities to allow peaceful protests and not use "further violence, let alone deadly violence, against demonstrators."

US shoots down Iranian drone in northern Iraq - report
[JPost] The US Central Command condemned the IRGC's attacks, which killed one US citizen, according to an unconfirmed report.

The US had to shoot down an Iranian drone on Wednesday as Iran carried out attacks across northern Iraq’s Kurdistan region.

"At approximately 2:10 p.m. local time, US forces brought down an Iranian Mohajer-6 unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) headed in the direction of Erbil as it appeared as a threat to CENTCOM forces in the area," Colonel Joe Buccino, US Central Command’s communications director, said in a statement which was reported on Kurdistan 24.

CNN reported the US scrambled an F-15 to shoot down the drone. This would make the incident very serious and show how quickly the US responded. One US official described this as a "significant incident," the CNN report said.

The Central Command statement condemned the Iranian incursion as an "unprovoked attack" by the IRGC and said it was "indiscriminate." The statement said it threatened civilian lives.

The drone was apparently a Mohajer-6 drone. This is the kind of drone that Iran has supplied to Venezuela and Ethiopia according to other reports. It is one of Iran’s latest models and a workhorse of Iran’s increasingly growing drone force. US forces are in Iraq at the invitation of the Iraqi government to help fight ISIS. In the last several years the US has withdrawn from many facilities in Iraq and concentrated some forces in Erbil in the Kurdistan region.

Iran and its proxies in Iraq have carried out several attacks on US forces in and around Erbil. It has used drones and rockets to attack Erbil in the last years as well. Pro-Iranian groups launched drones at US forces in Syria from Iraq in August and the US retaliated against Iranian-backed groups in Syria. In addition in April 2021 reports said a drone targeted a "CIA hangar" at Erbil International Airport, according to the Washington Post.

According to today’s report at Kurdistan24, the US Central Command condemned "the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ unprovoked attack in Iraq’s Erbil Governorate this morning...Such indiscriminate attacks threaten innocent civilians and risk the hard-fought stability of the region." No US forces were harmed.

The US has condemned Iran’s attacks in northern Iraq today and over the last several days. The attacks targeted Kurdish opposition groups. The fact the US had to down a drone could indicate Iran was using the drone to carry out a battle damage assessment near Erbil or was planning to use the attacks on Kurdish groups as cover to also attack the US. The US has downed drones in the past; earlier this year US aircraft downed Iranian drones that were targeting Israel. That incident in February included the downing of two drones by US warplanes. In January the US also downed drones over Baghdad that threatened Baghdad airport.

Palestinian gunmen ‘planning significant attacks’ killed in Jenin gunbattle with IDF
[IsraelTimes] 4 dead include Abd al-Rahman Hazem, whose brother killed 3 in Tel Aviv terror attack; Hazem and 2nd gunman carried out several recent attacks; PA man who opened fire among killed

At least four Paleostinians were killed in an Israeli military raid Wednesday morning in the northern West Bank city of Jenin, Israeli and Paleostinian officials said.

A Border Police front man said in a statement that officers along with Israel Defense Forces soldiers sought to arrest Abd al-Rahman Hazem, the brother of a terrorist who carried out a deadly shooting attack in Tel Aviv earlier this year, and Muhammed Alownah.

The pair were responsible for a series of shooting attacks in recent months, including one that targeted a Defense Ministry engineering vehicle working along the northern West Bank security barrier earlier this month, the police front man said. Israeli officials said the pair planned "more significant attacks in the near future."

Israeli troops had surrounded the home belonging to the family of Ra’ad Hazem, the terrorist who opened fire on April 7 on patrons at the Ilka bar on Dizengoff street in Tel Aviv, killing three.

Footage published by Paleostinian media outlets showed smoke rising from the building in Jenin.

Paleostinian media reported that troops fired small missiles at the building, but the IDF and police said the wanted button men set off a large bomb as troops attempted to enter the home. The IDF later published drone footage showing the moment the two button men set off the bombs as troops surrounded the home.

"Hazem and Alownah were killed in the exchange of fire," police said, adding that troops seized an assault rifle from one of the button men.

Police also published headcam footage of officers approaching the home and killing one of the button men who appeared to have jumped out of the building.

The Paleostinian Authority health ministry said another two people were killed in the festivities, and 44 others were hurt, including several listed at death's door.

terror group said its members shot up troops near the Hazem family home.

The third killed Paleostinian was identified as Ahmed Alawneh, 24, a member of the Paleostinian Authority security forces. He was killed as he was firing at Israeli troops in the area, according to footage published by Paleostinian media outlets.

The fourth fatality was named as Muhammad Abu Na’asa.

