US air strike in Libya kills two militant ‘leaders’
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] A US air strike hit a house in southern Libya on Saturday where holy warrior "leaders" were meeting, killing two of them, the front man of the Libyan prime minister said.

Spokesman Mohammed El Sallak, in a statement on his Twitter account, said the strike was "coordinated" with the UN-backed Government of National Accord (GNA) of Prime Minister Fayez al-Sarraj.

The raid targeted "a meeting of terrorist leaders" in a house in the Ubari region, 1,000 kilometers south of the Libyan capital, Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
, said Sallak.

He later told AFP he was not immediately able to identify the gunnies targeted in the air strike.

The United State has carried out frequent raids on the ISIS group in southern Libya.

Libya has been gripped by chaos since a NATO

-backed uprising toppled and killed dictator Moamer Qadaffy in 2011, with rival administrations and multiple militias vying for control of the oil-rich country.

Militants and people-traffickers have taken advantage of the chaos to gain a foothold in the North African country.

ISIS seized Qadaffy 's hometown of Sirte in June 2015 but were driven out of the coastal town in December the following year by pro-GNA forces with US air cover.

The gunnies are still active, however, in central and southern Libya.

ISIS has claimed several attacks in Libya, the latest in February when a suicide boom-mobileing against the forces of Libyan strongman Khalifa Haftar

While held prisoner, he and his fellow officers formed a group hoping to overthrow Qadaffy. He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. In 1993, while living in the United States, he was convicted in absentia of crimes against the Jamahiriya and sentenced to death. Haftar held a senior position in the anti-Qadaffy forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. In 2014 he was commander of the Libyan Army when the General National Congress (GNC) refused to give up power in accordance with its term of office. Haftar launched a campaign against the GNC and its Islamic fundamentalist allies. His campaign allowed elections to take place to replace the GNC, but then developed into a civil war. Haftar supports an administration in the east of the country, opposed to the Tripoli-based government of Serraj, who has struggled to assert his authority across the country.

Egyptian police kill 6 Hasm terrorists after failed assassination bid on Alexandria security chief
[AlAhram] The Egyptian police said they had killed six Hasm terrorist group members believed to be behind a failed liquidation attempt on Alexandria’s security chief on Saturday, which left two coppers dead and injured several others.

In an official statement, Egypt's interior ministry said the bad boyz were potted on Sunday dawn following a shootout in a residential apartment in Beheira governorate, around 89 kilometres from the Mediterranean city which witnessed Saturday's attack.

The ministry identified three of the terrorists, adding that the three men were wanted by the authorities in a 2017 Supreme State Security case related to the outlawed Moslem Brüderbund's "militant wing."

The killed members of the cell were led by runaway Brotherhood leader Bassem Gad, who the interior ministry said was responsible for ordering an execution of Saturday's attack in Alexandria.

According to the statement, Gad ordered the cell members to detonate a boom-mobile targeting El-Nemr’s convoy.

The cell has also received orders from leaders of the Moslem Brüderbund abroad to target a number of prominent figures and vital facilities in Alexandria, Beheira, and Kafr El-Sheikh.

The interior ministry said in a Saturday statement that an improvised bomb placed under a car detonated as El-Nemr’s convoy passed through El-Moaskar El-Romany Street in Alexandria.

Hasm did not claim responsibility for the attack through its social media channels.

The attack came two days before Egypt hold the 2018 presidential elections, which will take place from Monday to Wednesday.

Egypt's interior ministry and military have been beefing up security nationwide ahead of the elections, where incumbent President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi is facing the head of the Ghad Party Moussa Mostafa Moussa.

Doha Releases Terror List Comprised Mostly of Qataris
[AAWSAT] Gulf States boycotting Doha said Thursday that a released Qatar

i terror list that includes the names of 19 individuals and 8 entities was not a sufficient move to fight terrorism.

Head of the Egyptian parliament's foreign affairs committee, Tarek Radwan told Asharq al-Awsat on Thursday: "Qatar’s decision is self-evident. It is not considered a positive step."

Also, several observers said Qatar’s move was only a "procedural development," dismissing the decision to place some entities, such as Egypt’s Wilayat Sinai, on the list.

Egypt’s Second Deputy Chairman of Human Rights Committee Margaret Azer told Asharq al-Awsat that Doha may have realized it might also be affected by terrorism, and therefore took this move as a preventive measure.

"Qatar is a small country that lacks the necessary capabilities to confront other states," she added.

On Thursday, Qatar placed 11 Qataris, two Saudis, four Egyptians and two Jordanians on a terror list.

