Afghanistan
Local Elders Report Militant Presence North of Kabul City
[ToloNews] Influential figures from the Kohdaman region, which encompasses seven districts of Kabul province all north of the city, report the presence of Taliban
...Arabic for students...
and ISIS turbans in their area and attribute this to recent security incidents. Concern is growing among the people about safety, the elders said.

They said that the government’s inattention to the security of the Kohdaman region has made the area unsafe.

Seven districts of Kabul, including Mir Bacha Kot, Kalakan, Qara Bagh, Istalif, Guldara, Farza and Shakar Dara are known as the Kohdaman region.

The elders said that the Friday’s blast at a mosque in Shakardara, attacks on buses and trucks that travel on the Kabul-North highway, attacks on power pylons and a kaboom that targeted a bus carrying health workers have sparked rising concerns. Also, dozens of tankers were burned in fires in the Qala-e-Murad Bek area of Shakar Dara district this month.

They said the government's inattention to the area has allowed such activities by terrorist groups.

"We asked the central government many times, but it did not pay attention to the Kohdaman region," said Lotfullah, a former mujahedeen leader in Kohdaman.

"Bodies were found here. Their heads were chopped off. Journalists are the witnesses. We see that the government has ignored the north," said Mawlagul Rasikh, head of the Kabul youth council.

The residents of the region said that following the May 15 attack on a mosque in Shakar Dara district they started efforts to cooperate with security forces in arresting perpetrators. They said that after their mobilization, three people were arrested from the area by security forces on charges of ties with ISIS.

"So far we have not received reports about whether it has been done by ISIS, Talib or the Haqqani network
...a branch of the Afghan Taliban, based in Pakistain. The network is a family business founded by the later Jalaluddin Haqqani...
," said Mohammad Gawhar Baburi, the district governor of Shakar Dara.

Security agencies confirmed to TOLOnews the presence of Taliban and ISIS and other "destructive" groups in the region, but some sources say other groups have been activated in Shakar Dara and Guldara districts where they only focus on destroying and damaging electricity pylons.

"Some irresponsible people misuse the situation to destroy power pylons," said Mir Naeem Haidari, a close aide to former mujahedeen leader Mir Amanullah Guzar.

"Some groups might be behind this (power pylon destruction). Some elders from Kohdaman or those who have an interest in such violence might have a hand in such matters," said Sayed Fakhruddin Hashimi, a resident of the Kohdaman region.

Areas north of Kabul were the most secure in recent years, but in less than a month the area has witnessed attacks on two passengers’ buses, many assassinations, two attacks on fuel truck tankers, a blast at a mosque and the destruction of at least 10 power pylons.

Taliban demolishes bridge, launches offensive in Herat province
[KhaamaPress] Local officials said that Taliban

launched attacks on Obe district in western Herat

province.

Waheed Qatali Herat’s governor said Tuesday that the Taliban launched their attacks by demolishing a bridge that connected Obe district with other parts of the Herat province.

Following the destruction of the bridge Taliban attacked government security positions in the region, Qatali said.

The bridge was blown up on Tuesday morning causing transportation problems for the people in Obe district.

Qatali added that the Talibs think by wrecking the bridge they would make it difficult for security forces to get supplies.

According to the provincial governor, three Taliban fighters including their commander were also killed during the ongoing festivities, and it is the Taliban’s first group attack after three days of Eid’s ceasefire.

Taliban so far did not comment on the attack.

This comes as President Ashraf Ghani
...former chancellor of Kabul University, now president of Afghanistan. Before returning to Afghanistan in 2002 he was a scholar of political science and anthropology. He worked at the World Bank working on international development assistance. As Finance Minister of Afghanistan between July 2002 and December 2004, he led Afghanistan's attempted economic recovery until the Karzais stole all the money...
on Monday in an interview with PBS News stressed if the Taliban needs peace, they should respect the gains over decades and foremost women’s rights.

The Taliban are not holding territories in the provinces despite their efforts to capture, President Ghani said, the bully boyz carrying sporadic attacks makes them a destructive force.

"Arghandab was the only district in Kandahar where they tried to hold. And now the people hate them with passion," President Ghani said.

President Ghani reiterated that the key to political settlement is that the Taliban should accept Afghanistan’s political system is based on elections.

