Dr. Eric Lander, the White House's top science advisor, said the U.S. is not ready to face another pandemic as he presented a new $65 billion plan to change that

The new American Pandemic Preparedness plan would focus on enhancing vaccine creations and distribution efforts to combat future viruses

Lander said U.S. was not prepared for COVID-19 as nearly 40 million people were infected and more than 640,000 died

Lander and other experts warned that a new pandemic could hit within the decade or sooner
