During the invasions of Alexander the Great, the area was known as Lampaka, wich is apparently Olde Macedonian for Laghman. The city of Mihtarlam serves as the bucolic capital of the province. The population is half Pashtun, the remainder Tadjik and Pashai. It had a repution for great wealth until it was conquered in the tenth century by Abu Mansur Sabuktigin.
He conquered it and set fire to the places in its vicinity which were inhabited by infidels, and demolishing the idol-temples, he established Islam in them, He marched and captured other cities and killed the polluted wretches, destroying the idolatrous and gratifying the Musulmans. After wounding and killing beyond all measure, his hands and those of his friends became cold in counting the value of the plundered property.

Sudan increases Darfur joint security force to 20,000 troops
[Sudan Tribune] Sudan’s peace partners have agreed to increase Darfur joint force to 20,000 troops and to establish rapid reaction units to preserve security in the restive region.Hadi Idris (ST photo)On 10 April, the Security and Defence Council (SDC) decided to deploy joint forces including former rebels as agreed in the peace deal even if these troops have not yet been fully prepared, as a result of the surge in inter-communal violence in Darfur.

Hadi Idris, Transitional Sovereign Council Member and leader of the Sudanese Revolutionary Front told the Sudan Tribune on Saturday that the decision to increase the joint security forces was also approved in this meeting

The Council decided to increase the joint forces in Darfur from 12,000 to 20,000 troops. The armed struggle forces will participate with 8000 combatants while the government will provide 12,0000 soldiers," Idris said.

The decision came in the wake of the recent deadly tribal violence in El Geneina, West Darfur state. over 144 people were killed other 221 injured.

He further said the lack of money delayed the implementation of the security arrangements including the formation of the joint security forces.

"The forces need training, fuel, food, drink and equipment. and there is no funding for these needs, he added.

The head of the Sovereign Council Abdel Fattah al-Burhan on Thursday made similar statements to explain the delay in the enforcement of the security arrangements.

Khartoum, ICC Agree to Try Bashir
[ENGLISH.AAWSAT] Head of Sudan’s Sovereign Council Abdel-Fattah al-Burhan has revealed an agreement between Khartoum and the International Criminal Court (ICC) to try ousted Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir
...Former President-for-Life of Sudan He came to power in 1989 when he, as a brigadier in the Sudanese army, led a group of officers in a bloodless military coup that ousted the government of Prime Minister Sadiq al-Mahdi and eventually appointed himself head cheese. He fell out with his Islamic mentor, Hasan al-Turabi, tried to impose shariah on the Christian and animist south, resulting in its secessesion, and attempted to Arabize Darfur by unleashing the barbaric Janjaweed on it. Sudan's potential prosperity has been pissed away in warfare that has left as many as 400,000 people dead and 2.5 million displaced. Hee was overthrown by popular consent in 2019. Omar has been indicted for genocide by the International Criminal Court but nothing is expected to come of it...
In an interview with al-Arabiya al-Hadath television on Thursday night, Burhan said judicial authorities in Sudan agreed with the ICC to try Bashir and other wanted figures in Sudan or any other place agreed upon.

"The ICC did not request extraditing Bashir to The Hague but rather trying him to achieve justice," he stressed.

Burhan also renewed his country's stance on the Grand Æthiopian Renaissance Dam dispute and the importance of reaching a binding legal agreement on its operation and filling.

He also called on Addis Ababa to withdraw from al-Fashaqa region, saying Sudan was not seeking war against Æthiopia.

However,
there's no worse danger than telling a mother her baby is ugly...
he stressed his country’s right to defend its land, adding it was ready to confront any escalation despite its willingness to coordinate a solution to the dispute.

Moreover, Burhan said the transitional government has started to reap the benefits of Sudan's removal from the US list of state sponsors of terrorism.

"Khartoum has taken the first step to restore the country’s position in the regional and international community despite the challenges facing the transitional phase."

He further denied any internal differences between civilians and the military in the government and between him and Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok.

Burhan pointed to the development of relations with the United States, albeit at "slow pace," and the intelligence bilateral cooperation.

Asked about the normalization of relations with Israel and the exchanged visits between officials, Burhan replied that relations have been recently limited to intelligence work aimed at addressing terrorism in Sudan and abroad.

He denied any visit by a Sudanese official to Tel Aviv but for the first time revealed that an Israeli delegation had visited Khartoum, headed by Minister of Intelligence, as well as other technical delegations, without naming them.