"That is the fundamental bottom line. Other things are discussible, negotiable. But if that fundamental issue is not granted, then the question of rights and the question of gains that have occurred in the last 20 years, particularly vis-a-vis women, youth, minorities, all walks of life, will be put into question", the President explained.

President Ghani also mentioned that if there is war, he is not willing to step down but will only hand over the power to an elected successor.

"If there is war, I am the commander in chief. I will not abandon my people. I will not abandon my forces. I am willing to die for my country. I have no interest in power. I’m committed to the principle of ensuring order. Afghan society wants order" he said.

He further elaborated saying terrorism has not completely disappeared from Afghanistan and it has changed, these terrorist networks are not only from the region but from 16 different countries and are trying to return to Afghanistan with their families.

Iraq
Turkey kills senior PKK commander: Erdogan
[Rudaw] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor...
claimed to have killed a senior Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) commander in an operation in the Kurdistan Region.

Ottoman Turkish President His Enormity, Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
...Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey. In Anatolia did Recep Bey a stately Presidential Palace decree, that has 1100 rooms. That's 968 more than in the White House, 400 more than in Versailles, and 325 more than Buckingham Palace, so you know who's really more important...
announced on Monday that forces had killed Sofi Nurettin, who led the PKK’s operations in Syria.

Erdogan accused Nurettin of ordering the killing of "13 innocent people during the Gara operation," and said he was responsible for several attacks on the Ottoman Turkish army during Euphrates Shield and Olive Branch operations in Syria.

In February, 13 people were killed during a Ottoman Turkish operation against the PKK on the Kurdistan Region’s Mount Gara. Twelve were members of the Ottoman Turkish security forces being held hostage by the PKK. The thirteenth was a Kurd from Duhok. The PKK and the Ottoman Turkish army both blame the other for their deaths.

Nurettin’s activities in both the Kurdistan Region and Syria confirm Turkey’s allegation that Kurdish organizations in northeastern Syria are part of the PKK, Erdogan said.

"The situation of Sofi Nurettin, who was neutralized, revealed that it is impossible to deny the fact that the PKK/KCK (the PKK’s political umbrella organization) and the PYD (Democratic Union Party)/YPG (People’s Protection Units) are the same organization," he said.

The operation that killed Nurettin was jointly conducted by Turkey’s military and intelligence directorate.

The PKK has not immediately issued a statement.

Nurettin assumed command of the PKK’s armed wing, the People's Defence Forces (HPG), in 2009, taking over from Bahoz Erdal. In a 2011 interview, he took a defiant stance, saying the PKK was ready to fight for years in the mountains.

"This is the last battle of Erdogan and his government. Kurdistan will entomb Erdogan in this war," he said.

In late April, Turkey launched Operations Claw-Lightning and Claw-Thunderbolt against the PKK in areas of northern Duhok, near the border. A goal of the operation is to establish a military base to block PKK movements between the Kurdistan Region and Turkey and Syria.

Turkey has announced the death of nine soldiers and the PKK says they have lost 18 fighters since the operations began.

Two ISIS militants arrested crossing border from Syria: Iraqi security media cell
[Rudaw] Iraqi forces arrested two Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) holy warriors crossing the border from Syria, one of whom committed crimes against Yazidis, Iraq’s security media cell announced on Monday.

The ISIS holy warriors were detected with thermal cameras crossing the border from Syria into Iraq, the security media cell said.

One of them was responsible for planting booby-traps in the town of Baaj in Nineveh province, and the other was a so-called leader of raid forces and "participated in the captivity of the Yazidis," it added.

In other action against the terror group, Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
s targeted tunnels used by ISIS holy warriors south of the bucolic provincial capital of djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
, the cell said on Sunday.

Shingal, the heartland of Iraq’s Yazidi ethnoreligious minority, was overrun by ISIS in August 2014. Thousands were summarily executed, and more than 6,000 kidnapped and sold as slaves. More than 2,000 remain missing, according to the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Office for Rescuing Kidnapped Yazidis.

The crimes against Yazidis have been recognized by many states as genocide.

Despite coordination and cooperation between the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Iraqi army to carry out military operations on the Syria-Iraq border and capture ISIS remnants, the terror group has been able to smuggle fighters and weapons through the border in recent years.

