The attack was carried out by a group of at least three suicide bombers and as a result at least five people have been killed.
Security sources confirm that five people including two coppers and three suicide bombers were killed in the attack.
The sources further added that the attack was carried out in Spin Boldak district at around 7:30 pm local time.
According to the security officials, a suicide bomber initially detonated his explosives near the residence of Gen. Raziq that sparked a clash between the remaining attackers and the police forces.
No individual or group has so far grabbed credit behind the attack.
The security situation in southern Kandahar province has started to deteriorate during the recent months after the security situation had relatively improved during the recent years.
Gen. Abdul Raziq, the provincial police chief, said Saturday's evening attack targeted his house in the Spin Boldak district but that he was not home at the time, and was followed by a shootout.
Raziq added that two other attackers were later shot and killed by police forces during a shootout in which one policeman was also maimed.

According to the provincial government, all ten kidnapped civilians have been rescued safely and have returned to their homes.
At least two of the hostages were released on the same day they were kidnapped while three others were rescued on Wednesday, the statement added.
The provincial government also added that five others were rescued on Thursday.
The local officials are saying that the ISIS hard boyz are attempting to spark fear among the local residents by kidnapping ordinary civilians.
The anti-government armed holy warrior and terrorist groups including ISIS Lions of Islam have not commented regarding the report so far.

The 209th Shaheen Corps of the Afghan Military in the North said at least seven bandidosgunnies were killed and seven others were maimed during the operations.

[DAWN] Chief of Army Staff Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa ratified death sentences handed down to 11 holy warriors and prison sentences given to three others, an Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) blurb said on Saturday.
The convicts, who were tried by special military courts, were found guilty of attacks on the army, law enforcement agencies, academic institutions including Malakand University and the murder of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) MPA Imran Khan Mohmind and other civilians.
"On the whole, [the convicts] were involved in the killing of 60 persons including 36 civilians, 24 armed forces/Frontier Constabulary/police officials and injuring 142 others," the statement read.
All 14 convicts, who were members of proscribed organizations, admitted their offences before a magistrate and the trial court, and were subsequently awarded death sentences, the military's media wing said.

[DAWN] Three suspected bandidosforces of Evil and a civilian were killed in a shootout on Saturday in Srinagar in India-held Kashmire, police said, the first in the restive region's main city this year.
The three men believed to be bandidosforces of Evil died in a shootout after government forces surrounded a densely populated neighbourhood in the old part of the city, director general of police Shesh Paul Vaid said.
A young man also died after he was hit by an armoured vehicle as hundreds of residents tried to help the rebels escape from the military cordon in the heart of Srinagar, a police officer told AFP on condition of anonymity.
A paramilitary trooper was injured during the exchange of fire.

Anbar (IraqiNews.com) Two Iraqi soldiers were wounded in a blast caused by remnants of war against Islamic State members, west of Anbar, a security source said on Saturday.
“A landmine, from the remnants of war against Islamic State, went off as a military vehicle was passing by the Iraqi-Syrian borders in Dor al-Sikak region in Qaim town, west of Anbar. Two soldiers were wounded,” the source from Anbar Operations Command told BasNews.
Speaking on condition of anonymity, the source added, “security troops headed to the accident spot and started combing the region fearing further blasts.”
The western regions, especially Qaim, Rawa, Rutba and the border areas near Syria, “contain many landmines and war remnants that left many civilians and security personnel killed and injured,” the source added.
Anbar (IraqiNews.com) Two people were wounded as a bomb blast took place in west of Anbar, a police source from the province said on Friday.
“A bomb, placed on the side on the road that leads to Rawa city, west of Anbar, went off leaving two civilians wounded,” the source told Almaalomah website, saying they were transferred to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The bomb, according to the source, “was from the remnants of war against Islamic State militant while they were in control of the city.”
Security troops “closed the entrances and exits of the blast and started combing the region fearing other blasts,” the source added.
Anbar (IraqiNews.com) Security source from the pro-government paramilitary troops in Anbar province have indicated presence of Islamic State members disguised in shepherds clothes in the northern regions of Ramadi city.
Speaking to Almaalomah website, the source said, “information from the intelligence has revealed presence of some IS members, who move between Wadi al-Hadar region to Therthara lake and al-Dawajin region, north of Ramadi. They are disguised in clothes of shepherds.”
The militants, according to the source, “depend in gathering information about the security personnel on families of IS members who live there.”
The source also added that the militants “plan for terrorist operations against the security troops there.”

