- A total 249,198 people were detained trying to come into the U.S. by land, air or sea in March
- A growing chorus of Democrats are working to stop Biden from ending COVID-era expulsion policy Title 42
- The Michigan Democrat Sen. Gary Peters told The Hill that he has privately raised concerns with Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and other administration officials about the May 23 expiry
- Peters chairs both the Homeland Security committee and the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee
- He said he wants to give Biden time to detail a plan for handling the likely onslaught of migrants
- If they do not have a plan, he said the Biden administration should 'revisit' ending the policy
- Migrant crossings at the Mexican border surged to the highest number in over two decades last month