Nineveh province lies across the border from Syria’s Hasaka and Deir ez-Zor provinces, both of which are vulnerable to ISIS attacks. The group is particularly active in Deir ez-Zor, where members of the Kurdish-led SDF are often targeted.

The SDF carried out an operation to capture ISIS holy warriors on the Iraq-Syria border last week.

In February, security forces said nearly 100 ISIS holy warriors had entered crossed the border into Nineveh province in the space of one week.

#1  They've been doing this for days — protest on the Lebanese side of the border in solidarity while the Lebanese army tries to keep them away from the fence, then shoot off a few rockets to underline their feelings on the matter. Hezbollah is terrified Israel will take the drama seriously, landing them in a war they are absolutely not ready for, no matter the 100,000 or so rockets and missiles they have stored in civilian cellars through out the region — and that was before Israel revealed the tunnel complex they dug between Beirut and three miles from the Israeli border.

2 soldiers shot in West Bank, 3 Palestinians killed by gunfire amid unrest
[IsraelTimes] Troops hospitalized with leg wounds; source of shooting that killed two demonstrators unclear; festivities also break out in Jerusalem.

Two Israeli soldiers were maimed by gunfire on Tuesday near the West Bank settlement of Beit El, as thousands of Paleostinians violent mostly peacefully rioted at the entrance to the nearby city of Ramallah and throughout the West Bank.

The Israel Defense Forces said troops had returned fire toward the source of the attack from within the demonstration after the two soldiers were hit by gunfire, but could not immediately comment on Paleostinian casualties.

Hamas says it targeted air force bases in barrages toward south, central Israel
[IsraelTimes] IDF says no hits reported in airfields; Israeli border towns see 3-hour overnight lull between attacks, Israeli jets hit dozens of targets in Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamaswith about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
as fighting enters 10th day.

Gaza terror groups fired several rocket barrages at southern and central Israel late Tuesday and early Wednesday, with Hamas, a regional Iranian catspaw, claiming it targeted Israeli Air Force bases during the strikes.

Red alert sirens went off throughout Gaza border towns, in the southern coastal cities of Ashdod and Ashkelon and in central towns as far north as Rehovot and Palmachim and in a number of air bases in between.

"The bases that the Al Qassam Brigades targeted are Hatzor, Hatzerim, Nevatim, Tel Nof, Palmachim, and Ramon," Hamas said in a statement.

Israel Defense Forces Spokesperson Hidai Zilberman on Wednesday morning said the military had no indications that a rocket struck any of its air bases. In one case, a projectile landed in an open field well outside the Tel Nof Air Base near Rehovot, he said.

Hamas’s publicly announced attack on Israeli airbases potentially indicated an effort by the group to deflect criticism from the US and other world leaders for wantonly targeting Israeli civilian populations in clear violation of international law. However,
some people cause happiness wherever they go; others whenever they go...
Hamas also fired toward towns overnight Tuesday-Wednesday where no IAF bases are located. According to Zilberman, rockets have been fired toward IAF bases throughout the operation.

There were no reports of damage or injuries from the rocket fire that began at around 8 p.m. and continued past 2 a.m., with many of the projectiles being intercepted by the Iron Dome missile defense system. Gaza border towns had a three-hour respite from rocket fire from 2:30 to 5:30 a.m., as has been the norm for that overnight period during the past several days.

But on the other side of the Gaza border, IDF jets operated the entire night, striking dozens of targets throughout the Strip, according to the Hamas-affiliated Paleostinian Media Center, which published pictures and footage of the bombing.

The news outlet said several Paleostinians were killed and a larger number were maimed, though the Gaza health ministry did not immediately provide an update with exact figures.

According to Zilberman, the IDF believes it killed at least 10 members of the Hamas and Paleostinian Islamic Jihad
...created after many members of the Egyptian Moslem Brotherhood decided the organization was becoming too moderate. Operations were conducted out of Egypt until 1981 when the group was exiled after the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. They worked out of Gaza until they were exiled to Lebanon in 1987, where they clove tightly to Hezbollah. In 1989 they moved to Damascus, where they remain a subsidiary of Hezbollah...
terror groups in its overnight strikes in the cities of Khan Younis and Rafah in southern Gaza.

In one round of strikes on Tuesday night, more than 50 Israeli Air Force jets using over 120 bombs struck an underground tunnel network in southern Gaza, destroying some 12 kilometers (7.5 miles) of it over the course of 25 minutes, according to the IDF front man.

