ISIS plot to blow up Virginia malls: Cops increase security after warning that terror group is plotting attack just miles from nation's capitol UPDATE: Afghan refugees involved?

Cops in Northern Virginia have been warned by ISIS of a potential threat at malls and shopping centers, according to Fairfax County Police Chief Kevin Davis

Increased law enforcement will continue through Halloween weekend and into Tuesday - Election Day - when McAuliffe and Youngkin compete for governor

Officers were already reportedly patrolling the area around Fair Oaks Mall, which is located 20miles outside of Washington, DC

Earlier this week Department of Homeland Security's intelligence chief John Cohen said ISIS wants individuals to act on their own in lone-wolf attacks

US intelligence agencies also said they believe the Islamic State in Afghanistan could develop the capability to attack the United States in as little as six months

The worrisome announcements come after the rapid end of America's 20-year war, which resulted in the death of 13 US troops killed in an ISIS-K suicide attack
