Report: US to target 2,000 migrant families on Sunday
[DW] US immigration agents under the administration of President Donald Trump
...dictatorial for repealing some (but not all) of the diktats of his predecessor, misogynistic because he likes pretty girls, homophobic because he doesn't think gender bending should be mandatory, truly a man for all seasons......
are set to launch a massive crackdown on migrant families this weekend. Unnamed Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials told The Washington Post that on Sunday the agency plans to target some 2,000 families who recently arrived in the country illegally.
Heads up, guys: take yourselves away in an orderly manner before you get caught and thrown out with only the clothes on your back.
Earlier this week, ICE acting Director Mark Morgan had told news hounds that such an operation would soon take place, but had not specified when.

According to the newspaper, the raids will target 10 cities including Houston, reliably Democrat Chicago, aka The Windy City or Mobtown
... home of Al Capone, a succession of Daleys, Barak Obama, and Rahm Emmanuel,...
, Miami, and Los Angeles.

The order to conduct what is being called the "family op" reportedly came directly from the White House, whereas the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) had asked for authorities to find only about 150 families who had been given attorney but "dropped out of the legal process and absconded."

DHS acting Secretary Kevin McAleenan had voiced concerns that moving to arrest so many families would separate many children from their parents, as they could be at childcare programs or visiting others during the summer school vacation.

'At the request of Democrats, I have delayed the Illegal Immigration Removal Process (Deportation) for two weeks to see if the Democrats and Republicans can get together and work out a solution to the Asylum and Loophole problems at the Southern Border. Afghanistan
Security Threats Remain High In Khwaja Omari District
[ToloNews] The Khwaja Omari district in the central province of Ghazni is still facing security threats after it was cleared of Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
earlier this month, local officials and local residents said on Friday.

The residents said there is a need for a large scale military operation to remove the threats, some Khwaja Omari residents said.

Some residents of the district who left their houses during the conflicts have returned back to their homes.

Khwaja Omari district is located 18 kilometers to the east the city of Ghazni and was under Taliban control for almost one year.

"When we retook the district, most parts of it were destroyed by blasts," the Ghazni Police Chief Mohammad Khalid Wardak said.

"There are some problems, including lack of schools, especially for girls," the Ghazni governor Wahidullah Kalimzai said.

A commander of 203 Thunder Corps, Abdul Mubeen Mujtaba, said that Khwaja Omari district is threatened by its neighboring districts in Maidan Wardak district, but he said that the Afghan forces "always ready" to thwart the threats.

The Afghan forces have retaken two districts of Ghazni from the Taliban in less than a month, but reports indicate that almost half of almost 300 voter registration centers have remained closed in the district due to security issues.

Libya Grand Mufti calls for public support to GNA
[Libya Observer] Libyan Grand Mufti, Sheikh Sadiq al-Ghariani
...Libyan Moslem Brüderhood Grand Mufti since 2012. Issued a fatwa forbidding Libyan women from marrying foreign men. Issued a fatwa against a UN Commission on the Status of Women's report because it urged governments to protect women and girls against violence. Aligned with the GNC govt...
has called on citizens to stand with the Government of National Accord (GNA), and on the government to carry out its duties and support the war-maimed and battlefronts with all the means available.

"The government should integrate with its people and not accept any compliment at the expense of the national interest," Sheikh al-Gharyani said.

On his weekly program, Islam and life, on Tanasuh TV channel, on Wednesday, the Grand Mufti called the government to benefit from the wide public support they received for standing against Haftar's aggression on Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
and not to succumb to the international community because its intervention has no limit.

He also urged all categories of the society and the battlefronts to unite strongly behind the GNA, saying "It is the legitimate cover for our fight against the aggressors."

The Mufti called for a Libyan-Libyan initiative to resolve the current crisis in the country, stressing that the international community role should be restricted merely to the process of observation.

African Union: Libya's crisis cannot be resolved militarily
But it has been fairly conclusively demonstrated that Libya’s crisis most certainly can’t be resolved non-militarily, so militarily is all that’s left. We could colonize, I s’pose, except nobody wants the thankless job and anyway that would still be a military solution — just involving a new party.
[Libya Observer] The Chairperson of the African Union
...a union consisting of 53 African states, most run by dictators of one flavor or another. The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful...
Commission Moussa Faki told news hounds Thursday that there can be no military solution to the Libyan crisis.

