Afghanistan
Daily Evacuation Brief September 28, 2022
[AfghanDigest] LAST 24 HOURS
  • BAGRAM EQUIPMENT RELOCATED TO TAJIK BORDER — Yesterday’s Daily Evacuation Brief reported that a large number of vehicles and equipment were being secretively moved from Bagram Air Base to an undisclosed location. Based on footage received today, it appears that at least a portion of the vehicles and equipment was sent to Afghanistan-Tajikistan border posts in Kunduz, Takhar, and Badakhshan provinces. The Taliban may be bulking up their posts in response to the Tajik government recently reinforcing their side of the border. Despite the Tajik Foreign Minister’s inflammatory remarks at the United Nations last week and the buildup of security forces on the border, there have been no reports of clashes and traffic has been observed transiting normally.

    • It should be noted that Taliban equipment is beginning to break down, and regular maintenance of vehicles has been nonexistent for many units. This move could simply be part of a plan to replace or repair worn-out vehicles.

  • 17 DOSTUM AFFILIATES ROUNDED UP — As of Wednesday morning, it is being reported that GDI agents brought 17 of Marshal Dostum’s former colleagues to Kandahar for questioning. The 17 men were rounded up in Balkh, Kabul, Herat, and Kandahar. Messages from those who were arrested do not indicate any torture or abuse has taken place, and some detainees were allowed to keep their phones in their possession, which suggests the questioning may be more benign than initially thought. No further information was available.

  • UN DEPUTY SPECIAL REPRESENTATIVE FOR AFGHANISTAN BRIEFS UNSC— Markus Potzel, the Secretary-General’s Deputy Special Representative (Political) for Afghanistan, briefed the UN Security Council on developments in Afghanistan on Tuesday. Mr. Potzel’s remarks were generally negative, focusing on the continued exclusion of girls from schools, the ongoing violence nationwide, and the simultaneous humanitarian, economic, and human rights crises. He highlighted the UN’s competing priorities of ensuring human rights and political representation while simultaneously dealing with the humanitarian crisis. A full transcript of his remarks can be found HERE.

CONFLICT TRACKER
Takhar: Taliban forces attacked the NRF base in the Chal district in a rare night operation. A source on the scene reports that approximately 100 Taliban were involved in the operation. Casualties have been moderate, but due to cellular outages at night an accurate number was not available. The fighting continued through the night.

NEXT 24 HOURS
TAKHAR, A NEW FRONT? — While the fighting in Panjshir has eclipsed the events taking place in Takhar over the past month, it should be noted that multiple battles between the NRF, other affiliated Resistance groups, and the Taliban have steadily been fought in the province over the last 45 days. In recent weeks, the engagements have increased in both frequency and intensity. Some Afghanistan observers believe the Taliban’s lack of success in Panjshir has forced them to open a new front. Others believe the NRF escalated attacks in the province to draw Taliban forces out of Panjshir and alleviate pressure on their strongholds. Regardless, the end result is that Takhar will likely continue to be the second most active province in fighting between the Resistance and the Taliban. Consequently, non-combatants in the area should exercise appropriate caution.

Taliban Official Assumes New Role as Provincial Governor of Panjshir
[KhaamaPress] Mawlana Mohammad Mohsen Hashemi, the Taliban
...Arabic for students...
’s new governor for the northern Afghan province of Panjshir, started taking the capacity following a formal introduction ceremony.

The newly appointed Taliban governor of Panjshir province began his duties as the governor on Monday, the 26th of September.

According to the Taliban-run Bakhtar state news agency, Mawlana Mohammad Mohsen Hashemi served as the Deputy Minister of Interior Affairs before being appointed as the governor of Panjshir province.

Serving people and ensuring their security are the top priorities of his priorities, said the Taliban governor of Panjshir, Mawlana Hashemi.

The appointment comes as Panjshir province, the birthplace of the National Resistance® Front (NRF), an gang resisting the Taliban rule, has seen fatal skirmishes between the Taliban and members of NRF.

Consequently, many families are reported to have fled their homes in Panjshir in search of security in the surrounding provinces.

This comes as the Taliban supreme leader, Mullah Hibatullah Akhundzada, previously in late August, appointed a special military commander for Panjshir province.

Under the decree of the Taliban supreme leader, Abdul Qayyum Zakir, who served as the Deputy Minister of Defense and is reported to be one of the top military commanders of the Taliban, was appointed as the special military commander.

More than ten terrorists killed in central Somalia
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[REGNUM] At least 11 terrorists from the al-Shabab group (an organization whose activities are banned in the Russian Federation) were eliminated by the Somali national army during an operation in Hiran province in central Somalia, SNA Radio reports.

