Somalia army repulses Al-Shabaab raid in two military bases

According to security forces, the first attack took place in Kismayo

According to the report, the SNA soldiers with the backing of the Ma'awisley clan militia managed to repulse al-Shabaab bully boyz who had crossed River Shabelle within the Bardheere area south of Beledweyne with an intention of attacking a nearby military base.
And in the western part of Somalia, the reports further indicated, the troops backed by Jubaland State forces also thwarted a separate attack by al-Shabaab fighters who fired mortar rounds in the Sanguni area in southern Somalia, where the African Union

Transition Mission in Somalia [ATMIS] soldiers operate.
So far, the government is yet to issue a statement with regard to the two attempted raids but in their friendly media outlets, the al-Shabaab bully boyz claimed they killed 32 soldiers in the separate attacks.
Their claims could not be independently verified by Garowe Online. The government forces have intensified their attacks against al-Shabaab since President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud declared an all-out war against the bully boyz last year. Last week, the government said over 3,000 bully boyz were killed during the first phase which ended a few weeks ago.
And early this week, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud launched the second phase of operations against al-Shabaab which is believed to be the last complex crackdown before the Somali National Army takes full responsibility for security within the country upon the exit of ATMIS troops.
According to a statement published on pro-Al-Shabaab websites, the attacks took place in areas near Kismayo, the seat of Jubaland and the outskirts of Beledweyne in HirShabelle.
The group claimed seizing control of the bases located in Barsanguni and Bardhere villages following the attacks. There was no a statement from the government regarding the issue.
The corpse count include local clan fighters known as Macawisley who are helping the government forces in the fight against al-Shabaab

. At least 15 killed in Bardhere while 17 died in Barsanguni base raid. A battle broke out early on Wednesday morning in the Bardhere area of Hiran region between the local forces supported by the SNA and Al-Shabaab.
The skirmish came after Al-Shabaab fighters who crossed the Shabelle River on the west side attacked a base belonging to the allied forces, who managed to fend off the ambush.
It remains sketchy the casualties caused by the fighting that locals said involved heavy weapons being used by both sides. The militants were overpowered and repulsed later.
The latest reports say that the Al-Shabaab fighters who attacked the Bardhere area in Southern Baledweyne this morning suffered losses and fled to nearby villages.
