Afghanistan
Daily Evacuation Brief March 22, 2023
[AfghanDigest] LAST 24 HOURS
  • EARTHQUAKE STRIKES THE REGION – An earthquake measuring 6.6 magnitude struck northeastern Afghanistan on Tuesday. The tremors were felt as far away as Kabul and Islamabad. The epicenter was reportedly in Badakhshan Province and at least 11 people reportedly lost their lives in both Pakistan and Afghanistan. More casualties are expected as rural communities in Badakhshan and elsewhere begin to report the damage and deaths. The earthquake was a deep one and seismologists say it took place nearly 200 kilometers below the earth’s surface. Internet outages were reported in Tajikistan, China, Afghanistan, and Pakistan after the quake occurred.

  • CLASSES REOPEN FOR BOYS ONLY – The academic year resumed yesterday but, due to some confusion, many students did not attend on the first day due to a lack of notification. Once again, female secondary students were not admitted back into classrooms and the international community erupted in near-universal condemnation of the Taliban for its massively unpopular gender bans.

  • 15 AFGHAN REFUGEES ARRESTED IN ISLAMABAD – Several Afghans residing in Pakistan reported that a police roundup took place on 18 March in central Islamabad and that at least 15 Afghans had been arrested. Their families and friends have not heard from them and lawyers' requests to get an update on their status were ignored. Some eyewitnesses to the incident said the Afghans had refused to pay bribes to the Police and that they were being held until ‘fines’ were paid to release them. However, this information has not been corroborated. We could not assess whether the arrests were in response to the new rules being put in place for Afghans in Pakistan.

  • IMRAN KHAN GRANTED BAIL IN COURT CASE UNTIL 27 MARCH – The former Prime Minister traveled to the Lahore High Court incognito and appeared in the afternoon to request bail in his ongoing legal troubles. The court was sympathetic and granted a reprieve until 27 March. Several additional charges against the former PM were read out to the court and it was announced later in the day that charges had also been filed against his wife. The situation remains volatile.

NEXT 24 HOURS
  • PTI GATHERING IN LAHORE MAY SPARK SOME VIOLENCE – It was not clear if the PTI rally that was scheduled for today will go ahead as planned. The rally was announced after the former PM’s travel to Islamabad to appear at the Federal Judicial Complex on charges related to corruption. Today’s rally is templated to take place at the Minar-i-Pakistan venue and thousands of PTI supporters have been in the city since before the clashes with police escalated on the 18th of March. Considering the tensions that exist between the PTI and Police, any gathering is likely to foment altercations with the police. It is our assessment that any violence will be restricted to Lahore and will most likely occur in areas on the fringe of the crowd and potentially along axis routes to and from Minar-i-Pakistan. At-risk Afghans in Lahore are advised to stay away from the site.

  • HEAVY RAIN FORECASTED FROM 22-25 MARCH – Flooding is expected in many parts of Central and Northeastern Afghanistan over the next few days, making travel extremely dangerous. At least 21 Provinces are expected to be affected by the downpour. At-risk Afghans contemplating travel would be wise to postpone if at all possible.

Grenade Blast Kills Mother, Five Children in Afghanistan’s Ghor
[KhaamaPress] Six people including a mother and five children were killed when a grenade went kaboom! in Afghanistan’s central Ghor province on Monday, local officials said.

The explosion took place on March 19, in a residential house in Ghorqand village, in the vicinity of Ferozkoh, the thriving provincial capital of Ghor province.

Abdulhai Zaeem, the provincial director of information and culture of the province told news hounds the incident happened when children were playing with a hand grenade inside their house.

Unwent kaboom! military supplies left from decades of war often cause casualties among children in Afghanistan. On March 17, two children were killed and two others maimed when they were hit by an unwent kaboom! mortar shell in Pashtun-infested Logar Province.

The consequences of several decades of wars have been overwhelming for the people of Afghanistan, women, and children in particular. Besides, they have lost their family members and experienced terrible situations during years of war and political unrest, they are still paying the price.