This was the fifth round of Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
s that the IDF has carried out against Hamas’s sprawling subterranean complex, which Israel refers to as "the metro."

The IDF late Tuesday said its strikes targeted six rocket launching sites as well as a Hamas terror cell firing mortars at Israel from inside a school in Gaza.

The incident "proves again how the Hamas terror group purposefully places its military assets in the heart of the civilian population," the army said.

Hamas has launched nearly 3,700 rockets at Israel since May 10, often forcing people living by Gaza into bomb shelters around the clock.

Israel’s near-relentless bombing campaign in response has sent fireballs, debris and black smoke into the sky, leaving two million Paleostinians in Gaza desperate for reprieve.

The humanitarian crisis has deepened in the impoverished strip, with the UN saying 72,000 Paleostinians have been displaced.

Paleostinians across the West Bank and in Israeli-annexed east Jerusalem mobilized Tuesday for protests and a general strike that shuttered non-essential businesses, in support of those under bombardment in Gaza.

As the sides entered their 10th day of fighting on Wednesday, Gaza’s Hamas-run Health Ministry updated the corpse count in the Strip to 217, including more than 63 children. It was not immediately clear if this ministry tally included all of those killed or if there were Hamas operatives not included in the count.

According to the IDF, more than 120 of those killed were members of Hamas and over 25 were members of the Paleostinian Islamic Jihad as of Monday night.

The Hamas-run ministry said that over 1,400 Gazooks had been injured since the start of what the IDF has billed Operation Guardian of the Walls.

Twelve people in Israel, including a 5-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl, have been killed in rocket fire, and hundreds have been injured over the past ten days.

The most recent casualties came on Tuesday afternoon when two Thai workers were killed in a packing house that took a direct hit from Hamas mortar fire. The two men in their 30s were not immediately identified. Eight others were inured, including one seriously, in the attack on a community close to the border.

IDF says it bombed 120 Gaza terror targets in 24 hours

[IsraelTimes] The Israel Defense Forces says it has bombed 120 targets in the Gazoo Strip over the past 24 hours, including 10 rocket launchers.

According to IDF Spokesperson Hidai Zilberman, many of the strikes were conducted in the affluent Rimal neighborhood of Gaza City, home to many Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, leaders.

Zilberman says the IDF has an "intensive night ahead of us," as it prepares to strike "new locations" and to continue targeting Hamas’s sprawling underground tunnel network, which Israel refers to as "the metro." IDF jets have bombed various parts of this subterranean passage complex every night for the past four nights, destroying more than 120 kilometers (75 miles) of tunnels.

Israel seeks to kill Dief, strike Hamas as world pushes for ceasefire
[JPost] Israel plans to continue Operation Guardian of the Walls in order to strike at more high-quality Hamas terror targets, even as the US, EU and others pushed for a ceasefire.

Among those targets is Hamas’s Qassam Brigades commander Mohammed Deif, who the IDF believes it has a chance of killing if the operation continues. Military sources told The Jerusalem Post that Dief had been targeted more than once during the last week of fighting but that he had succeeded at the last moment to get away

Defense Minister Benny Gantz said in a phone call with US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin on Tuesday that Operation Guardian of the Walls will continue until Hamas is deterred for the long term.

"The IDF’s military campaign will continue to the end of achieving long-term quiet," Gantz said, pointing out to Austin that Hamas continues to fire rockets at civilian populations.

Netanyahu similarly said during a visit to the IAF base in Hatzerim that "we will continue as long as necessary to bring the quiet back to the citizens of Israel."

"I am sure that all the enemies around us see how costly it is to attack us, and I am sure they will learn the lesson," he added.

Gantz and Netanyahu’s remarks came as the US continued diplomatic efforts to bring about a ceasefire. Also on Tuesday, the EU Foreign Affairs Council held a meeting on the situation in Israel and Gaza, failing to produce a consensus statement calling for a ceasefire.

A senior official in Jerusalem said that, while the IDF has had major successes in striking Hamas, it has many more targets it wants to hit.

"When this ends, we want Hamas to have taken a really serious blow," the official said, adding that Operation Guardian of the Walls will continue "as long as we think we can inflict more serious punishment on Hamas and degrade their capabilities."

Its seems the MSM only wants the IDF to cease fire when Israel is Kicking A$$.