Orthodox Church mourns death of Christian man killed by ISIS in Sinai’s Bir El-Abd
[AlAhram] An ISIS speaker at the video said the execution of Nabil El-Habashy, 62, comes as a result of his cooperation with the Egyptian army

Egypt’s Coptic Orthodox Church mourned on Sunday the death of an Egyptian Christian who was killed by ISIS in North Sinai’s Bir El-Abd, a city that has witnessed several deadly terrorist attacks and army raids on terror hotbeds.

The terrorist group released a video where they executed a 62-year old man by shooting. An ISIS speaker in the video said the execution of Nabil El-Habashy comes as a result of his cooperation with the Egyptian army.
Or they didn’t get enough ransom for him, or they wanted attention, or he refused to convert, or it was a day ending in Y and someone was feeling cranky. So many possibilities...
The Coptic Orthodox Church mourned El-Habashy in a statement as a "faithful son and servant" who "adhered to his religion till death." According to the church, El-Habashy had been held captive by terrorist militias for five months.
More than one? It sounds like captives are currency in the Sinai like they are in Syria/Iraq, Yemen, and Nigeria.
The church also voiced full solidarity with the state in "countering the hateful acts of terrorism."

The statement said such acts "would only raise our determination and insistence to preserve our precious national unity."

"We pay tribute to our heroes of the Egyptian armed forces and police and offer our condolences to the family of the martyr, praying for the sake of our country’s peace and prosperity," the statement added.

El-Habashy appeared in the ISIS video before he had been executed, saying he had been held captive in ISIS’s Sinai Province for around 3 months and 11 days.

He said he contributed to building the Church of Virgin Mary in Bir El-Abd, asserting that the church is cooperating with the army and the intelligence service in the war against ISIS.

The video then showed El-Habashy on his knees in front of three forces of Evil with rifles.

Speaking during the video, one of the forces of Evil called for a crusade against Christians, warning Christian people in Egypt in particular of a similar fate in the event of cooperation with the army.

The speaker during the video then shot El-Habashy in the back of his head.

The dear departed’s daughter, Marina Nabil, wrote on Facebook "I will miss you, my father. You made us proud during your life with your virtues and in your martyrdom with your strong faith."

In 2017, Bir El-Abd witnessed the deadliest terrorist attack in Egypt’s modern history, when Islamist terrorist elements attacked Moslem worshippers in al-Rawdah mosque, killing over 300 people, including children.

In 2020, Egypt’s Interior Ministry said police potted 18 forces of Evil in a shootout in Bir El-Abd. This came days after ISIS grabbed credit for an attack in which 10 Egyptian military personnel were killed or maimed in the same area.

In July last year, The Egyptian armed forces announced the foiling of a terrorist attack targeting a military position in Bir El-Abd. The army announced the killing of 18 takfiri
...an adherent of takfir wal hijra, an offshoot of Salafism that regards everybody who doesn't agree with them as apostates who most be killed...
s who had participated in the attack.

Libyan Govt Silent as Clashes Erupt in Tripoli
[ENGLISH.AAWSAT] The Libyan Government of National Unity (GNU) did not comment on Saturday on the minor festivities that erupted between militias that are loyal to it in the capital Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
on Friday.

The festivities broke out due to differences over members who are wanted by the authorities.

Local media said the fighting erupted between a group headed by Ghneiwa Kakli and another that is affiliated with the judicial security.

Sources told local media that the "deterrence force" cracked down on an gang that had arrested members of the judicial security.

Amid the fighting, the Interior Ministry deployed several security patrols in Tripoli in an attempt to crack down on criminals and outlaws and to support other security agencies.

Separately, the French embassy in Libya announced that President Emmanuel Macron held telephone talks on Saturday with GNU chief Abdulhamid Dbeibeh to discuss issues of common interest and the need to hold elections that are set for December.

"The monitors would be deployed to Sirte once all the requirements for a permanent United Nations presence have been met, including security, logistical, medical and operational aspects," Guterres wrote to the council on April 7.

Tunisian President Draws Security Powers into Dispute with PM
[ENGLISH.AAWSAT] Tunisian President Kais Saied said on Sunday that his powers as commander of the armed forces also cover the internal security forces, not only the army, in the latest escalation of his dispute with the prime minister.