The lack of proper mechanisms to raise awareness among mothers and children about the killer risks of land mines, mortar shells, and other military supplies makes people vulnerable to such incidents throughout Afghanistan.

Al-Shabaab claims 20 soldiers killed in base attack
[ShabelleMedia] The al-Qaeda-linked al-Shabaab
...... al-Qaeda's tentacle in East Africa...
group staged a daring raid on a small town under the Somali government in the Middle Shabelle region on Tuesday.

The Lions of Islam who came in fighting vehicles swept into a military base in Daru-Nima village, which lies near the newly liberated RunirGood, and engaged in a shootout with the SNA.

The ambush was followed an hour-long battle which inflicted losses on both warring sides, according to the locals, who spoke to Radio Shabelle by phone on condition of anonymity.

Al-Shabaab claimed the upper hand of the fighting, adding that it killed 20 soldiers and maimed 10 others, a claim that Radio Shabelle could not independently verify.

The group also said it burned down two military vehicles in the rampage of the base.

Somali government is yet to release a statement regarding the al-Shabaab claims. The reports from the area indicate that the army is in control after pushing back the krazed killers.

Somalia military kills over 30 Al-Shabaab militants
[Garowe] Over 30 al-Shabaab
...... the personification of Somali state failure...
turbans were killed on Tuesday morning following an operation conducted by the Somali National Army [SNA] and local militia, state media reports, just days before the army embarks on the second phase of operations targeting the turbans in different parts of Somalia.

According to the state media, the turbans were killed in the Run-Nirgod district within Middle Shabelle where the group has suffered a series of defeats during the first phase of operations in the country. Local Ma'awisley militia also took part in the crackdown, state media added.

Of those killed, reports further indicate, were senior al-Shabaab commanders whose names have not been revealed due to security concerns. The army usually does due diligence before releasing sensitive information for public consumption, especially the one pertaining killing of bully boys.

Brigadier General Mohammed Tahlil, the commander of the Infantry Division which is responsible for land operations, told state media that the forces recovered weapons during the early morning operations, adding that the bully boy's efforts to collect the dead bodies of their colleagues were futile.

"Our forces took swift action against al-Shabaab gunnies who were trying to carry out an attack. We killed over 30 Khawarij fighters including senior commanders and forced them to flee from their dead bodies. We are committed to destroying the terrorist network in this region and throughout the country", Bihi told SONNA.

According to him, the turbans who had retreated started shooting innocent civilians randomly but the number of civilian deaths has not yet been established. The second phase of the operation is set to resume during the Holy month of Ramadan according to the senior security advisor to the presidency.

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud had declared "total war" on al-Shabaab turbans and according to records by the government, the turbans have lost significant territories in the last seven months. Besides the local militia, the US Africa Command and the African Union
...a union consisting of 53 African states, most run by dictators of one flavor or another. The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful...
Transition Mission in Somalia teams are taking part in the operations.

So far, the group is yet to make any official communication with regard to its severe losses on Tuesday but in most cases, it usually dispels such information. A rejuvenated Somali National Army is fighting hard to reclaim most parts of the country a year before they assume security responsibilities.

Somalia: Jubaland rejects use of clan militia in Al-Shabaab war
[Garowe] Somalia's federal state of Jubaland has rejected plans to recruit local militia in the pretext of fighting al-Shabaab
...... al-Qaeda's tentacle in East Africa...
, a strategy which is now being used in different parts of the country, particularly in Galmadug, HirShabelle, and Southwest where the first phase of the operations was anchored.

The country is set to start the second phase of the al-Shabaab crackdown during the month of Ramadan according to a senior advisor in Villa Somalia, with the US Africa Command and the African Union
...a union consisting of 53 African states, most run by dictators of one flavor or another. The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful...
Transition Mission in Somalia [ATMIS] also set to play a role. Militia has been important in the war as well.

