SCOTUS Overturns Appeals Court Upholding Abortion Without Parental Consent
[Zero] Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson was the sole member of the Supreme Court to file a dissenting opinion in the case, Chapman v. Doe, court file 22-312.

In the case, the court vacated the ruling of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 8th Circuit and remanded the case to that court with instructions to dismiss the proceeding as moot. Jackson objected to the specific manner in which this was done because it erased any precedential value the circuit court ruling may have had.

In the case, a pregnant minor, Jane Doe, visited her local courthouse to apply for a dispensation allowing her to bypass parental consent for the planned abortion. The office of the petitioner, Michelle Chapman, circuit clerk for Randolph County, Missouri, told her she couldn’t file a bypass petition without notifying a parent.

Doe got an abortion in Illinois after a court there authorized it, absent parental notification.

Doe filed a civil rights lawsuit in federal district court for damages, claiming that Chapman violated her 14th Amendment rights. Chapman took the position that she was immune to lawsuits because she followed a Missouri statute and a judge’s directions.

Chapman also claimed that Doe’s right to a bypass hearing wasn’t clearly established and that she therefore couldn’t have violated Doe’s rights.

Afghanistan and Lebanon Named Unhappiest Countries in the World: Report
[KhaamaPress] According to the annual World Happiness Report, Afghanistan ranked 137, and Lebanon Hezbollahstan
...The land area formerly occupied by the state of Lebanon, before that Phoenicia...
ranked 136 are the two unhappiest countries in the world.

Following a three-year analysis of the data, researchers ranked the countries. They examined a number of factors, such as income, social support, a healthy life expectancy, personal freedom, generosity of the people, and perception of internal and external corruption levels.

Afghanistan scored poorly in all six categories, including increased poverty, lack of jobs, corruption, and lack of freedom, particularly since returning the Taliban
...Arabic for students...
to power in 2021, all combined into crushing unhappiness for the people.

The Scandinavian country has been named the happiest country in the world by the World Happiness Report for the sixth year in a row. It beat off countries like Denmark, Iceland, and Israel to claim the spot.

Among the top ten happiest countries in the world, Finland remained in the top position for the sixth year, followed by Denmark, Iceland, Israel, and the Netherlands.

However,
there's more than one way to skin a cat...
Afghanistan and Lebanon remained the unhappiest countries, preceded by Sierra Leone, Zim-bob-we, and Congo.

This year’s report also demonstrates that people worldwide are robust and resilient in the face of several disasters, with average global life satisfaction levels in Covid-19 being as high as before the pandemic years.

CDC Warns of Dangerous Fungal Infection Spreading at ‘Alarming Rate'
[Epoch Times] The CDC is warning of an increasingly drug-resistant emerging fungus that the health agency says presents a "serious global health threat."

Candida auris is a rare fungal disease that is easily spread through contact with contaminated surfaces or from person-to-person and can cause severe illness in hospitalized patients and those with weakened immune systems, according to health officials.

In some rare cases, the yeast can enter the bloodstream of patients and spread throughout the body, causing serious invasive candidiasis infections, which can affect the blood, heart, brain, eyes, bones, and other parts of the body and can prove fatal.

The CDC said it is concerned about Candida auris for three main reasons: it is often multidrug-resistant, it is hard to identify using standard laboratory methods, and it has rapidly caused outbreaks in health care settings.

Additionally, individuals who have been hospitalized in health care facilities for long periods of time—especially those who have breathing tubes, feeding tubes, and central venous catheters going into their bodies—appear to be at the highest risk of contracting Candida auris.

According to CDC data, the drug-resistant fungus, which was first detected in the United States in 2016, has been spreading "at an alarming rate" among hospitalized patients in recent years, with clinical cases of the fungus nearly doubling in 2021 and continuing to rise in 2022.
Several commercials for new drugs warn of reduced resistance to infection.

#9  PJ Media is scathing about the manufactured hysteria:

Fast Fungus Facts
The fungal disease is quite rare.
It’s easily spread by person-to-person contact and can also be picked up from contaminated surfaces.
In rare cases, the fungus can spread to an infected person’s brain, heart, blood, eyes, and bones, and kill them.

Got that? The rare fungus can, in rare cases, kill people.

The CDC stated that the fungus seems to prefer people who are: diabetic; very sick; have been in a care facility for a while; are using catheters, breathing and/or feeding tubes; or have recently undergone surgery — much like COVID’s favorite victims.

African American Wash D.C. resident sends Fauci and JAB promo staff running (video)
[FOX] Dr. Anthony Fauci and D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser were subjected to intense scrutiny from a man who refused to get the COVID-19 vaccine while Bowser and Fauci went door-to-door in a Washington, D.C., neighborhood to promote the vaccine in 2021.

The exchange was documented by PBS for an upcoming program on Fauci as part of its "American Masters" series, which aims to help viewers "discover insightful profiles of important figures in America's artistic and cultural life."

In a clip from the program titled "Dr. Fauci visits D.C. to battle vaccine hesitancy," Fauci and Bowser are shown in June 2021 walking the streets of Ward 8 of Anacostia in southeast D.C. — a historical African-American neighborhood that Fauci called "disenfranchised" with low vaccination levels. At the time of the video, Fauci was the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.

