Hawl Camp in NE Syria witnesses a second crime in 48 hours, as another woman was wounded

The Internal Security Forces (Asayish) found on Thursday a woman with a gunshot wound, east of Hasakah, northeast Syria.

A security source in the camp told North Press that the Asayish received a report that a woman was shot in the sixth sector of the camp.

The woman was transported to a hospital in the city of Hasakah, the source added.

The source said that the injured woman is a displaced Syrian, but he did not mention any further information about her condition.

At dawn on Wednesday, the Asayish found a woman killed in the stadium of the third sector. The woman was taken to the Kurdish Red Crescent point.

“The killed woman was called Hajir al-Ali, and she was shot in the head. It is likely that ISIS cell members are behind this crime.

Despite all the security measures followed in the camp by the International Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish), affiliated with the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES), sleeper cells of the Islamic State Organization (ISIS) are still committing murders.

The AANES was first formed in 2014 in the Kurdish-majority regions of Afrin, Kobani and Jazira in northern Syria following the withdrawal of the government forces. Later, it was expanded to Manbij, Tabqa, Raqqa, Hasakah and Deir ez-Zor after the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) defeated ISIS militarily.

Since the beginning of this year, there have been 18 killings, nine of which were against Syrians, including an employee of the Kurdish Red Crescent Organization, and eight Iraqis, according to a source in the camp.

As Turkey began to threaten to launch a military operation on Syria’s north, crimes rate and killing attempts have increased in the camp, according the source told North Press.
What an odd coincidence.
On June 1, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan renewed his threats of launching a military operation on northern Syria, and specified his targets in the two Syrian cities of Manbij and Tel Rifaat.

Hawl Camp, 45 km east of the city of Hasakah, houses 56,775 people, the majority of them are Iraqis. While thousands of wives and children of foreign ISIS members and detainees live in a special section within the camp.
