Suspected Turkish shelling targets Kobane city
|
[Rudaw] At least two civilians were maimed after suspected Ottoman Turkish shelling struck the center of the Kurdish city of Kobane in northern Syria
...in Aleppo province just south of the Turkish border... on Friday, according to the local monitor Rojava Information Center (RIC).
"The city of Kobane has been hit by 4 shells, presumably from a Ottoman Turkish howitzer," the RIC, which is affiliated with the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), tweeted.
North Press Agency (NPA), a local media outlet, said on Friday that the attack only saw material losses, adding that the city "witnessed a state of panic" amid the bombardment.
According to RIC, the attack's location is close to the site targeted by a Ottoman Turkish drone in December, where six members of the Revolutionary Youths, supposedly affiliated with the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) were killed and three others injured.