The list was published Wednesday on the website of the Qatari National Committee to Combat Terrorism that is affiliated with the Qatari Interior Ministry. The list is based on a law on "combating terrorism" issued last July by the country’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

The Qatari move came nine months after Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. , the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt, known as the "Anti-Terror Quartet", had imposed travel, diplomatic and trade sanctions on Qatar in June 2017, accusing it of financing terrorism, meddling in the affairs of Arab states and being involved with Iran.

UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Anwar Gargash wrote on his Twitter account that 10 of the individuals on the list were already included in three of the terror lists issued by the quartet. He said the list has proven that Doha supports terrorism.

"Apart from its obstinacy, Qatar is confirming the evidence against it and that its support for extremism and terrorism is at the heart of its crisis," the Emirati minister wrote.

Military launch manhunt amid fears 'potential bomber' will attack tourists in Rome
[Express] THE Italian military has launched a manhunt for a suspected Islamist terrorist over fears he could launch a horrific attack on tourists in Rome.

Counter-terror officials are hunting for Mathlouthi Atef, 42, after he was flagged up as a "possible bomber", according to local media.

A mugshot of the Tunisian suspect has been circulated over fears he could strike bars, train stations and shopping centres in Rome.

The alert came after the Italian embassy in Tunisia's capital, Tunis, received an anonymous letter claiming a man was "ready to attack the centre of Rome".

The chilling threat was "considered reliable", according to Rome-based newspaper Il Corriere della Citta.

Another newspaper, Il Giornale, reported that Atef is already known to police for drug dealing and "other minor crimes".

Holocaust survivor’s body found burnt, stabbed in Paris apartment
[IsraelTimes] In crime reminiscent of the Sarah Halimi murder, declared an anti-Semitic crime, victim had reported in the past that a neighbor had threatened to burn her
One assumes similar things have been happening to Christians in France. But because viciously murdering Christians does not garner the hate crime label, it is not remarked upon in the press.
The burnt and stabbed body of a Holocaust survivor was found in her Gay Paree apartment, in what a watchdog on anti-Semitism said was a case reminiscent of an alleged anti-Semitic hate crime.

The National Bureau for Vigilance Against Anti-Semitism, or BNVCA, wrote in a statement Sunday that the suspected murder of the 85-year-old woman, identified by BNVCA and in the French media only as Mireille K., "is reminiscent of the crime committed against Sarah Halimi," a 66-year-old Jewish teacher and physician, whom prosecutors say was murdered by her Moslem neighbor in April partly in connection with her Jewish identity.

According to the BNVCA, the octogenarian’s body was set on fire Friday night. Her charred body also had at least 11 stab wounds. Police have a suspect in jug in connection with her death.

The victim was found dead in her apartment on Philippe August Street in Gay Paree’ 11th District, in the city’s east near the Nation Square. She reported in the past to authorities about a man from the same street, whom she said had threatened to "burn her," BNVCA wrote.

A forensic examination of the apartment showed that an arsonist started a fire in at least five distinct areas of that space, the report also said.

Last month, the brutal murder of Halimi was declared an anti-Semitic act, a legal source told AFP, after a campaign to draw attention to the crime.

When Sarah Halimi, 65, died last April in Gay Paree, her family and Jewish groups blamed anti-Semitism.

Kobili Traore, 27, who was jugged
Maw! They're comin' to get me, Maw!
the day after the killing, went before the instructing magistrate, who finally added anti-Semitism to the charges, the source said.

Traore was Halimi’s neighbor and allegedly broke into her apartment in a public housing development in eastern Gay Paree on the night of April 3.

Amid shouts of "Allah Akbar" (God is great), Koranic verses and insults, he beat Halimi before throwing her out of the window.

"I’ve killed the demon," he allegedly shouted in Arabic.

The murder stirred debate over anti-Semitism and violence in working-class districts of La Belle France. Officials had been reluctant to ascribe the crime to anti-Semitism.

Earlier this month, the judge scrapped a hate crime element from the indictment of Traore; the prosecution appealed the decision.

Despite having taken a large amount of cannabis before the killing, psychiatric testing found he was still responsible for his actions, which were "not incompatible with an anti-Semitic dimension."

The prosecutor then called for anti-Semitism to be added to the charges, as Jewish groups had demanded.

Last month, they started legal action demanding a response from the instructing magistrate on whether Halimi was targeted because of her religion.

The affair took a political turn last July when President Emmanuel Macron called for the full facts to be known during a visit by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu

La Belle France’s half-a-million-plus Jewish community has voiced increasing concern with a rise in anti-Semitic acts that have seen thousands of Jews leave for Israel.