Faki told French newspaper Jeune Afrique that the Libyan Reconciliation Conference that is scheduled in next July in Addis Ababa won't be held till a ceasefire is reached in Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
Faki also called for an end to hostilities in Libya and a return to dialogue to find a way out of the conflict and reach a consensus about elections, adding that foreign intervention in the country has become clear and some countries are fueling the conflict by flowing arms into Libya.

Last April, the African Union announced a Libyan Reconciliation Conference after the then April-14-16 UN-brokered National Conference that was supposed to take place in Ghadames but interrupted on April 04 by Khalifa Haftar
...Self-proclaimed Field Marshal, served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. He became a prisoner of war in Chad in 1987. While held prisoner, he and his fellow officers formed a group hoping to overthrow Qadaffy, so it's kind of hard to describe him as a Qadaffy holdover. He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. In 1993, while living in the United States, he was convicted in absentia of crimes against the Jamahiriya and sentenced to death. Haftar held a senior position in the anti-Qadaffy forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. In 2014 he was commander of the Libyan Army when the General National Congress (GNC) refused to give up power in accordance with its term of office. Haftar launched a campaign against the GNC and its Islamic fundamentalist allies. His campaign allowed elections to take place to replace the GNC, but then developed into a civil war. Guess you can't win them all...

US Senate votes to block Saudi arms sales
[DAWN] The Republican-led US Senate voted on Thursday to block $8.1 billion in arms sales to Soddy Arabia

Seven Republicans joined Democrats in supporting each of three resolutions that would prevent the controversial sales announced earlier this year by Trump.

The measures would block 22 separate sales of aircraft support maintenance, precision-guided munitions and other weapons to Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Jordan at a moment of heightened tensions in the Middle East.

The votes were only assured this week when Republican leadership agreed to hold the sensitive roll calls on the arms sales that critics say will aggravate the devastating war in Yemen

Britain
UK police arrest 44 on historic child sex abuse allegations
[DAWN] Police in northern England say they have arrested 44 people in connection with allegations of child sex abuse between 1995 and 2002.
No names mentioned. I'm guessing the majority of them aren't Clives or Nigels.
West Yorkshire Police said in a statement on Friday that 36 men and three women were arrested across the towns of Kirklees, Bradford and Leeds over the last two weeks. Five other men were arrested at the end of last year over the same investigation.

Police said all 44 have been interviewed and released under investigation, which centres on allegations made by four women of sexual abuse committed against them as children mainly in the Dewsbury and Batley area of Kirklees.

Detective Inspector Seth Robinson, who is leading the investigation, said protecting children remains the force's "top priority" and hopes the arrests "reassure our local communities".

Europe
Sweden Opens Door to Increased Chain Migration
[BREITBART] The Swedish parliament, the Riksdag, has voted in favour of making it easier for Syrian migrants colonists and refugees to bring family members to the country, with only two parties voting against the proposal.

All of the parties in the Riksdag voted for the measure except for the centre-right Moderates and the populist Sweden Democrats (SD).

The two parties also voted against the so-called "high school law" which has allowed thousands of Afghan migrants colonists to remain in the country, Swedish broadcaster SVT reports.

Along with making "family reunifications" for Syrians easier, the Riksdag voted to extend a temporary residency permits order which was enacted during the height of the migrant crisis in 2015.

The Left party opposed the extension of the order ‐ but only so it could argue that Sweden should return to an even more lax asylum policy, as was the case prior to the 2015 crisis.

#4  Parliaments have no right to do this. There should be a referendum or poll before any legislation that seeks to or shall inadvertently alter the entire demographic landscape of the nation that the parliament serves in the first place.

This should be a law, legislated immediately to protect national majorities in the face of minority vote-bank expansion, appeasement of globalist lobbies and infiltration by admittedly hostile actors into unsuspecting populations.

Stupid bitch demagogues will destroy themselves, for nothing. What can be gained at all from it ? Cheap labor ? meaningful diversity ? Good-will ? Nothing. I call it 'asking for Barabbas'.