Otherwise the MSM seems to condone and bury any PLO/HAMAS terrorist attack on Israeli citizens.

Question: How many times have you heard the term Islamic-phobia vs. Jewish-phobia in the MSM? Would you say MSM is at least a little one sided?

IRAN likely knows Israel's idea of a "Final Solution" means Israel sending NUKES. An IRAN also knows most of the world would be quietly happy with that. Including many Middle East nations that IRAN has been sending Radicalized Islamic terrorists into to spread its hate.

Israel will never have peace until it Wipes Out those that refuse to allow its peaceful existence as a nation.

#5  Israel probably regards Deif the way the US regarded bin Laden.

I think that is a mistake.

At some point the terrorist icon becomes a net liability to his organization. More people need to be assigned to protect him, take care of his medical needs, hide all the protectors, manage the payroll, etc.

Bid Laden's death probably accelerated the rise of ISIS.

The moment a Hamas 'suicide submarine' is obliterated in Gaza by an Israeli airstrike as Netanyahu defies Biden's calls for a ceasefire and IDF says it has killed 150 terrorists on ninth day of conflict
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news]
  • Video taken from the air by Israeli aircraft shows two missiles smashing into the vessel in quick succession as a huge explosion erupts in shallow waters close to a tower block in northern Gaza on Monday

  • Another clip then shows a car being tracked by overhead cross hairs before it is rocked by a blast which brings it to a swift and fiery halt, the men inside had been attempting to operate the submarine

  • The Israeli Defence Forces did not specify what Hamas were planning to target with their explosive-laden submarine but they have previously fired rockets at naval vessels and oil rigs in the Mediterranean

  • The IDF announced 65 Hamas targets were hit by air strikes last night as Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to 'continue striking the terrorists' despite Joe Biden's calls for ceasefire amid a rising civilian death toll

  • A total of 212 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza, including 61 children, since last Monday. The IDF says that figure includes 120 members of Hamas and 25 members of Palestinian Islamic Jihad

Was going to use a parallel example.

"If Washington DC was being attacked, would Biden heed calls for a cease fire?"

But then I realized he would just send them a plane full of $$$$ and move the US Capital to either Portland, Seattle, Chicago, Minneapolis or Beijing.

5 Protesters Hurt on Lebanon-Israel Border as Hundreds March in Beirut
[AnNahar] Scores of Paleostinians and Lebanese protesting along the Lebanese border with Israel threw rocks and climbed the cement wall snaking around the frontier on Tuesday, drawing tear gas and smoke bombs from Israeli forces.

Leb
...an Iranian colony situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozeen flavors of Christians. It is the home of Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers...

...Party of God, a Leb militia inspired, founded, funded and directed by Iran. Hizbullah refers to itself as The Resistance and purports to defend Leb against Israel, with whom it has started and lost one disastrous war to date, though it did claim victory...
It was the fifth straight day of protests along the border as support for the Paleostinians swelled against an Israeli military campaign in the Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks.
Strip.

Hundreds of protesters also marched in Lebanon's capital on Tuesday in support of Gaza, which has been under Israeli Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
s since last week. The march went from Beirut's refugee camp of Mar Elias toward the city center.

On Monday, rockets fired from Lebanon fell inside Lebanese territory.

Last week, the Israeli army shot and killed one protester along the border. Hizbullah later identified the young man killed as one of its supporters.

Clan fighting in Syria's Deir ez-Zor leaves casualties
[NPASYRIA] On Tuesday, a clan fighting erupted in the northern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria, killing two civilians.

The two young men, Abdulrahman al-Heroubi and Ismail al-Heroubi were killed due to a clan fighting in the villages of Sabiha of the town of al-Suwar, 50 km north of Deir ez-Zor, a local source said.

The reason of the fighting is an old Dire Revenge between the families of al-Kabisa and al-Hathal, the source added.

During the fighting which lasted for 6 hours, machine guns were used, which led the Syrian Democratic Forces to interfere, set checkpoints between the two parties and impose a cordon in the village, according to the source.

Towns of the Deir ez-Zor countryside are known of their clan character, where there is always fighting between the clans in the region.