According to her, the elite units of the Somali army attacked militants near the village of Buk-Akable. They managed to eliminate the terrorists and destroy their vehicles.

“The armed forces have officially taken control of the Buk Akable area in the Hiran region after killing 11 terrorists ,” the radio station said.

The military notes that gaining control over the area will greatly help the fight against terrorism in central Somalia.

As REGNUM reported earlier , on September 5, a terrorist attack took place in Hiran province in Somalia, killing at least 20 people. They used explosive devices to blow up a convoy of food and drinking water. The Somali authorities noted that the al-Shabab group (an organization whose activities are banned in the Russian Federation) is responsible for the attack.
Garowe adds lots of details:
The Somali National Army [SNA] along with the local militia and allied partners continued crackdown against al-Shabaab
...... the personification of Somali state failure...
holy warriors in several parts of the country, in the latest execution targeting to eliminate the holy warriors from different parts of the Horn of Africa nation.

Army radio [SNA Radio] noted that the military conducted an operation at Buq Aqable town within the Hiiraan. The development was significant in the sense that the town has been under the control of al-Shabaab for a couple of years, given its strategic location.

Elsewhere, the army with the help of Southwest regional troops liberated several towns which have also been under al-Shabaab dominance including Saydhelow, Bula-Jadid, Matani, Uusli, and Busley of the Bay region, state media confirmed, in yet another milestone within Somalia.

Also participating in the crackdown were local militia who took arms against al-Shabaab in solidarity with that government. Some of the areas which were liberated are in notorious Galgaduud and Hiiraan regions and the crackdown is set to continue for a while.

In the Bay region of Southwest state, troops managed to kick murderous Moslems out from Baayale, Caliyow Dooyow, Xaawa Dhaaysile, Boorame, Karanoy, and Daawuudow villages under the Daynuunaay outside Baidoa city, state media noted. al-Shabaab is dominant in central and southern Somalia.

At HirShabelle, the military raided Hiran province and captured El-Ade and El-Ali villages as well as Moqokori and Hidiga Caag-Xoog villages which are about 90-KM west of the regional capital city Baladweyne. President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud had termed the holy warriors as "mafia".

The United States has pledged to continue assisting the military to regain most parts of the country that are still under al-Shabaab control. The group continues to dominate most parts of the country and has been extorting millions of US dollars from unsuspecting locals.
And from Shabelle Media:
Major Hassan Mohammed, a senior Danab commander confirmed the full takeover of Buq Aqable town following the raid that led to the retreat of al-Shabaab
...... the Islamic version of the old Somali warlord...
from their bases.

India-Pakistan
India cracks down on Muslim group for ‘anti-national activities’
[Dawn] Indian authorities detained scores of members of a Moslem organization on Tuesday, accusing them of violence and anti-national activities.

The arrests follow a crackdown earlier this month on the Popular Front of India (PFI)
…the latest identity of Pakistan sock puppet National Development Front (NDF) and the banned Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI). They’re fond of IEDs, swords, Al Qaeda and Taliban propaganda, the perverse pleasures of Love Jihad, and have surprisingly well-trained connections with jihadis in Bangladesh and Pakistan...
in which about 100 people were detained.

The PFI has condemned the detentions and related raids as harassment and held street protests.

"This is nothing but prevention of the right to democratic protests against the central government’s witch-hunt targeting PFI and is quite natural and expected under this autocratic system," PFI said on Twitter on Tuesday after what it called "massive arrests".

Police in India’s most populous state of Uttar Pradesh said they detained 57 persons linked to the PFI on Tuesday because of "violent mostly peaceful acts conducted by them and their rising anti-national activities across the country".

Similar detentions were made in the northeastern state of Assam, its chief minister told news hounds, days after he asked for a ban on the PFI.

Earlier this month, the federal National Investigation Agency raided locations in the states of Bihar, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh and detained some PFI members, accusing them of organising training camps to "commit terrorist acts" or being involved in "anti-national activities".

The PFI has supported causes like street protests against a 2019 citizenship law that many Moslems see as discriminatory.

Moslems account for 13 per cent of India’s 1.4 billion people and many have complained of marginalisation under the rule of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party.

The party denies the charges and points to data that all Indians irrespective of religion are benefiting from Modi’s focus on economic development and social welfare.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Police clash with protesters in East Jerusalem for 3rd straight night
[IsraelTimes] Cops report unrest in Silwan and Sur Baher as Rosh Hashanah holiday comes to a close

Police clashed with East Jerusalem protesters Tuesday night, authorities said, the latest confrontation amid days of unrest in the capital.

Police said demonstrators in the Sur Baher and Silwan neighborhoods hurled rocks and shot fireworks at officers and lit dumpsters on fire. Police said they used non-lethal means to disperse the protests.