But Yusuf Hussein Dhuumal, the state minister of security, insisted that the use of clan militia would destabilize the state given the possibility of poising security threats. There are claims that several meetings have been held in Nairobi in which organizers have strategized on recruiting militia.

Among those who were allegedly present were a former president's administration team including a former Somalia minister and a political advisor. The group, reports indicate, is pushing for the creation of Ma'awisley clan militia like the ones who have been fighting elsewhere across the country.

"Any recruitment will be done by the security department led by me as the Security minister. I will prepare their training and their ammunition. Someone can't just recruit militia in the mindset of fighting Al-Shabaab, it is not a good move for the Federal Government of Jubaland and the Country of Somalia. It's a recipe for disaster," he said.

Sources say the ideology of forming clan militia is being pushed by a senator and a former minister who are reportedly former allies of regional leader Ahmed Islam Mohammed Madobe, the current president of Jubaland.

According to reports, the two are allegedly involved in the creation and armament of clan militias in the Gedo region disguised to fight Al-Shabaab but Jubbaland claims to be a militia created to destabilize them as a state.

"The president commissioned the fight against Al-Shabaab. It's now ongoing, we will be aided by the Somalia National Army [SNA] and soldiers from neighbouring countries will cross the border to help," he said.

In an interview with the Somali BBC radio, the minister said the armament of clan militia poses a great threat to the fragile state of peace and security in the region. Jubaland has been a buffer zone for the republic of Kenya which has heavily deployed the Kenya Defense Forces [KDF] within the Sector II of ATMIS.

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud had also asked locals to take arms against al-Shabaab bandidos hard boyz something which security analysts say could be a thorn in the flesh in the future once the al-Shabaab bandidos hard boyz are overpowered. The government is determined to eradicate the bandidos hard boyz through military and ideological tactics.

Terrorists Return To Nigerian Capital, Abuja Community, Kill Two Persons, Abduct Many Others

The snuffies were shooting sporadically and in the process, their bullets hit the two passengers, who died immediately, it was learnt.

Terrorists, locally dubbed as bandidos, blocked the Bwari-Jere road near Bwari town in the Federal Capital Territory, killing two passengers while kidnapping numerous others.

Some of the witnesses at the scene said the snuffies blocked the road on Friday night, around the Ganmi junction, while they carried out their heinous act.

One of the villagers, Isah John, told Daily Trust that several cars coming from the Kaduna and Bwari areas ran into the obstruction.

He added that the bandidos rubbed out two passengers and kidnapped a number of others.

The snuffies were shooting sporadically and in the process, their bullets hit the two passengers, who died immediately, it was learnt.

They operated for about an hour before leaving with the passengers they kidnapped.

It was learnt that throughout the operation, gunshots were heard in villages like Ganmi, Garam, Idah and other neighbouring communities, which threw the people into panic.

A resident of Ganmi, who craved anonymity, said the bandidos had earlier blocked the road at the same junction two weeks ago and kidnapped five people.

He said the victims paid huge ransom before they were freed, adding that, "After they were freed, the bandidos came out again on Friday night to abduct many more people."

A leader in one of the communities, pleaded with the military to intervene by combing the areas along the road from Bwari to Jere, adding that many villagers along the road no longer slept with their two eyes closed.

"We now live in fear; these guys are close to somewhere between Bwari and Idah or Jere. The military should please come and help us. The military has been doing well in dislodging them in the forest close to Gidan Dogo, maybe they are the ones coming here and getting closer to Bwari in the FCT," he said.

Nigerian Government Arraigns Former Terrorists’ Negotiator Tukur Mamu

A former terrorists’ negotiator, Tukur Mamu, has been arraigned by the Nigerian government before Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court, Abuja, on a 10-count charge bordering on terrorism and financing, especially on the recent Abuja-Kaduna train attack.
The train attacks — actually mass kidnappings for ransom — were reportedly a Boko Haram project.
Mamu who was arrested on September 6, 2022, however, pleaded not guilty
"Wudn't me."
to the charges preferred against him, Daily Trust reports.