Saied's comments threaten to draw the sensitive Interior Ministry into the political arena and potentially divide the security establishment as Tunisia's young democracy grapples with a coronavirus (aka COVID19 or Chinese Plague)
...the twenty first century equivalent of bubonic plague, only instead of killing off a third of the population of Europe it kills 3.4 percent of those who notice they have it. It seems to be fond of the elderly, especially Iranian politicians and holy men...
-induced slump as well as murderous Moslem Islamists.

Tunisia's 2014 constitution has until now been widely interpreted as putting the internal security forces and the Interior Ministry under the control of the prime minister.

"The president is the supreme commander of the military and civilian armed forces. Let this matter be clear to all Tunisians ... I do not intend to monopolize these forces, but the constitution must be respected," Saied said in a speech attended by his political adversaries, the speaker of parliament and the prime minister.

Saied is a professor of constitutional law whose surprise election victory in 2019 has rattled Tunisian politics.

The dispute erupted when Saied refused this year to approve a reshuffle that included the dismissal of ministers close to him including the interior minister, Taoufik Charefddin.

Since then, Prime Minister Hichem Mechichi has held the position of acting Interior Minister.

Mechichi responded to Saied's speech by saying: "There is no need for individual, odd readings which, moreover, are taken out of context."

Tunisia was meant to establish a constitutional court to adjudicate such disputes by 2015, but politicians have been unable to agree on the names of the judges to sit on it.

96 dead after heavy fighting in Yemen's Marib, say loyalists
[DAILYTIMES.PK] Some 96 combatants bit the dust as a result of heavy fighting near the Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
i city of Marib over the last two days, loyalist commanders said Friday.

The fight broke out after Iran's Houthi sock puppets
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The legitimate Yemeni government has accused the them of having ties to the Iranian government. Honest they did. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews They like shooting off... ummm... missiles that they would have us believe they make at home in their basements. On the plus side, they did murder Ali Abdullah Saleh, which was the only way the country was ever going to be rid of him...
s
press their offensive on the government´s last northern toehold.

"Clashes between the two sides on several fronts in the Marib area on Wednesday and Thursday killed 36 loyalists troops and 60 rebels," one government military source told AFP.

The Iran-backed rebels rarely disclose their own losses.

Aircraft of a military coalition led by Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
provided air support to government ground forces.

The Huthis are "keeping up their slow advance on Marib and now constitute a very real threat on the Kassara and Mashjah fronts, northwest of the city," another loyalist military official told AFP.

The loss of Marib would be a heavy blow for the Yemeni government, currently based in the southern city of Aden, and for its Saudi backers.

The city of Marib and its surrounding oil fields make up the last significant pocket of government-held territory in the north, the rest of which is under rebel control, including the capital Sanaa.

The city´s fall could also lead to a humanitarian disaster, as vast numbers of civilians displaced from fighting elsewhere have sought refuge in the area.

Around 140 camps have sprung up in the surrounding desert to provide basic shelter for up to two million displaced, according to the Yemeni government.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has warned that the suffering will only end when a political solution is found between the Huthis and the government.

The rebels see Marib as a strategic prize that will give them more bargaining power in peace talks that Washington says must begin soon.

The conflict has killed tens of thousands of people since Saudi Arabia and its allies intervened in 2015.

Millions have been pushed to the brink of famine, in what the United Nations
...where theory meets practice and practice loses...
has described as the world´s worst humanitarian crisis.

Shots fired at Guardsmen patrolling near Wright scene
The beginning of the end of BLM or ANTIFA. You are not as badarse as the Taliban but your arses are now an active military target unofficially.
[Yahoo] MINNEAPOLIS — Two National Guardsmen suffered minor injuries early Sunday when they were fired upon as they provided neighborhood security in Minneapolis following the police killing of a 20-year-old Black man in a nearby suburb, authorities said.

The Minnesota Guard said the men were hurt when several shots came from a light-colored SUV around 4:19 a.m. One was treated at a hospital for an injury for shattered glass, and the other Guard member's injuries were described as superficial.

The Minneapolis area was on heightened alert for a verdict in the Derek Chauvin trial in George Floyd's death even before April 11 when a police officer shot and killed 20-year-old Daunte Wright in a traffic stop in Brooklyn Center.

The city's police chief said he believed Officer Kim Potter mistakenly grabbed her handgun instead of her Taser. Both have since resigned, and Potter is charged with second-degree manslaughter.