[Ynet] Explosion rocks Deir al-Balah in central Gazoo; 4 of 6 victims members of Hamas's military wing, per Paleostinian reports; military wing blames Israel for blast, calls it 'deplorable Zionist crime'; IDF disavows responsibility.
Six Paleostinians were killed Saturday evening in an kaboom in the city of Deir al-Balah in the central Gazoo strip. Four of the casualties belonged to Hamas, one of the armed feet of the Moslem Brüderbung millipede,'s military wing.
Gazoo media reported the kaboom was a "work accident," meaning the bad boyz were potted when explosives they were dealing with went off.
While Paleostinians searched the area for survivors, Hamas's military wing blamed Israel for the blast, calling the incident in a statement a "deplorable Zionist crime" perpetrated against its fighters.
"During a complicated security and intelligence operation conducted by Qassam Brigades to investigate a serious and a grave security incident conducted by the Zionist enemy against Paleostinian resistance, a deplorable crime took place against our Mujahideen in the area of Zawayda in central Gazoo Strip," it said.
Hamas provided no further details.
One of the victims of the kaboom, as per Paleostinian reports, was a commander of an engineering unit in the central strip division, while another was a communications commander for the same division.
A Gazoo source told Ynet, meanwhile, that the casualties were members of an engineering group that attempted to dismantle an Israeli rocket that had not detonated. As they were working to defuse it, it went off, he added.
The blast rocked Gazoo near 7:30pm, with Rooters television capturing a pillar of smoke rising above the village of Zawayda near the coast of Gazoo, far from the border with Israel where tensions have escalated in recent weeks.
Denying any culpability for the kaboom and consequent deaths, "The IDF is not involved in this incident in any way," a military front man said.
The Ynet news site, quoting sources in Gazoo, said the men, including senior members of the Hamas military wing, had been trying to dismantle an old Israeli missile that had failed to explode.
The health ministry said several bodies had been brought to a local hospital. It identified the dead as Taher Essam Shahin, 29, Wissam Ahmed, 37,Musa Ibrahim Salman 30, Mahmoud Walid, 34, Mahmoud Mohammed al-Touashi, 27, and Mahmoud Saeed Hilmi al-Qshahawi 27. It called them all "deaders."

[IsraelTimes] Footage released by the Israeli army shows young children near border, also apparently injured youth carried on stretcher, then getting off unharmed
The Israeli army on Saturday night published video clips from demonstrations by Gazooks at the border which it said showed protesters faking injury in order to manipulate world opinion, and using young children at the forefront of border riots.
In one clip released by the IDF, Gazook youths are shown rushing a seemingly injured youth toward safety on a stretcher through clouds of smoke and dust. Toward the end of the clip, however, the youth appears to fall off or get off the stretcher, and then gets to his feet, now seeming quite unharmed.
"Throughout Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth",’s activity, fake injuries and the exploitation of women and kiddies are rampant," the IDF said in a tweet.
"This was all intended to disguise terror activity, including hurling explosives & grenades, attempted infiltrations, & burning Israeli land."
In a second clip, very young children are seen at the protests, rolling tires, and standing close to older Paleostinian youths; the IDF alleges that Gazooks are deliberately placing young kids near to rioters, as human shields.
Border riots continued at the weekend for a sixth week.
In another incident elsewhere along the border, around 15 people broke through the border to the Israeli side of the security fence. The Gazooks celebrated, and one wearing a Guy Fawkes mask and brandishing a butcher’s knife jumped up and down while crying "Allahu Akbar."
After a short time the protesters were spotted by Israeli troops, and ran back into Gazoo.
The army said in a statement that the Gazooks were identified by soldiers monitoring the border and a patrol was dispatched to the scene. Soldiers fired tear gas at the infiltrators and forced them back over the border.
On Saturday, the army said troops identified several Paleostinians who breached the border and placed Molotov cocktails near the security fence in the south of the Strip before returning to Gazoo. In a second incident soldiers fired at a group of Paleostinians who attempted to sabotage the fence in southern Gazoo, and they retreated.
[ENGLISH.ALMANAR.LB] The third batch of snuffies was evacuated from towns of Yalda, Babila and Beit Sahem in southern Damascus on Saturday, local media reported.
SANA news agency said that 63 buses carrying the 3rd batch of snuffies and their families exited from the three towns on Saturday.
The buses exited from the three towns via Beit Sahem corridor after they have been thoroughly inspected to be gathered and then transported at once towards Idlib and Jarablus under the supervision of the Syrian Arab Red Islamic Thingy (SARC), according to Syrian agency.
More buses entered via Beit Sahem corridor to the three towns to be prepared for exit on Sunday to northern Syria, SANA added.
During the past two days, 46 buses carrying hundreds of snuffies and their families exited from the three towns to move towards northern Syria in the framework of an agreement between the Syrian government and terrorists.
The deal stipulates for evacuating the snuffies and their families who want to leave for North Syria while for settling the legal status of those who want to stay after handing over their weapons.

SANA news agency reported that army units liberated the southern part of al-Hajar al-Asawd neighborhood after eliminating the last terrorists’ gatherings and inflicting terrorists’ heavy losses upon their ranks and equipment.
