Taliban committed war crimes in Spin Boldak: US, UK embassies

’s recent atrocities in the Spin Boldak district of Kandahar province as war crimes and violations of International law.

The embassies condemned the so-called retaliatory killings by the Taliban in Spin Boldak and asked for the culprits of the massacre to be held responsible.
A joint statement by the two embassies also reads that the leadership of the Taliban should be held responsible if they cannot control their fighters.
As per the report of AIHRC published on Saturday, the Taliban after capturing Spin Boldak district of southern Kandahar province massacred 40 former and current government officials to seek Dire Revenge. The number is alleged to be higher than given.
Based on the report, the body investigated and documented the case, referred to local sources to obtain reliable information, and also interviewed the families of victims and witnesses. At the end of the day, they deduced that the Taliban had committed retaliatory killings and also plundered the property of people.
The Taliban have purportedly killed those who contributed to ANDSF’s recapturing operations which failed.
The Taliban have repeatedly denied killing civilians or looting the properties of people but the AIHRC accused the fighters of doing so and blamed their leadership for not being influential over its rank-and-file.
The AIHRC calls on warring parties in Afghanistan to remain committed to International rights and refrain from retaliatory killings and destroying public facilities and properties.

"Talib attacks are more violent mostly peaceful, more bloodthirsty and more oppressive," Ghani said.
Back in June, 23 members of an Afghan special force unit were executed by the Taliban in Faryab province after they surrendered to the group. Moreover, a famous comedian, Mohammad Khasha Zwan, was killed in Kandahar after he was taken captive by the group late last month.
