[ToloNews] At least nine members of Ghazni police bit the dust in a sudden attack by the Talibs in the central Ghazni province, the provincial police confirmed.
The attack happened at around 1am early on Friday on a police outpost in the Police District 3 (PD3) of Ghazni city, the provincial police said in a statement.
Mujib Mahmoudi, the head of the PD3 Police Headquarters, was also killed in the attack, the statement added.
According to the statement, the Taliban ...Arabic for students... also suffered losses in the attack but an exact figure has not been released so far.
One member of Ghazni Provincial Council said on condition of anonymity that the attack has left 15 police force members dead.

"Khadim, a Taliban weapons controller was killed during an Afghan cops raid in Zanahkan district March 23, 2019. Khadim was responsible for numerous attacks in southeast Afghanistan targeting civilians and babus government employees," informed military sources said Thursday.
The sources further added that Afghan cops have killed over 45 Taliban fighters in Ghazni province this month.
The anti-government armed gunnies including Taliban have not commented regarding the killing of Khadim so far.
Ghazni is among the relatively volatile provinces in southeastern parts of Afghanistan.
Taliban are active in some of the districts of Ghazni and often attempt to carry out attacks against the government and security institutions.

"We are in contact with the Tunisian authorities to know why he (Kartas) has been held for questioning," a UN statement said, noting that Kartas enjoys diplomatic immunity.
According to Tunisia website universnews, Kartas has dual Tunisian and German nationality.
The Tunisian Interior Ministry said in a statement on Friday that two Tunisian citizens, including Kartas, were tossed into the calaboose on suspicion of "spying for foreign parties."
"Confidential documents containing sensitive detailed data capable of harming national security were seized (from the suspects), along with technical equipment for jamming and intercepting communications that is banned in our country," the ministry said.

Fighters in 13 vehicles late Wednesday attacked the base outside Miringa village, 15 kilometres (nine miles) from the home of army chief Yusuf Tukur Buratai.

"They came around 6:30 pm (1730 GMT) in 13 vehicles and attacked the military location just outside the village," Miringa resident Umar Sanda told AFP.
"The two sides fought for more than one hour while all the people in the village fled into the bush."
Fleeing residents later returned to their homes and "found the base, the lodging, an armoured personnel carrier and a section of a primary school burnt," said another resident, Abba Usman.
Usman said the bodies of a policeman and a resident who lived near the base were recovered.
"The soldiers were able to fight off the attack and prevented the bully boyz from entering the village," said civilian militia leader Mustapha Karimbe, from the nearby town of Biu.
The area around Miringa has been repeatedly targeted by bully boyz since Buratai became Nigeria's chief of army staff in 2015.
In January this year, six soldiers were killed and 14 were maimed when ISWAP sacked a base in nearby Kamuya village, stealing weapons and burning military vehicles.
Kamuya, the home village of Buratai's mother, was hit twice in December 2015, not long after he was named the army chief.

Attacks have also been recorded in the wider Lake Chad area of neighbouring Cameroon ...a long, narrow country that fills the space between Nigeria and Chad on the northeast, CAR to the southeast. Prior to incursions by Boko Haram nothing ever happened there... , Chad and Niger, with particular concern in recent months about attacks from ISWAP.
The IS-backed faction has repeatedly targeted military installations and troops since mid-2018.
It may also have replaced its leader with a hardliner at a time of mounting concern about the spread of jihadism in the wider West African region.

They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The Yemeni government has accused the Houthis of having ties to the Iranian government, which wouldn't suprise most of us. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews ... lines in the Abs District of the Hajjah Governorate.
According to a report from northern Yemen, the Yemeni National Army and their allies seized more than 200 square kilometers of territory, including many towns and villages near the Saudi border.
This is an important advance for the Yemeni National Army as they had been fighting the Houthi forces in the Abs District for several weeks.