The Grand Turk
US sanction on Turkish defense firms could go beyond F-35 suppliers
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Washington is looking at imposing financial sanctions on Ottoman Turkish firms beyond those that build parts for the Lockheed Martin F-35 fighter jet, over Ankara’s plans to buy a Russian air defense system, a top Pentagon official said on Monday.

Chief arms buyer Ellen Lord said US officials viewed The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...Qatar's colony in Asia Minor...
as an important NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A single organization with differing goals, equipment, language, doctrine, and structure....
ally and urged it to drop its plans to buy the Russian-built S-400 air defense system so that its companies could continue to build critical parts for a wide range of other US weapons systems besides the F-35 fighter jet.

The discussion has focused so far mainly on the high profile F-35 program. But Lord’s comments at the Gay Paree Airshow reflected growing concern in Washington about Turkey’s refusal to reverse its purchase of the S-400 system.

Lord said the issues were being kept separate for now, but an inter-agency U.S. government group was looking at potential sanctions against a wider range of Ottoman Turkish firms under the US Countering America’s Adversaries Through Sanctions Act (CAATSA).

"We have bifurcated the S-400 and F-35 impact from (the) impact to the rest of our defense and commercial industry," Lord told news hounds. "Everything outside of the F-35 from a defense perspective, we have reviewed within the department and that would be subject to any CAATSA sanctions."

She said no decisions had been made, but a decision to proceed with sanctions would hit the Ottoman Turkish industry hard.

"There have been no decisions made on that point. However it would be very, very significant for Turkey," Lord said, noting that the US industry was resilient and could find other sources for the Ottoman Turkish parts.

"That’s not really what we want to do," she said. "We want to find a way to continue to work with Turkey."

Ottoman Turkish firms build 937 parts for the stealth fighter, and Ankara had planned to buy 100 of F-35 fighters, which would have a total value of $9 billion at current prices. The Pentagon now plans to move that production to US sites and elsewhere, ending Turkey’s manufacturing role by early next year.

Ottoman Turkish officials argue that Ankara is fulfilling its responsibilities in the F-35 project and expected the program to continue as planned. They say buying the S-400s is only meant to meet Turkey’s defense needs and posed no threats to the F-35.

Ralph Acaba, president of Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems, said Ottoman Turkish firms build components for the company’s Patriot missile defense system, although Turkey does not own or operate that system.

He said Ottoman Turkish firms were important, reliable suppliers, but Raytheon was constantly looking at alternatives, based on risk assessments. He declined to provide details on the total amount of Ottoman Turkish content on Raytheon weapons systems.

US Senator Ted Cruz says will introduce new legislation labelling Muslim Brotherhood a terrorist group
[AlAhram] US Senator Ted Cruz said he is planning to introduce "enhanced" legislation to designate the Moslem Brüderbund a terrorist organization "in the short future," in remarks made to a panel held Thursday on the issue.

Cruz sponsored legislation in 2017 that would require the White House to decide whether the Brotherhood fit the criteria for terrorist designation.

During the panel, held at a US Senate building, Cruz dismissed calls to think of the Brotherhood as a moderate group and said the organization "does not hide they are a terrorist organization."

Egypt designated the Brotherhood a terrorist organization in 2013, months after the ouster of Islamist president Mohammed Morsi following mass protests.

Cruz said Cairo has done so "perhaps because they have seen first-hand what that terror looks like and the slaughter that it can produce."

"We need that same clarity," he said in a video message to the panel, which was organised by American Pulse, an Egyptian media company that produces a weekly TV programme from New York. It was also attended by Congressman Louie Gohmert of Texas.

Cruz said the intent of the Brotherhood is stated within its Explanatory Memorandum on the General Strategic Goal for the Brotherhood in North America which, according to him, says "the process of settlement is a civilization-jihad process...The [Moslem Brüderbund] must understand that their work in America is a kind of grand jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilisation from within."

The White House said in April that US President Donald Trump
...Perhaps no man has ever had as much fun being president of the US...
's administration is pushing to designate the Brotherhood a terrorist group, a move that would bring US sanctions against the movement.