The case is being handled by the office of the Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF).

The charge was signed by the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) of the Federation, M.B. Abubakar

SaharaReporters had on November 22, 2022, reported that the Department of State Services withdrew the suit filed at the Federal High Court, Abuja to detain the former terrorists’ negotiator, Tukur Mamu, for 60 more days after his arrest.

DSS’ counsel, A.M. Danlami, had told Justice Nkeonye Maha shortly after the matter was called for hearing.

The suit marked: FHC/ABJ/CS/1619/2022 between SSS and Tukur Mamu, had been listed for further proceedings on the day’s cause list.

Upon resumed hearing, Danlami, who sought to withdraw the case, said that the matter had been overtaken by events.

"My lord, this matter is slated for hearing today. However,
a woman is only as old as she admits...
the matter has been overtaken by events. We wish to withdraw the suit," he said.

Following the application, Justice Maha struck out the suit.

"Application of the learner counsel succeeds. The application is hereby struck out having been withdrawn," she ruled.

The security agency, through its lawyer, Ahmed Magaji, had, on Sepember 13, moved a motion ex-parte, which sought an order of the court to detain Mamu for 60 more days in the first instance, pending the conclusion of its investigation.

The motion marked: FHC/ABJ/CS/1617/2022, was dated and filed on September 12.

It urged the court to grant its reliefs to enable it to conclude its investigation on Mamu, who had been leading the negotiation with the turbans for the release of the Abuja-Kaduna train passengers kidnapped in March 2022.

It will be recalled that almost six months after the Abuja-Kaduna train passengers were kidnapped by Boko Haram
...Nigeerian Islamist group, formerly paying homage to al-Qaeda, then, when the money ran out, to the Islamic State, and headed by nutcase Abu Bakr Shekau. Once he exploded in a gunfight with ISWAP, many in the group surrendered to the govt and others went with their new overlords. The remainder are a shell of their former selves, stmbling glassy-eyed and lonely through the Sambisa Forest and the soothing waters of Lake Chad, asking themselves What is truth?, or maybe just I wonder what's for dinner? I hope it's not rhinocerous again! ...
terrorists, the remaining 23 kidnapped victims finally regained their freedom on October 5 following the Federal Government’s intervention.

Mamu was, on September 6, arrested in Cairo, the capital of Egypt, with his family members by foreign security agents.

Mamu, who was on his way to Saudi Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. Fifteen of the nineteen WTC hijackers were Saudis, and most major jihadi commanders were Saudis, to include Osama bin Laden. Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman quietly folded that tent in 2016, doing terrible things to the guys running it, and has since been dragging the kingdom into the current century...
for lesser Hajj, was detained at Cairo International Airport before being repatriated back to Nigeria.

Meanwhile,
...back at the pound, the little lost dog had finished eating the rat terrier...
the DSS, in the affidavit in support of the ex-parte motion, alleged that its preliminary investigation established the offences of the logistics supplier, aiding and abetting acts of terrorism against Mamu.

Nigerian Army Arrests ‘Repentant’ Boko Haram Fighter For Involving In Fatal Bomb Attacks On Troops

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai of the Nigerian Army have reportedly arrested a "repentant Boko Haram
...the name means Western education is forbidden, They're what you get as the result of a traditional African or Islamic education...
fighter", Ba’ana Bdiya, over a kaboom on Nigerian soldiers that led to the deaths of at least three soldiers.

According to Zagazola Makama, a counterinsurgency report focused on the Lake Chad region, Ba’ana Bdiya, who is also known as ’Manci’, gave out details on the movement of the troops to hard boyz on March 16, 2023, when the ambush attack occurred.

The publication reported that the intelligence shared by Manci led to the ambush of soldiers who were attacked with an improvised bomb (IED) on the outskirt of Banki town, Borno State during which no fewer than three soldiers were reported dead while four others were maimed.

