In the southern province of Zabul, Taliban forces attacked government security outposts, killing at least 11 soldiers, also on Sunday, police said. The ministry of defence said on Twitter six soldiers were killed in those clashes.

Government security posts were also attacked in the southern province of Helmand and northern province of Baghlan, officials said. Four members of the security forces were killed in both attacks.

Thirteen Taliban fighters were killed in Baghlan, according to police spokesman. The Taliban also suffered casualties in the other three attacks, officials said, but they did not provide details.

#1  A common event: Thursday، 14 March 2019 01:59 PM
At least four people were killed and five others injured on Thursday in a gas pipeline explosion in southwest Iran. "Gas leakage from a pipeline that linked the gas network from Mahshahr city to Ahvaz city, caused the blast," ISNA quoted local official Kiamars Hajizadeh as saying. Poor safety measures and Iran's aging infrastructures blamed by some authorities for blasts in the past.

#8  Yes we did, through a Canadian company that wrote specialized software for controlling natural gas pipeline pumps and valves. The Russians stole the bogus software, installed it in their pipeline control system. At the appropriate time the altered software made the equipment malfunction and hyper pressurized the pipeline resulting in one of the largest non-nuclear explosions.

US deploys Patriot air defense system to Iraq
[Rudaw] The United States has deployed Patriot air defense batteries to Iraqi bases to protect American troops recently targeted by Iranian missiles, US and Iraqi military sources told AFP Monday.

Washington and Baghdad had been negotiating the placement of the defense system since January, when Tehran fired ballistic missiles at the western Iraqi base of Ain al-Asad, which hosts American and other foreign troops.

It was not immediately clear whether the US had ultimately received the Iraqi government's approval.

#1  From the same source: Purported new Iraqi Shia group claims attacks on Camp Taji
By Caleb Weiss & Joe Truzman | March 15, 2020
A likely Iranian-backed militant group called “League of the Revolutionaries” published a video Sunday claiming responsibility for recent attacks against a base housing American-led coalition troops in Iraq. An Iraqi base which hosts American and coalition troops has come under repeated attack in the last several days... The base known as Camp Taji hosts a coalition of troops from countries who belong to the Combined Joint Task Force. The coalition is tasked under Operation Inherent Resolve to defeat ISIS in Iraq and Syria.

ISIS prison break in northeast Syria ends
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS/ISIS/IS/ISIS) inmates that attempted to escape from the Ghuweiran Prison last night have once again been apprehended by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the al-Hasakah Governorate.

According to reports, the SDF was able to restore order after the Islamic State inmates attempted to break out of the Ghuweiran Prison.

The ISIS inmates that attempted to escape the prison did not make it far in al-Hasakah, as some of the hard boyz were found at the industrial secondary buildings and the former industrial institute, which are not far from the main facility.

A source said some of the ISIS hard boyz managed to get a hold of some light weapons during their prison break, which led to their temporary success.

During the prison break, the U.S. Coalition conducted several low altitude flights over the al-Ghuweiran District of al-Hasakah; this includes breaking the sound barrier over the Ghuweiran Prison.

The Ghuweiran Central Prison houses approximately 5,000 ISIS detainees from 54 countries; it is the largest detention center for the Islamic State terrorist group.