The shooting Sunday happened in north Minneapolis, about 5 miles (8 kilometers) from Brooklyn Center. The Guard members were on a patrol with Minneapolis police at the time.

The Brooklyn Center police station has been the site of protests every night since. Saturday's demonstration was more subdued than earlier in the week, when police used a riot line to clear the street several nights and used gas, flash-bang grenades and marking rounds on demonstrators, some of whom threw objects at police and tried to damage a fence.

6 security personnel taken hostage in Pakistan amid arrest of Islamist group leader
[THEHILL] A Pak Islamist group has taken six security personnel hostage after the arrest of their group leader lead to festivities with police, Rooters reported.

Lahore Police front man Arif Rana told Rooters that a police brass hat and two paramilitary officers were being held captive by The Tehrik-e-Labaik Pakistain (TLP) group.

Roads leading to the group's headquarters in Lahore have been blocked.

"The TLP activists have two fuel tankers containing thousands of liters of petrol. They are throwing petrol bombs and stones at security officials, and also shooting bullets as the result of which 11 officials are injured," Rana told Rooters.

TLP had warned the government they had until April 20 to ban the French ambassador over a cartoon depiction of the Prophet Mohammad, which led to Pak authorities arresting their leader. This led to protests and sit-ins in the country, which became violent mostly peaceful as four people died and hundreds were maimed during the violent mostly peaceful festivities.

One person injured in explosion in Erbil’s Sidakan: mayor
[Rudaw] One person was injured in a kaboom in Erbil’s Sidakan area, its mayor confirmed to Rudaw on Sunday.

Ihsan Chalabi, the mayor of Sidakan area, told Rudaw’s Bakhtyar Qadir that the injured man had gone to the area to pick wild spring vegetables when he triggered TNT to explode.

The official added that the road the incident took place on was not considered dangerous before, but has recently been littered with mines due to tensions between Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) guerillas and the Ottoman Turkish army.

Bahram Arif Yasin, the head of Halgurd command, told Qadir that they also believe PKK fighters have planted explosives and TNT on certain roads. He says local authorities have attempted to block them off to prevent people from being harmed, but locals regularly ignore the warnings of danger.

In a similar incident in March, one Peshmerga fighter was killed and another maimed due to a TNT explosive in that area.

The area is frequently bombarded by The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...just another cheapjack Moslem dictatorship, brought to you by the Moslem Brüderbund...
due to the presence of the PKK fighters who have laid mines in unpopulated areas to prevent the advance of Ottoman Turkish forces.

Ottoman Turkish warplanes last month targeted a civilian vehicle carrying four passengers in Sinin village in the Sidakan sub district, injuring two passengers, its mayor told Rudaw.

Seven people arrested on drug charges in Sulaimani: Asayish
[Rudaw] Sulaimani security forces have arrested seven people suspected of using or trading drugs in a 20 day period.

"In the span of 20 days, a woman and six men were arrested in the zone of our directorate," West Sulaimani Asayish directorate said in a statement on Sunday.

The security force added that two of the arrested were suspected drug pushers and the other five were believed to be users.

One of the arrested had 1.2 kilograms of crystal meth in his possession when he was arrested, according to the statement.

"The people that are arrested have a woman among them who is of Arab ethnicity and was a drug user," Rezhin Salih, head of the directorate’s communications, told Rudaw’s Brwa Kyani on Sunday.

According to the ministry, the most common drug found in Iraq is crystal meth, which is smuggled through Iran from Afghanistan.
On Saturday, the Kurdistan Region’s anti-narcotics directorate announced the arrest of 10 people on drug possession charges in 24 hours.

On March 10, Kurdish security forces arrested two people who were in possession of 12 kilograms of narcotics.

The Kurdistan Region and Iraq have seen an increase in drug trafficking and use. Numbers have been in the rise since the fall of Saddam Hussein in 2003, according to Brigadier Raad Ali Hussein, from the Iraqi Ministry of Interior’s narcotics directorate.

"The numbers [of those abusing drugs] are getting dangerously high," Hussein told Rudaw in December, noting that most users are between 18 to 28 years, but many are as young as 15.

More than 6,000 people were arrested on suspicion of drug dealing or use across Iraq in the first 11 months of 2020, Mazin al-Quraishi, of the Ministry of Interior’s narcotics directorate, said in December.

