After the Minsk agreements sham the Wests credibility is gone.
It did not seem to get any play in US media, but around 7-Dec, Frau Merkel gave an interview with a German newspaper where she outright admitted that there was no intention of living up the Mink agreement and the only purpose was to buy time for Ukraine to build up. Seems a bit on the duplicitous side, but we are playing the Great Game, right?
The problem now is the Russians are not going to buy into any negotiated settlement. They will quit when they have a secure defensive position against NATO. I'm guessing the means Ukraine east of the Dieper river.

Thank you. Good review of history showing will of the Russian people but Stalin perhaps was not the man needed. Stalin was more a Hitler in my opinion. Now in modern times Putin outshines most in today's leadership.

Outshines? C'mon, Dale. If Putin outshines Biden, that's not really saying much. Even if he wins, which is somewhat doubtful at this point, Putin is an ex-KGB thug, not a great statesman. Can we be a bit more realistic?

1. There is no operational encirclement of the city yet. At least one road is available for use in the interests of supplying the Artyomovskaya grouping of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Its interception should not be expected before the capture of Paraskovievka and Krasnaya Gora.
2. The main advances in the city today are in the southeastern and northeastern regions of the city.
3. The opponent is holding the red for now. There is no full-fledged assault on the village yet. The enemy hastily fortifies positions to the southeast and south of the Yar Clock.
4. There are no signs of the beginning of a systematic withdrawal of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from the city. So far, the enemy is trying to hold on to positions in the city for as long as possible, as long as the possibility of supply remains. In this regard, the battles at Krasnaya Gora and Paraskovievka are of decisive importance in accelerating events in Artemovsk.
[GreyDynamics] Zaslon “Barrier or Screen” is Russia’s most secretive special-purpose unit within the Russian external security service, Sluzhba Vneshney Razvedki (SVR). It roughly resembles the American Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) or the British Secret Intelligence Service (SIS) also known as MI6.
If the SVR is Russia’s CIA or MI6 then Zaslon is comparable to the CIA’s Global Response Staff (GRS), the CIA’s high-security detail, or the even more secretive E-Squadron. The US Army’s Task Force Orange AKA intelligence support activity (ISA) conducted similar functions, supporting CIA intelligence officers in hostile environments. Incorrectly, some sources claim that Zaslon is the equivalent of the CIA Special Activities Center. Of course, culture and political systems impact doctrine of these organistations so it remains difficult to compare.
According to a Swedish Defence source, Zaslon was established on 23 March 1997 but became operational in 1998 with around 300 members. Most open sources rely on a Komsomolskaia Gazeta report on the 4th of March 1998. Several sources state that Zaslon is attached to the 7th Department of the Center for Self-Security (CSB) of the SVR.