The publication was quoted as stating that "Ba’ana was among the thousands of Boko Haram who laid down their arms and were accepted back by the society after undergoing rehabilitation. But despite renouncing his membership of the terror group, he maintained close contact with his former colleagues."

It was further reported that sources in the military told Zagazola Makama that Manci had earlier in February passed a similar intelligence to the Boko Haram fighters who successfully ambushed troops during fighting patrols at Ngauri.

The intelligence was said to have led to the killing of some soldiers.

The military sources were quoted as saying that "This is less than one week after two other ex-militant, Goni Farouq and Amir Zabu, (The executioner) who were top former Commanders of Boko Haram, were intercepted in a phone conversation, planning attacks against troops.

"The real obstacle standing between the troops and the total and final obliteration of Boko Hama hard boyz is the nefarious activities of the local network of informants.

"There are concerns that the continued release of repentant hard boyz into society without proper deradicalisation could subvert the progress made so far in the war against insurgency."

Citizen killed by unknown assailants in Aden
[HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] A citizen was killed on Tuesday by unknown button men in the city of Aden, which is under the control of the Saudi-led coalition militia.

Human rights sources in the city stated that button men, believed to belong to the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC)’s militia, opened fire and killed the young man, Fahd Saleh Awad, in al-Basateen neighborhood of Dar Saad.

The sources pointed out that the button men managed to flee in front of the citizens to an unknown destination, without knowing the motives of the liquidation.

Security chaos has struck the city of Aden due to the absence of state authorities since the coalition took control of the city in the second half of 2015, assassinating hundreds of military, security leaders and mosque preachers.

ISI Brigadier among five security men martyred in two attacks
[Dawn] Five security personnel, including a senior military officer, were martyred in separate attacks in South Wazoo and Dera Ismail Khan
... the Pearl of Pashtunistan ...
on Tuesday.

According to an ISPR statement, Brig Mustafa Kamal Barki from Inter-Services Intelligence
...the Pak military intelligence agency that controls the military -- heads of ISI typically get promoted into the Chief of Army Staff position. It serves as a general command center for favored turban groups such as Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammad, tries to influence the politix of neighboring countries, and carries out a (usually) low-level war against India in Kashmir...
(ISI), while leading the encounter from the front, embraced martyrdom and seven soldiers got injuries, two of them critical, in South Waziristan.

Police sources said Brig Barki was travelling from Angoor Ada to Wana when they came under attack in the Khamrang area, close to Afghan border. His driver also embraced martyrdom in the attack which took place around 6pm, they said.

No group claimed responsibility for the attack till late evening.

Brig Barki’s family also confirmed the reports of his martyrdom.

The ISPR said Brig Barki and his team put up a valiant resistance against the Death Eaters during an encounter and the officer sacrificed his life for peace of the motherland. The defence forces and intelligence agencies pledge to reaffirm and demonstrate firm resolve to eliminate the menace of terrorism from every inch of the country, the statement said.

Earlier in another encounter, security officials killed three Death Eaters before embracing martyrdom in Dera Ismail Khan, officials said.

According to ISPR, Death Eaters opened fire on a police checkpoint in general area of Khutti on the night of March 20 and 21. Security forces immediately cordoned the area, blocking all possible escape routes, and intercepted fleeing Death Eaters in the general area of Saggu. After an intense exchange of fire, three Death Eaters were eliminated and weapons and ammunition were seized from their custody.

During the exchange of fire, Havaldar Mohammad Azhar Iqbal, 42, resident of Lodhran; Naik Mohammad Asad, 34, resident of Khanewal; and Sepoy Mohammad Essa, 22, resident of South Waziristan, having fought gallantly, embraced martyrdom. A police official who sustained injuries was shifted to D.I. Khan hospital.

According to the ISPR, an operation is being carried out to eliminate any Death Eaters found in the area. The statement said the army was determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism and such sacrifices of brave soldiers further strengthen their resolve.