In a statement on Sunday, the Security Media Center said “what was circulated by media channels that Islamic State blew up a Sufi shrine in Tal Hama, southeast of Daquq in Kirkuk is untrue.”

“The confirmed news was about a bomb blast in a grave, 10 kilometers west of Daquq. It targeted a grave, not a shrine,” he added.

Iraqi security forces arrest senior Islamic State media officer

Mosul (IraqiNews.com) Iraqi security forces have arrested the chief editor of one of Islamic State’s media outlets, security sources were quoted saying on Sunday as authorities hunt for remnant militants.

Shafaq News website quoted the sources saying that the IS member, nicknamed Abu Saif al-Iraqi, was arrested in Mosul.

It said al-Iraqi was in charge of Al-Naba, one of Islamic State’s propaganda papers.

Islamic State militants have run several media outlets propagating their operations and even publicizing executions of civilians and security members since they took over a third of Iraq in 2014 to proclaim a self-styled “caliphate” in Iraq and neighboring Syria.

5 Druze Israelis arrested for smuggling weapons from West Bank
[IsraelTimes] Suspects brought several caches of arms into Israeli territory after making deal with Paleostinian citizen

Five Israelis from Druze communities in the north of the country were indicted Sunday for smuggling weapons from Paleostinian Authority-controlled areas in the West Bank into Israel.

According to the indictment filed by the Haifa District Prosecution, the group is made up of friends hailing from Daliyat al-Karmel and Isfiya, two Druze towns near the coastal city of Haifa.

The charge sheet details how the central suspect made an agreement with a Paleostinian citizen, named in the indictment as "Abu Adham," to bring weapons "from the Paleostinian Authority into Israeli territory," in return for an undisclosed sum of money.

Under that agreement, the suspects brought several caches of weapons into Israel earlier this month.

The weapons were then to be transferred to a resident of Shfaram, an Arab Israeli town in the north, whose identity was not known to the suspects.

Three of the suspects were nabbed
Keep yer hands where we can see 'em, if yez please!
when they were caught with weapons in their car at a temporary checkpoint set up on Highway 6, the indictment said.

Ahead of mass protest, Hamas holds 1st live-fire military exercise in Gaza; Iron Dome responds unnecessarily
[IsraelTimes] Gazooks begin preparing tent cities near Israel border ahead of planned mass marches on Passover Eve; Israel boosting army deployment

Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood, on Sunday carried out an unprecedented military exercise in the Gazoo Strip, including the test-firing of a rocket, as Israel boosted its forces along the border in preparation for a Paleostinian planned mass march on Passover eve.

Eyewitnesses said the terror organization fired at least one rocket towards the Mediterranean and practiced attacking several models of Merkava tanks, similar to those used by the IDF.

On Saturday, the group’s military wing, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, warned residents ahead of the drill, claiming that the exercise was "defensive" only.

Hebrew media reported that the Israeli military was completing preparations for a planned Paleostinian "day of rage" on Passover Eve this coming Friday, when thousands of Paleostinians in the Strip, encouraged by Hamas, are expected to try to march to the fences marking the borders with Israel.

Paleostinian tractors in the Hamas-run Strip began preparing an area east of Khan Yunis on Sunday morning for a tent city planned for the march. As well as leveling the area near the border with Israel, the tractors set up dirt mounds intended to protect the participants from Israeli gunfire.

Gazoo news agency Al Aqsa Voice said this was one of six camps planned for Friday’s protest, which it described as "a peaceful sit-in."

The coming days will see a significant boost in IDF forces situated along the Gazoo border. The cabinet focused on the expected protests during its weekly meeting on Sunday.

A Hadashot TV report on Saturday night said the IDF has briefed local council heads adjacent to Gazoo ahead of the anticipated tensions in the coming days.

On Passover Eve, March 30, Paleostinians and Israeli Arabs throughout Israel, the West Bank, and Gazoo will mark Land Day, commemorating an Israeli decision in 1976 to expropriate land in the Galilee ‐ a move that sparked widespread riots that resulted in the death of six Arab Israeli citizens.

Paleostinian groups in Hamas-run Gazoo have for weeks been planning a "Mass March of Return," which they hope will see tens of thousands of participants surging toward border fences.

The IDF is said to be seeking to strike a balance between preventing anyone from breaching the fences, while also averting fatalities.

Tensions between Israel and terror groups in the Paleostinian enclave have risen in recent weeks after a number of bombs went kaboom! near IDF patrols along the border, sparking reprisal attacks.