A month ago, a civilian was killed due to a clan fighting in the town of Garanij in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor

'Hope is in Work' Assad's election campaign banner
"Arbeit macht change you can believe in!"
[NPASYRIA] On Monday, residents of Damascus believed that the campaign’s slogan of the Syrian Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Terror of Aleppo ...
of the presidential election is not consistent with the difficult conditions that the Syrians are experiencing in various regions and provinces.

The electoral campaigns officially started on May 16 and will continue until May 24.

Under the theme "Hope is in Work", Assad has started his electoral campaign, which is facing rejection by the international community.

FLOWERY SLOGANS
Haytham al-Ali, a pseudonym for a university professor residing in Mezze, Damascus, considered that Assad’s slogan does not correspond to the tragedy the Syrians are experiencing in various Syrian regions, especially those loyal to the government.

"Al-Assad used to choose embellished vocabulary in his official and unofficial speeches, as these vocabulary and phrases cannot be used in politics," al-Ali said.

"However,
some men learn by reading. A few learn by observation. The rest have to pee on the electric fence for themselves...
al-Assad plays the role of a delicate poet when it comes to addressing the group loyal to him, most of which are simple people, who are convinced by his words after he tickles their feelings without offering them any tangible achievement," he added.

The Election Day is slated for May 20 for the Syrians abroad, and May 26 for the Syrians inside the country.

CONSTITUTIONAL VIOLATION
Bashir al-Assad and the two other candidates run for the presidential elections.

His two competitors, Mahmoud Mur’i and Abdullah Salloum Abdullah have started their campaign under different banners.

For Abdullah, he started his campaign under the banner "Our Strength lies in Our Unity."

As for Mur’i, the third candidate, he started his campaign with a prominent slogan "Together Towards a Participatory National Unity Government."

Ilham al-Khen, a pseudonym for a lawyer residing in Rukn al-Din neighborhood of Damascus, said that the Syrian president has started his electoral campaign since the beginning of May, and this is a violation to the constitution.

Al-Khen believed that the banner "Hope is in Work" is not suitable for politicians, but rather for charities or volunteer teams that carry out a specific activity."

"From the Assad slogan, we clearly see that there is no significant change that will happen to the living and political situation of the country, because such a slogan is tantamount to continuing to despise the simple Syrians without any clear vision," she added.

"Through his media, Assad is talking about an expected Saudi-Gulf openness to his government to delude that there is a political and economic breakthrough that the country will witness, and many of his loyalists believe in this," according to al-Khen.

EMPTY CONTENT
Kholoud al-Tahhan, a pseudonym for a Damascus-based journalist, considered that the slogan of the election campaign for Assad is empty.

She believed that the current tragedy in Syria will continue under the authority of this mentality that Assad inherited from his father.

Al-Tahhan did not conceal her conviction that Assad would win this election, which she described as formal in light of the absence of any signs that indicate the integrity of the election.

"There is no doubt that Syria is heading towards an unknown fate in light of the Syrian regime’s insistence on continuing its unilateral approach in the absence of a real opposition expressing the Syrians’ aspirations for freedom, dignity and a democratic life," she stated.

Al-Tahhan suggested that the upcoming presidential election will face the lowest turnout witnessed by the election since Bashir al-Assad took over.

Gang raped young woman in Syrian opposition's prison
[NPASYRIA] Members of a pro-Ottoman Turkish armed opposition group raped a young woman, in her twenties, in the city of Tel Abyad, northeast Syria.

Local sources told North Press that the 20-year-old young woman, who comes from the city of Raqqa, was subjected to gang rape in the prisons of the military police of the armed opposition throughout her detention.

The young woman was kidnapped in Tel Abyad while trying to cross the border coming from The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

to visit her family in Raqqa three months ago, and she was arrested on charges of dealing with the Syrian Democratic Forces.

According to opposition media, the young woman was married to a Ottoman Turkish citizen in the city of Urfa, before getting divorced in 2020, which caused her psychological problems.

The sources indicated that after she entered Tel Abyad, she contacted her mother and told her that she was prevented from going to Raqqa under the pretext that the road between the two cities was closed, in addition to preventing her from returning to Turkey.

After three months of arrest, the judge of the court ordered the release of the girl, as there was no charge against her.

The Ottoman Turkish-backed armed opposition groups have controlled the city of Tel Abyad since late 2019 after the Ottoman Turkish invasion, which caused the displacement of tens of thousands of local residents, according to human rights