Man carrying heroin-filled capsules in his stomach held in Peshawar
[Dawn] The excise department’s narcotics control wing on Monday arrested a man and recovered heroin-filled capsules from his stomach.

The department had received information about a person having reached Haji Camp bus terminal in order to travel to the federal capital.

"We started tracing the man and found him near Haji Camp bus terminal," a senior excise official said, adding that the accused, Mohammad Akram, a resident of Chiniot, Punjab, planned to travel to Islamabad and then to the United Kingdom.

The official said during initial investigation, the accused said he was carrying drugs in his stomach, after which he was shifted to the Lady Reading Hospital, where three capsules containing around 180 grams of heroin were recovered from his body.

A case was registered against him at the excise cop shoppe.

IDF prepares to raze home of terrorist who killed Israeli brothers in Huwara
Murder is a choice, and like all choices there are natural consequences.
[IsraelTimes] Troops enter West Bank city of Nablus to take measurements of building where Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth", member Abdel Fattah Hussein Kharousha, accused of February 26 attack, lived

The Israeli military early Wednesday morning made preparations for the demolition of the home of a Paleostinian terrorist who carried out a deadly shooting attack in the West Bank town of Huwara last month, killing two Israeli brothers.

On February 26, Abdel Fattah Hussein Kharousha, 49, a member of the Hamas terror group, shot and killed Hallel Yaniv, 21, and Yagel Yaniv, 19, as they drove through Huwara.

Kharousha expeditiously departed at a goodly pace and was killed during an Israeli raid in Jenin on March 7.

In the predawn hours of Wednesday morning, the Israel Defense Forces said troops measured Kharousha’s home — the first step before its potential demolition — in the West Bank city of Nablus.

Paleostinian media reports claimed Kharousha’s son, Qassam, was detained during the raid early Wednesday. During the March 7 operation to kill Kharousha, troops also raided Nablus and arrested two other sons, Khaled and Muhammed Kharousha, the IDF said at the time.

There were no reports of major festivities during the IDF entry to Nablus on Wednesday to measure the home of the terrorist.

Israel regularly demolishes the homes of Paleostinians accused of carrying out deadly terror attacks as a matter of policy. The efficacy of the policy has been hotly debated even within the Israeli security establishment, while human rights

Palestinian to be charged for stabbing woman in Netanya; coat saved her from harm
[IsraelTimes] Alleged terror attack in coastal city occurred on March 12; suspect from West Bank did not have an entry permit into Israel

A Paleostinian man from the West Bank is set to face charges for carrying out a terror stabbing attack in the coastal city of Netanya last week, without causing any injuries, police said Tuesday.

According to law enforcement officials, on March 12 the 20-year-old suspect, who was not named, attacked a woman who was walking with young children she was looking after, in an alley near the city’s Independence Square.

He stabbed her in the shoulder with a pocket knife, but she was unharmed as the blade was blocked by her coat, which as a result was slightly torn.

Police said they received calls about suspicious activity at Independence Square, where officers detained the suspect, still armed with the knife.

Only later did the investigation reveal that the suspect had stabbed someone.

The suspect, who did not have an entry permit to Israel, was to be brought for a hearing at a military court on Tuesday to extend his remand ahead of an indictment that would be filed against him in the coming days, police said.

He is expected to be charged with terror offenses.

Shin Bet busts Gaza-directed terror cell planning shooting, bombing attacks
[IsraelTimes] Agency says 2 West Bank Paleostinians detained days ahead of carrying out ’significant’ shooting in Jerusalem for Popular Resistance® Committees, along with 2 recruited for bombing

Four Paleostinians from the West Bank who were allegedly recruited by a terror group in the Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamaswith about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
Strip to carry out major attacks were detained in recent weeks, the Shin Bet security agency said Tuesday.

Two of the alleged cell members were recently detained over plans to carry out a "significant" shooting attack in Jerusalem in the coming days, the Shin Bet said. Guns the pair were planning to use were also seized.

And last month, the agency said, two Paleostinian brothers were detained for allegedly being recruited to carry out a bombing attack in Israel.