According to the ministry, the most common drug found in Iraq is crystal meth, which is smuggled through Iran

Israel Detains 3 Palestinian Election Candidates in Jerusalem
[ENGLISH.AAWSAT] Israeli police arrested three Paleostinian activists, who were planning to hold a news conference ahead of the election for the Paleostinian Authority’s legislative assembly, scheduled for May.

Paleostinians saw the arrest that took place in East Jerusalem as a measure to undermine Paleostinian democracy and an indication that Israel intends to ban the elections in Jerusalem.

The Israeli intelligence informed the management of St. George Hotel Jerusalem that any activity belonging to the Paleostinian Authority is banned and handed them a decision from the Israeli Minister of Public Security which bans any PA-related activity there, according to WAFA.

Fatah movement decried the arrest of the three candidates - Ashraf A’war, Nasser Qous, and Ratiba Natsha - and the ban of the presser.

Fatah movement front man Osama al-Qawasmi stated that the practices of Israel in Jerusalem reflect a fascist

Armed Kurdish group kills IRGC commander: KDPI

[Rudaw] A commander from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) was killed in an operation carried out by a Kurdish armed opposition group in Iran, a Kurdish party announced on Saturday.

tweeted. "IRGC commander Osman Hosseini was killed in the operation."

The Zagros Eagles said Hosseini was killed on Friday.

The commander’s base issued a statement vowing it would Dire Revenge his death "at the right time and place," IRNA reported.

According to the KDPI, Hosseini was responsible for the death of one of their Peshmerga, Rahim Gargoli, who was killed in festivities with the IRGC in 2017.

The KDPI is a Kurdish armed opposition party that has waged an on-and-off armed war against the Iranian government since the 1979 Islamic Revolution. It is based in the Kurdistan Region. Iran occasionally shells the area on the pretense of targeting the group.
It doesn’t sound like anyone is taking it seriously. Perhaps it’s time to try something else?
The Zagros Eagles are an armed opposition group who appear to be affiliated with KDPI, though the party denies the connection. "Our party does not have any relation with the Zagros Eagles, however we do disseminate some of their activities against the Islamic Regime in Iran," KDPI’s Loghman Ahmedi told the Norwegian Landinfo in a report published in 2017.

Kurdish opposition groups in recent years have used front groups to do their bidding inside Iran to avoid antagonizing the Kurdistan Region authorities. A number of the Iranian Kurdish parties including the KDPI have transferred their bases from populated areas of the Kurdistan Region to the border with Iran.

The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), which has cordial relations with Tehran, has called on armed Iranian Kurdish opposition groups not to launch attacks against neighboring countries and Iranian security forces from Kurdistan Region territory.

One dead, at least two injured in Syria’s al-Hol camp
[Rudaw] One person was killed and at least two others were maimed in Syria’s al-Hol camp in the first incident of its sort since a wide security sweep against Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) sleeper cells in the camp.

An Iraqi refugee’s body was found in the first section of al-Hol camp on Saturday, Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported claiming that the liquidation was conducted by ISIS sleeper cells.

The observatory also added that two Iraqi women were also injured during the liquidation.

According to Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) affiliated media outlet North Press Agency (NPA), the murdered Iraqi refugee, who went by the name of Abu Saif, was shot multiple times in the head, abdomen, and leg.

NPA added that two Iraqi women and one female Syrian IDP were also shot in the process.

The killing of the Iraqi man is the first killing incident since Asayish forces in cooperation with the SDF and the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ) conducted a security campaign inside the camp against ISIS sleeper cells. The large scale operation was launched late March, following a spate of murders in the camp.

The Asayish security forces on April 2 announced they had made 125 arrests in a five-day operation, with the SDF announcing another 31 arrests the following week.

Al-Hol houses an estimated 61,000 people from dozens of countries, the majority of whom are family members of suspected ISIS fighters.

The insecurity in the camp and recent murders "reflect a persistent threat from ISIS and its criminal affiliates to innocent civilians in al-Hol, which places an increased burden on our local partners to maintain security within the camp," the acting US special envoy to the coalition John Godfrey said late last month.

Nearly half the camp’s residents, more than 30,000, are Iraqis, according to data provided to Rudaw English by Sheikhmus Ahmed, who supervises the administration of Rojava’s IDP and refugee camps.

Iraq has resisted repatriating its nationals because of security concerns around bringing suspected ISIS members home, but a plan is now in the works to send 500 families back to Iraq in a phased operation.