Africa Subsaharan
South Africa's power grid is failing
[Armstrong Econ] South Africa is desperate for allies, economic allies. The country is failing and the people are suffering. There is international outrage right now misdirected at South Africa for its desire to host the Bric summit with Russia, China, Brazil, and India. The International Criminal Court (ICC) wants to arrest Putin for his war crimes, and President Cyril Ramaphosa is defending his position to invite Putin before the invitations for the event have even gone out. I warned that countries who were previously banned from discussions at the big table would turn to China and Russia for support since the West has abandoned them. "What about Ukraine!" the media cries. Well, what about South Africa? No one comments that the conditions in South Africa are WORSE than in Ukraine during an active war.

South Africa was in a bad spot economically long before COVID. GDP grew by a mere 1% between 2012 and 2021, according to the World Bank. The nation’s entire infrastructure is crumbling, and the power grid is on the verge of complete failure. Blackouts are common, and many blame state-owned power plant Eskom which routinely cuts off the power grid to produce "rolling blackouts" to conserve power. These "rolling blackouts" can last over 12 hours. This affects fuel availability, phone and internet coverage, traffic lights, power to hospitals, etc. It also limits the availability of food and water. Crime is more prevalent during blackouts as there are no cameras or security systems. Rape and crimes against women are disgustingly common. Civil unrest is so prevalent that the president issued a "state of disaster" warning on February 9, long after the situation became irreparable.

Bangladesh
Bangladesh extrajudicial killings fell dramatically in 2022, US report finds
[BenarNews] Extrajudicial killings in Bangladesh fell to 25 or fewer in 2022 from as many as 80 the previous year, the U.S. State Department said Monday as it released its annual report on human rights
...which are usually entirely different from personal liberty...
across the globe.

The drop followed the U.S. Treasury Department imposing financial sanctions on Bangladesh’s elite Rapid Action Battalion along with six current and former officers in December 2021 over what it identified as serious human rights abuses including extrajudicial killings.

The 2022 Country Reports on Human Rights Practices cited Bangladesh NGO Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK) in reporting that 19 people died from extrajudicial shootings or while in jug — including four from "so-called crossfires with law enforcement agencies and eight due to physical torture."

Another domestic human rights agency, which was not named, listed a higher number of alleged extrajudicial killings— 25 — during a period from January to September 2022.

By comparison, the 2021 State Department report stated that between 70 and 80 people were victims of alleged extrajudicial killings that year, citing ASK and another domestic rights group, Odhikar.

"Extrajudicial killings dramatically decreased from the previous year," the 2022 State Department report said.

ASK had previously alleged more than 600 such killings took place between May 2018 and June 2021.

The Bangladesh government in June 2022 refused to renew Odhikar’s license to operate, stating that it had "tarnished the image of the state to the world" and published "misleading" information on alleged extrajudicial killings and enforced disappearances.

Odhikar was among local organizations documenting alleged human rights abuses by RAB members.

A March 2022 analysis by a Bangladeshi think tank, the Centre for Governance Studies, found that the Detective Branch of the Bangladesh police was involved in more than half of all extrajudicial killings between 2019 and 2021, far more than RAB.

The analysis also found that extrajudicial killings were far higher in Cox’s Bazar, in southeastern Bangladesh, than in the rest of the country, according to the State Department report.

US SANCTIONS
The U.S. government took action against RAB in December 2021.

"Widespread allegations of serious human rights abuse in Bangladesh by the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) ... threaten U.S. national security interests by undermining the rule of law and respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms, and the economic prosperity of the people of Bangladesh," the U.S. Treasury Department said in a statement.

Those sanctions, which have yet to be lifted, bar U.S. citizens from conducting business with or making contributions to the sanctioned individuals and block access to any property they hold in the United States.

While visiting Washington in June 2022, Md. Shahriar Alam, Bangladesh’s state minister for foreign affairs, spoke positively about the elite police unit.

"RAB has never been used to suppress the opposition. There is no record of any big shot or member of BNP or Jamaat being harassed by RAB or from being killed," he said at the time, referring to the opposition Bangladesh National Party and the Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami

Very aggressive testicular cancer, JAB related ?
[Gateway] Last week, a bowler from Ireland was diagnosed with testicular cancer after experiencing dizziness in the gym. On Monday morning, the County Down bowler passed away.

As reported by the Belfast Telegraph:

Tributes have been paid to a young Co Down bowler who died days after being diagnosed with testicular cancer.

Daniel Donnan from Donaghadee was taken to hospital after he suddenly fell ill towards the end of last week.

It’s understood he experienced a dizzy spell in the gym and numbness down one side of his body.

The 21-year-old was rushed to the Ulster Hospital where he was treated for a bleed to the brain, but medical tests revealed tumours which had already spread to his brain and lungs.

Dr. William Makis, a nuclear medicine radiologist at the Cross Cancer Institute, published a substack over the weekend that raised questions about a sudden onslaught of testicular cancer cases among young, otherwise healthy athletes and other physically fit men.

In Dr. Makis’s piece, he points out a "fact check" that COVID-19 vaccines cause testicular cancer. The fact check, of course, denies any relation between testicular cancer and the experimental jab, but does concede there were four German footballers in the first league that have gotten testicular cancer since 2022. Dr. Makis points to another article claiming that number is as high as 14. He then mentions that it’s also rugby players, skiers, cricket players, and even a 32-year-old military member in California.

Some cases are "extremely rapidly progressive, like this one: ’late stage less than 2 months from 2nd jab...spread everywhere.'"

#2  Nothing to see here....

Remember the wackos on the Left in 2020 who said they weren't going to take "Trump's vaccine" (same wackos who pushed the vaccine at noon on 20 January 2021)? Anyway....