The four suspects were not named.

According to the Shin Bet, young Paleostinians are being recruited by Amin Zakot, 31, and Sabari Aram, 40, members of the Gaza-based Popular Resistance® Committees, who provide them with training and weapons to carry out terror attacks.

In December, the Shin Bet said the Popular Resistance® Committees was recruiting Paleostinians in the West Bank to carry out a major bombing attack in Israel. A primed explosive was seized. The agency also named Zakot and Aram at the time as being involved in the plans.

The Shin Bet said the recent attempts by the Popular Resistance® Committees were monitored "in all stages of planning and were uncovered ahead of the execution of the attacks."

The Popular Resistance® Committees are funded and supported by the Gaza-ruling Hamas, a regional Iranian catspaw, terror group, according to the Shin Bet.

"The Shin Bet considers the Hamas terror group to be responsible for all terror activity emanating from the Gaza Strip, and will continue to work, all the more forcefully, to thwart any attempt by terror elements to advance military activity against the State of Israel," the agency said.

Israeli troops injured in landmine blast on Lebanon border, IDF sez incident not an attack
[PUBLISH.TWITTER]

Several Israeli soldiers were maimed Tuesday when a landmine went kaboom! under a military Humvee vehicle on the border with the Lebanese town of Aita al-Shaab, al-Manar TV reported.

The blast went off as Israeli vehicles were carrying out bulldozing works in the Herj al-Raheb area, al-Manar added.

"One of the soldiers was heard screaming after his leg was amputated by the earth-shattering kaboom," the TV network added, noting that the Israeli vehicles withdrew from the area after the incident.

A security source meanwhile told al-Mayadeen TV that the blast occurred on the Israeli side of the Blue Line.
The Times of Israel adds:
Two Israeli soldiers were hurt when an old landmine went kaboom! on the border with Lebanon Hezbollahstan
...the home of Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity™, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade...
on Tuesday, the military said.

According to the Israel Defense Forces, the mine went kaboom! during routine engineering activity on the northern side of the security barrier, which is built inside Israeli territory.

The IDF said there was no fear of the incident being an attack, but was still investigating what set off the mine and why it was not detected by the forces.

The pair were taken to Galilee Medical Center in Nahariya, which said one of the soldiers was listed in moderate but stable condition, while the other was lightly hurt.

Many of Israel’s border regions, near Lebanon — in the Golan Heights, and southern Arava region — are pocked with minefields planted during wars in the early years of the state. Some mines were planted by the Israeli military, while others were put there by Syria and Jordan.

Efforts to remove them are dangerous and have been painstakingly slow, leaving the area near the Lebanon border, in the Golan, and Arava with a number of fenced-off minefields. Accidents are rare, but occasionally occur.

The border with Lebanon has been somewhat tense in recent weeks, with the Hezbollah terror group establishing new tall observation posts as the IDF ramps up the construction of a defensive wall.

The IDF said it expects that ongoing construction work to build a wall along the northern frontier, to replace an aging fence, would be completed within two years.

Israeli airstrikes hit Aleppo airport for second time in weeks — Syrian media
[IsraelTimes] No reports of casualties in early morning attack, which has forced runway in northern Syrian city to close again

The Israeli Air Force allegedly carried out an Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
at the airport in the northern Syrian city of Aleppo in the early hours of Wednesday morning, according to Syria’s state-run media outlet.

There were no immediate reports of casualties, but the state news agency, SANA, said some damage had been caused at the airport. It was the second time Aleppo International Airport has been hit in recent weeks.

According to an official notice sent by Syrian aviation authorities, known as a NOTAM, the runway at the airport was closed.

SANA, citing a military source, said the Israeli fighter jets launched several missiles at the airport from over the Mediterranean sea, causing explosions to be heard in other regions.

There was no comment from the Israel Defense Forces, in line with its policy of not generally commenting on air raids in Syria. Israel is believed to have carried out hundreds of strikes on targets inside government-controlled parts of Syria in recent years, including attacks on the Damascus and Aleppo airports, but it rarely acknowledges or discusses the operations.

