Iraqi forces thwart suspected ISIS attack in Kirkuk

...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) attack in Kirkuk province late on Tuesday, as Iraqi and Peshmerga fighters launch joint operations to increase cooperation in disputed territories where the terror group remains active.

The Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF or Hashd al-Shaabi in Arabic) thwarted an ISIS attack in Kirkuk’s style=color:maroon;>Dibis town after "ISIS remnants attacked checkpoints of the Iraqi army," state media reported.

No group has made any comments yet about the recent offensive.