[DAWN] A Bangladesh court sentenced five men to death in absentia for atrocities perpetrated during the war in 1971, prosecutors said on Thursday.
A special court said the runaways were found guilty of serial abuses during the war. Critics say the so-called International Crimes Tribunal, which has no international oversight, is politically motivated and used to target the opposition.
"They were charged with murder, abduction, looting, arson and rape in Netrokona in 1971," prosecutor M.R. Badol said. Prosecutors said the four accused were connected to Jamaat-e-Islami ...The Islamic Society, founded in 1941 in Lahore by Maulana Sayyid Abul Ala Maududi, aka The Great Apostosizer. The Jamaat opposed the independence of Bangladesh but has operated an independent branch there since 1975. The Jamaat's objectives are the establishment of a pure Islamic state, governed by Sharia law. Bendaoud was the first person to be tried in La Belle France over the synchronized shooting and suicide kabooms on the Bataclan concert hall, national stadium and several cafes in which a total of 130 people were killed.
The attacks were the worst in La Belle France since World War II.
Five days later, police tracked Abaaoud down to Bendaoud's flat and launched a dramatic raid, in which Abaaoud, Akrouh and a female cousin of Abaaoud's were killed.
Bendaoud, a 31-year-old drug pusher, became a national laughing stock after declaring in an infamous TV interview that he had detected nothing suspicious about his lodgers.
At his first trial, the court found insufficient evidence that he knew the men were part of the November attacks cell.
Bendaoud presented himself as a cocaine-sniffing womanizer who was in the habit of renting out his flat to gangsters without asking questions.
The prosecution appealed the verdict, which was overturned on Friday.
Abaaoud's cousin Youssef Ait Boulahcen, a 26-year-old ambulance driver who was tried alongside him, was also sentenced to a four-year custodial sentence on Friday for "failing to report a terrorist crime."
In a separate case earlier this week, Abaaoud was given a one-year sentence for issuing death threats against one of the survivors of the Gay Paree attacks.

[DAWN] Five men were nabbed Book 'im, Mahmoud! on Thursday after Maltese armed forces took control of a tanker that was hijacked by migrants colonists off Libya and the ship docked in Malta.
The Palau-flagged tanker Elhiblu I had picked up 108 migrants colonists including women and kiddies on Tuesday evening and then headed back to Tripoli ...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn... But six nautical miles from port the ship suddenly changed course and headed north toward Europe.
Italia’s far-right Interior Minister Matteo Salvini said the vessel had been hijacked and vowed that the migrants colonists would not be allowed to disembark in Italia.
The 52-metre (170-foot) tanker was about 30 nautical miles from Malta when the Armed Forces of Malta (AFM) established communications with the captain.
"The captain repeatedly stated that he was not in control of the vessel and that he and his crew were being forced and threatened by a number of migrants colonists to proceed to Malta," the AFM said in a statement on Thursday morning.
"AFM Patrol Vessel P21 stopped the tanker from entering Maltese territorial waters.
"An AFM Special Operations Unit team was dispatched to board and secure the vessel in order to hand over control of the ship to the captain." Escorted by the Maltese navy, the tanker arrived in the port of Valletta around 8:30am.
Five men suspected of having been the leaders of the hijacking were arrested, handcuffed and taken away in a police van. should have been hung from a yardarm..

[Jpost] Israeli troops shot and maimed seven Paleostinians on the Gazoo border on Friday, Gazoo medical officials said, the day before a mass rally called to mark the first anniversary of weekly protests in which around 200 Paleostinians have been killed.
Despite a decision by Gazoo protest organizers not to hold a big demonstration on Friday some Paleostinians turned out, although in smaller numbers than usual. Humanitarian officials urged restraint for Saturday's anniversary to avoid any further bloodshed.
The Israeli military said its troops faced around 800 demonstrators along the fortified frontier on Friday and that they had used riot dispersal measures to defend the border.
There were also sporadic festivities in the West Bank, where Paleostinian youths threw petrol bombs in Hebron, and 150 demonstrators hurled stones at Israeli troops, who fired back with rubber bullets and tear gas.
Paleostinian media also reported the IDF attacked Paleostinians who attempted to blow balloons carrying bombs towards Israel.

Eight Palestinians were wounded by live fire during protests at the fence separating Israel from the Gaza Strip on Friday, the Gaza Health Ministry said. One of the wounded was hit in the stomach and was in serious condition, according to the ministry.

Hamas depends on idiots believing their propaganda and raising a fuss. That is wearing thin. There is nothing like victory to solve a problem like Hamas.

Led by their 4th Division, the Syrian Arab Army began their assault by heavily targeting the Turkestan Islamic Party’s (TIP) positions inside the al-Ghaab Plain.
According to a military source in nearby al-Suqaylabiyeh, the Syrian Arab Army targeted the Turkestan Islamic Party’s positions after they observed the latter’s movements in the al-Ghaab Plain.
The Syrian Arab Army reportedly used both artillery shells and surface-to-surface missiles to strike the Turkestan Islamic Party’s positions this evening.
Earlier today, the Syrian Army also carried out a similar attack in northern Hama; however, this assault targeted the Free Syrian Army ... the more palatable version of the Syrian insurgency, heavily influenced by the Moslem Brüderbund... ’s (FSA) Jaish al-Izza group at the towns of al-Latamnah and Kafr Zita.