Officials in the Pentagon and State Department have raised objections to the plan, saying that the group does not meet the legal definition of a terrorist group and that the designation might have unfavourable consequences.

Cruz slammed what he described as the B.O. regime’s "willful blindness" to radical Islamic terrorism, saying it is "dangerous and makes us vulnerable."

"The B.O. regime had edited or deleted over 800 records to remove any reference to jihad or Moslem brotherhood... it was a purge" directed by the White House," he said.

He urged the Congress to pass the legislation, and continued to urge the Trump’s administration to "act right now on its own today."
Ilhan Omar pronounces the measure as a "hate crime" in 5....4....

The protestors carried banners which read "India is not our final destination" and "refugees have basic rights".
The protestors carried banners which read "India is not our final destination" and "refugees have basic rights".

They said that the rally was launched to mark the World Refugee Day and attract the attention of the UN and the Indian government towards the "miserable" conditions of the Afghans living in New Delhi.

"We have not received any help," said Wazhma, an Afghan refugee in India. "We gathered here to share our problems. We urge the United Nation to assess our problems. None of the [European countries] has accepted us so far and the UN is not helping us."

"No one hears our voices here. The UN office should help us and hear our voices. It is not clear that either our asylum will be accepted or rejected after five or 15 years. If we are rejected, we should pay fine to India government because we do not have a visa," another Afghan refugee, Sonia, said.

Another Afghan national, Aminullah, 40, said he is living in New Delhi with his family for the past four years, waiting for their asylum application to be accepted.

"There are hundreds of families like me who are living in India in an uncertain situation and the UN is not taking care of them," Aminullah said.
Afghan diplomats in India said the embassy of Afghanistan was not involved in holding the protest.

"This protest was launched by refugees in New Delhi. Afghanistan’s embassy does not interfere in such affairs, but [the embassy] is always ready to provide consultancy services to them," said Humayun Nezami, the first secretary of the embassy.

Figures by Afghanistan’s Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation show that almost six million Afghans have left the country over the past 17 years as the conflicts and violence continue in the country.

Pakistan to set up special courts to tackle violence against women
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Pakistain is to set up more than 1,000 courts dedicated to tackling violence against women, the country’s top judge announced on Wednesday, seeking to tackle a problem activists say the criminal justice system has long neglected.

Asif Saeed Khosa said the special courts would allow victims to speak out without fear of retaliation in the conservative Moslem country, where domestic violence is often seen as taboo.

Pakistain sees thousands of cases of violence against women every year, from rape and acid attacks to sexual assault, kidnappings and so-called honor killings.

"We are going to have 1,016 gender-based violence courts across Pakistain, at least one such court apiece in every district," Khosa said in an address to fellow judges broadcast on national television.

"The atmosphere of these courts will be different from other courts so that complainants can speak their heart without any fear," he said.

The Human Rights Commission of Pakistain, an independent watchdog, reported at least 845 incidents of sexual violence against women in its 2018 report.

There were no comparative figures and the Commission had previously said violence against women went largely unreported, particularly in rural areas, where poverty and stigma prevented victims from speaking out.

The country was ranked sixth most dangerous for women in a Thomson Rooters Foundation a survey of global experts last year.

The new courts will operate in existing courthouses, but will hold domestic violence hearings separately from other cases to enable victims to testify in confidence.

A pilot court of this kind was opened in 2017 in Punjab, Pakistain’s most populous province.

#3  Interesting bit of news. According to the pakistani bureaucratic grapevine, the PM elect is a whippeddoting husband, and his current wife is also his 'spiritual mentor'.

Bushra Bibi was a known brujafaith healer and spiritualist, treating and counseling Imran Khan through a tumultuous time in his previous marriage and the elections. It is said that she dictates many of his domestic policies and does not like her inputs being undervalued.

Sources in the 'Stain also stake their hard earned ill-repute on the information that Bushra Maneka Khan is an avid practitioner of the black arts and herself claims to be in control of djinns (yupp!). She went by the name of Pinky Pir(seer) before her marriage, and aided her murid (follower) Imran Khan in his rise in pak politics. He is also supposed to wear clothes and amulets selected and blessed by her everyday. And there's a special wall in her house through which she consults the djinn.

