An Asayish patrol came under attack by ISIS cells in Deir ez Zor, eastern Syria

The Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish) announced on Wednesday that one of their patrols was attacked by cells affiliated with the Islamic State
 ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) in the western countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.
"On Tuesday, one of our patrols was targeted by ISIS cells," the Asayish said in an official statement. "The attack resulted in material damage only, with no casualties reported."
The statement added that Asayish units immediately launched a sweep operation to track down those responsible and reinforced security measures in the surrounding area.
The Asayish noted that the attack comes amid a recent surge in ISIS activity, stating: "This incident is part of an escalating pattern of ISIS operations over the past few days, during which the group carried out two separate terrorist attacks in eastern Deir ez-Zor in an apparent attempt to undermine security and destabilize the region."