Russian Air Force destroys ISIS headquarters in central Syria
[AlMasdar] Friday morning witnessed intense operational efforts by the Russian warplanes, following mobile monitoring operations and a bank of targets for the vehicles and headquarters of the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. (ISIS/ISIS/IS/ISIS) terrorist organization in central Syria.

A high-level field source told Sputnik Arabic on Friday that Russian reconnaissance planes monitored the headquarters of ISIS in central Syria, in addition to four-wheel drive vehicles that were moving between the axes of Jabal al-Bishri, south of Raqqa, and the Ithriya area of Hama.

The source said: "With the completion of the intelligence data, the intervention began by Russian warplanes with more than 30 Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
s, which resulted in the destruction of 5 SUVs and 6 headquarters that the organization used to carry out its military operations."

The source continued that the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) has sent more military reinforcements during the past few hours towards the axes of the Badiya al-Sham region as part of the combing operations that it began about two months ago, with the support of the Russian Air Force.

The source pointed out that the attacking ability of the organization’s holy warriors has decreased dramatically during the last period, as a result of cutting the axes of its activity through the focused airstrikes carried out by the Russian warplanes.

Jabal al-Bashri is located in the middle of the Badiya al-Sham desert in central Syria; it is spread across several governorates, including al-Raqqa, Deir Ezzor and Homs.

Iranian Militias South of Syria's Aleppo Pressure Citizens to Leave Homes
[ENGLISH.AAWSAT] Iranian militias are using sound bombs in areas south of Syria’s Aleppo "to terrorize citizens and force them to leave their homes," said local sources.

They accused the militias of seizing people’s homes to use them as military headquarters or hideouts for some of their leaders.

They pointed to the recent escalation of violence by Iranian militias in the southern countryside of Aleppo, in an attempt to "expand their control by seizing more homes, lands and real estate and displacing citizens."

The militias have seized agricultural lands, homes, warehouses and even entire villages on the pretext of "pursuing terrorists."

According to the opposition Ain al-Furat news network, the militias launch dozens of "highly explosive" sound bombs on citizens’ homes every day.

Iranian militias have recently stepped up their strategic activities in several areas.

They are buying real estate in three main regions, namely Eastern Ghouta in the countryside of Damascus in the western countryside of Homs, the Qusayr area on the border with Leb

New reinforcements for the militias arrived from southern Hama a few days ago in the eastern and southern countryside of Aleppo.

The convoys included more than 400 Lebanese, Iraqi and imported muscle with about 35 armored vehicles, five trucks loaded with ammunition, artillery and short-range rocket launchers.

Protesters in Lebanon Demand Expulsion of Iranian Ambassador
[ENGLISH.AAWSAT] Civil movement groups staged a sit-in on Saturday in front of the Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Beirut to protest against "Iran’s violation of Leb

’s land and sea borders" and the government’s failure to address the issue.

Last month, the Iranian ambassador refused to respond to a summoning by caretaker foreign minister, Charbel Wehbeh, after he insulted Maronite Patriarch Beshara al-Rai on al-Alam channel, which is affiliated with Iran.

In a statement on behalf of the protesters, lawyer Grace Moubarak said: "We, the free groups that emerged from the October 17 revolution, believers in illusory sovereignty, freedom and independence, stand here today to raise our voice and to object against the Iranian ambassador’s refusal to accept his summoning after insulting our national illusory sovereignty, in flagrant violation of Lebanon’s dignity."

She continued: "The incident reflects the authorities’ insistence on neglecting our rights, distorting the image of Lebanon, destroying its port and half of its capital... in order to serve the Iranian axis and isolate the country from its Arab, regional and global fold."

Protesters raised the issue of the maritime borders and the failure to sign a decree demanding the expansion of the Lebanese maritime zone in the negotiations with Israel.

"The time has come to liberate Lebanon and restore its decision-making power," Moubarak urged, adding: "Therefore, we request signing the amendment to Decree 6433, which guarantees our southern maritime borders..., confronting the flagrant aggression of our northern maritime borders, and severing diplomatic relations with Iran, in addition to the expulsion of its ambassador."

Protesters also called for the implementation of the constitution, national pact and international and Arab resolutions, especially UN Security Council Resolutions 1559, 1680 and 1701, and holding of an international conference on Lebanon, according to an initiative proposed by Rai.