Truth is she's a fundamentalist with a difference. She seeks to bring women's liberation to pakistain and increase participation in legislation for women. Also, a number of measures are being taken against patriarchal islamist committees and mullah groups that have so far lorded it over women in the 'Stain. Reporting and accounting of police failures in rape and acid attack cases has also increased considerably. There is an unsaid rule to deal severely with men arrested for sexual or dowry violence. I think it could all be coming from the Pak first lady herself.

SC turns death sentence to life imprisonment in terrorism case
[DAWN] The Supreme Court on Friday overturned the death sentence
...the barbaric practice of sentencing a murderer to be punished for as long as his/her/its victim is dead...
awarded to a murder convict by a trial court in 2007, converting the sentence into life imprisonment.

A three-member bench, headed by Chief Justice Asif Saeed Khosa and comprising Justice Sardar Tariq Masood and Justice Qazi Mohammad Amin, pronounced the verdict.

The convict, Karim Nawaz, was found guilty of murdering his sister, brother and a sister-in-law in Mianwali. A trial court had convicted Nawaz to death on three counts of murder and one count of terrorism.
How does a family squabble among primitives amount to "terrorism," which is directed against the state?
The convict had later reconciled with his family. Subsequently, the three convictions for murder were dropped by the trial court but the conviction for terrorism had been upheld.

On appeals, both the Lahore High Court and the apex court upheld the death sentence awarded on the basis of terrorism.

Arguing against converting the sentence, the additional prosecutor general said that the convict murdered three people and is now asking for relief.

To this, the chief justice said that it seems the crime was committed in a fit of temporary rage.

The bench then ruled to convert the death sentence into life imprisonment.

Nuggets from the Urdu Press
It’s been years since we’ve had nuggets. The little drawings at the link are just as fun as ever.
[THEFRIDAYTIMES] Treatment

According to Daily Express (04 June 2019), former Finance Minister Asad Umar opined that the PML-N government left the economy on its deathbed (bistar-e-marg par chorr kar gai thi) and that the process of healing it would be akin to that for a wound.

The Mufti weighs in

Mufti Naeem of Jamia Binoria, according to Daily Express (05 June 2019), demanded that Fawad Chaudhry be removed from his ministerial post. He expressed his view that we are required to celebrate Eid after sighting the requisite moon. Mufti Naeem went on to say that the 5-year calendar proposed by Fawad Chaudhry would not be acceptable and that science was subservient to Shariah (science shariat ke tabeh hai).

Beneficiaries

Daily Dunya (08 June 2019) reported that on the happy occasion of Eid the barbers, tailors and beggars were among the most successful collectors of Eidi money. Religious leaders at mosques and madrassahs also received large sums of money on the festival. One beggar was quoted as saying that price hikes had hit collections from Eidi.

PIA strikes again

A PIA flight that departed from Madinah and flew to Islamabad on the second day of Eid-ul-Fitr, according to Daily Express (08 June 2019), left the luggage of more than 50 passengers who had performed Umra. Passengers launched a protest on arrival at Islamabad’s airport.

Desperate measures

Daily Jang (08 June 2019) reported that a young man accused of bothering a woman via phone calls was lured into a trap by her husband. The young man then found his head and half his mustache shaved – in addition to having his face blackened and being paraded around the neighbourhood.

What the future holds

Manzoor Wissan of the PPP, known for his political predictions, according to Daily Jang (08 June 2019), claimed that PM Imran Khan’s government would not last until 2020 and that he would resign suddenly before this year’s end.

Advice

Railways Minister Sheikh Rasheed was quoted by Daily Jang (08 June 2019) as saying that the ruling PTI should not wash its dirty laundry publicly on the media, but that it ought to instead keep internal clashes to itself. He also predicted that the opposition’s “drama” would fall apart soon without affecting the PM and his administration. Rasheed also placed responsibility for the current price hikes on PML-N and PPP.

Saudi Arabia named full member of anti-illicit funding body
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
has been granted full membership of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), a global body dedicated to fighting illicit money flows, Saudi Arabia’s monetary authority said on Friday.

The Kingdom’s accession will be a boost to its standing with foreign investors.

