They publicize the strict crackdown with in-your-face images, turning the strong-arm tactic into a slick, publicity campaign. El Salvador’s president, Nayib Bukele, boasts he now runs "the most criticized prison in the world." It certainly has its critics, but also many fans. Consider the NGOs and 'journalists' who are going after the program. IIUC some US Gov representatives have visited, concerned about the gangsters being targeted.
