UK arrests three Afghan men on human trafficking charges
[KhaamaPress] The UK’s National Crime Agency (NCA) reported on Monday the arrest of "three Afghan men" for trafficking refugees through The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor...
, Iran, and the Balkans to Western Europe. The men face charges related to sexual crimes, including the rape of young refugee boys and blackmailing them.

The three men are part of a human trafficking ring that has been bringing thousands of refugees, mainly to La Belle France and Belgium, before smuggling them across the English Channel to the UK in small boats.

After a two-year joint investigation by Belgian police and the UK NCA, the traffickers were finally arrested in South London.

Ziyarmal Khan, 24, also known as "Boxer Bai," was the first member of the gang to be detained on December 6th at Stansted Airport in London.

On December 18th, Zeeshan Bangash, 20, was arrested in Kentish New Road, London, and the third suspect, Saifur Rahman Ahmadzai, 23, also known as "President Hamza," was arrested on December 30th in Hampstead, UK.

The UK NCA stated that the gang filmed their sexual abuse of young refugee boys and extorted money from them.

Last month, a Belgian court sentenced the three Afghan traffickers, along with 20 other gang members, to a combined 170 years in prison. Ahmadzai received 10 years, while Khan and Bangash each received three years in prison and a €3,000 fine. The men were convicted in absentia.

The plight of Afghan refugees, fleeing violence and persecution, remains dire, with many becoming victims of human trafficking along their perilous journeys. Despite international efforts, these vulnerable individuals often face exploitation, with traffickers taking advantage of their desperation for safety.

As the UK continues to be a primary destination for Afghan refugees, there has been an alarming rise in deportations and the tightening of borders. This, coupled with the ongoing instability in Afghanistan, leaves many refugees caught in a cycle of displacement, struggling for a sense of security and justice. The international community must do more to protect refugees and dismantle the trafficking networks exploiting their vulnerability.