"The Financial Action Task Force (FATF) Plenary Meeting, which was concluded on Friday, 21 June 2016, in Orlando, USA, granted the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia full Membership of the group," the authority said in a statement.

Saudi Arabia is the first Arab country to obtain membership, the statement added.

Palestinian Clan 'disowns' Son For Attending Bahrain Conference
[Jpost] The clan of a Paleostinian man from Jenin who reportedly agreed to attend next week’s US-led economic workshop in Bahrain has issued a statement "disowning" him and accusing him of collaboration with Israel.

The man, Mohammed Arif Masad, from the town of Burqin, 5 km west of Jenin, is reported to have moved to Israel two decades ago after being accused of collaboration with Israeli authorities.

The clan said in its statement that it cut its ties with Masad 20 years ago because he "deviated from the national line and the morals, values and traditions of his family."

The clan said that Masad represents only himself and pledged its full support for Paleostinian Authority President the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas
... a graduate of the prestigious unaccredited Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow with a doctorate in Holocaust Denial...
and the PLO for their "courageous stance against all those who are conspiring [against the Paleostinians] by attending suspicious conferences."

The Paleostinian ruling Fatah faction headed by Abbas published the family’s statement and photos of Masad on its official Facebook page.

If true, Masad will be the second Paleostinian to defy the Paleostinian call for boycotting the Bahrain workshop, which is expected to be launched in Bahrain on June 25.

Masad was suspected of collaboration with Israel during the first Intifada and was forced to flee his town, Paleostinian sources in Jenin told The Jerusalem Post. They claimed that the man has since been living in Israel.

Earlier, Ashraf Jabari, a businessman from Hebron, said he has accepted an invitation from the US administration to participate in the conference. Jabari said he will go to Bahrain as the representative of the Judea and Samaria Chamber of Commerce.

Also Friday, Paleostinian Chief Religious Justice Mahmoud Abbas, who also serves as adviser to Abbas, said that Paleostinians would rather die than accept being humiliated by Israel and the US.

Referring to the Bahrain conference, Habbash said at a Friday prayer sermon in Ramallah: "It is our duty to confront this conspiracy. We may disagree on many things, but the Paleostinians are united in rejecting this disgrace by Israel and the US."

Habbash claimed that the US was seeking to "bribe" the Paleostinians through the Bahrain conference.

"They are talking about billions of dollars to improve the economic conditions of the Paleostinian people," he said. "This is a bribe. They are offering us billions of dollars in return for making Jerusalem Israel’s capital and giving up the right of return for the refugees. They want to turn the Paleostinian cause into an issue of a people who just want to live, and not a people seeking dignity or freedom or illusory sovereignty."

Habbash scoffed at the US administration’s motto of "prosperity to peace" and accused the Americans of treating the Paleostinians with contempt.

"Which prosperity are they talking about?" he asked. "This is contempt for peace. This is a mockery of the Paleostinian people and their rights. They are ridiculing the blood of the deaders who sacrificed their lives for our cause. We will never betray their blood and sacrifices."

Nabil Abu Rudaineh, front man for the PA presidency, again lashed out at the Bahrain conference, dubbing it a "strategic mistake." He claimed that the conference was aimed at achieving normalization between Israel and the Arab states.

The conference, he said, was in the context of US "provocative steps that will aggravate tensions in the region."

Meanwhile,
...back at the railroad tracks, Little Nell tried to kick her bound feet and scream post the snotty handkerchief Scarface Al had stuff into her mouth...
Fatah and several Paleostinian factions repeated their appeal to Paleostinians to stage demonstrations in the West Bank to express their rejection of the Bahrain conference.

The protests will begin on June 24 and continue until the end of the conference two days later. The factions urged Paleostinians to "escalate confrontations" with the IDF during the mass protests.

Iraq
ISIS claims responsibility for fires on Syria-Iraq border
[Rudaw] Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) murderous Moslems burned lands of Sunni fighters and Yazidis in Nineveh, on the Iraqi border with Syria, in early June, the group said on Thursday. ISIS’ claim comes amid regular reports of fires spreading in areas with security vacuums.
Security vacuum - is that like an armed Roomba?
Go to your room, Frank G! That's absolutely dreadful!
The terrorist group announced in the 187 edition of al-Naba, their propaganda newsletter released on June 20, that their murderous Moslems "burned a number of crops of Hashd al-Ashairi", referring to Sunni members of the Iranian-backed Popular Mobilization Forces (PMFs), paramilitias founded five years ago to combat ISIS.

