Al-Nazir Daw al-Bayt, an activist in North Kordofan State, confirmed the casualties to Sudan Tribune and added that the maimed individuals were transferred to hospitals in El Obeid, the state capital. He emphasized the continuous air strikes by the army on villages in North Kordofan, specifically in Jabra al-Sheikh, al-Hamra, Abu Zaimah, and Sodari, prompting a considerable number of citizens to flee their homes.
The surge in air raids by the Sudanese army coincides with the ongoing control exerted by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) over large areas in North Kordofan. The RSF has imposed a strict siege on El Obeid since the conflict’s inception, engaging in persistent festivities with the Sudanese army as they vie for control of the strategic city connecting the states of Darfur and Kordofan.
This recent air strike and the continued hostilities in North Kordofan highlight the severe humanitarian crisis in the region. Civilians are disproportionately affected, facing displacement, disrupted access to essential resources, and the constant threat to their lives due to the relentless attacks.
