Another 175 Pakistani students return home from Bishkek as govt steps up evacuation efforts
[GEO.TV] A plane carrying another 175 Pak students, stranded in Bishkek amid mob attacks on foreign nationals, landed at Lahore airport on Sunday.

Information Minister Ataullah Tara received the students at the airport. Speaking to the media, the information said all arrangements at Lahore and Islamabad airports have been completed for the return of the students from the Kyrgyz capital.

He said the government will ensure safe return of all stranded Pak students to their homes and added that the Pak government was in contact with the Kyrgyz authorities in this regard.

Earlier today, Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said that as many as 540 students, stranded in Kyrgyzstan's capital Bishkek amid mob violence, are scheduled to return to the country via special flights

On late Saturday, a flight carrying first batch of Pak students landed at Lahore airport. Addressing a presser in Lahore, Dar said that about 130 Pak students returned to the country last night and that 540 more will return today.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif directed Ambassador of Pakistain in Kyrgyzstan Hasan Ali Zaigham to make all necessary arrangements regarding the special plane to bring back Pak students.

Several international students including Paks came under mob attacks by locals in the aftermath of their fight with the Egyptian nationals on May 13.

At least five Pak students were maimed in the violent mostly peaceful attacks triggered by a brawl between locals and Egyptian nationals. There were reports of death of Pak students, however, they were rebutted by Pakistain’s embassy in Bishkek.

In a telephonic conversation with the envoy, PM Shehbaz directed him to stay in touch with all Pak students and their families in Kyrgyzstan. He said that the plane will depart in the evening today.

#2 the 2024 Bishkek riots were attacks on foreigners by Kyrgyz mobs in Bishkek, capital of Kyrgyzstan. The clashes lasted from May 17th to the 18th. ../. The Pakistani government successfully evacuat 650+ students. Kyrgyzstan is a common destination for medical students, given cheap costs of education and internationally recognized medical degrees. It had more then 60 thousand foreign students in 2021, including 14,500 Indian students and 10,000 Pakistani students.
Clashes began after Kyrgyz students were involved in a brawl with Egyptian and other Arab medical students on May 13. The Arabs were allegedly winning the fight, which sparked retaliation by Kyrgyz mobs against foreigners in the country. Initially, over 100 Kyrgyz gathered "to take revenge on the foreigners who beat up residents."

#5 A severe and repeated beatdown

I prefer to think of it as communicating with people in a language they can understand. It sounds less harsh that way.