ISIS wrote that they started fires last week in the town of Rabia in Nineveh by planting improvised bombs (IEDs) on farms.

They also claimed to have "burned a fire truck and killed its driver and a number of Hashd [al-Shaabi] fighters", referring to the Arabic name for the PMFs.

After years of drought, Iraqi farmers had high hopes that the heavy rainfall in winter and spring would lend to a strong and profitable harvest season. However,
if you can't say something nice about a person some juicy gossip will go well...
these hopes for the harvest season have been marred by fires engulfing agricultural fields, with most people blaming ISIS for the flames.

Iraq’s harvest season began in April. Since then, crop fires have sprung up across the disputed areas between Erbil and Baghdad, including in Nineveh, Kirkuk , Saladin, and Diyala provinces.

Over 600 dunams of wheat fields in Khanaqin, Qaratapa, Jabara and the plains of Qamishalan were set ablaze in Diyala province within one week in May.

The head of the Kirkuk Agriculture Directorate, Zuhail Ali, told Rudaw English on June 15, that "8,500 dunams of land have burned across Kirkuk province.

Ali added that the sources of the blazes vary, ranging from unidentified perpetrators to electrical fires.

Adil Abdul-Mahdi, the Iraqi prime minister, has downplayed ISIS’ role in the fires.

"We have fires every year. Not all fires are the work of ISIS or hostility...some of them are internal feuds between landowners, between farmers," the Iraqi PM said last month, using the Arabic acronym for ISIS.

Hassan Ibrahim, deputy head of Iraqi Civil Defense General Directorate, told al-Mawsleya TV on June 18 that the fire incidents had been investigated and they had concluded that some of the blame lay with ISIS, but some cases were also because of a lack of awareness from farmers.

"There is also a shortcoming from the farmers. Farmers used to protect their lands as well as participate in trainings."

ISIS claimed in al-Naba last month that a "hot summer" is awaiting "the rejectionists and apostates," using two terms it often employs for Moslems who don’t adhere to the group’s interpretation of Islam.

US said readying to evacuate contractors from Iraqi base due to security threat UPDATE: US, Iraq deny
More on this from yesterday.
[IsraelTimes] US forces are preparing to evacuate nearly 400 contractors from the Balad military base over "potential security threats," three Iraqi military sources told the Rooters news agency on Friday.

The staff are working for Lockheed Martin Corp and Sallyport Global at the air base which houses US forces some 80 km (50 miles) north of Baghdad.

The sources did not give any further details about the security threats but said around half of the 800 contractors on site would be evacuated, with one saying the operation would take 10 days.

Two other military sources said the evacuation would use military aircraft.

US assets in Iraq have been targeted frequently over the past week amid a tense standoff between Baghdad’s key allies, Washington and Tehran.

Updates at 2:10 p.m. EDT:
US military denies evacuation of contractors from Iraq’s Balad Air Base

[Rudaw] Media claims that US contractors at Iraq’s Balad Air Base are being evacuated following recent mortar attacks are “categorically false”, a US military official said Saturday.

“Operations at Balad Air Base are continuing as normal. Claims that personnel are being evacuated are categorically false. There are no plans at this time to evacuate any personnel from Balad,” said US Air Force Colonel Kevin Walker in a statement.

“The safety and security of all Air Force personnel and those that provide services to the US Air Force are constantly evaluated, and should there be increased threats to our people, the US Air Force will put measures in place to provide the protections required,” Walker added.

“We are not evacuating Lockheed Martin employees right now from Balad Air Base,” a spokeswoman for Lockheed in the Middle East told Reuters. She did not say whether other evacuations were planned.

A top Iraqi air force commander, Gen. Falah Fares, told AP security has been stepped up and a curfew imposed at the base to reduce “all unnecessary movements”.