There were no Israeli injuries in the operation.

Hazem’s father, Fathi, as well as two of his brothers, have been wanted for questioning since the attack. Fathi Hazem publicly praised his son’s actions following the deadly assault on the busy bar.

Hazem killed Tomer Morad and Eytam Magini, two friends aged 27, and Barak Lufan, a 35-year-old father of three, in the shooting and injured about a dozen others. He went on the run following the murders and was found hiding near a mosque in Jaffa after an hours-long manhunt involving hundreds of security officers. While initially raising his hands in surrender, Hazem then drew a gun and opened fire on the officers, who fired back and killed him, security forces said at the time.

Earlier this month, the IDF demolished Hazem’s apartment in the Jenin refugee camp.

The IDF raid Wednesday came amid rising violence in the West Bank, particularly in its north.

On Tuesday night, Israeli troops came under gunfire near the Paleostinian town of Asira ash-Shamaliya during "routine activity."

Shots fired at Israeli vehicle in southern West Bank; IDF launches manhunt
[IsraelTimes] Shots were fired at an Israeli vehicle driving through the southern West Bank on Wednesday night, the military said.

No injuries were caused, but the car was slightly damaged in the attack.

According to the Israel Defense Forces, the driver came under fire from a passing vehicle near the Adorayim junction in the South Hebron Hills area of the West Bank.

The driver continued driving until he reached the settlement of Negohot and reported the incident.

The IDF said it launched a manhunt for the button men.

The shooting came hours after IDF chief Aviv Kohavi held a meeting with brass hats regarding an uptick in shooting attacks and general violence in the West Bank.

[NPASYRIA] Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), in corporation with Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish), seized on Tuesday large number of ammunition and explosives belonging to Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
Organization (ISIS) in the countryside of the city of Qamishli, northeastern Syria.

In a statement, Media Center of the SDF said, "Our forces have confiscated a large number of weapons, ammunition, and explosives belonging to ISIS cells that were hidden in Qirewan village, the southern countryside of Tel Hamis."

According to the initial investigations, "the terrorist cell was planning to use these weapons in a potential attack on the al-Hol camp," the SDF added.

Based on precise intelligence and the confessions of several Lions of Islam arrested earlier in Hawl Camp during Humanity and Security Operation, the hideout was revealed, as the "terrorist cells" were using a farm as a cache to collect and store weapons, according to the statement.

On August 25, the Asayish announced launching the second phase of Operation "Humanity and Security" in Hawl Camp to pursue the sleeper cells of the ISIS.

The statement said that they seized the following:

Fifty-eight AK 47, one M72 LAW, one MG3 rifle, 84 Silencers, 19 hand grenades, 596 AK 47 magazines, two Pistol Magazines, tow M16 magazines, one night scope, one RPG 7 scope, 38 quivers, 40 quivers for marine use, 200 RPG 7 rockets, 149 RPG 7 shells, 12.310 AK 47 rounds, 3.140 BKC rounds, 5.400 M 16 rounds, 900 AKC rounds, 79 machin gun 12,5 rounds, 358 Mobil phone used for remote detonation, five wireless devices, five ground IEDs, 14 IEDs for vehicles, and large amount of kabooms TNT, for IDEs use.

"This operation is considered another strong blow dealt to the terrorist organization ISIS and its supporters ... and it confirms once again the serious threat of ISIS" amid international ignorance, the statement added.

On September 21, Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish) aborted an attack by a sleeper cell of the ISIS in Hawl Camp east of Hasakah, northeast Syria.

Front), supervised by security apparatus, continued an excavation operation in an archaeological site in the west of Idlib Governorate, northwest Syria, using heavy machinery.

This is the third excavation operation carried out in the countryside of Idlib.

A local source, from the village of Kabta, west of Idlib, said a drilling and excavation workshop, affiliated with the HTS, started excavating an archaeological site south of the village, using heavy machinery two days ago.

This is not the first time, as the board had previously carried out archaeological excavations in Sheikh Youssef hill, west of Idlib, about three months ago, according to the source.

At that time, they extracted mosaic panels, some archaeological models, and gold pieces, preventing residents from approaching the site until completion. An informed source of Economics Directorate of the HTS’ Salvation Government said that the archaeological exploration were carried by specialized teams, taking into account the importance of antiques and artifacts

He stressed that the archaeological exploration was not for of trade.

The source added that the exploration operations aimed at reviving the heritage of the area to present it in the near future within exhibitions or a special museum in the area.

The source indicated that there are thefts and infringements by some influential people in the military authority, by excavating archaeological sites without returning to Syrian government, selling them to active black market traders in The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