IDF: Iron Dome fired in response to Gaza gunfire; no rockets

[IsraelTimes] Incoming alarms sound throughout the area surrounding the Gazoo Strip as system triggered by Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood, exercise; IDF said to retaliate with tank fire

The Iron Dome missile defense system was apparently mistakenly activated by automatic gunfire from Gazoo on Sunday, sending an unnecessary barrage of interceptors into the skies above southern Israel, the army said.

The launch of the interceptors also appeared to be responsible for the wave of missile warning sirens that went off in the southern regions of Hof Ashkelon and Shaar Hanegev earlier on Sunday night.

No rockets were fired at Israel, according to the Israel Defense Forces. An army spokesperson stressed that the situation was normal along the Gazoo border.

Yet Paleostinian media reported that the IDF retaliated to the apparent false alarm with tank fire aimed at a Hamas position in the northern Gazoo Strip. This could not be immediately confirmed by the army.

The late night sirens and Iron Dome launches were apparently set off by the live-fire military exercise being held by Gazoo’s Hamas rulers on Sunday.

An IDF spokesperson said the military would be investigating the incident in order to ensure that such an event does not repeat itself.

Videos filmed by residents of southern Israel showed the launches of multiple Iron Dome interceptor missiles into the night skies.

Southeast Asia
Two rangers injured in ambush in southern Thailand
[Bangkok Post] Two volunteer rangers were injured in an ambush by militants at a school in Narathiwat province late Friday night. The attack occurred at a school building in Tak Bai district, said police spokesman Nima-arming Watae.

While members of a ranger patrol team were resting in the building, they were ambushed by assailants who fired several shots at them. Two volunteers. Police were not sent to investigate the scene at night for fear that insurgents might have set a trap.

A team of police, bomb disposal and forensic officers and soldiers were sent to inspect the area on Saturday morning. They found spent M16 cartridges scattered over the area.

Investigators said the ranger team was attacked after conducting a night patrol in Taliang village. At least six attackers had hidden behind a wall about 30 meters away from the school building and opened fire at patrol members as they rested.

Police blamed southern insurgents target security officers for the attack.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Turkey claims full control of Afrin
[DAWN] The Ottoman Turkish army and Syrian opposition fighters it backs have "total control" of the Kurdish enclave of Afrin in northern Syria, the country’s official news agency said on Saturday, nearly a week after they captured the main town that carries the same name.

Anadolu news agency said the Ottoman Turkish military was continuing its sweep for mines and explosives to allow Afrin’s resident’s to return, following Arclight airstrikes and festivities with Syrian Kurdish forces.

Journalists on a press tour organised by the Ottoman Turkish government on Saturday passed through the north-western town of Jinderes en route to central Afrin.

Jinderes, captured by The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
and allied Syrian opposition fighters, was the scene of heavy street festivities earlier in March. The AP saw a widely destroyed and empty town.

Turkey launched a ground and air offensive on Jan 20 codenamed Olive Branch to oust the main Syrian Kurdish militia known as the People’s Protection Units, or YPG, from Afrin. Turkey considers the YPG a terror group and an extension of Kurdish rebels waging an insurgency within its own borders.

Syrian Kurdish officials and the country’s state media said the Ottoman Turkish offensive displaced more than 200,000 people from their homes.

In Afrin’s town centre, captured Sunday, allied Syrian forces patrolled the streets as Ottoman Turkish tanks and armoured personnel carriers drove past.

Reports say Israeli jets hit Hezbollah positions along Syria-Lebanon border
[IsraelTimes] Arabic media outlets reported that Israeli jets struck a number of Hezbollah positions along the Leb-Syria border on Sunday night, in reports that were not confirmed by either Hezbollah or the IAF.

The reports said the attacks were said to have occurred near the eastern Lebanese town of Baalbek, near the Syrian border.

The Iran-backed Hezbollah terrorist group denied the Arclight airstrikes took place. A spokesperson for the Israeli military said she was aware of the reports in Arabic media, but could not comment further.

Lebanese media outlet al-Jadeed news reported the loud sounds heard by residents of the area were not kabooms, but Israeli planes breaking the sound barrier, causing sonic booms.

In statements to Hezbollah-affiliated media, the terrorist group said neither it nor the Syrian army were bombed by Israel "in Baalbek or in Syria."

In general, the Israeli army does not discuss its airstrikes in foreign countries.

However,
Caliphornia hasn't yet slid into the ocean, no matter how hard it's tried...
Israel has said repeatedly that it will thwart attempts by the Iran-backed Hezbollah terrorist group to acquire advanced weaponry.