Kan news reported Tuesday that police believed the unrest could continue for weeks, with law enforcement seeing a rise in incitement surrounding the Temple Mount.

Tuesday was the third night in a row of violence in the capital and came at the end of the Rosh Hashanah holiday.

Monday saw dozens of masked rioters clash with officers at several locations across East Jerusalem, according to a police statement. No injuries or damage were reported. Border Police were deployed across the area to enforce order and clear the protesters using riot dispersal methods, police said.

Security forces remain on high alert amid a crackdown on terror groups in the West Bank, and concerns of terror attacks during the Jewish High Holidays.

Security presence has been bolstered in the West Bank and Jerusalem in order to deal with the mounting threats. In recent days, several violent mostly peaceful festivities have occurred between Paleostinians and police in East Jerusalem and in the al-Aqsa Mosque on the Temple Mount.

On Tuesday Israel Police Commissioner Yaakov Shabtai toured the Temple Mount in Jerusalem’s Old City.

"So far the incidents in Jerusalem have been contained," Shabtai said. "We are ready for any scenario."

Police said that while touring the Temple Mount and the rest of the Old City, Shabtai was briefed on the force’s "enhanced deployment" in Jerusalem and elsewhere over the High Holidays.

The presence of Jewish visitors on the Temple Mount is opposed by Paleostinians and Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood, has warned of violent mostly peaceful "repercussions" over visits during the High Holidays — which began Sunday evening and run into mid-October — when the number of Jews who tour the site typically rises.

The Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamaswith about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
-ruling terror group regularly describes itself as the primary force defending the Temple Mount, which houses the al-Aqsa Mosque, against Israel.

The hilltop compound has long been the focus of tensions, but Paleostinians have voiced increasing anger at the rising number of visits by Jews, which according to an activist muppet group nearly doubled to a record high of over 50,000 during the past year.

The Temple Mount is the holiest site in Judaism and is revered as the location of both ancient Jewish temples. The compound is Islam’s third holiest site and is managed by Jordan — whom Israel captured the Old City and rest of East Jerusalem from in the 1967 Six Day War — as part of a delicate arrangement with the Jewish state.

Israeli troops come under fire near northern West Bank town; no injuries

Operations were conducted out of Egypt until 1981 when the group was exiled after the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. They worked out of Gaza until they were exiled to Lebanon in 1987, where they clove tightly to Hezbollah. In 1989 they moved to Damascus, where they remain a subsidiary of Hezbollah...
claims responsibility, publishes video of members shooting at soldiers in area

Israeli troops operating in the northern West Bank on Tuesday night came under fire by Paleostinian button men, the military said.

According to the Israel Defense Forces, troops were conducting "routine activity" near the Paleostinian town of Asira ash-Shamaliya, when Paleostinian button men opened fire from a passing vehicle.

No soldiers were hurt in the incident, and the IDF said troops returned fire at the button men as they fled.

A local wing of the Paleostinian Islamic Jihad said its members had shot up Israeli troops close to the nearby village of Jaba’, about 12 kilometers northwest of Asira ash-Shamaliya.

The Jenin wing of the PIJ published a video purportedly showing the moment of the shooting.

The IDF said it was unaware of another shooting incident near Jaba’, indicating the PIJ claim was in reference to the same event near Asira ash-Shamaliya.

Earlier Tuesday, the military announced the arrest of four suspects in the northern West Bank, as part of a months-long counter-terror crackdown.

[IsraelTimes] Opposition media based abroad says widespread demonstrations continue in different cities

Iranians on Tuesday staged a 12th straight night of protests over the death in jug of Mahsa Amini, in defiance of a crackdown that a rights group says has killed more than 75 people.

The women-led demonstrations flared after the 22-year-old Kurdish woman died in the custody of the notorious morality police for reportedly not observing the Islamic Theocratic Republic’s strict dress code.

Fourteen people have been indicted in connection with their alleged roles in the 2020 killing of a top nuclear scientist in an attack Tehran has blamed on Israel, an Iranian state news agency said Monday.

According to the report by the Islamic Theocratic Republic News Agency, the 14 were charged on a number of counts, including "corruption on earth, contribution to intelligence and espionage for the Zionist regime, collusion aimed at disrupting Iran’s security, and endangering the Islamic country’s security."

There were no details given on the identity of the 12, including their nationalities.

Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites....

Iran has blamed Israel for killing its top nuclear scientist, Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, with a remote-controlled machine gun while he was traveling in a car outside Tehran.

Fakhrizadeh, identified by Israel as the father of Iran’s rogue nuclear weapons program, was assassinated in the sophisticated hit reportedly led by a Mossad team.