Aleppo International was hit with airstrikes attributed to Israel earlier this month and forced to shut its runway for several days.

Days later, Israel carried out a rare daytime strike against targets in northwestern Syria, injuring three soldiers and causing damage, the state-run broadcaster SANA said.

Aleppo, which suffered widespread destruction in Syria’s civil war, was heavily damaged in the deadly 7.8-magnitude earthquake that hit The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire...
and Syria last month. A number of countries have since sent aid shipments to the city’s airport, including Iran, an ally of Syria.

Iran
...The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both...
and Syria called the airstrike against the airport earlier this month a "crime against humanity."

In January, the Syrian army said Israel’s military fired missiles toward the Damascus international airport, putting it out of service temporarily and killing two soldiers. That attack came amid Israeli fears the Damascus airport was being used to funnel Iranian weaponry into the country.

Last August, Syria accused Israel of being behind two consecutive airstrikes at Aleppo International Airport and a site near the Damascus Airport, as Israel was said to be ramping up its efforts to target airports to counter Tehran’s growing use of commercial flights to bring military supplies into the country.

(ISIS) in a town east of Palmyra, central Syria.

A local source from the town of Sukhnah east of Palmyra said each of Ali al-Hussein, 30, and his nephew Muhannad al-Hussein, 26, bit the dust in a landmine explosion that was left by ISIS on the outskirts of the town.

The source added that the two young men were on their way to the town’s desert to search for their brothers who had gone missing two days ago chasing truffles and had not returned yet.

Since early this year, dozens of civilian victims have been recorded in the Syrian Desert during the truffles season due to explosions of ISIS mines.

On March 19, attackers, suspected to be operatives of ISIS, killed two members of the pro-government the National Defense Forces (NDF) and maimed two snuffies of the Iranian-backed Liwa al-Quds militia.

This took place after a group of individuals, who worked for a leader of the NDF in truffles chasing were attacked in Ayyash desert in the western countryside of Deir ez-Zor.

The Iranian-backed militias and government forces control vast areas of the Syrian Badia (Desert) and Deir ez-Zor, which have recently witnessed many battles against ISIS.

HTS takes control of Jindires from SNA following killing incident
[NPASyria] On Tuesday, Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, formerly al-Nusra, before that it was called something else

(HTS, formerly al-Nusra
...formally Jabhat an-Nusrah li-Ahli al-Sham (Support Front for the People of the Levant), also known as al-Qaeda in the Levant. They aim to establish a pan-Arab caliphate. Not the same one as the Islamic State, though .. ...
Front) seized the town of Jindires, northwest Syria, form the Ottoman Turkish-backed opposition’s Syrian National Army (SNA) after a faction of the latter sparked a public outrage and protests after killing four Kurdish civilians a day earlier.

On Monday, an SNA faction called Jaish al-Sharqiya killed four Kurdish civilians and injured others in Jindires countryside while they were lighting fire to celebrate Newroz.

Social media users circulated a recent photo of HTS’ leader Abu Muhammad al-Jolani accompanied by a leader in Jaish al-Sharqiya called Hassan Dabaa who is accused of killing the Kurdish people in Jindires.

A source told North Press, "HTS deployed members of its General Security Apparatus in all of the town’s neighborhoods during the funeral procession of those who were killed last night. The procession headed to their final resting place in the town’s cemetery."

The source added that the HTS took control of the SNA’s Military Police headquarters in the town and the local council building, affiliated with the opposition’s Interim Government. "The HTS also demanded Ottoman Turkish-backed Military Police leave in their uniforms only and not take anything with them from their offices."

The HTS also set up a checkpoint on the Atma-Deir Ballout road after SNA’s Sham Legion withdrew its forces from the site. It also installed another one at the western entrance of Jindires and one on the road leading to al-Hamam border crossing, according to the source.