The mortar attack on Balad Air Base was followed on June 18 by a strike on Taji Military Base, which also hosts US personnel. Three Katyusha missiles struck the base, 85 km north of Baghdad, which is home to Iraq’s US-made F-16 fighter jets.

On May 19, a Katyusha rocket also struck Baghdad’s Green Zone, which houses the Iraqi parliament and the sprawling US Embassy compound.

Basra oil installations used by US oil giant ExxonMobil also come under rocket fire on June 19, injuring three Iraqi workers.

Several foreign ExxonMobil engineers were evacuated in May.

No one has claimed responsibility for the attacks, but Iran-backed Shiite militias are thought to be the culprits.

The US has already announced the evacuation all non-emergency staff from its diplomatic missions in Baghdad and Erbil in response to an unspecified Iranian threat.

Iraq denies evacuation of American trainers from Baghdad air base

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – Iraqi authorities denied on Saturday media reports that American trainers would be evacuated from an air base, north of the capital, Baghdad, over potential security threats.

In a press statement, Brig. Gen. Yahya Rasool, spokesman for the Joint Operations Command, stressed that all reports circulated on social media websites about the evacuation of U.S. contractors and security advisers from the Balad Air Base in Baghdad are “groundless”.

Rasool further added that Iraqi troops are responsible for “protecting all (U.S.) military bases and maintaining the safety of advisers.”

“We protect Iraqi military bases to ensure the safety of our fighters, as well as the safety of U.S. advisers and trainers, and other coalition forces,” the spokesman added.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Airlines Worldwide React to the U.S. Ban on Iranian Airspace
[Fortune] Early Friday morning, the Federal Aviation Administration banned all U.S.-registered aircraft from flying over Iranian airspace, and airlines worldwide are following the guidance.

The FAA warned of a "potential for miscalculation or misidentification" in the region after an Iranian surface-to-air missile on Thursday brought down an unmanned U.S. drone with a wingspan larger than a Boeing 737 jetliner.

Iran said the drone "violated" its territorial airspace, while the U.S. called the missile fire "an unprovoked attack" in international airspace over the Strait of Hormuz, the narrow mouth of the Persian Gulf.

There are "heightened military activities and increased political tensions in the region, which present an inadvertent risk to U.S. civil aviation operations and potential for miscalculation or misidentification," the FAA said.

The Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman are crucial areas for international air travel, and many global airlines are following the U.S. safety advice.

Lufthansa, Germany’s largest airline, said it had been avoiding the Strait of Hormuz and the Gulf of Oman since Thursday, but that it would continue to operate its flights to Tehran.

Dutch carrier KLM also said it would avoid the strait, calling the move a "precautionary measure," according to the Associated Press.

No sense giving the SOB's another Vincennes incident on the run-up to the election. The downing of a couple of European airliners by "unknown persons" would have been a severe blow and one the Iranians would have celebrated wildly as a strategic wedge. 'Human shields'...not exactly a new concept in that region of the world. The loss of life would have obviously meant nothing.

#8  180 million dollars is a lot to spend on what is basically a remote controlled airplane with a camera.

It's a purpose-built device - slow, steady, with an expensive as heck suite of cameras and sensors. The operational question, IMHO, is why it doesn't fly with some air-defense pals - purpose-built drones that are fast, maneuverable and highly lethal to flying things.

#9  It was built mostly to do what PBYs dis during WW II - fly long missions to spot enemy warships at sea. Of course, now it can have sensors that allow for other activities as well. The fact that it is designed to work with P-8s speaks to its primary mission.

Pentagon secretly struck back against Iranian cyberspies targeting U.S. ships
[Yahoo] On Thursday evening, U.S. Cyber Command launched a retaliatory digital strike against an Iranian spy group that supported last week’s limpet mine attacks on fat merchantmen, according to two former intelligence officials.

The group, which has ties to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, has over the past several years digitally tracked and targeted military and civilian ships passing through the economically important Strait of Hormuz, through which pass 17.4 million barrels of oil per day. Those capabilities, which have advanced over time, enabled attacks on vessels in the region for several years.

Though sources declined to provide any further details of the retaliatory cyber operation, the response highlights how the Persian Gulf has become a staging ground for escalating digital ‐ as well as conventional ‐ conflict, with both the United States and Iran
